[5.0] "Ich bin etwas erstaunt, dass NJPW nun nach dem Finale des New Japan Cups zweimal hintereinander sehr enttäuschende Main Events gezeigt hat. Normalerweise trägt bei NJPW das Match im Main Event die ganze Show und der Rest ist eher Beiwerk. Aber beide Main Events mit dem zum Heel geturnten EVIL waren nicht nur nicht gut, sondern sogar richtig schlecht. Immerhin gibt es heute aber im Gegensatz zum New-Japan-Cup-Finale auch einiges Gutes auf dieser Card, wie beispielsweise das exzellente Match zwischen SHO und Shingo Takagi und auch in Teilen das Tag Team Title Match. Diesem geht allerdings am Ende etwas die Luft aus, so dass die letzten fünf Minuten vor dem Finish eher wieder Fahrt rausnehmen, anstatt von Anfang bis Ende Schwung aufzubauen. Die erste Hälfte der Show war zudem die Bestätigung dafür, dass die Phase der kürzeren und weniger aufgeblähten New Japan Shows wohl wirklich nur eine Phase war und nun da das Live-Publikum zurückkehrt wieder dreieinhalbstündige Shows auf uns warten, die zu 70 % aus relativ wild zusammengewürfelten Tag Team Matches bestehen. Vor der Corona-Unterbrechung hätte ich dies nicht als großen Kritikpunkt gesehen, aber nun da man gesehen hat, dass die Shows auch ohne dieses Beiwerk funktionieren und sogar besser sein können, finde ich es schon kritikwürdig, dass man zum alten Format zurückkehrt, als wäre nichts gewesen."
[6.0] "Not a bad show per se, but definitely not up to the standard of what is meant to be NJPW's second biggest show of the year. I can be lenient to an extent for COVID, but that doesn't excuse a lot of underwhelming decisions across the card. Only two matches of the seven are worth watching. [Taguchi/Kojima/Nagata vs Kidd/Makabe/Honma] - 2 1/2 stars. [CHAOS vs LiJ] - 2 3/4 stars. [Tenzan/Wato/Uemura vs Suzuki-Gun] - 2 1/2 stars. [CHAOS vs Bullet Club] - 2 stars. [Shingo Takagi vs SHO Tanaka] - 4 1/2 stars (Match of the Night). [Golden Ace vs Dangerous Tekkers) - 4 stars. [Tetsuya Naito vs EVIL] - 1 1/2 stars (Worst of the Night). Average match rating: 2. 82 of 5 stars (or 5. 64 of 10). Rounded to 6 for Cagematch."
[5.0] "Die NJPW PPV-Layouts gefallen mir generell nicht so gut, da man doch immer zu viele Frösche küssen muss, um irgendwann den Prinzen in Form eines sehenswerten oder überhaupt relevanten Matches zu sehen. Die Undercard ist durch die Bank lahm und der Aufbau für Okada/Yujiro ist z. B. gar nicht mein Fall, auch wenn der Mantelwurf ganz nice war. Der Nachteil an den konsequenten Aufbaumatches ist ja, dass es in den Matches immer so fünf Minuten braucht, damit man was Neues sieht und so geht es mir auch mit Sho und Shingo. Deren NJC-Match war gut und daran können sie natürlich irgendwann anknöpfen. Sie liefern ab und mit der Kräfteverteilung kann ich hier schon deutlich besser leben. (***¾) Golden Ace vs. Dangerous Tekkers funktioniert in Teilen wirklich gut, aber das Pacing der Sequenzen ist nicht immer mein Fall. Jedoch können beide Teams ihre Stärken ausspielen. (****) Der Buzz um das Main Event war ja beachtlich und bei den Rahmenbedingungen kann man das natürlich auch verstehen. Das Heel-Work fand ich ganz gut, aber habe so meine Probleme mit dem Verhalten der weiteren LIJ-Jungs. Das Match an sich kann sich dann kaum noch entfalten, aber das ist Teil des Aufbaus und den nehme ich hier einfach mal mit. (**¾) Hiromus Overacting am Ende hatte einen ordentliche Cringe-Faktor. Als Event ist das dann irgendwie okay und da winkt sicherlich auch ein kleiner COVID-Bonus, da die Umstände ja einfach schwierig bleiben."
