[8.0] "Very overrated in-ring when you look at the actual quality of the matches, most sound better than they were in reality, particularly the likes of Edge/Eddie and Flair/Jericho. There are some amazing bits though, Rey/Angle is fantastic, Benoit/RVD very good, Shawn's return and match with HHH incredible and a very good main that set Lesnar up as the next top guy. But there's only one truly top tier match and one match just below that, elsewhere the tag match and Taker/Test are both crap while the rest ranges from decent to one aforementioned very good match. Does that an all timer make? Not for me, I never saw this one live back in the day so I've always judged it based on how it compared to what has come after it and it doesn't hold up compared to all timers we've seen in multiple companies in the couple of decades plus that followed."

And that is really the only subpar bout on this entire card. Triple H/Shawn is highly regarded for a reason, the Angle/Mysterio opener is breathtaking, and Edge/Eddie have something of an underrated gem! I think my only complaint is...its too much of one type of match. Every match but one is a singles match. And of the 7 singles matches, only one has a stipulation. So 75% of the card is a basic one on one match. Sometimes even with little in the ways of a feud going into it. Still, absolutely one of the greatest Summerslams ever, and probably would make a list of top 10-15 PPVs of all time for me!"

This is just a top to bottom excellent show with a stellar card, a stacked roster of talent, and a nice bit of variety throughout. We saw some breathtaking, fast-paced intensity with the opener between Angle/Mysterio, which Rey look like a superstar even in loss. Edge/Eddie was a solid, well-worked match between pros, RVD/Benoit delivered some fine ass technical wrestling that really got the fans when it really kicked into gear, and even Taker/Test was a fun hoss-fest. HHH/HBK stole the show in a gripping and intense Street Fight that showed that HBK was still the showstopper. The main event between Lesnar/Rock was great as well, featuring a hot crowd and a classic heel/face dynamic. The whole card is incredible with no real weak spots, making for an excellent show."

Es war diese Typische "America vs. Everything" Storyline, die man auch Jahre vorher schon in der WWE oder Jahre später noch gesehen hat. Das Match war Okey. Die Show beginnt aber mit einem absoluten Banger Match. Sehr gutes Fast Paced Match zwischen Rey Mysterio (Ich weiß gar nicht ob das hier sogar sein PPV Debut gewesen ist bei der WWE) & Kurt Angle. Hätte ruhig noch länger gehen können als Knapp 10 Minuten. Hätte gut und gerne auch 15 bis 20 Minuten gehen können. Die Bewertung vom WON finde Ich hier sogar echt etwas zu niedrig (****1/4). Auch Chris Jericho vs. Ric Flair konnte mich überzeugen. Bleibt im Kopf. Die Chops von Ric Flair sind immer was besonderes gewesen. Kein Wunder das er diese Schläge berühmt gemacht hat (***1/4). Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero auch gut. Edge gewinnt hier nach einem Roll Up, was denke Ich mal noch nicht das Ende zwischen den beiden gewesen ist. Jedenfalls war Edge hier grade noch am Anfang seiner Singles Karriere (***1/4). Das WWE World Tag Team Championship Match fand Ich auch nicht mehr als in Ordnung. War nix wirklich was man gesehen haben muss, aber etwas besser als das Match Undertaker vs. Test. Rob Van Dam vs. Chris Benoit war Gut (***1/2). Und dann kam Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H & das war ganz klar das Match of the Night. Die beiden haben auch echt Mega viel Zeit bekommen mit knapp 30 Minuten Match Zeit. War zwar ein sehr langsames geführtes Unsanctioned Match, aber mit einer wirklich sehr guten Storyline. So ein Blutiges Match sieht man heute nur noch sehr sehr selten in der WWE (****1/2). The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar im Main Event war auch echt stark. Paul Heyman kassiert während des Matches einen Rock Bottom auf das Kommentatoren Pult, am Ende gewinnt aber Brock Lesnar das Gold (****). Insgesamt gebe Ich dem gesamten SummerSlam PPV aus dem Jahre 2002, 9 Punkte."

