[8.0] "Much better than I expected and remembered. Three bangers, including a masterful hidden gem, + a fun four-way spotfest round out the terrific in-ring parts of the show (which were the main focus). Obviously, with only the first hour having commercials and being a part of two different networks, the show was disjointed in the middle. The ending was also ridiculous, but endearingly ridiculous. Oney Lorcan rules. A great first episode of the new era of N-X-T! Hopefully, it doesnt fall apart in the pandemic and then shift to a completely new color-splattered look that erases all of the goodwill garnered from the past five years. **** (8.3/10)"

[6.0] "Can't go above a "satisfactory" rating because for the most part I didn't have much of an idea what was going on, who any of the wrestlers were or what stories they were part of. For a first show to a new audience that isn't great, especially with the locker room clearout giving being the perfect opportunity to introduce a host of what were to me new wrestlers. The women's four-way was good and miles better than most of the main roster women's action. The squash was nice and quick, I didn't know Grimes was Trevor Lee until checking on here (why give him a shit name? ). Strong vs VD was too long, but did include a lot of good technical exchanges. Dunne was very good. Lio vs Lorcan was too long, but did have some nice fluid exchanges but not much else. The street fight was rubbish, and the all-in brawl didn't work at all. Who chose to fight with whom and why? It was just a big mess. WALTER's introduction also fell flat, was he trying to get heat, I don't know? I really liked the small arena atmosphere, but the scouse in the Everton shirt was winding me up."

[7.0] "It's good to see that NXT continues to focus on its development duty. I don't see any point in the squash for Grimes, NXT can do better. Dunne vs Ruas and Xia Li vs Aliyah were solid. The Women's Title #1 Contender was great. I'm fine with Candice as the new challenger. Strong vs Dream was a great match without getting too much to the Takeover level. Maybe because of the surprise Lio vs Oney Lorcan was the highlight to me. Great comeback for Lio! The Main-Event was great way to give the new viewers an overview, but for a Street Fight I don't see any reason to stop the match. I love that the hours are split between USA and the WWE Network. This kinda creates so much importance for the main culmination of an NXT episode that you usually don't see on wrestling shows. This was seriously a very well paced show."

[9.0] "An enjoyable debut on TV for NXT, the upgraded production values looks good and the energy of the NXT crowd is always a bonus. A prime opportunity for some of the lesser used talents to finally break out of the PC. Cameron Grimes looks like a star in an impressive squash and the other storylines also got some time to shine. It will be interesting on how NXT book the cruiserweights into the show, but Lio vs. Oney is a good sample test. Looking forward to the following weeks and on Oct 2 when NXT fully transitions to TV."

[7.0] "The first hour was certainly better than the second. The women did excellent with the short amount of time given and the NA Title match was fantastic. Second hour was a little eh but it was good to see some cruiserweight action. The main event was quite a let down because it felt like a typical vince book job. The match will get another go next week so hopefully it'll be better. Overall it's good to see them fit a lot of wrestling into a 2 hour show. Something the main roster fails to do in 5 hours."
