[6.0] "Pretty successful Rumble! Triple H/Orton was really the only match that dragged it down. The opener was very good, Taker/Heidenreich at least had entertaining moments, and the Smackdown title match wasn't amazing but was better than expected. And of course, the Rumble itself might very well be in the top 5 in company history. While I wouldn't say this is a legendary event, it is a very good one and well worth your time."

The Rumble is great, the triple threat is really good and Edge/HBK is solid. Didn't love HHH/Orton but it was okay enough to keep my interest. This is an all-time classic compared to most of the 2004 PPVs."

[6.0] "Pretty fun show. Only offense was the casket match but even that wasn't as bad as I was expecting and the opener was pretty disappointing considering who was in it. The world title matches were solid but neither really stood the test of time as memorable. Of course most people remember the royal rumble ppvs for the titular match and this is one of my favorites not just for the star power involved and the choice of winner but the absolute infamous shambles of a finish. A climax so botched that it did the full 180 and became iconic"

[7.0] "A solid card from top to bottom with the only real miss being the Taker/Heidenreich match, and the rumble match itself a solid main event that really showcased a new crop of top guys really well. In my opinion Edge was the MVP of the night with the big win over Michaels to start the show and then ending his outing by eliminating multiple big names in the rumble and being in the final 3. The WWE Title match was solid and better to me personally than the World Heavyweight Title match that immediately followed. 3.5 stars."

The two championship matches are quite good despite the Orton Vs HHH being a bit long. The Rumble is quality although I find that we forget it quite easily over time. The backstage segments are good, funny and make us want to see the Rumble match. Very few commercials so it goes quickly. MOTN: Edge Vs HBK (4*)"

[7.0] "Royal Rumble PPVs very rarely miss and it wasn't different here. A very solid show with no bad stuff. The opener was the best match of the night - I loved the build and Michaels made sure that Edge didn't rush anything, plus he was really feeling himself in his heel gimmick. Then the Casket Match wasn't bad, although obviously Heidenreich had his limitations here, the Triple Threat Match was a nicely structured bout for the title with JBL once again excelling in his heel role and Triple H vs Orton was a little too long with Randy slowly losing his heat, but it was still a competent wrestling contest. And then the Royal Rumble Match was fine and even though it lacked some star power in the middle, the overall impression was positive. Also the finish was a fantastic example of a perfect cover up for a botch and the winner was the right choice. So a good PPV that left you hanging and made you want to see the continuation of the Evolution storyline."

[9.0] "I think this is a great show and so close to being a top tier royal rumble ppv the best part of the show are shawn michaels vs edge the triple threat wwe title match, the world heavyweight championship and a fantastic royal rumble match that is really famous for having historic spot especially vince tearing his quad the only thing keeping this from a ten is the casket match if undertaker had faced anybody else I think this would have been a great match but this is still a great ppv."

The Rumble match itself had a botched finish, but it's still a memorable and entertaining moment because of a pissed off Vince blowing both his quads getting the match restarted. Other than that its a typically entertaining match with a lot of talent in there and some good storylines coming together for Wrestlemania with Batista ending up with the win. I also enjoyed the Edge vs HBK opener and the JBL/Angle/Big Show Triple Threat was also a lot of fun and very chaotic which was fitting for how it was built up every week on Smackdown. Triple H vs Randy Orton kinda told the story they was going for well enough, but I don't like the whole storyline concussion angle here and Undertaker v Heidenreich in a Casket Match is about as meh as it sounds. Despite a hit and miss undercard, the Rumble has always been the draw with this PPV and it doesn't disappoint."

[6.0] "The Rumble itself was mostly solid and helped solidify Batista as a singles star, with a somewhat memorable conclusion with Batista and Cena's simultaneous elimination and Vince, from the mat as he injured both legs entering the ring, refusing to allow another Bret/Luger situation and instead restarting with just those two, and featured some other memorable moments like London's elimination by Snitsky and the hazing of Daniel Puder. The Rumble is also notable for featuring a large number of "project" guys that for one reason or another never went as far as was clearly hoped (at least in WWE; some have done well since elsewhere), such as Dupree, Suzuki, Luther Reigns, Jordan and Jindrak. The undercard was also decent, with HHH vs. Orton probably being the best of the lot (Orton's selling at the end was great certainly helped make him a sympathetic babyface at the time). HBK vs Edge and Bradshaw vs Angle vs Show were also OK. Solid if not especially memorable Rumble show."

[3.0] "This show was terrible, I used to love watching it as a kid but as an adult looking at this objectively, It's not a good show whatsoever. The real highlights are the Triple Threat match, Taker doing the Guillotine Leg Drop to Heidenreich in the casket, and Paul London getting his head taken off, But I wouldn't go out of my way to tell my friends to watch this show because of those moments, because they'd have to sit through a boring Edge vs. Shawn match, a laughably bad Casket match, a boring Triple H title match, and a Rumble that wasn't that good. Also there's just a lot of moments on this show that didn't age well in modern eyes, even back then the homophobic raps by Cena & then Hassan getting eliminated by everyone was because he was middle eastern uncomfortable to me. I highly do not recommend re-watching this show, watch a better Rumble."