[6.0] "Ich kann nicht sagen, dass mir die Show sehr gefallen hat, bis auf zwei Matches fand ich den großteil eher mittelmäßig und das ist für die zweitgrößte Show des Jahres, auch in der Pandemie Ära, zu wenig. Die ersten beiden Matches sind nicht erwähnenswert, was schade ist, da man gerade Hiromu hätte auf der Card platzieren können, evtl mit einem Junior Titelmatch. Suzuki Gun vs Wato, Tenzan und Uemura hatte immerhin etwas Story und konnte man so machen, Suzuki Gun als Sieger ist auch gut. Taiji und Yujiro Takahashi vs Okada und Goto war ebenfalls durch die ganze Okada vs BC Fehde recht gut aufgebaut und wirklich überraschenderweise gewinnt hier der Bullet Club, was gut ist. Shingo vs Sho war eines der besten Matches am Abend, da kann man wirklich nicht meckern. In etwa so gut wie das Match beim NJ Cup und man hat Sho hier wriklich trotz Niederlage sehr gut dargestellt. Das rundeste und vielleicht beste Match am Abend. Das andere sehr gute Match war das Tag Team Titelmatch, welches man wirklich sehr gut aufgebaut hat. Und es war so gut wie erwartet, in der jüngsten Vergangenheit hatten wir lange kein so gutes NJPW Tag Team Titelmatch, welches völlig zurecht der CO-ME ist. Über den Titelwechsel kann man sich streiten, mich freut es zwar, dav. a. Taichi hat man sehr gut aufgebaut, aber ich hätte die Golden Aces auch sehr gerne länger mit dem Titel gesehen. Der ME war finde ich nicht gut. Nicht nur, dass Naito hier den Turn mehr hätte sellen müssen, sondern vor allem der Heel Stil von Evil gefallen mir nicht. Das ist zu viel WWE Heel Taktik Wrestling, was ich bei NJPW einfach nicht sehen will und was Evil imo auch nicht nötig hat. Das Match kommt durch die ganzen Eingriffe wenig in Fahrt, aber trotzdem schaffen sie es mit einigen Near Falls dennoch Spannung zu erzeugen. Beim Ergebnis konnte ich meinen Augen nicht trauen. Evil ist tatsächlich double Champ. Gut mal jemand neues aufzubauen, aber mit diesem Match-Stil freue ich mich da wenig. Es bleibt sehr schade für Naito."
[7.0] "Verrückt was auch hier abgeht. Sie gehen all in mit EVIL und Dick Togo (! ) debutiert mit 50 Jahren bei New Japan bzw. kehrt zurück. Holy shit ich kann es immer noch nicht glauben, dass man es durchgezogen hat. Ich sehe es absolut positiv, dass man frischen Wind in den Main Event bringt und bin gespannt wie es weiter geht. Der Main Event selber ist leider nur befriedigend, mehr dazu im Matchguide. Dennoch der größte Upset seit Okadas erstem Titelgewinn. Takagi vs. SHO war erneut großartig und diese Rivalität wird SHOs Karriere nachhaltig beflügeln. Dangerous Tekkers (fantastische Name! ) vs. Golden Ace ist auch gut, vor allem im Finish überzeugend. Der Rest ist solides bis gutes Beiwerk."
[9.0] "Very good PPV from NJPW, the 3 main matches at the end were all at least **** for me. Dangerous Tekkers vs Golden Ace was an absolute classic and i loved every minute of it. The main did its job and go Evil over and got the bullet club back on top"
[7.0] "Der Opener ist okay und dient vor Allem dazu, Kidd weiter over zu bringen. Das zweite Six Man Tag Match finde ich schon echt anständig. Das ist wie ich finde ein guter Mix aus wrestlerischen und Unterhaltungselementen mit verschiedenen Charakteren und zudem ist LIJ gewohnt eingespielt und souverän als Team. Beim Six Man Tag danach muss man sagen, dass es zwar wrestlerisch nicht der Hammer ist aber schon mit Charakteren wie Suzuki-Gun seinen Zweck erfüllt Young Lions wie Wato und Uemura over zu bringen. Wrestlerisch war jedoch sicherlich das Match danach besser, was wirklich anständige Kost brachte. Dann kam das Never Openweight Title Match, was für mich das MOTN. Ich fand es nicht sehr gut weil es nicht die super tiefe Story hatte aber es war wirklich gut und unterhaltsam. Dieses Match war von Anfang bis Ende hart und intensiv und ohne langweilige Passagen. Die beiden haben sich eine Menge an den Kopf geworfen und dabei ihre gute Chemie miteinander bewiesen. Das IWGP Tag Title Match war von der Qualität allerdings auf absolut ähnlichem Niveau. Taichi und ZSJ waren gut in ihrer Rolle als sadistische Techniker und Ibushi und Tanahashi konnten auf der anderen Seite mit ihrer Dynamik glaubhaft zurückkommen. An manchen Stellen ( besonders in der methodischen Phase) war es vielleicht einen kleinen Hauch zu lang aber trotzdem wirklich gut. Zu lang ist ein gutes Stichwort: Das ist die Hauptkritik am ME: An Match dieser Art mit diesem Pacing wäre kürzer glaub ich wesentlich besser gewesen. Ich fand das vom handwerklichen her und der Härte und auch den Bumps die besonders Naito nahm immer noch anständig - aber mehr halt nicht. Mehr als anständig fand ich das Event aber im Gesamten. Es gab die beiden guten Matches und ansonsten - auch wenn man sich vom ME vielleicht mehr hätte erhoffen können - auch kein Lowlight, sodass ich 7 Punkte für angemessen halte."
