| 6 | 14.09.2019 | boymeetsworld | 6.0 | For me, this show was exactly how rating system describes rating '6 points' - satisfactory, because I don't have any frustrations with booking or wrestlers themselves... but the crowd just wanted to be dead. In every match wrestlers tried to get them involved, but they were responding like were either politely asked, or paid to be excited - like it's some kind of a bad TV talk-show. I felt bad for the wrestlers, especially for Arisa Hoshiki, she was visibly frustrated by the end of the Main Event. This show, by the end, really felt like one you have to watch just to being a completionist. Opener wasn't fun exactly because of the crowd - usually these opening matches are succesful in creating a good and lighthearted mood via all-action matches in getting the crowd involved, but after this opener there was only one thought - that this show will not be fun. Tag matches were good and surpisingly had more heat than tournament matches - Oedo Tai vs. QQ tag highlighted Utami vs. Hayter and Kagetsu vs. Priestley interactions, while TCS vs. Stars one highlighted Stars' teamwork, TCS antics and Kimura vs. Iwatani interactions. Interactions were limited, but they served as a good reminder for these big matches. Tournament matches saw different stories: Momo Watanabe got another dominant win, AZM and Hazuki had another awesome high-speed style match, Jungle Kyona and Andras Miyagi set up a comedy match in their pre-match promos and before the bell - that setup played into the finish, Arisa Hoshiki was selling a beating while already being dead and getting zero reaction. Natsuko Tora looked very good in this one - agressive and dangerous, those frog splashes looked devastating. Her match against Mayu Iwatani on March 28th in Korakuen Hall is my favorite STARDOM match this year so far, and she improved a lot since then, it's good to see her in the Main Event of 5STAR Grand Prix show. |
