[8.0] "The beginning of the great PPV run that WWE have been on currently imo. Their were some forgettable matches like Mandy's match, (to no fault to the competitors given the horrific circumstances) as well as the Street Profits match that ended a very mediocre feud. However, there were very obvious highlights, such as the great debut and showcasing of Dom Mysterio, with Seth doing a wonderful job of making the newcomer look comfortable in the ring. Drew and Orton had an absolute banger of a much, with the two showing a lot of chemistry and making Drew look very strong in the outcome while still protecting Randy. I loved the story being told between the two Asuka matches, with Sasha's slow face turn seeming very natural and giving Bayley some heat coming into their future feud. While the Universal Championship match was a slow mess, the ending was obviously fantastic and its a relief to see the belt finally off big Braun."

[6.0] "This year's SummerSlam was a somewhat uneven show, with a few very good matches interspersed with a lot of middling-at-best card-filler. McIntyre vs. Orton and Asuka's respective matches vs. Bayley and Banks topped the list of best singles matches, along with Dominik Mysterio having a very successful in-ring debut vs. Rollins. On the other hand, the Fiend vs. Strowman main event didn't really work and seemed a somewhat unceremonious end to Strowman's title run (Reign's reemergence was, at the very least, surprising though, at least for those that successfully avoided spoilers). The Tag Title match just kind of existed, and Rose vs. Deville was likely hurt somewhat due to outside-the-ring events both participants recently had to endure. A show that could be called decent overall, but likely won't go down as one of the more memorable SummerSlams."

[3.0] "I really didn't like this show. There was only one match that was worth watching for me. One of the weakest SummerSlam's I've ever seen. Bayley/Asuka (**) - Such an uninteresting and forgettable match which goes for all pf Bayley's PPV matches. Street Profits/Andrade & Garza (*1/2) - Short and mediocre tag match with a predictable result. Why can't we get a decent tag match from the main roster anymore? What a shame. Sonya/Mandy (DUD) - Hated this match. Mandy is one of my least favorites in her division. Harmless offense and zero character. Sonya is boring. No intensity and just a forgettable match. The stipulation was meaningless. Rollins/Dominik (***1/2) - Easily the MOTN and the only match i'd recommend someone to watch from this show. Rollins was an entertaining heel and Dominik was fine in his debut. The melodrama was a bit much but i think it worked. I enjoyed this, which i can't say for anything else on this show. Asuka/Sasha (**3/4) - I'm so burnt out from these matches and their screwy finishes. Some good spots and that's it. McIntyre/Orton (***) - Not sure where the praise comes from. I thought this was decent but overall underwhelming. I did like the story though. The Fiend/Strowman (*) - After having two terrible matches at Money in the Bank and Extreme Rules i expected nothing less than a bad match. That's exactly what we got. A slow brawl with no intensity and finisher spam to boot. The ending was super flat as well with Strowman making a dumb decision and paying for it. Strowman's title reign was so bad. Why couldn't this feud end after Strowman was drowned in the swamp? Can't believe i just used those words to describe a wrestling feud."

[5.0] "Decent PPV. Some good matches (McIntyre vs Orton, Asuka vs Banks and Rollins vs Dominik) but nothing great imo. The Fiend vs Strowman main event was a weak walk-and-brawl let down. Like the look of the Thunderdome, but the piped in crowd noise was awful and barely reacted to what was happening. Some sensible booking this month, please let it continue."

[5.0] "Another bland PPV. Highlights were the Asuka matches. Main event was a terrible walk'n'brawl. The Orton/Drew match was plodding and lacking heat. Everything else blended together. Nothing memorable from this show apart from Roman's return. [Crews vs MVP] - 1 1/2 stars. [Bayley vs Asuka] - 3 1/4 stars. [Street Profits vs Garza/Andrade] - 2 1/2 stars. [Mandy vs Sonya] - 2 1/4 stars. [Rollins vs Dominik] - 2 3/4 stars. [Sasha Banks vs Asuka] - 3 1/2 stars (Match of the Night). [Drew vs Orton] - 2 stars. [Stroman vs Wyatt] - 1 star (Worst of the Night). Average match rating: 2. 34 of 5 stars (or 4. 68 of 10). Rounded to 5 for Cagematch."

MOTN: Asuka vs. Banks. First half of the show was mediocre, a 2/10. Last half was acceptable, a 7/10. In average a 3. 5 (which is a 4) is fair."

[8.0] "This was absolutely the best WWE PPV of the year. I was not sure how Thunderdome would work but, for the most part, it went well. I assume they pipe in crowd noises and of thats the case they really need to work on pops for big moments in matches. Many of the finishes and big spots were met with 0 crowd noise and was awkard. //// Bayley vs Asuka was a fun opener, great storytelling to set up for Asuka/Banks later in the night. Overall just a good match. (***1/2) //// Raw tag title match was not bad but short. Felt more like a TV match then a big PPV match. All 4 men are crazy atheltic and that really came out here. (**3/4) //// Rose/Deville - Not as bad as it's being made out to be. Felt like and was treated as a real grudge match. Sonya was the star whereas Mandy was stiff and sloppy in parts. All in all it was fine. (***) //// Rollins/Mysterio - This was an interesting one. I hated the first 5-10 minutes for a few reasons. The first being that Seth "blinded" Rey and then whipped Dominik to a bloody pulp and Dominik starts the match by..... grappling? Doing high spots? The second, which may be a minor nitpick, was the fact it was a street fight and Murphy, the heel, was just standing on the outside doing absolutely nothing. Everything outside of that though was good and a really nice debut for Dominik (***3/4) //// Asuka/Sasha was just perfect storytelling, back and forth action, and overall wrestling. These two have insane chemsitry. (****1/2) //// Orton/McIntyre felt like an old school match. Just two big men trying to outmuscle each other and beat the shit out of each other. Really awesome stuff. (****1/2) //// The main event was what you would expect. Nothing bad, liked the finish but everything else was just ok. (***)"

