I thought my appreciation of it came solely from the Elimination Chamber and the audacious concept coming off but going back to it, from beginning to end it had something. the Dudley Boyz reunion, the Scott Steiner return, the Paul Heyman turn, the Shawn Michaels redemption. 5 title changes too. just an excellent all round show that I imagine every fan who paid to be in MSG that night left feeling they got more than their monies worth."

[8.0] "This was a really fun ppv. Even though the hype was solely on the first ever Elimination Chamber match, the rest of the card didn't appear to be affected by it. The opener delivered a fun tables match. To my surprise, the Cruiserweight title match was great. Women's title match was solid but ended abruptly. World title match was more of a showcase match, which was good. The three way tag match had great wrestling in it. And of course the main event, a monumental match that delivered. To top it all off, special appearance by Big Poppa Pump and Randy Orton."

[8.0] "A very good night of action that started off with a bang and ended with an incredible main event spectacle that sent the crowd home happy. The opener really set the tone right and the fans were really into Jeff Hardy teaming up with what would eventually be all three Dudley Boyz. The next two matches were solid but short, and it was a real shock to see Big Show go over and win the WWE Title especially with Heyman's betrayal of Lesnar. The tag title match was very good and a great showcase of the "Smackdown Six", with Los Guererros going over by cheating, which was on par for their characters. The return of Scott Steiner went about as good as it could get with the crowd really into it. The main event was fantastic with the right guy going over in my opinion, with the MVP of the match having to be Triple H based on how much punishment he endured going from bell to bell. Solid 4 star show."

[10.0] "This was a really really really good PPV. I cannot believe DM rated both the women's championship and the lesnar/show match a DUD. WTF? First off with the women's championship, how funny was it that trish stratus couldn't figure out how to use an ironing board? lmao. That match was probably the funnest women's match i've seen in a while. I can't remember the last time i saw blood in a women's match. They used the hardcore rules well and it was really fun. DUD? wow man fuck that. Also, the show/lesnar match was short as hell but that's what it needed to be. Who the fuck wants to see a 20 minute big show match? Absolutely nobody. Seeing lesnar suplex show and sell the pain the way he did was awesome. Then the F5, heyman interference, and quick finish, and I have to say this match was way more enjoyable than I ever thought it could be or had any right to be. The tables match was perfect for 3 minute warning. Any other kind of match probably wouldn't have worked. And devon coming back as a dudley and not rev was a great surprise... although I will miss the rev's intro music. Cruiserweight championship was pretty standard for both of these guys, but a good enjoyable match either way. Of course the smackdown 6 match was awesome. It was essentially a spot fest but it wasn't complete chaos or meaningless. I really enjoyed it. Everyone was very good here and I usually do not enjoy Edge matches. Chavo is hit or miss for me. But damn, everyone was on their game. For the elimination chamber... This was the first EC match I've ever watched. In fact, I've never actually even seen what one looked like. I think it could have been a 5 star match if they replaced booker and Kane. Also Jericho and RVD seem to have zero chemistry together. It's just so weird how mechanical all the moves look when it's just them two. The ending of the match was great though with HBK vs HHH. The ending to both major championships surprised me a ton. For the overall PPV, the pacing was great. Putting Lesnar/Show match as 3rd to last was a great decision for the flow of events. I also liked all of the different promos in between the last two matches. I always appreciate when the PPV has some of that kind of stuff, they don't do that enough in my opinion. The Randy Orton thing was completely unnecessary for a PPV but throwing it in there made it feel special. Big Poppa Pump's debut was fun but damn he looked gassed as fuck despite having negative body fat. I guess I could have done without the Saliva concert but it isn't a bad song. Anyway, 10/10 for me and the best PPV of 2002 easily."

