[9.0] "Really strong go home show for Backlash because of the superb main event as well as the build up to it throughout the show. Shelton Benjamin in particular shows some really good fire to him as well and there's a great moment after Bischoff makes the PPV match between Flair and Benjamin, Benjamin ambushes him almost immediately taking a page out of the veterans book. Mick Foley is also very intense in the opening segment of the show where he brings back his alter-ego Cactus Jack. Later in the show there's also a great video package of Foley's death matches over in Japan and then it cuts to Randy, who looks scared of him. Triple H, Benoit and Michaels all do a short separate segment, hyping themselves up for the triple threat rematch. The focus of the show being on the three biggest rivalries of the PPV is a great way to hype things up all show, and the main event match it builds to is really chaotic in the best way possible. Elsewhere they keep things simple with the Kane vs Edge rivalry where Kane destroys a returning Grand Master Sexay and later on Edge spears Jonny Nitro. Lita and Trish have a decent match here as well even though it is an angle for the Jericho vs Christian/Trish feud. There's also Eugene showing up all over the place on the show, and while I'm a bit mixed on the character, I do like Regal a lot as the foil. He's great in a role like that. The only real weakness with the show is Tajiri feuding with Coach."

[7.0] "Foley's promo at the start of the show was really strong. Lita vs Trish was good while it lasted and a good TV match. There isn't much wrestling here, but at least all of the segments helped to build toward backlash. The main event was great, and the show ending with all 3 guys in the main event of Backlash staring each other down was cool."

[7.0] "The main event was great, as you can tell by the 4 star rating from Dave Meltzer and the 7.97 average from the cagematch reviewers. However, that was 19 minutes (closer to 30 with entrances and post-match stuff) out of a 2 hour show."

[7.0] "A strong show, mainly because of the main event and really good Backlash hype. The rest of the show didn't stand out at all, especially the Tajiri comedy match and Sexay's short-lived return."

[8.0] "Storylines were king here. Awesome TV main event. Grandmaster Sexay return was nice even though it ends up being very brief."

[8.0] "Good go home show, the main event is great fun but I also liked the women's match a lot, at least for the time it got. Nice build for Backlash, the top storylines were really hot and the crowd was rocking."