Overall WWE SummerSlam (2002) is a really phenomenal show, both the best SummerSlam ever and one of the all time best WWE PPVs ever."
[9.0] "I've been looking forward to this PPV for months now. Wasn't sure why until the weeks leading up to it, and it definitely did not disappoint. Fuckin Benoit and RVD match was such a strange clash of styles but it was really fun. Also obviously HHH/HBK was a great match and post-match shenanigans. Perfect really. HBK got his revenge and HHH did as well. HBK fuck man I missed him. He's soooo good. 4 years ago I couldn't imagine HHH being in a match this big. He's made great strides overall. Great presence even if he doesn't have half the move set or charisma that HBK does. He is just on a whole different level. The Rock vs Brock, I was not expecting Brock to win but I was pretty sure that Rock was not going to get out of that 2nd F5 attempt after countering the first one. I was waiting for Hogan to run in and save the day, but nah, fuck that, Brock is now your champ and is ushering in the new era. This reminds me of when Kane won his title so quickly after his debut in that I just didn't expect the WWF to make that kind of decision. Angle/Rey was fucking awesome and on any other PPV would have been the MOTN. I wasn't feeling Edge/eddie like everyone else. I think I just don't think that Edge is as good as everyone is but Eddie was great and has been getting better. His massive bulk up during his last injury probably was his eventual cause of death, but it's what elevated him to be as relevant and popular as he'd eventually become. I think his wrestling has also improved since coming back from injury. Flair/Jericho was a waste of time and the tag match was ok. Undertaker/Test was a piss break for me, I didn't press pause, but from reading the reviews, I made the correct decision. Can't give this a 10 as there weren't any great promos and the backstage stuff was sloppy. They could have pre-recorded the steph/bischoff interaction. But this was the best WWF PPV in a very long time."

The crowd is very responsive during the matches that are needed. The opener is superb, the following matches are very correct. The tag match is a surprise for me even if at the in-ring level there is not much but it manages to keep us on the edge of our seats and the audience is all in. RVD Vs Benoit is above the previous matches, except for the opener, but in a card like this it is completely forgettable. I recommend watching it separately. Undertaker Vs Test we could have done without it but we had to bring the audience down before the two Main Events. HBK Vs HHH is a gem, still a reference today. And the main Main Event is great. The Show opens up with a very good and fast paced match between two legends in Kurt Angle Vs Rey Mysterio, this was a blast to watch and there was an bunch of cool moves, highflying, suplexes, submissions, reversals everything u can ask for in a match. Kurt angle picks up the win by making Rey tap out t the ankle Lock. It is the best match under 10 minutes of all time. The Second Match on the show is a match between two all time greats in Chris Jericho Vs Ric Flair they have a decent 10 minute not good but not bad just ok. After that we have Eddie Guerrero Vs Edge in a very solid singles match Eddie went after edge's shoulder and attacked which was a cool dynamic but at the end edge ended up being victorious after hitting a spear. The Fourth match on the show was for the tag team titles between the champions Christian and Lance Storm vs Goldust and Booker T the match was ok nothing really to say about it besides that it was fine. Next theirs a fun Rob Van Dam vs Chris Benoit match for the united states championship that RVD ended up retaining in a entertaining match. Next up is the Worst match of the Night between the Undertaker and test in not a good match and not worthy of being on a such a big show like Summerslam. Now we have the best match of the night between my favorite wrestler of all time HBK and Triple H, this was Shawn's first match in 5 years and it couldn't be a against a better appointment then best friend Triple H and they killed each other in this unsanctioned it was bloody, brutal, grueling and super entertaining to watch. My Favorite between the two of them in their great feud. And Now it's time for the Main event you have The Rock is slowly moving more and more to Hollywood vs the Beast Brock Lesnar who is the next big thing and future of the WWE. This match is amazing, super fun to watch, the crowd was red hot just really good stuff. The Show ends with Brock being the new WWE Champion after hitting an F5 on the Rock to win. I love this show so much, everything was amazing the stage is the best Summerslam stage ever. The vibe is amazing everything is just perfect"