Didn't play up the story enough and the match wasn't all that intense. They've both went through a lot this week, don't know if that affected this, but this definitely underwhelmed **. Rollins/Dominik was not just better than expected, but one of the best debut matches ever. What a showing from Dominik and a tremendous performance by Seth. Really great match ****1/4. Asuka/Sasha was great. Finally a match with no overbooked mess ****. Drew/Orton was great. Really well worked and smooth match. Orton has found a stride in the ring since WM ****. Strowman/Fiend was a match. Nothing really notable, waste of a Falls Count Anywhere **. Reigns retuning so viciously was great to end on though. Overall fun show"

[8.0] "Summerslam is usually pretty good and this one was fantastic. SIx of the eight matches ended in under 12 minutes and the longest two matches were not only under 25 minutes, they were also great. The whole PPV was a little over three hours, which is not only ideal for a big PPV during the pandemic, but also should be the norm from now on since longer shows tend to drain fans and that usually leads to bad reactions. As for the matches, let's go in chronological order. Bayley vs Asuka was a really good match, albeit not as good as their TV matches against each other in recent months. It was also just half as long as the tv matches, and was still a good opener with a good story. let's give it 3. 25 stars. The RAW Tag title match was solid but also shorter than expected, worthy of 2. 75 stars or so. Sticking with the trend of matches being short, the Sonya/Mandy match was just 10 minutes, and felt more like a fight than an actual match. That's fine considering the intensity of the feud and the stipulation. It's a shame the match wasn't better, but considering what Sonya and Mandy had to deal with in reality a couple of weeks ago, they deserve respect for even going out there and performing at all. Now, to the hearrt of the show. The slate that makes this a memorable PPV worthy of a high grade. Rollins vs Dominick was perfect. It was the first lengthy match of the night and boy did it deliver. Dominick showed his potential, Seth was great, Rey did his part perfectly and the end result was a brutal, emotional and fantastic match. That was a 4-star match and a potential star-making performance for Dominick. Asuka vs Sasha, like Asuka vs Bayley, was under 12 minutes. It was also perfect and understandable, since there's no need for either of the women's title matches to go too long due to Asuka being in both of them. Don't get me wrong, Asuka, Sasha and Bayley are all fantastic, but the combination of those two matches told a great story that properly continued their summer-long storyline. The match, which was significantly shorter than the previous Asuka vs Sasha title matches, was worthy of a 3. 5 star grade. Drew vs Randy was the match of the night. It had a slow build, but smoldered more and more as it went on and the final minutes were fantastic. It was the quintessential 20-minute great title match, full of back and forth sequences, great storytelling and allusions to their feud, and the ending made it so that a rematch can be done at next week's PPV. Simply brilliant, 4. 25 stars. The main event between Braun and Bray was fine. A bit underwhelming at times, and just 12 minutes, but it was solid. The lack of Alexa was a surprise, but the match was acceptable. I'd say three stars, maybe? Of course, there's a reason why this match closed the show, and that was the ending. Shortly after the match ended, Roman Reigns appeared out of nowhere and attacked the Fiend! Roman looks buffer, has new teeth, and his shirt, along with his attack on Braun, gave"

It was especially bad coming after the WWE Title match. No MOTYC. WWE has been delivering good to great Title matches except in the case if the Universal Title. Good shiw with a good ending despite a bad main event."

Rollins vs Mysterio was probably the match of the night but nothing on this show was especially amazing, nor was anything a disappointment. The big surprise angle at the end doesn't really work for me, but hopefully it at least signifies something exciting going forward. Perfectly decent show with a few memorable spots and moments (Sasha powerbombing Asuka from the apron comes to mind) but probably not a SummerSlam that will go down in the history books."

[7.0] "Good show. They actually lived up to the tagline they put. The US match shouldn't have been on the pre-show. The Sasha-Bayley saga has escalated. Hope it goes a lil faster. Asuka winning was the right call. Tag match didn't have much build and the match felt like a throwaway. Sonya vs Mandy was okay but lacked intensity at some points. Sonya taking time off is a good thing after all that has happened as of late. Randy vs Drew was great, I loved all of it. The main event was okay although it did have a lot of botches. Roman's return elevated the whole show."
HiTariwrestling wrote on 24.08.2020:
[10.0] "this was 100% one of the best summerslams ever. so yeah, you had the unnecessary matches with Asuka vs bayley, and andrade and angel garza getting another shot at the raw tag titles once again. But all those matches were very, very, VERY fast paced, none of those matches ever had a dull moment. of course some of the matches had the obvious winners, but they were still great matches. seth rollins vs dominick was a 5 star classic. drew vs orton was a great match, but my only sin is that no rko or claymore kick was ever executed. (the match ended on a backslide). and while the universal title match should have gone on longer, it made up for the return of ROMAN REIGNS. truly a night full of surprises. every since moving to the thunderdome, wwe has gotten better. amazing job tonight wwe! keep up the good work!"

About the finish of the McIntyre/Orton match : McIntyre litteraly outsmarted Orton tonight, knowing Orton will try the RKO several times, countering them in a normal way the first times and using the backslide after 20 minutes of matches. Storytelling at his best and one hell of a match. Top 5 of the Night 5. Roman Reigns 4. Seth Rollins 3. Asuka 2. Drew McIntyre 1. Dominik Mysterio"