[8.0] "It's a very good show overall. The opener was fun, there weren't any major dull points in the card. Even the Brock title drop had major storyline implications. I started this watchthrough on this PPV so I don't recall how obvious it was coming. Intending to watch Raw/Smackdown from here out. The highlight is OBVIOUSLY the first ever Elimination Chamber. Still for my money, the best Elimination Chamber of all time. My favorite match type to watch and just an incredible match. The last singles title win for Shawn is also crazy. Just an excellently-paced show overall. Highly worth the watch. Match 1 - 7.0 Match 2 - 7.0 Match 3 - 6.0 Match 4 - Not rated, too short Match 5 - 8.0 Match 6 - 10.0 WTF Moment of the Night - Scott Steiner debuting to beat the hell out of Matt Hardy and renowned neuroscientist Christopher Nowinski for... reasons"

[7.0] "WWE Survivor Series 2002 delivered a solid show with several standout moments. The event featured the first-ever Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship, which became an instant classic and was the highlight of the night. Shawn Micheals victory in that brutal contest helped solidify his legacy. The undercard also had its share of exciting bouts, such as the traditional Survivor Series elimination matches, although some of the storylines felt rushed or lacking in depth. While the show showcased a good mix of star power and action, it didn't fully reach the potential of being a truly memorable Survivor Series. Despite some pacing issues, the overall entertainment was solid, making it a worthwhile watch for fans of the era."

All the matches are very good (Besides Big Show vs Brock) and such a great opener and a perfect ending to a PPV! All the stars on the show came ready to perform and they truly did show out from the Legends to the upcoming stars everyone put on a great performance and this PPV showcases the joy and excitement of being a wrestling fan!"

Overall WWE Survivor Series (2002) is a really phenomenal show."

When the "worst" match is the Trish vs. Victoria Women's Championship hardcore rules match, which was excellent, that really says something for this show's quality. Every match was enjoyable and everything is bolstered by a great atmosphere. The 1st-ever Elimination Chamber match is a thing of brutal beauty!"

[8.0] "This is indeed one of the most solid WWE shows, and there isn't a bad match on it. I'd really recommend watching all of it, as it is all good (except for the part where the shitty band plays at the world restaurant). However if you're pressed for time, just watching the last two matches will probably be sufficient. It's the first appearance of the elimination chamber and it's a really good match, as well as Shawn Michael's last title win. Also, tag title match is the only time all of the "smackdown six" would ever be in the ring all together. 2002 WWE had a lot going for it."

Some matches were a little underwhelming, but it seemed fine, because the rest of the card was just too good. The iconic main event was definitely a worth to watch, but the 3 way elimination match was the one i loved the most. Great job on booking (in most of the cases) by wwe there."

[5.0] "A lot of stuff here, especially in the garbage match territory, felt like the Attitude Era and I don't mean that as a compliment. It had two very good matches, but everything else was a mixbag. The opener was a tables stipulation that has already been killed by The Dudleys in the past few years, so you couldn't even react to any broken tables as it has been done countless times already. Kidman vs Noble was another one of these fine little cruiserweight bouts, while Trish vs Victoria was horrible with both women rushing to get as many spots as possible. Then Show vs Lesnar was a phenomenal hot shot and even though I wasn't happy about making Lesnar babyface the match itself really surprised me in a positive way. On the other hand the Tag Team Titles match disappointed me a lot with all three teams producing unbearable chaos before the first elimination and after that they didn't really recover, especially since the crowd was mad about Benoit and Angle getting eliminated. But the main event ended the show on a very good note, since not only the new and fresh stipulation met the expectations, but also Michaels' comeback story felt great and his win got the loudest pop since Hogan vs Rock. So overall there was some good stuff, but also some garbage got involved."

[8.0] "[8.8] One of the best WWE PPVs when it comes to consistency and being an all-rounded well-paced show that feels like a breeze for its 3 hour length. It is probably also the most memorable Survivor Series with a creative spin on the event with unique stipulations including the inaugural Elimination Chamber match. The main event is by far the MOTN and makes this PPV what it is with some insane moments and one of the biggest pops I've ever heard in Shawn Michaels' victory. All of the other matches are enjoyable at the very least with memorable spots. I do think that the PPV just falls short of greatness because of some issues - the Eric Bischoff promo wasn't needed, Randy Orton's promo feels pretty weird and cringy and a lot of the matches had some noticeable botches and abrupt endings. And besides the main event, there isn't a single match I would really rewatch years down the line."