The opener was an incredible PPV debut for Mysterio with Angle making sure that Rey looked like million bucks, Flair vs Jericho had a nice veteran vs younger guy scenario with Ric impressing once more with his phenomenal cardio, while Edge vs Guerrero didn't differ much from other Copeland matches, but it was still fine. WWF Tag Title match wasn't anything special, but it was all about Booker and how over he was with the fans, RVD vs Benoit had a nice angle of Chris working on Van Dam's shoulder in an overall exciting title contest and Taker vs Test was the only underwhelming match here, mostly because of Deadman going back to his awful babyface biker gimmick. Then Michaels vs Triple H was a perfect returning match for HBK and easily the best thing on this show, with Shawn showing that he didn't lose a step in the physical department but also with his ability to get people emotionally involved and the main event started off with a fantastic pace and didn't slow down at no point. Rocky was able to adapt once more to getting booed and the atmosphere surrounding the whole bout was great - just a fantastic moment to put the title on a new star."
[7.0] "I got an original broadcast version so it included the sick as shit Benoit match. Main show takeaways? I'm utterly shocked they're already doing the dumb storyline in PPV thing, I'm completely sick of every wrestler's name during the first match (use a fucking pronoun and talk like a real human being), and I love the speed and intensity of all the work in this. I think it's worked faster than modern matches, I was checking match lengths because I was thinking that I might have been watching it at 1.25 speed except for the Triple H match. The matches were all very good (with a couple notable exceptions for a couple different reasons.) There's a "win a makeout session with Nidia" contest at WWE The World and of course the acting in this show is subporn acting especially with both Bishoff and Steph. Finishers are too strong during this time period, every match ends with a non-submission hit in a desperation, in two matches (Edge and RVD) they got almost no offense in before hitting that finisher and winning anyway. Low blows are in 5 of the 8 matches. There's a fucking misogynistic angle with Howard Finkle and Trish Stratus. Finke got to call women skanks and then immediately turn into a moron when a girl tells him she thinks he's cute. But hey, we GOTTA make sure that we get less than 20 minutes for the main event. And how could Vince let the lines "You've got the puppies and I've got the weiner" go right? Overall, very good show downgraded a bit for the annoying WWE bullshit."

[10.0] "This is not only the best Summerslam of all time, but also one of the very best PPV's the WWE has ever done and although Wrestlemania X-Seven is my favourite PPV ever, I do think this show has the more consistent match quality. It has Shawn Michaels in a masterful comback performance against Triple H, the coronation of the Next Big Thing as Brock Lesnar wins his first World Championship, the lightning fast curtain raiser between Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle and a very good battle between Edge and Eddie Guerrero and I almost forgot the Intercontinental title bout between RVD and Chris Benoit. The card is absolutely stacked here with all but 3 men on the card at e point in their careers wining a World Championship and it delivers big time. It was a special event to me because having missed prime Shawn Michaels in his title run and his contributions to kicking off the Attitude Era, his performance instantly made him one of my all time favourite wrestlers and little did anyone know it was the start of a new run that was arguably greater than his first. It was the match of the year for me and an utter masterpiece of storytelling and drama. The crowd going for the heel Lesnar over The Rock also created a unique atmosphere for the main event where a brand new star is at the top. An essential classic PPV to watch."

The best match was Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio that stole the show, Undertaker vs Test and Chris Jericho vs Ric Flair were simply bad matches and i was honestly expecting a better match between Shawn Michaels and Triple H. I think it was too long and HBK lack of selling hurt the match. The other matches were mediocre and the only thing memorable that happened was the comeback of Shawn Michaels but besides that nothing much happened at the PPV."

