[7.0] "The first TOD is a pretty decent show. The first 2 tournament matches (Zandig vs Hatred & Flash vs Messiah) and the Arsenal/Phantom vs Ninjaz match were either boring or played more into the Zandig/Lobo angle that has been going on for months. Wifebeater vs Butcher & Gage vs Klein weren't bad tournament matches but could've been better. Mondo vs Jimmy was the best first round match with the memorable Assault Driver off the Ryder truck. The 4 way tag was a nice change of pace but predictable on who was winning it. The 3 way match was the best non tournament match with some good spots like the German suplex/sunset flip spot. Gage vs Beater and Mondo vs Messiah were amazing semi finals with both having hard hitting spots. The final (Mondo vs Beater) is a perfect finale with the weed whacker being a sickening spot. Overalll 7/10"

[6.0] "I was expecting a pretty underwhelming show here based on the card but...No! This was a decent and fun card that I didn't expect. A lot of memorable deathmatch moments happened on this show like the Weedwhacker ending and the Assault Driver off the fucking trailer. That was insane! The best match of the night had to be the Three Way Dance. Ruckus really impressed me with his high flying offense considering he was around 300 lbs supposedly. I felt like Messiah should have won the tournament and I wasn't that moved by Wifebeater winning. A lot of Danny Rose shenanigans interrupted the flow of the show at times too. The commentary was abysmal as well. [***]"

[3.0] "This was very difficult to watch. I wanted to go back in time and watch TOD from its first incarnation and simply couldn't bring myself to pay attention to this show. Not sure if it was the video quality or the overall match quality. Some of it seemed senseless as TOD continues to be, but that was the fun part of it. The negative part of that was that there was nothing to capture my attention. CZW would have great TODs in later years, but the first, for me, did absolutely nothing other than keep me occupied on the treadmill."

[6.0] "Zandig/Hatred wasn't really a match, just a tease to set-up the influence of Lobo on the show, followed by a squash to put Messiah in the tournament, making this whole quarter-hour a huge waste of time. The IWS Tag Team showcase was the true opener and one match that I especially appreciated, as they went fast and hard for a few short minutes, keeping weapons usage to a minimum to leave room for the tournament and giving a taste of violence to wake the crowd's appetite. Wifebeater/Necro was the first true deathmatch of the day, and pleased the frenzied crowd. Gage/Klein did not carry the same aura and seemed more gratuitous and mechanical, despite both guys obvious efforts. Homeless/Mondo was squarely garbage wrestling, but somehow injected some charm, building up to a truly breath-taking finish that was the most daring maneuver of the whole show. The Tag Team Scramble match was an excellent way to give breathing room to the ultraviolence, concentrating on fast-paced athletic action and spotlighting the tag team division. Likewise, the Junior Heavyweight 3-Way showcased another division, crafting probably the best wrestling match of the night, although those two workrate-intensive matches would have benefited from more separation. Wifebeater/Gage went back to senseless ultraviolence, making for a rather repetitive and gratuitous contest, but one that really lit the crowd's passion. Mondo/Messiah took a more measured approach, gradually building up the violence while incorporating a surprising amount of psychology to enhance the huge amount of lightubes attacks, but all their efforts got thrown out the window to clumsily shoehorn the Lobo/Zandig story into the tournament with obtrusive interference. Wifebeater/Mondo concluded the tournament in a very apt fashion, as this was the bloodiest match and they crafted a pain endurance contest to declare the first champion. Zandig's TOD found a niche that would become durable and a core part of CZW's identity."

[8.0] "Classic show. First TOD ever. Looking at the whole package TOD 1 offers a card full of classic DM-workers in a good phased tournament, were almost every match is under 10 minutes. I think this forms a nice neat small tournament with only the top guys included. Only the non-tournament matches were badly booked and are what doesn´t work here. Cutting them to one would have made this better. Nate Hatred/Zandig and Messiah/Adam Flash are more like segments that were booked because of Messiah´s injury. Arsenal/Green Phantom vs The Hardcore Ninjaz (*¼) Sloppy debut match that had couple of cool moves. Wifebeater vs Necro Butcher (**¾) Physical heavyweight hardcore match. Some brawling, really cool finish and some good stuff with the mouse traps. Picked more heath towards the end. I wish it had more intensity, but a match between these two is always a good fight. Nick Gage vs Toby Klein (**½) Quite entertaining for only 6 minute match. Couple of hard hits, a brainbuster on to the concrete and the carpet strips were not forgotten. Fast and effective. Nick Mondo vs Homeless Jimmy (***½) One of the best and smoothest under 10 min deathmatches. Everything just clicked here, their chemistry was great and the finish is one of the all time great sick bumps (Assault Driver of the Ryder truck) Sequences in and out of the ring had a great timing and the final spot was done well. Four Way Tag Team Elimination Match (*½) This match was completely unnecessary at this point. It had no heath. Three Way (**) Not that much better either. People were just waiting to see the semis already. At least this match had small effort and gathered some interest from the crowd. Wifebeater vs Nick Gage (***) Agressive spots. Very straight forward. Nice short semi final. Nick Mondo vs The Messiah (***½) Mondo does it again! Nicely build spots and sequences. Crowd on fire. Wifebeater vs Nick Mondo (***) Final is short & fast carnage. Finishes with the infamous weed-whacker spot."

[8.0] "Plenty of good barbaric fun to be had here. Takes a while to get going properly but once you're into Necro v Wifebeater it's mostly good stuff. Main event is crazy. Can't not respect Nick Mondo after this."

[5.0] "The first 2 matches were over in the blink of an eye. The Arsenal & The Green Phantom vs. The Hardcore Ninjaz was a pretty short and boring match. *1/4. Necro Butcher vs. Wifebeater was ok, and was mostly just brawling to be honest, but was entertaining. **. Nick Gage vs. Toby Klein was enjoyable *3/4. Jimmy vs Mondo wasnt that great of a match but the final spot was crazy. *1/2. the 4 way tag was an alright tag team match, but to be honest didnt really interest me. *3/4. Justice Pain vs. Nick Berk vs. Ruckus was an alright 3 way. **. Nick Gage vs. Wifebeater was a bit of a spot fest but I enjoyed it. Right at the start Gage took a sick back drop through a pain of glass in the corner. **. Mondo vs Messiah was alright, apart from the inference. **. Wifebeater vs Mondo - I thought was a good final match and in a way told a good story. ***. Overall there was no 5 star classicss, but the show was pretty entertaining if you like DM/UV wrestling."