[10.0] "Genuinely... This may be my favorite WWF/E PPV of all time. I truly enjoy everything on it, minus Big Show v Brock (too obvious that the turn is coming, Heyman gets so fired up his hat falls off and tries to hide his bald spot which always sends me into a laughing frenzy for several minutes, and this version of Big Show is NOT it...). This is a blast of a show, and if you look at it in a vacuum, this is also possibly one of the best WWF/E debuts of all time with Steiner killing Matt Hardy and Chris Harvard (had to) to a massive pop. Follow that up with "Get your ass in here, I ain't done yet! " into "Whodaman? ! " into "Gimme a f****** mic! " into the standard Big Poppa Pump promo... God tier stuff here. Table Eliminator? Fun as hell, and 3MW to me is still so underrated. Kidman v Noble is a fun Cruiser match for me, and Noble KILLS Kidman with the top rope spike DDT before we get into the finish of Kidman's jank SSP where his feet clip the ropes here and legit scare me into thinking I'm gonna see not one, but two men possibly get snapped off... Women's Title is WAY better than people give it credit for. Trish was a bit sloppy (par for the course I am finding after revisiting her work this past month [she has prominent botches in her WM 19 match w/ Jazz & Victoria where she blows the finish with a chest kick to Victoria as opposed to the head for the Chick Kick, WM 22 with Mickie James where she blows the finish by not helping Mickie up for the Stratusfaction and just stumbling around, and here, where she steps on the mirror for the glass spot, and you guessed it, blows the finish, leading into them improvising and Victoria shoot suffocating Trish due to a non-gimmicked fire extinguisher being the call for the finish. Trish also full on Bulldogs Victoria's nose which is already bloodied into her side/thigh, looking like she's trying to break that thing open and really get the juice flowing... That all sounds like Trish hate, but I truly do admire her work and legacy]). Three-way Tag Title match is HOT for a while, then after Angle/Benoit are eliminated, it kinda just stalls. But still fun. And the first ever Chamber, is killer considering that half of it is on the fly due to Kane coming out early to feed time to Trips who had his Larynx absolutely ganked by RVD hitting the 5-Star Frogsplah from the top of a pod directly to his throat. The match still finishes strong, HBK gets a win while simultaneously looking like a smacked ass (Shawn, wtf was this hair and gear choice, sir? ! ), and we're out of here with a super solid and all around fun show. OH, AND SALIVA PLAYS LIVE FROM THE WORLD! OPEN YOUR EYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS..."

I think some of the excitement comes from the Elimination Chamber match - which has become one of the most successful match types WWE has done, and this Chamber match in particular was very good. Not only that but there's a very decent women's hardcore match, Tag title 3 way and even the opener I thought was pretty good. The WWE title match was short for sure, but still wasn't awful. Honestly nothing at all is bad on this show, it's all enjoyable in one way or another."

[10.0] "A picture perfect show, all killer no filler. No match on this card failed to deliver in any way, even the Big Show/Brock Lesnar match going so short wasnt hurt considering the sheer spectacle of the two hosses throwing each other around, plus it gave the big main event spot to the recently minted World Heavyweight Championship which helped legitimize it. The undercard was absolutely PACKED, and the lack of a solid midcard title (thanks Triple H) was actually not felt on this card thanks to a stacked tag team roster courtesy of the Smackdown Six and a banger Cruiserweight match between Kidman and Noble. When even a Womens Title Hardcore match delivers, theres really nothing to complain about."