[10.0] "The build up to this PPV was more more calculated & well structured than any other in a long time, almost everything on this card meant something (what a throwback concept LOL! ). Angle vs Mysterio open & open HOT, action packed from pillar to post with almost no breathing room & their two styles invite such an affair. Tremendous opener & the best "curtain jerker" for a big show in forever. Is there a list of top 10 opening matches? If so, this should be on it. Short but Impactful! Next up is Flair vs Jericho; some very audible chops from both. Flair starts looking super old & tired about halfway through. It ends a bit abruptly with a submission via The Figure 4. Since the first match also ended in a submission, I think it was a missed opportunity for a 3 count via the figure 4, but I guess it's nice to see the move given submission credibility for a change. Solid, despite the obvious;y rushed end. Eddie Guerrero vs Edge is next and early in the match we establish the only true limb work of the night: Edge's recently injured left shoulder. About the second the crowd begins to bore (because early 00's'murica) the two quadruple the pace (at least) into an exciting climax. Eddie is so freakin great; his versatility as a wrestler/performer is constantly displayed, I could never tire of this man. Very enjoyable! Booker T & Goldust vs Storm & Christian; Being a fan of both teams (well, the unamerican *gimmick* was crap) I knew I would enjoy. Even down to the fart in church ending - this was classic tag team wrestling 101. Zero complaints! Everyone did fantastic work this night. I will not watch nor rate any Benoit match, but if memory serves me correct RVD brought the IC title to RAW, where it was soon vacated but thankfully brought back - because the WWE had no idea WTF they were doing on a week to week basis, EVEN (especially? ) THEN. Now onto the first of 2 "Forgone conclusions". I regret not fast forwarding past this match. The Undertaker sucks; WWE is some kinda monster machine with their revisionist history, cuz this era of Mark Calloway is diarrhea. the crowd was DEAD except for: old school, chokeslams & tombstone. HARD PASS. Shawn Michaels makes his return to the ring after a long absence and us the wrestling fans were READY. Almost no one is on Michaels' level of in ring story telling. Marvelous stuff, a triumphant return and a pivotal moment in wrestling at the time. Michael's reintroduced what I call "JAWS" style wrestling (slower/more natural build). Lastly, "Forgone Conclusion #2" We all knew The Rock was headed to Hollywood and Brock Lesnar was the heir apparent. There are "rocky sucks" chants peppering the match & noticeable boos when Rock applies his ugly "sharpshooter". Still though, better than many main event WWE matches (which were never ever my style). Fast forwarding moments discredited: One of WWE's best PPV's. 9.5 rounded up."

You have five fantastic bouts perfectly placed throughout the event. Kurt vs. Rey is one of the best openers in history, and fast paced. Edge vs. Eddie helped both men, and would continue their rivalry onto better things. The WWE Intercontinental Title Match between Rob Van Dam and Chris Benoit brings sheer work rate, and showed why the Intercontinental Title is valued. Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H and The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar are two of the best matches in the history of SummerSlam, and makes for an amazing semi-main and main event of this show respectively. Each of the five matches bring something different to the table, and all are fantastically worked. Flair vs. Jericho, the World Tag title match, and Test vs. Undertaker did what they needed to do and where keep relatively short. This is one of my all time favourite WWE PPVs due to everything flowing nicely thanks to most matches not going on too long. Which allowed the longer matches to have a special feeling about them. The work rate in WWE from July 2002 to December 2002 was unmatched. And while Survivor Series 2002 is more entertaining that takes my number 4 in my all time favourite WWE PPVs. And this takes my number 3 spot thanks to this show focusing more on work rate, and I have some sentimental value toward this one since it was the first one I watched before I watched Survivor Series 2002. SummerSlam 2002 and Survivor Series 2002 are two of my favourites thanks to nostalgia, heavily recommend watching both of them. But anyways this is the best SummerSlam of all time in my eyes, and is worthy of a high rating on this site."
[6.0] "A mostly good show, and easily the best WWE/F show since Wrestlemania 17 in 2001. Angle vs Mysterio was a very fun, fast-paced opener with a great mix of styles. Just wish it went longer. ***3/4. Y2J vs Flair was awkwardly worked and had a distraction finish. **1/2. Eddie vs Edge was alright, though the win came out of nowhere. ***. Christian & Storm vs Booker & Goldust had the latter team as fun babyface underdogs, though the interference was annoying. **3/4. Benoit vs RVD was quite good. Benoit was aggressive and RVD was impressively acrobatic. ***1/4. Test vs Undertaker was the worst match on the show. Test was boring in control and Taker lethargically went through the motions as he did his signature spots. **. Michaels vs HHH was pretty good. I liked the story of HBK having his first match in 4 years and having to shake off a lot of dust before finding his groove again. HBK worked the crowd very well and they were super hyped for him. HHH was solid all-around, selling HBK's offence well and always being dastardly evil. A shame about HBK totally ignoring his back-selling after his signature kip-up, but at least HHH's back-work prior to that was very good. ***1/4-***1/2. Rock vs Brock was pretty good. I liked how monstrous Lesnar was here, perfectly playing his character and delivering his offence. Rock was shown as far too overly eager to go toe-to-toe with him, which cost him as Lesnar easily just ate him up and always cut off his comebacks. Heyman's interference was annoying, of course, but both men were nicely energetic and produced a nice pace with engaging exchanges. The finishing stretch was surprisingly *not* overkill, at least by usual WWE standards, since both guys only hit one finisher each before Lesnar got the F5 for the win, and they actually threw in some creative and exciting run-on counters leading up to the finish itself, which great to see and a fantastic change from the usual "finisher spam" WWE Championship matches usually devolved into. ***1/4. The MOTN was sadly the first match here, and nothing else lived up to it so everything else felt quite underwhelming, though overall there was still a greater balance of good content than bad content here."

