[8.0] "The first half of the show (plus the Dustin match) was never awful, but also never got into that next gear, with MJF vs Jungle Boy being the best of them. But once Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida started wrestling, things finally ramped up. That match was great, and one of the best women's matches so far (up to DoN 2020) in AEW. Mox and Brodie Lee didn't quite reach those peaks but still provided a fun match. And then Stadium Stampede absolutely lived up to the expectations with a really creative and funny main event that was an absolute blast to watch, definitely my overall MOTN. While I don't think Stadium Stampede is quite as good as the best matches of the last two PPVs (Omega vs Mox and the Bucks vs Hangman and Omega), it's very much in the splitting hairs category, and this PPV also didn't have something as bad as the Dustin vs Hager match from Revolution, so I can't complain! A great show overall, and one that I imagine hit even better in the context of being two months into the pandemic."

[3.0] "Im sure this was great during the pandemic when this sort of thing was the only escape from the horrors outside your window, but watching it back years later it just wasnt for me man. A lot of the matches here were ruined by bad comedy bits, the ladder match at the start and the Spears/Dustin match being prime examples, but Id apply that same logic to the Stadium Stampede match. Way to kill a hot angle by paying it off with a silly spotfest. At least this had a well booked womens match to balance out the terrible one before it, which is more than I can say for other AEW PPVs so far. Only reason its not even lower is because of that MJF/Jungle Boy match being great, but even that has problems. Hoping this level of quality doesnt continue into the rest of the AEW pandemic years."

[8.0] "Up until the final three matches, this show had been a failure. The opening ladder match sucked and the Cody vs. Archer was super boring. Jungle Boy vs. MJF definitely overdelivered and turned out to be a great match. However it wasn't enough to save the show as there were also filler matches like Statlander vs. Ford or Rhodes vs. Spears that I would've done without. But the final three matches make up for the rest of the show as each and every single one of them delivered. Shida vs. Rose was an excellent David vs. Goliath match, Moxley vs. Brodie Lee was a slobber knocker and the Stadium Stampede was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life, let alone wrestling. The final three matches and the surprising MJF vs. Jungle Boy outshine the bads of the show (which were really bad by the way) and create a really enjoyable night of action. Not amongst the best AEW Pay-Per-Views but definitely a good one that during the Pandemic was a breath of fresh air from every day's life and that still holds up well to this day. 8/10"

I found the Card to be dragging along until the Final 2 Matches which we're the only ones I was excited to see. The Only Matches I genuinely enjoyed were the Opening Ladder Match which while a bit sloppy was still a creative & unique Match style that I enjoyed. The Main Event was also a Fun Watch & cool to see a Match in an Empty Stadium but 9.22 is outrageously overrating it. The Women's Match & the AEW World Championship Matches were good but I found their Endings to be a bit eh so I also feel they're Overrated. Lance Archer was a Bore for Me even with Jake The Snake by his Side I'm hoping I don't see him getting a Big Push in Proceeding Events."

[8.0] "Honestly this is a almost perfect show, the battle royale has a couple of good spots in it but nothing special, the biggest thing to come out of it was Cage's debut. MJF vs JG overdelivered quite a lot and it was one of the highlights of the show. Cody vs Lance Archer was good but nothing special. The next two matches were honestly the low point of the show for me but not enough to drag the show down. The last 3 matches were all great and seeing Shida get the W was very cool. Moxley and Brodie had a great brawl and the Stadium Stampede Match is what all cinematic matches should strive for."

[6.0] "If you don't like and/or accept the main event as pro wrestling, like me, this is a pretty underwhelming show. A couple of good matches in MJF vs Jungle Boy and Moxley vs Brodie Lee, but everything else was meh at best and even those two weren't special or anything, merely good. It doesn't help that most of the main event scene is tied up in that main event, which results in a lack of main event talent on the rest of the card. I won't count the main event against the PPV, because once again it is not professional wrestling, so it's a decent PPV, nothing too bad but nothing too special either"
Michael Morbius wrote on 06.06.2023:
[8.0] "The opening ladder match wasn't very good as it was too long, boring and without many great spots. Mjf vs. Jungle Boy was a great match with a scrappy ending but still an amazing showcase for the two future stars of the company. The middle prat of the show was pretty bad: Cody vs. Archer was underwhelming with the wrong winner, Statlander vs. Ford was bad and Rhodes vs Spears was rather an angle than a match but it was still bad. Rose vs. Shida was pretty good, Moxley vs. Lee was a fantastic match that established Mox as the face of the company and the Stadium Stampede was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Overall: the show had some great matches and fantastic main event but the middle card was pretty bad."