[8.0] "A consistently enjoyable show. Opening six man is a fun car crash. Fast paced and hype (7/10) Kidman and noble have another sprint, a bit more technical than the opener but still a sligt spotfest being so short (7/10) Stratus/Victoria is a pretty fun street fight and a surprising highlight for WWE's old school womens division (7/10) Big Show/Lesnar is the weakest on the card being so short but they do the most they can with less than 5 minutes, it doesn't have the chance to get boring and the Heyman turn is memorable (6/10) Tag title match features the smackdown six so its always gonna be fun, great wrestling even if its not any guys best bout (8/10) Steiners debut is a solid segment but I felt like it dragged a bit too long. FInally we get the debut of the Elimination Chamber. The match starts off really well with RVD and Triple H but it slows down a bit once Jericho gets in, there are a few botches but it really picks up once again by the end specially once HBK comes in (8/10)"

The entire show is action packed and moves along at a brisk pace (aside from needing to take some downtime prior to the main event, but this was at least made eventful with Steiner's debut). The entire show feels extremely eventful, and there isn't a bad match on the card. There is a lot of variety on display, and every match feels different and memorable in its own way. Some of the events may not stand out as much as they did at the time, but back when this aired the way that Brock manhandled show seemed insane, as did some of the spots in the Elimination Chamber that might now be taken for granted. The feel good moment to close the show is just the icing on the cake."

[10.0] "One of the best Survivor Series PPV's ever. Known for the first ever Elimination Chamber match and the SmackDown Six tearing the house down in the co-main event. It breaks tradition by not having the 5 on 5 tag matches but three of the matches that still keeps to the elimination theme that sets this PPV apart from any other. It's a great card from start to finish and a special night with Shawn Michaels taking the big gold belt and rolling back the years in a really well structured Chamber Match. My favourite match goes to the Guerreros taking the Smackdown tag team belts in an absolutely absorbing triple threat match. The opening table match is a fun car crash of an opener with a huge pop for the Dudley Boyz reunion, Kidman and Noble have an excellent cruiserweight bout and Trish and Victoria shine in a rare women's hardcore match that showed off what they could actually do in a proper match! I remember hating seeing Lesnar lose the belt to the Big Show when I first saw it, but looking back some of the things Lesnar was pulling off in that match and landing an F5 on the Big Show with broken ribs was an awe inspiring sight!"

I was impressed with just about everything with only very minor complaints (is this the first and last time a snap suplex was the finish? ). Very high recommendations, an excellent case of a time capsule in a positive sense. I was left grinning and enjoying myself often - down to the spectacular and unforgettable ending. Top tier stuff and I will enjoy watching this many times in the future. (Side Note: While there are no "survivor series" matches; half of the matches have elimination stipulations and I feel this was perfectly done this evening. I thought all of the matches were different in a good way as well here which was nice to see. But what a show! 6-Man Tables Elimination is as good an opener as you could have. Lots of action with very little down time and lots of tables. Cruiserweight Title was decent, better than expected at least. Wicked DDT spot and awesome shooting star. Women's Title was boring. Overrated. Good for womens hardcore but not a good match. Big Show and Brock Lesnar cant be ranked for being shorter than 5 minutes but i still think this was an awesome match. Brock shows off his strength and we have an awesome heel turn by Paul E. Tag Titles Elimination is again, an awesome match. Main Event is five stars. Perfect first chamber match with six hall of famers Overall...All titles changed. This is a hell of a theme for a PPV. The chamber cold intro was the best in wwe ive seen. Idk. Just the perfect all time event"

There is just something about Madison Square Garden that can turn an event into something and boy was this special. Table Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match was a hot opener. The WWE Cruiserweight Title Match bought some good wrestling to the event and help balance out the atmosphere. The World Women's Title Hardcore Match is one of the best women's matches during the Ruthless Aggression era. The WWE Heavyweight Title Match was a fun 5 minute sprint, and told a great story solidifying Lesnar and Big Show for the next few months. The WWE Tag Team Title Three Way Elimination Match is the SmackDown Six at their quintessential best. And finally the World Heavyweight Title Elimination Chamber Match was the perfect show closer alongside that great promo set to the song Always by Saliva. The first Elimination Chamber is still the best one in my eyes, due to how fantastically crafted it is and is one of the best PPV main events in WWE history. This is a very entertaining show thanks to it focusing on quality over quantity. If I'm in the mood for a quality PPV that doesn't feature many matches I choose Survivor Series 2002 or Royal Rumble 2001. Although events like SummerSlam 2002, WrestleMania XIX, and WrestleMania X-7 give you more bang for your buck but shows that have fewer matches in them do feel faster paced."