[8.0] "I think it's funny when people on social media post the card to this event with some stupid ass caption like "the IWC nowadays would complain about any show even if it looked like this" which cracks me up every time. I find this so funny because besides the opener, every match before HBK and HHH could seriously get thrown in the garbage can of forgettable matches, never to be seen again. That being said, the opener between Mysterio and Angle is a genuine classic up there with Bret and Owen in contention for best opening match of all time. Brock and Rock was a good WWE main event match, and HHH vs HBK was a really good 15 minute match stretched out to just under 30 (which would become a theme for this two chucklefucks). The middle matches aren't bad or anything. I mean, I didn't even mind Taker vs Test. Booker was mega over in the tag match, and we got some decent performances from RVD, Eddie, Edge and Benoit in matches that weren't classics or anything, but not bad or anything."
[10.0] "This has been considered the greatest SummerSlam event of all time for years now as well as being one of the best PPVs in the entire history of professional wrestling. I have watched this twice now and I enjoyed it even moreso in the second time as I did the first. We got three ****+ bouts, one of which being one of the best matches of the whole year. A couple of fun ***+ in the undercard. A red hot NY crowd that unquestionably RULED the show's atmosphere. The bad stuff (UT/Test) was kept short, and no slog really."

Main-Event das letzte Match von Rock nach einem großen Run und Lesnars Sprung in die ewige Main-Event-Szene(***3/4). Fast nur gute Matches und eine tolle Varietät an Stilen."

