[9.0] "The silver-haired and silver-clad Doi comes into this match only 1 for 7 looking for gold in Open the Dream Gate Championship matches but the Japanese Brett Hart looks the part of a champion from the entrance alone. On the other side, Ben-K looks as good as he ever has with 3 keys hanging from the Dream Gate belt. Earning those 3 keys was no easy task as they had belonged to Yoshino, Mochizuki, and Yamato respectively. A hushed pall falls over the crowd in Fukuoka as the bell rings and the two men pacing and sizing each other up. Doi calls for the test of strength with the clearly stronger opponent only to draw him closer and deliver a kick to his head. From here the narrative is set; the wily veteran with an arsenal of moves and all the time in the world versus the powerful, wreckless youth who is desperate to put this old man away quickly. None of this is to say it was cliche, because it wasnt, it was spectacular. Ben-K goes for a spear early on the apron, only to find the ring post when Doi had it scouted perfectly. Dazed and injured from this risk with no reward, Doi then goes to work stretching Ben-K with the usual "what do you call that? " bag of tricks. Doi is methodical and works the neck over and over, setting up his "muscular bomb" to land later in the vening. Its only when Ben-K finds an opening and knocks Doi to the floor as he climbs the turnbuckle that Ben-K can begin to get in some offense. On the floor, Ben-K's spear finds the mark on Doi as the two are driven through the railings onto the cold pavement of the Kokusai Center. Doi is clearly hurt in this exchange as he is nearly counted out at 19 as he drags his broken body back to the ring. Nows its Ben-K's turn to go to work inside the ring, attacking the abdomen with a gutbuster, driving shoulders, rear clutches and whatever he can to soften up the midsection of Doi for his own finisher. A massive superplex results in a two count and its clear to Ben-K he'll need more to put the veteran down for 3. Doi mounts a comeback after the superplex and taunting afterward likely zap some of Ben-K's strength and attention. A swinging DDT, a draping senton AND a draping DDT punish the already mushy neck of Ben-K. Another suplex, this time a Kegon, gains a near 3 count and leaves Doi determined to inflict more. Now the match switches into more of a back and forth with both fighters finding their marks on moves with increasing intesity. After exchanging several quick ones, Ben-K puts both bodies on the canvas with his two footed "mortar" dropkick (missle) and the match now slows to a grind as they show the marks of wear and tear in the late stages of the battle. Lethargic elbows and swats lead to the corner where the match finds a near crescendo as they merely jockey for position on the turnbuckle. Just when Ben-K had Doi in position on his shoulders, Doi slips out and into a sunset flip. Doi goes for another near fall and the looks of ferocity are replaced with befuddlement for the first time on his face. Doi gets a muscular bomb reversed and then takes the full damage of a Ben-K bomb instead. Both sell on the canvas as the crowd and announcers begin to heighten the atmosphere for what must be the end coming. Slugfest ensues which Doi supringly wins with a sharp elbow then a quick Doi-5. Ben-K shoots back up and hits his spear and gets a 2 count. Unmoved, he drags Doi to his feet and gives him another Ben-K bomb. Again, only a 2 count. Full of rage, Ben-K emotes that the match is over and drags Doi to his feet for a 3rd Ben-K bomb which is promptly turned into another sunset flip with a roll through that nearly claims the champion's belt. They both roll to their feet and Ben-K lands a brilliant snap german suplex with a beautiful bridge but only a 2 count again. After both sell again on the mat, Doi hits a dazzling sequence that starts off the ropes from a Ben-K's spear that he counters into Bakatare sliding kick, Gory bomb, then Doi 555, then another bakatare....but again, just 2. The announcers, the crowd, and of course Doi are left wondering what could possibly be left to do? Doi answers quickly with what is definitely the answer; the unbeatable Muscular Bomb. 3 count, and Doi is Champion again. Overall a fantastic match showcasing the young raw power of Ben-K and possibly the best Doi has ever been in a championship match."
Open The Triangle Gate Match mit toller Action ***1/4. Tribe Vanguard vs RED um den Twin Gate Title ist ein starkes hartes Match ***1/2. Naruki Doi ist auf einmal wieder an der Spitze von Dragon Gate in dem er Ben-K in einem starken intensiven Match entthront ****."
[8.0] "This was a really good show. The last two matches were both excellent matches with two great shocking wins and moments. Doi wins his first Dream Gate title in nine years, in a rare singles match for him too (****1/2). YamaHulk regain the titles after injuries caused their last title run to end (****1/4). Ishida vs Lee was awesome with the two having a very close and personal battle (***3/4). The Ultimo tag had some good story progression (***1/2). The opening three matches were all significant for the younger generation of wrestler? s careers. The only down points was the Triangle Gate title match and that was solid if not unspectacular (***)."
[9.0] "Damn, I loved this show so much. Probably my favourite puro-show of the year. Awesome main event, amazingly written Twin Gate match, unexpectedly cool and action packed Triangle Gate fight, Brave Gate is fast and cool as well. Can`t say I enjoyed previous matches like last four, but they were also good: some good storytelling in three-on-three match, some comedy in Marufuji-Ichikawa and proper build-up for upcoming stars in the first three matches. Great show from start to end. DG at it`s finest"