[5.0] "A few okay matches but mostly a pretty forgettable show, especially with the underwhelming main-event. Bubba, Jeff & Spike vs 3MW & Blackman was a fun hardcore spotfest opener, featuring some cool table spots, typically exciting signature work from Jeff, and some impressive monster spots from 3MW. ***. Noble vs Kidman had a good pace, smooth transitions, and a nice mix of power moves and high-flying attacks. Bit overkill with constant big moves and no-selling at the end, but still impressive technique from both men. ***. Trish vs Victoria was surprisingly fine, having a few creative and convincing hardcore spots alongside some good selling. It sadly got a lot messier with their actual wrestling exchanges, plus the botched finish. **1/2. Lesnar vs Show was bad, but too short to rate. Show couldn't sell, bump, or deliver any convincing offence. Lesnar tried hard with his usual explosiveness and strength displays, but the booking/match-up wasn't in his favour. NR. Edge & Mysterio vs Benoit & Angle vs Chavo & Eddie was pretty good. Mysterio had his high-flying mastery and energetic bumping; Benoit and Angle had their all-around intensity and explosive attacks; and Eddie had his captivatingly arrogant heel work, aggressive beatdowns, and energetic bumping. Edge and Chavo weren't bad, but they were far less memorable because of their distinct lack of style. They had strong chemistry, smooth transitions, and some exciting spots. The run-on 6-man exchanges were fun, though they delved into finisher-spam territory in typical WWE fashion. Edge and Rey's comebacks were always fun. Shame about the rushed finish. ***1/4. The Elimination Chamber match was pretty disappointing. The gimmick itself didn't work when all the bumps on the weak-sounding cage walls and floors sounded and looked so unconvincing. There was also just too much bland brawling and later on some excessive finisher spam, with some finisher-steals thrown in for extra eye-rolling, because WWE had to include that in literally every single match in this era. HBK's babyface comeback at the end was pretty generic, but I admit the crazed reactions to his Sweet Chin Music and his pinfall on HHH were pretty cool. A few other eliminations and finishers were kind of cool too, despite being pretty overkill. None of that made up for how uneventful, underwhelming, and overkill the majority of this match was, but at least there were some okay moments thrown in. **1/2"

Sure it didn't have Brock vs Rock, but it did have Brock beating Big Show's ass for four minutes which is cooler than it sounds. And it didn't have HHH vs HBK wrestling for half an hour, but instead had HHH vs HBK for half an hour while HHH had a torn Trachea and some other guys were there too or something who cares. At least this show had a women's match (and a halfway decent one if you'd believe it) and a pretty fun 6 man tables match. Throw in a Dudley Boyz reunion and the debut of the Elimination Chamber and you've got yourself a pretty fun show. Maybe it didn't hit the same highs its cousin Summerslam did, but it was still a pretty good time watching. 2002 was a really fun year for shows (except mania 18, which sucks for some reason)"

Set the precedent for some later great short Brock Lesnar sprints. The main event is a classic even though I prefer later Elimination Chamber matches. There's a memorable women's hardcore match AND a memorable cruiserweight match. The crazy tag team tables match and the excellent 3-way tag. So much variety! And there's the debut of Scott Steiner in which he's presented as a top tier talent. It was all downhill from there in his final WWE run."