[9.0] "Ein hervorragender PPV und neben der Survivor Series im gleichen Jahr der wohl beste Nicht-Wrestlemania PPV der WWE. Der Opener ist für seine Länge sehr stark und die Ansetzung lässt das ja auch erwarten. Flair vs Jericho ist auch eine starke Ansetzung, leider ist das Match nicht so stark und Flair ist wohl auch der falsche Sieger, dennoch wollte man ihn ja auch stark in seinem WWE Return starten lassen. Edge vs Eddie Guerrero ist sehr gut leidet aber etwas an fehlender Matchzeit, sodass es etwas unter den Erwartungen bleibt. Das Tag Team Titlematch ist solide und ebenfalls wie alle Matches am Abend Top besetzt. RVD vs Chris Benoit ist sehr stark und eines der großen Highlights am Abend. Dieses Match bekommt auch genug Zeit um wirklich stark zu sein und RVD kann am Ende den IC Title gewinnen. Undertaker vs Test ist nicht wirklich ein Highlight und der Taker gewinnt hier recht unbedeutend. Shawn Michaels vs HHH ist dann aber das klare MOTN und hätte vielleicht der ME sein sollen. Die Fehde der beiden ist sehr stark und sehr intensiv und dementsprechend war auch das Match. Beide liefern sich hier den erwartbaren harten Brawl mit vielen Spots an die man sich noch erinnert. Dieses Match bekommt zum Glück auch die längste Zeit am Abend wodurch dieser Kampf der beiden Rivalen auch so groß durchgeführt werden kann wie es sein muss. Am Ende gewinnt Michaels das Match, was natürlich die richtige Wahl ist. Lesnar vs The Rock steht dann im ME und auch das ist gut, denn mit Lesnar hat man hier wirklich mit den besten Aufbau ever gemacht, der hier im Sumerslam im ME steht gegen das Topface The Rock und diesem den Titel abnimmt und ein halbes Jahr später steht er auch bei Wrestlemania im Main Event, w as wirklich krass ist. Aber er war auch sehr talentiert und ziehthier aus The Rock ein durchaus starkes Match raus, welches er dann doch dominant gewinnen kann. Sehr starke Show mit wenigen kleinen Schwachpunkten."
[9.0] "Einer der durchweg besten Wrestlingshows mit einer sensationellen Card, die bei heutigen 4-5h Shows und dementsprechenden Matchzeiten vermutlich noch gigantischer und legendärer abgeliefert hätte. Angle und Mysterio mit einem für die Matchzeit sensationellen Opener (****). Flair/Jericho überraschend das schwächste Match des Abends, aber immer noch solide (**½). Edge vs. Guerrero war stark (***¾), so auch RVD/Benoit (***½). Tag Team Title Match war ebenfalls recht gut (***). Taker holt aus Test was ziemlich Solides raus (**¾). Und die zwei Main Events lieferten ziemlich ab. HHH/HBK ist ein zeitloser Wrestling Klassiker (*****, siehe Guide). Rock/Brock ein sehr unterhaltsamer Abschluss (****+). 8. 75/10"
[9.0] "Der Summerslam 2002 steht für mich auf einer Stufe mit so hochklassigen Events wie dem Rumble 2001 und WM 17: Sie sind die besten ihrer Art und gehören bis heute zu den besten WWE PPVs überhaupt. Der SuSl 02 startet mit dem vielleicht zweitbesten WWE-Opener (nach WM 10) überhaupt. Angle und Rey geben die hochklassige Marschrichtung dieses spektakulären Events vor. Y2J vs. Flair ist zwar ein kleiner Downer, aber kein Stinker. Das Match baut sich um den Figure-4 herum auf und setzt leider Jerichos unsäglichen Anti-Push fort. Sowohl bei Edge vs. Eddie, als auch bei RVD und Benoit (die richtig hart zu Werke gehen), hat man das Gefühl, dass da noch mehr drinne gewesen wäre. Dennoch sind das gutklassige Matches. Selbst Taker vs. Test ist überraschenderweise kein Totalausfall. Das MotN und eines der besten Matches der beiden Dauerrivalen HHH und HBK in ihrer langen Fehde. Eine epische Schlacht der Veteranen. Überraschend ist der total lineare Aufbau zweier sich abwechselnder Dominanzphasen. Der eigentliche ME gibt sich kürzer und nüchterner. Der doch recht klare Sieg Lesnars kommt schnell und ansehnlich daher. Würdiges Ende eines fast perfekten Events."
[9.0] "Selten einen Opener gesehen, der seine Aufgabe besser erfüllt. Hat die Crowd absolut angeheizt und ist ein action geladener Spront der durch Mysterios Attacke schnell beginnt und nie wirklich an Tempo nachlässt. Nicht mit der großen Story aber absolut unterhaltsam. Flair gegen Jericho danach lebt vor Allem um die Story rund um Jericho der Flairs Position streitig machen will und dann auch im großen Maße vom "Klauen" des Finishers des anderen, obwohl Flair zeigt, dass er die Meister des Figure Fours ist. Edge gegen Eddie lebt vor Allem von Eddies Shoulderwork, was sich als roter Faden durch das Match zieht mit Edge als Underdog, der am Ende gewinnt. Das Tag Match wird dann vor Allem von USA gegen Anti-USA getragen, hat aber ganz gute Hope Spots und Hot Tags durch die Faces. Benoit gegen van Dam vor der Story Raw gegen Smack Down ist ein Styles Clash, den van Dam überraschend gewinnen kann. Test gegen Undertaker schließt sich vom Motiv her an das Tag Title Match an, nur das hier der "Patriot" gewinnt. Dann kommt mit dem Unscantioned Match das MOTN. Die Story ist wirklich gut und organisch und diese führt auch zu der emotionalen Involvierung mit Shawn als tollen Underdog Face der sellt wie der Teufel und nur kassiert bis er durch die Arroganz von Triple H mit dem Low blow zurück kommt, dann die Oberhand gewinnt und Triple H das alles sehr gut sellt. Das Blut passt auch dazu und außerdem hat man gute Rückbezüge, wie Michaels es Triple H heimzahlt zum Beispiel als er das mit dem Auspeitschen umdreht. Am Ende schafft es Triple H dann doch fast aber dann doch wieder der Überraschungskonter und Sieg für Michaels. Das Segment mit Finkel ist leicht cringeworthy aber okay weil es den richtigen Pay Off hat. Insgesamt eine wirklich gute Show ohne Ausreißer nach unten und mit vielen guten Matches aber zu 10 Punkten fehlt ein bisschen etwas auch im ME. Dieses Match ist ein guter Hoss Fight und das Finish als der F5 endlich durchkommt passt gut aber es ist nich"
[8.0] "Very good PPV. Even the Matches, which were not that great still had a good quality, like Flair vs Jericho or The Tag Match. Undertaker vs Test was probably the "worst" match, still about an average 5/10. I don't agree with the whole 10 point ratings though, because, how it is possible to give a 10, when not a single Match is rated such high overall? I just don't like to throw 10s around. People tend to hate or love everything and are giving only 0s or 10s (sometimes). Of course, you can't just rate totally mathematical. It is also about presentation and feeling. But still, what about an rock solid 8? Even close to 9, but the not so great Matches are draging it down a bit. The Opener was fantastic. Edge vs Guerrero was fine as well, RVD vs Benoit ist underrated in my opinion. I liked it almost as much, as the Opener. The Unsanctioned Match was great storytelling and was very intense. The Main Event was very fine, but not as good as the opener or RVD vs Benoit."
[10.0] "Hands down the most consistent quality PPV I've ever seen. WM X-Seven is often regarded as the best PPV of all time and I agree wholeheartedly but it does have its share of dud matches. This PPV however, has only two good matches (Taker v Test and Benoit vs RVD, I'm just not a huge fan honestly but it's still got its share of great spots) but everything else ranges from great (Angle vs Mysterio, Eddie vs Edge and Flair vs Jericho are some personal favs) to almost perfect with Brock vs Rock chalked up with a perfect semi-main in HHH vs Michaels, one of my new fav matches of all time. Such a fucking good PPV, probably my 2nd fav of all time."
[10.0] "One of the all time great WWE shows, this is a must watch PPV. There are two average matches in the show but the rest of the card is so strong it doesnt matter. Angle and Mysterio had ridiculously good chemistry during their opener which was as good as a ten minute match can be. Edge and Eddie had a basic but impressive match with decent psychology. The tag team match was good with a dirty finish. Benoit and RVD had a great match that was only burdened by it's pace. Triple H & HBK had a bloody and brutal match packed full of intensity and emotion which delivered everything it promised and ended perfectly. The Main Event was a great match with Rock and Brock just working the crowd perfectly, plus the manager play with Heyman was great."