[8.0] "Considering that Most of the Roster cannot Travel, it was a Decent Show. But 2 things came out of this event. 1, ZSJ Finally wins his First IWGP Title! 2, Hiromu Is Challenging Evil for the Belts, but honestly i wonder what will happen to the rest of BC once They are able to travel again, Will Jay try to get a piece of the belts, will G. O. D Challenge DT for the Belts, Also i kind of hope Hiromu Wins his subsequent title match (probably just for the IC Title)"
[7.0] "My Ratings: Every match before the cleaning break is between **1/2 and **3/4 // SHO vs. Shingo: ****1/4+ // Dangerous Tekkers vs. Golden Aces: ****1/4+ // EVIL vs. Naito: ***-. This was the best SHO/Shingo match out of their trilogy, they gave everything they've got, and the infinite lariats sequence is GOD TIER. Despy going after Shingo made me pop tbh, I can't wait to see the match between them. Tekkers/Aces is amazing, The Taichi and Zack Bromance is so good, they truly deserve the belts. Everyone in this match looked incredible, and the final part with Zack giving Tana 1004 dragon screws looked brutal. Both matches deserve to be the MOTN, I can't decide tbh. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED IN THE MAIN EVENT. The match was a bit baffling with all the interferences, the eye gauges and the ref bumps, but the finish was the most unexpected thing in NJPW since Jay White beating either Tana or Omega. And of course we knew that the BUSHI that came out wasn't BUSHI (I thought it was Yujiro) but not in a million years I would have thought it was DICK FUCKING TOGO, WHAT THE FUCK GEDO YOU ABSOLUTE MAD MAN. We'll be getting Dick Togo in a New Japan ring in 2020, wrestling is so weird man, I love it. And of course, I'm sad for Naito, but so invested in the future, with maybe SANADA challenging and winning the IC belt, or Shingo if he loses to Despy, and Naito maybe winning the G1 and getting back the HW belt in WK... Gedo is crazy, but he pulls off things like this and you can complain at first, but he knows best."
[7.0] "Opener **1/2, Chaos & Tsuji/LIJ **3/4, Suzuki-Gun/Wato, Tenzan & Uemura **1/2, Chaos/Bullet Club **1/4, Sho/Shingo ****1/2, Tag Titles ****, Main Event ***1/2. Ich habe die Show heute morgen live geschaut, jetzt ein bisschen drüber nachgedacht und glaube, dass ich jetzt wieder so weit bin, die Show rational zu bewerten. Vermutlich gab es noch keine Show, die ich live gesehen habe, wo es einen größeren Kopff*ck gab. Die Tag Matches sind da, bauen jetzt nicht groß irgendwas neues auf, abgesehen von Wato gegen Kanemaru, sondern dienen dazu, die Card etwas voller zu machen. Weiterhin verstehe ich nicht, warum ausgerechnet Yujiro jetzt gepusht wird, Goto besiegt ihn vor drei Wochen clean im Cup und verliert jetzt hier in nem Random Tag Match. Sho und Shingo liefern dann wieder ab. Das war vermutlich noch ein bisschen besser als ihr Cup Match, was einfach an der Komponente Crowd lag. Ab dem One Kickout beim Pumping Bomber war ich hier voll drin und stand durchgehend. Desperado ist der nächste Herausforderer, schön, dass das Openweight Motto jetzt wieder vermehrt in den Fokus gelangt. Das folgende Tag Title Match ist das beste seit gefühlten Ewigkeiten für die Heavyweight Titel. Vielleicht noch etwas zu lang, aber trotzdem auf einen absoluten Superniveau mit guter Heel/Face-Dynamik, und generell einer super Chemie, die die zwei Teams hier erzeugen. Mit Dangerous Tekkers als neuen Champs kann ich leben, Tana und Ibushi können wieder Richtung Main Event gehen. Zu dem kommen wir jetzt: Erstmal fand ich das Match der beiden wirklich gut. Wie erwartet hat der Turn gestern ertws völlig neues ins Match gebracht, was mir gefiel. Der "Schüler" Evil, der übrigens einen sehr geilen neuen Entrance hat, und sich hier gegen seinen Meister Naito stemmt, weil er erkennt, dass er woanders stärker sein kann, ist gut. Naito als Face mit einigen Comebacks funktioniert auch. Im Gegensatz zum Vortag bringt mich auch der erste Eingriff nicht raus, weil Hiromu recht schnell für Ordnung sorgt. Dann kommt das Finish: Ich habe noch nie so extrem erlebt, wie vom einen auf den anderen Moment sich die Energie in der Arena komplett ändert. Selbst bei Jay White im letzten Jahr war es nicht so krass. Für mich der größte Upset in New Japans jüngerer Vergangenheit. Nach dem Match joint dann noch Dick Togo dem Bullet Club. Ein Urteil gebe ich hier noch nicht ab, dafür hab ich von ihm zu wenig gesehen. Hiromu nach dem Match dann als erster Challenger. Die Titelsituation ist komisch, Hiromu hält selber noch den Junior Title, geht jetzt für minimum einen Heavyweight Titel, den Six Man und den Jr. Heavyweight Title muss man eigentlich vakantieren. Ich bin tatsächlich das erste Mal etwas skeptisch, was die Zukunft von New Japan angeht, auch wenn wir hier am Ende eine gute Show gesehen haben."
[6.0] "Für die zweitgrößte Show von New Japan war das nicht viel. Die Undercard ist nicht wirklich erwähnenswert und der Main Event dann für New Japan Verhältnisse schwach. Nur das Never und das Tag Team Titel Match war gut."
[3.0] "We were so worried about WWE: Japan that we didn't realize NJPW had already become WWE: Japan. Weak undercard, joke of a main event, three points for the two other title matches though, those were alright. But still, really bad show for the most part."
[7.0] "Considering the circumstances, NJPW have put on a good show. - The LIJ/CHAOS tag match was fun, showed different side to LIJ after a betrayal the night before, set up Hiromu nicely for the post-match angle in the main event. - Shingo/SHO delivered yet another MOTYC match, this two have enough chemistry that they keep me wanting more. - Golden Ace/Dangerous Tekkers have been the best IWGP Tag feud in years, and the match didn't disappoint. DT winning the belts is the right decision imo. - While Naito/EVIL wasn't an excting in-ring action, the story of the match more than made up for it. the shock title switch & debut of Dick Togo made me excited for EVIL's title reign."
[7.0] "There were some good moments in those tag team matches, you'd expect more title or important matches but Covidmania is still running wild so I can understand. The NEVER Openweight and Tag Team title matches were great and really upped my rating for this show. Main event was alright, could've been better but I'm not saying I was disappointed because I knew it was going to be another Bullet Club run-in match. I wasn't expecting EVIL to win the titles, so at least it wasn't predictable."
[7.0] "Solide Show mit Schockerende. Die Undercard war wie es zu erwarten war mit angebrachter Matchlänge. Sho vs Shingo war dann mein MOTN - unglaublich gute Schlacht zwischen den beiden. Sho hält seine Mimik auch etwas in Zaum. Dann kam wohl das beste IWGP Tag Team Match seit längerer Zeit. Das war einfach ganz schön anzusehen und die Zeit verging auch im Flug. Beim Main Event spalten sich die Meinungen - Shenanigans waren zu erwarten und die haben dann auch teilweise gut die Luft aus der Halle gelassen. Wrestlerisch harmonierten die beiden allerdings Stellenweise richig gut."