[6.0] "Such disparity between both ends of the card, couldn't get into any of the first five matches, even though some of them had wrestlers whose work I usually enjoy quite a lot. The stadium stampede and both world title matches did turn it around for me, strong ending to what ended up being a decent show."
wesereit wrote on 17.01.2022:
[6.0] "This is better in the context of when it came out, but on its own it's not very impressive. The ladder match has its moments but pales in comparison to the first few money in the bank ladder matches. Ford/Stat and Spears/Rhodes are filler, which is something you never see on AEW PPVs these days. Nyla/Shida is fine enough. I didn't like Cody/Archer all that much, which leaves Moxley/Brodie as the only very good match. Of course the stadium stampede is great and saves this from a lower rating."
Prince Osborne wrote on 31.12.2021:
[8.0] "This was a very good PPV from AEW under the pandemic circumstances. The toughness of handling matches without crowd heat was seen clearly at certain points but they've managed to give us an entertaining show in a week that was considered as one of the darkest ones in the pandemic era where gems like Shad Gaspard and Hana Kimura were sacrificed. The matches were solid with two matches (Kris vs Ford & Dustin vs Spears) being fillers while all the others were good to very great. Jungle Boy vs MJF was my MOTN while the Stadium Stampede can't be considered as a match but a wild, befitting addition to the cinematic match lineage from AEW."

[8.0] "Good show overall. While we may be nearing the saturation point for cinematic matches, the Stadium Stampede was at least an entertaining example of one, with lots of fun spots and ultimately became a more coherent whole than the recent MITB matches. The rest of the card was solid, with decent World and TNT Title matches in Moxley-Lee and Cody-Archer respectively, a strong Women's Title win for Shida against Rose, a solid debut for Cage in a fun car-crash ladder match opener, and a very good showcase match between young talents in MJF-Jungle Boy. A few minor points didn't quite land - notably the D. Rhodes-Spears match - but overall one of the stronger events of the COVID era."

[9.0] "Lets start with the Casino Ladder Match, Cage winning the match was no surprise in my opinion, the match overall was fine but not great considering they could have done better with the squad of talented wrestlers. MJF vs Jungle Boy was so amazing that it cannot bore you even for a moment, MJF continued his streak, for once I thought Jungle Boy was going to win (****1/2). TNT Title match was a bit overstretched considering that ending in my opinion. Nonetheless it was fine (***1/2). Statlander vs Ford felt like a Aew Dynamite opener, nothing more than that (**). Hikaru vs Nyla was one of the best things on the card and they didnt disappoint, happy for Shida (***3/4). Moxley vs Lee, these two aren't any top 10 wrestlers in the world but they showed heart in their match, they gave their 100% and that's what I loved the most about the match, grit baby grit (****1/4). Next: the best thing on the card Stadium Stampede! Man this was so entertaining and so much fun seeing The Elite take Inner Circle to rounds all over the arena. Matt Hardy pool versions, northern lights 100 yards, One Winged Angel in the end & so much more. Overall a pay per view you need to keep on watch for a long long time just like majority of AEW PPVs, they don't disappoint!"

Shida/Nyla and Cody/Archer were nothing special but fine. The Casino Ladder Match, Statlander/Ford, and Dustin/Spears didn't impress me at all and were the weak points of the show. Overall this was really good despite some flaws and it's high points were really high."

The opener still had its issues, but worked a lot better than the casino battle royale matches, whilst MJF vs Jungle Boy was another good match between the pair. The show also closed strongly with the final three matches all being at least good, with the main event in particular being very entertaining and the best of the cinematic matches so far."