The Shawn Michaels Triple H was definitely the highlight of the card though and stole the show a great story with a nice match to back it up. The main event was a little bit lackluster considering the match that just took place but was very good none the less. Overall a solid pay per view."
[8.0] "Genialer Opener, du kannst kaum besser starten. Ric Flair vs Jericho ja eine idee schlechter hier ging es nur um einen Move im Match(der dann auch noch das Ende bringt). Eddie vs Edge war auch "gut", hätte zu gerne Edge vs Eddie 2006 oder 2007 gesehen. Das Tag Team Match fällt dann in der Qualität ab. RVD vs Benoit ist natürlich gut, was beide aber auch konnten. Undertaker vs Test war dann Feel Good Moment ohne besonderen Wert. HBK vs Triple H(YES endlich ist mein All Star Favorite Wrestler Back). Triple H & HBK feuern dann das zu erwartene Match auch ab. Für mich vielleicht sogar der Main Event. Aber das liegt dann eher auch an meinen Geschmack, da beide zu meinen Lieblingswrestler bis Heute zählen. Ganz klar dagegen gibt es eben die Wrestler die ich nicht gerne sehe und der steht im Main Event. (sorry da hilft dann leider auch The Rock nicht). Fazit:Insgesamt ist der PPV tatächlich noch besser als Rumble&Wrestlemania 2002. Einen Krassen Stinker gibt es Optisch nicht. Aufgrund der gesamten Matchqualtität gebe ich 8Punkte."