"I wanted to review Show/Brock, but its under 5 minutes and the rules say i can't. So, fuck it, its one of the funnest sprints I've seen from start to finish. Brock is a Demigod in terms of freakish strength that shouldn't be possible, and Show is a wonderful brick wall that bumps and sells better than men half his size. The heel turn is one of the most logical turns ever, and its further proof Paul E is pretty good at this thing. ***"

From the wild opener, to the surprisingly aggressive at the time Trish/Victoria match, to Paul Heyman's betrayal, Scott Steiner's return and the first-ever Elimination Chamber match, this is the probably the best Survivor Series of all time. July-December 2002's workrate is nearly unmatched"

[8.0] "This edition of Survivor Series is very good even if it lacks the traditional match format. Madison Square Garden is treated to a decent opener that does not live up to previous outings from Bubba or Jeff in this kind of match type. Kidman and Noble have a great Cruiserweight match while Trish and Victoria have a suprisingly good showing too. The latter half of the event features a quick clash between Lesnar and Big Show which is worth seeing just for its spectacle and display of pure power. Following this is a match I massively recommend between Los Guerreros, Benoit and Angle and Edge and Mysterio. This triple threat tag match features smooth, fast wrestling and jaw dropping athleticism. The Smackdown Six were on a role during this period and the chemistry can be seen throughout this match. Finally, Survivor Series features arguably the very best chamber match which I would too recommend checking out. This match is cringe inducing throughout with masses of chaos and action while the final stretch warrants some of the best crowd reactions WWE has ever gotten in MSG or otherwise. This match is excellently shocking in its violent use of the structure all while being heart poundingly emotional in its tense and final moments. Overall, this show flew by and is most certainly worth watching with the last two matches being the highlights."

Brock vs Show was short but an awesome battle that has more storyline purpose than anything on this show. Everything else is either great or borderline. Best To Worst: Los Guerreros vs Benoit/Angle vs Edge/Rey - [****1/4]. Jamie Noble vs. Billy Kidman - [****]. Bubba Ray Dudley, Jeff Hardy & Spike Dudley vs. Rico & The Three-Minute Warning - [***3/4]. Elimination Chamber Match: [***3/4]. The Big Show vs Brock Lesnar - [***]. Trish Stratus vs. Victoria - [NR]"

[9.0] "Pretty good PPV all around, The opening elimination tables match is entertaining as all gimmick matches with Jeff Hardy tend to be and D-Von returning as a Dudley Boy was a great surprise. The women's hardcore match was probably the best women's match of the year, Trish Stratus was slowly improving as a in-ring worker and Victoria just plays a crazy bastard perfectly. Fun spotfest too. The tag team elimination match is good but has a disgruntled pace, picks up hugely in the middle but simmers down after Angle and Benoit are eliminated, and the Elimination Chamber is MOTN thanks to a star-studded set of wrestlers and people like RVD really get to shine in this match. 40 mins of violent action, psychological great storytelling and car crash fun. One of the best main events of the year and MOTN for sure. Only downsides are an okay cruiserweight match and a disappointing 5 minute WWE Championship match. Terrible way for Lesnar's 3 month reign to end. Also, every title changed hands on the PPV which I think makes this show quite unique."

The face turn made Lesnar the main eventer he is once and for all, but the screwjob parody made me laughing my ass off. 5) **** -Another- amazing tag match of that fantastic period. 6) ****1/2 The first and the best chamber ever (and forever). The show was amazing of course, but this is historic for what happened: the women's match was pretty important for Trish, Lesnar was going to be the top face of SD, Steiner debut and the last title run of HBK in the first chamber ever. You don't see many WWE shows as important as this one."

My personal favorite was the tag title match, followed by the CW match. I find the EC main event slightly overrated but not enough to bring the main event down, it's still a fantastic show."

Even the short match between Brock and Show served a purpose with Heyman turning his back on Brock. The highlight of the show though had to be the very first Elimination Chamber which lived up to the brutality that Bischoff said it would. The only objection I would have though is that there were no traditional Survivor Series matches on the card, but the tables match and the concept of the chamber made up for it."

Only two of the matches on the card were not gimmicked three if you count the elimination tag match. The action and the crowd were very hot throughout the night as is always the case at MSG. This show was rocking, definitely the best Survivor Series of all time. Two Thumbs Up"