[8.0] "Great Show, Great enviroment, great way to mask the crowd absence. I really think this is the best PPV made during Covid Lockdown. Not a bad match, every match was stellare and I think the Main Event was probably the best "cinematographic" match made in this period of rescriction and quarantene. I was happy to see Brian Cage, I loved MJF vs Jungle Boy and I thought it was Amazing as a moves Execution etc, Really great, quite possibly the best no crowd match made in this three month. Great MAtch between Cody and Archer, I loved it as a Storytelling and with the finish even if Tyson seemed a little confused at the time keeper table. Mox vs Brodie Lee was Fantafreaking Astic. Incredible how Lee as worker reminds me the good old Bruiser Brody and Mox is quite possibly the Superstar of the year for this weird 2020. The Main Event Amazing, probably a little bit comedy this is the Elitè Style so it's ok. Hikaru vs Nyla Roose was good and I think that a great thing about AEW unlike WWE is the ability and the will to use Japanese Wrestlers probably gived by the fact that the founders are really loyal to the Japanese Pro Wrestling. Only thing I did not enjoy was the match between Spears and Dustin. I really think that as a Real Wrestling Match it could easly be a Showstealer but AEW Wanted to make it comedy probably to use it as a break between the two parts of the show. Kris Statlander vs Penelope Ford was ok. I have to congrats with Samy Guevara. I don't like him, but he is a great bump machine and he took insane bumps during the Stadium Stampede especially the One Wing Angel. I see him as the Jobber of the Inner Circle, but as an athletic point of view he is great and he is always selfless during his matches as a Workrate point of view. Congrats to everybody. also the stage, the set seemed more "PPV style" than all the WWE Shows during Covid Lockdown restrictions."

[9.0] "Casino Ladder Match (6/10) - Definitely a little disappointing, but an overall good match to start the show. Great intro for Brian Cage. MJF v. Jungle Boy (8/10) - Great encounter, one of those matches that will be talked about as a breakthrough performance for both. Cody v. Lance Archer (7/10) - Another really good match, Cody took some crazy bumps, Archer looked mental. Cody deserved that W. Kris Statlander v. Penelope Ford (5/10) - A fine match, great seeing Ford continue to sell the bumps from her ladder match interference. Dustin Rhodes v. Shawn Spears (2/10) - Dustin looks good still, Spears gets some comeuppance, not much of a match though. Nyla Rose v. Hikaru Shida (8/10) - More proof that these ladies are great wrestlers, Shida goes over, Nyla looks good in defeat! Jon Moxley v. Mr. Brodie Lee (8/10) - So much action crammed into a shorter amount of time than expected. Lee is a monster, and Mox is unstoppable. The Elite & Matt Hardy v. The Inner Circle (10/10) - Nonstop fun, legit made me smile and laugh so much. Hell yeah Stadium Stampede!"

Clocked in at nearly 30 minutes though, a bit too long. (***) //// MJF vs Jungle Boy was a pleasant surprise. It was two young rising stars showcasing their skills and they did it well. (****1/2) //// Cody vs Archer was not as bad as I thought it would be but that's not saying much. Far too long and pretty boring in spots. (***) //// Statlander vs Ford sucked. (3/4*) //// Rhodes vs Spears sucked. (DUD) //// Shida vs Rose was a pretty good monster heel vs babyface match, pretty good spots throughout. (***1/2) //// Moxley vs Lee was my match of the night, an awesome and brutal brawl where both guys looked like beasts. (****1/2) //// Stadium Stampede was super fun, I was entertained throughout. Won't give a star rating but will give 9/10 (losing one point cuz of the drowning spot not even a week after Shad Gaspard's passing)."

MJF/Jungle Boy was decent, Cody/Lancer was not great at all, really not helped with the reaction of Tyson yawning halfway through, Statlander/Ford was okay but Statlander's gimmick is bad... has she been playing too much Star Gladiator? Rhodes/Spears was a character assassination. Spears to me is now totally done. Shida/Rose was good, the best match so far and Moxley/Lee was alright. The Stampede match made staying up worth it. Some amazing stuff in it but even that wasn't enough to make this PPV a good one."