[7.0] "Watching this show live was fun, but what really struck to me, personally, is that the old stereotype that 'Japanese crowd doesn't make any noise" should be put to rest after this show. This crowd was given a ton of reasons to voice their displeasure (how the fuck can one tolerate Yujiro pinning Goto? what is this shit? ), but the "no cheering" rule in the venue made events that were happening in the last two matches very surreal and strange. Without their booing it just wasn't the same. NEVER title match was very good, not the best in Takagi/SHO series, Tag Team titles match had some great action, but again, needed some crowd reaction. Whatever happened in the Main Event will be talked about for a while, but personally, I had a good, healthy laugh seeing EVIL carrying both belts, and I'm grateful for that."
[7.0] "[SPOILERS] It was a very solid show. The undercard tag matches were all decent-to-good, though I will say the last 3 matches made the rating for me. SHO/Shingo was a frigging fantastic NEVER strong style match, and the fact that El Desperado is the new challenger for it makes me extremely happy (****. 5). The tag match between Taichi/ZSJ and Tanahashi/Ibushi was also pretty great, the last 10 minutes of the match putting it over for me as perhaps one of the best tag title matches I've seen NJPW has ever had to offer, and I think the right people won (****. 25). The main event...... its alot to unpack. First off, I think EVIL looks good in his new attire and his new theme is good too (though he should lose the Awesome Kong tutu lol). The match itsef, even though it was slow at times, never felt like it plodded as I felt Okada/EVIL did yesterday or even Naito/KENTA did earlier in the year. The match itself was serviceable, though I'm sure the result of the match will overshadow what people will feel about the match itself. I... dont really know how to feel about EVIL winning the IWGP title(s). I don't hate the decision and I understand the necessity for establishing BC as a threat again since most of its members are stuck abroad..... but at the same time, it does make Naitos whole coronation and title reign feel like a massive waste. The match itself was good (better than Naito/KENTA for sure), but the result still has me scratching my head. Maybe Gedo knows what hes doing? He has my curiosity though, thats for damn sure. (***. 5)"
[7.0] "I think the show was solid. The uppercard, while not WK or traditional Dominion quality, was serviceable given what they have available and the undercard was fun. At this point BC endings don't piss me off because I know what to expect, and hey, at least the wrestlers involved with said interference now are better quality, with EVIL/Togo/Ishimori involved. Better than Fale. Fun show, especially the NEVER and Tag title matches."
[7.0] "By far the most polarizing aspect of this show is the main event ending. Let's talk about the rest of the show first. The non-title matches were all solid. The Sho vs Shingo match was great, worthy of a 4. 25 star rating at least. The tag title match was long, but the final ten minutes were so great that I feel like it deserves a 4-star rating too. The main event was even longer, but I was really enjoying it for 35 minutes. Evil's entrance and new look are amazing. The match was very good storytelling and blew by quickly. Then that ending happened. It was overbooked. It was weird, it was surreal, and the match result was shocking. It will divide a lot of fans. Some will love it, a lot will hate it, and quite a few will be heartbroken but curious to see how it all plays out. Count me into the latter category. To recap, this was a good show. There were no bad matches. The undercard was solid, the NEVER title match was great and the tag title match had a great final third to it that made it a really good/great match too. The main event was fantastic in my opinion, until the shocking ending. I cannot trash the show just because of the ending. Graded as a whole, this show is a 7. 5 or so. I understand why people are angry and upset at the ending, but that doesn't make this a bad show."

[5.0] "Tag Team Matches waren alle unterhaltsam, aber nichts besonderes. Einzig Wato stach wieder sehr positiv heraus. Dann war Shingo gegen Sho richtig geil. Das Tag Titel Match war auch super stark. Und als der Bullet Club vom Ring entfernt wurde, dachte ich dass der Main Event nur geil werden kann. Man war ich naiv. BC ist so nervig und versaut das ganze Match. Ohne die Eingriffe hätte ich vielleicht besser mit dem Evil-Sieg leben können. So versaut er mit das Match und da es der Main Event war auch so ein bisschen die Show. Auch danach war es komisch. Warum Hiromu als Challenger? Der sollte seinen Titel lieber selber verteidigen. Und wo war der Rest von LIJ?"
[7.0] "Besser als am Vortag: Das NEVER und Tag Team Title Match waren sehr gut. Bullet Club EVIL mit beiden Top Title brauche ich nicht und wirkt mehr wie ein reiner Schocker. Das kennt man so von NJPW Main Event Szene eher nicht."
[7.0] "This is an odd one. There was no exceptional match on the card to me and the main event was kind of disappointing but the show still sent me home feeling like it was major just with its storyline developments. Overall I feel like a 7 is appropriate but this may well change after some reflection."
