[5.0] "Just a very average show that isn't even worth watching. I know that sounds harsh but it was just a very forgettable and predictable show with no match above mediocre. BUSHI/YOH (***) - Mediocre junior match. Some timing issues but there were some decent exchanges near the end. YOSHI/Tenzan (***1/4) - A nothing special match but better than i expected. Really good strike exchanges but it went a bit too long. 8 Man Tag match (***1/2) - If there's one thing i would recommend from this show it's the segments between Hiromu and Yano. This stuff is absolutely gold. Yano chasing Hiromu around the arena with a razor and taping his feet together was more enjoyable than anything else on the card. The match itself had some good exchanges too. Goto/Yujiro (**3/4) - Just as bland and forgettable as it looked on paper. Some nice fire shown by Goto but that's about it. EVIL/Kojima (***1/2) - I was a slight bit disappointed by this because i expected them to have a great match. It was just very good though with decent performances by both guys."
[6.0] "My Ratings: BUSHI vs. YOH: **3/4 // Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. YOSHI-HASHI: ***1/4 // 4 vs 4: *** // Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro Takahashi: **3/4 // Satoshi Kojima vs. EVIL: ***1/2 (MOTN). A really mediocre night, maybe the worst so far, where every match wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. The best parts were the Hiromu/Yano stuff and the main event."
[7.0] "This show didn't have any real standout matches imo, but was a consistently good show. BUSHI vs YOH was a strong opener with good sequences and a strong finish: ***1/2-. YOSHI-HASHI vs Tenzan was way better than it should have been, I was completely prepared to be bored going into this match, but these two put together a very good brawl and it was the best I've seen from either of these two in a while: ***3/4-. CHAOS vs LIJ was so much fun, had some great in ring sequences and the stuff with Yano and Hiromu was hysterical, I honestly didn't care about Yano vs Hiromu before this and now I honestly might be looking forward to it more than any other match in the next night: ***1/2+. Goto vs Yujiro was very forgettable, solid in ring work but the flow was pretty bad: **1/2+. EVIL vs Kojima was really good, these two put together some great sequences and even though their were a few flow issues, it ended up being very good: ***3/4-."
[6.0] "So far the worst show since NJPW came back, but it wasn't as bad as expected. - YOH/BUSHI disappointed, looked like both of them were injured - YH/Tenzan surprised, and while I still think YOSHI-HASHI is a charisma vacuum, and Tenzan can barely move they managed to put together a decent match. - Goto/Yujiro wasn't that interesting but not completely awful, loved the top rope reverse GTR from Goto. - EVIL/Kojima disappointed a little bit in term of the in-ring work, also I wanted Kojima to move on in the tournament but it's probably the correct decision for EVIL to win. Match of the night for me was the fun tag match with Yano/Hiromu shenanigans. Overall, not a terrible show but nothing to go out of your way to watch."
[5.0] "Better than i expected, i'll give them that, but still just decent. The opener was sloppy, Bushi failing to care to sell the leg properly drove me mad as hell. Yoshi-Hashi vs Tenzan was a surprising highlight, not spetacular but a hard fought bout anyway. The tag team match was there more to showcase Hiromu vs Yano and it was wonderful at that, can't wait for their match. (And... is it too much to dream of Yano winning and a rematch at Dominion with a cabellera vs cabellera stipulation? ). Goto vs Yujiro too was better than i was expecting, but this one was just decent. EVIL vs Kojima followed the mantra of the day of just being decent, hard fought and all that but it lacked... something."
[6.0] "This show was fine overall. If you skip this show you're not missing much, but I will say that Goto/Yujiro was better than I expected and the main event was enjoyable because Kojima at nearly 50 can still go and Evil works well with other hosses. Bonus points to everything that happened between Yano and Hiromu. I was nearly in tears. I cannot wait for that match."
[5.0] "I was told that this was the worst night of the New Japan Cup 2020 so far, but to be honest, this isn't as bad as people were saying all over Twitter, Reddit and Facebook, you know? It even had a very fun 4v4 match to watch with two gold comedy workers. Also, I hope YOSHI-HASHI vs Hiroyoshi Tenzan gets into the recommended, 'cause it was a very decent match and had its moments."