Great PPV"

[7.0] "AEW not always deliver in the ring as their strong build up would seem to imply. But for sure their PPV feel like something special, notwithstanding of the actual in-ring quality. Casino Ladder Match: *** (funny match, but too long and too chaotic in some parts to aspire at something more); MJF vs. Jungle Boy: ****1/4 (MOTN, fantastic storytelling, MJF smirking at Jungle Boy Jack's (cit. ) arm onto the rope before working on it made my day, as well as the finisher. Excellent heel vs. babyface match); Cody vs. Lance Archer: **3/4 (solid stuff, but the overbooked conclusion was shit); Kris Statlander vs- Penelope Ford: **; Dustin Rhodes vs. Shawn Spears: * (comedy bullshit); Hikaru Shida vs. Nyla Rose: ***1/2 (really good match, with Shida shining and Rose finally stepping up. I didn't see the title change coming, but I'm glad of it); Jon Moxley vs. Mr. Brodie Lee: **** (I loved this, it was an intense old school brawl that instantly reminded me of Taker vs. HHH at WM 17... and this is a HUGE compliment. Brodie's in-character work was really good, and the final stretch was super. Good job); Stadium Stampede Match: frankly, I don't know how to rate this. All I know is that it was a lot of fun, and innovative in many ways. It is not something I would enjoy every month, but it was good due to the circumstances, with some instant classics. Overall, this cinematic approach could provide a new lifeline to the business, but I don't know if I'm ready for it, as I feel many promotions will keep on proposing it it even when, hopefully, the current situation will end."

[7.0] "The ladder match was a pretty fun opener, exactly what it should have been. MJF and Jungle Boy had a decent match, but nothing special. Cody vs Archer was fine, but a bit lackluster, plus the belt is ugly. Penelope and Statlander had a TV quality match on a PPV, but it wasn't bad considering there was a last minute replacement. Dustin and Spears had a short, nothing happening match that felt like their plan was "let's just do all these moves in less than 5 minutes and go home". Nyla vs Shida match was good, but really hard to get into and watch after the graphic reminding me of Hana. Mox and Brody had a very good match with a nice finish, even though the outcome of the match was predictable from the start. Elite vs Inner Circle was by far the most interesting match on the show. It was a combination of a brawl, crazy spots and a lot of comedy, which really helped take my mind off things. Overall, a fine PPV, but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I would rate it higher if I watched it some other time."

[8.0] "I loved this show! Overall a better show from top to bottom than Revolution, and has me really excited to keep watching Dynamite weekly. The first half was decent, but the final 3 matches are amazing. Ratings: Casino Ladder Match: (***1/2): this was a decent ladder match with some fun and brutal spots. Really liked the Orange Cassidy comedy spots, Brian Cage had a great debut, and Darby continues to amaze and terrify me in the ring. MJF v Jungle Boy: (****) the best match that came out of nowhere. These two are the future for a reason. Only thing that held it back for me was the lack of a proper build and no real stakes involved. Best pure wrestling match on the card. Cody v Archer: (***): Not my favorite Cody match, but it just felt standard to me. Nothing special, and I guess I was expecting more out of both of them. The overbooking of the match didn't work for me like MJFvCody did. Statlander v Ford: (**1/2). Decent match, and due to Baker's injury they did okay for a last minute put together match. But felt like a standard match on Dynamite, not really PPV worthy. Dustin v Spears: (*1/2): the promo work was great, and the squash was great for rebounding Dustin's momentum, but could have done without Spear's bare a** getting spanked on TV. Rose v Shida: (****1/2). HOLY SHIDA what a match! I loved the brutal spots, the character work by Nyla, and the great finish by Shida for the win. Moxley v Lee: (****). Really good title match, and Mox's best match of 2020 by far. This match also made Lee a much better character than any of the promos or buildup, I also liked the unique finish. Stadium Stampede Match: (****** MOTN). I don't even have words for how great this was. Even my roommates who don't watch wrestling came into the room and couldn't stop watching. It was so fun and was worth the price of the PPV on it's own."

From start to finish the action was fun, high paced, exciting, unpredictable and above all else it was wrestling! Ladder match was one that when planned would have seemed a guaranteed 5*, but a lot of the spots were hit or miss and a few misses, especially the finishing sequence deflated it a bit. And it does appear that signing on a for AEW matters a lot more than the much promoted "wins matter" when it comes to getting a title shot, Brodie and now Cage. AEW really has nailed down creating a genuine big match atmosphere and that vibe permeated throughout this show. Nothing felt out of place, even the two "filler matches", which I suppose must be easier to achieve without the fickleness of a real crowd. The creative decisions made this the PPV of the year so far, by some distance. Anyone moaning about it, is either a Millennial dumbass or just a div."

The ladder match seemed to want to recreate the chaos from TLC 2 with all of the run-ins, but it just felt flat to me. TLC 2 worked so well because the spots were cool and the pacing was great. It's why the run-ins worked for that match. They hit the right beat to bring about the third act. Another problem with this ladder match was that the typical problem of multi-man ladder matches it people lying around doing nothing for too long. Turns out that only gets worse when there's a timer between participants. Disappointing match. MJF vs Jungle Boy and Archer vs Cody both dragged. Ford vs Statlander and Dustin vs Spears were nothing matches but a decent enough break-up for the card. The final three matches are where the show really kicked off and saved it from becomming a disaster. My overall rating is "Satisfactory", which I guess is not bad for a near 4 hour show. Recommended: Really just the Stadium Stampede match, which I can't rate as a match but it was entertaining. If you have more time but not enough for the whole card, watch from Rose vs Shida onwards."

[7.0] "Very good wrestling content but bad booking decisions. In one show , Archer, Spears, Brodie Lee and The Inner Circle all of them lose their big picture matches. It was the first big match of Archer and Lee, how can they be dominant heels now ? After the TNT championship match, my feeling was "ok so Lance Archer is completely dumb and lost without Roberts" But the Main Event was really fun and enjoyable to watch. Special point for Omega and Guevara. Top 3 of the night : 3. Shida 2. Cage 1. The Elite"

[6.0] "The casino ladder match was good. MJF vs Jungle Boy felt like a drag in some places. The ending was also a bit dumb. Cody vs Archer had a pretty disappointing ending. Dustin vs Spears was funny, but they needed more time. Moxley vs Brodie Lee could've had a better ending. The main event was very good and pretty funny at times, but the Elite winning will hurt the Inner Circle a lot in the long run. A good show that is brought down with some questionable booking decisions."

[7.0] "No, this show was not perfect or close to it, which is what a 9 or 10 would suggest. The people who gave the show either grade have a broken system. That said, it was a pretty good show. The final three matches really elevated this show. The main event was an all-time crazy spectacle that isn't for everybody, but I loved it. It's hard to grade something like that, but on a rating scale, I guess that would be 4 stars? Brodie/Moxley was a 3. 75 star match, which was as good as it could have been. Shida/Rose was great and brutal, with a very good result. I'd give it a 4 star grade, but most others have given it a 3 or 3. 5. I loved it. The other great match was MJF/Jungle Boy, which surprised me. That was also a 3. 5-4 star match. As for the other five matches, well, they had some issues. The Casino Ladder match had some highlights, but was way too long, dragged, and was overbooked to a fault. Same thing with Cody. Archer. Preshow match was good, but suffered from chemistry issues and was also too long. Penelope Ford vs Kris Statlander was a solid, tv-quality match that didn't overstay its welcome, and gets a pass since it was on such short notice. The one truly bad thing about this show was the Spears/Dustin match. It felt like a low-level WWE/TNA segment, and no show with something like that can get a 9 or a 10 unless everything else was legendary. Through the first six matches, there was one great match. The final three matches saved this PPV and made it worth watching. 7 or 7. 5 out of 10 is my grade."

[8.0] "Overall a strong show that really came together by the end, but hampered by a few unnecessary matches and an underwhelming Cody-Archer outing. The opening ladder match was rough around the edges but had its moments - all of OC's comedy worked beautifully and Brian Cage looked phenomenal in his debut, so ultimately it's a positive despite its botches ad sometimes questionable booking. MJF vs Jungle Boy was just excellent, classic wrestling done by two extremely promising talents, no complaints there. Cody-Archer was, unfortunately, overbooked and overlong, and is a blemish on the card despite the talents of all involved. Statlander vs Ford was nothing special but perfectly alright, especially considering its relatively impromptu status. Nice to see a big win for Statlander but ultimately wasn't really a PPV-quality match. Dustin vs Spears was a mixed bag - a lot of the comedy was purile but Spears was genuinely funny in his gloating and his selling, so ultimately it worked out (although once again, not a segment worth paying for and might have been better placed on Dynamite). Thankfully, the three biggest matches all went over like gangbusters, each offering a distinctly different but equally brutal array of delights. In its final hour, Double Or Nothing was absolutely thrilling and could not have been more of a treat to watch. A step down from Revolution due to inconsistency in the undercard, but crucially, this PPV delivered when it counted the most and ended up being a helluva show, which I would definitely recommend."

[9.0] "Overall great pay per view that almost made me forget the missing audience because of the dedication and effort by everyone involved. All matches except the short Dustin-Spears comedy match were good to great. The circumstances of the environment meant that many matches took place almost as often outside the ring as inside, but the intensity was great and everyone went all out -- some even too much (Darby really needs to be more careful). Storylines were ended and started on this great night. Thank you, AEW."

[10.0] "An absolute incredible wrestling show, made even more impressive by the fact that it was in an empty arena setting and was still greater than almost every wrestling show with a crowd I've seen. The casino ladder match was great and the format worked much better than I thought it would, even though there were a couple botches: ****1/4-. MJF vs Jungle Boy was a great technical match, these two really are the future of the industry: ****-. Cody vs Archer had great moments, but was overly drawn out and overbooked, which ended up hindering the match more than it does in most Cody matches: ***1/2. Statlander vs Ford was a short, but fun match: ***+. Spears vs Dustin was good for what it was, but the match portion of the segment was pretty short and lackluster: **. Rose vs Shida was a fun brawl, but didn't quite click to the extent it could've: ***1/2. Moxley vs Lee was much better than expected, this was a great and brutal brawl and the finish was masterful: ****+. The stadium stampede was incredible, better than anything else that's been done in wrestling during the COVID era in my opinion: ****1/2"

[8.0] "With PPVs in this era being affected by the pandemic when it comes to crowd atmosphere and production, this PPV like wrestlemania and money in the bank delivers but also has its share of flaws. The casino ladder match had its fun parts but also sloppy/dangerous moments and botches. Cage being the mystery entrant was a plus and his matchup with luchasaurus and darby allin was entertaining. MJF vs Jungle boy was the best technical match of the night. Although MJF came out with the win, Jungle Boy also looked strong. Next, I must admit I was underwhelmed with the TNT title design but still happy that its there and will be adapted. As for the match, solid but not the best from both. Hoping the rivalry continues. Statlander vs Ford was passable and the same can be said for Rhodes vs Spears. Shida vs Rose was one of the better womans matches the company has had, and the division has a new focal point in Shida who rarely puts a foot wrong. Moxley vs Lee felt more like a grudge match than a main event championship match but it was hard hitting and brilliantly paced. There were an excess of kickouts which was prevalent throughout the night with other matches, but again hoping the rivalry continues. The stadium stampede match honestly deserves its own review as it is one of a kind. Akin to the recent MITB and Graveyard match, and even harkening to WCW spring break type atmosphere. Personally, it was fun, had the right amount of comedy, high spots, and the heels getting their comeuppance. In this empty arena era, cinematic matches are much more entertaining but can't be the only way forward. Moving forward from this PPV, AEW should focus on tightening up in ring work of certain competitors and production issues since these were noticeable in this issue unlike the first DoN."