Typisch der Matchverlauf für ein Mysterio Match, bei dem der Gegner dominiert & Rey einzelne Gegenschläge zeigen kann. Hätte ruhig ein paar Minuten länger gehen können. (3 3/4*) 2. Flair gegen Y2J ist für mich der Tiefpunkt des Abends. Kann mich an keinen richtigen Move von Flair in diesem Match erinnern. Flair chopt sich hier elf Minuten durchs Match. (2*) 3. Edge gegen Guerrero ist dann wieder gut. (3 3/4*) 4. Tag Team Title Match war okay. (2 1/4*) 5. RVD gegen Benoit war wieder besser. (3 1/2*) 6. Taker gegen Test war für ein Big Men Match okay. (2 1/4*) 7. HBK gegen HHH siehe Guide. 8. ME siehe Guide. SS02 gehört sicher zu den Besten seiner Art. Wirklichen Stinker gab es nicht. Zudem brennen sich die Szenen nach dem Co-ME ins Gedächtnis ein. Für mich in den Top 3 WWE PPVs des Jahres."

[8.0] "This was a pretty good PPV, however was just short of a full home run. I couple of the match ups (Taker/Test was one of them) just did not do it for me. It did however have the big moments of Shawn Michael's return and Brock Lesnar's final ascension to the top of the company that made it a PPV worthy of many re-watches."
[8.0] "So ganz kann ich die astronomische Gesamtwertung und einige Meltzer-Sternchen nicht verstehen. Ohne die beiden überragenden Main Events gab es - gerade bei den involvierten Namen - doch einiges an Durchschnitt. Der Opener ist stark aber nicht gerade lang. Gute Eröffnungskämpfe sind eine der wenigen Künste, die die WWE selbst in der heutigen Ära noch beherrscht. Den Bärenanteil leistet hier ohne Frage Kurt Angle (***1/4). Jericho vs. Flair enttäuscht. Bis auf seine Chops und den Figure Four hat der Nature Boy hier nichts unfallfrei hinbekommen. Wohl Ringrost zu jener Zeit. Jericho kann nicht viel retten (**). Bei Eddie vs. Edge war die Crowd bis auf die zweifelsohne guten Finishing-Minuten komplett tot (**1/2). Das Match um die Tag Titles hat Standard-Fernsehniveau. Booker, der hier den Hot Tag bekommt, und Goldie waren ohnehin bloß ein Würfelteam. Die Tag Team-Szene war bei Smackdown bedeutend stärker (**1/4). Bei Benoit vs. RVD geht es dann endlich wieder bergauf. Working on a Bodypart ist nicht jedermanns Geschmack, aber hier geht der Rabid Wolverine richtig stiff zu Werke (***). Biker-Taker vs. Test ist der übliche Big Men Brawl. In der Länge zum Glück weder zu kurz noch zu lang. Wirklich gut ist das Gesehene nicht aber eben auch nicht übel. Geht in Ordnung (**1/4). Das Unsanctioned Match erfüllt dann alle Erwartungen. Konsequent erzählt, derbe hart und brutal, Michaels dazu noch mit so manchem Spot. Grandios (****1/2). Das In Ring-Segment zwischen Howard Finkle, Lillian Garcia und der wie immer lecker anzusehenden Trish habe ich nicht wirklich kapiert. Die merkwürdige Rolle, die The Fink damals anscheinend gespielt hat, muss an mir vorbeigegangen sein. Für mich ist er einfach nur der beste Ringsprecher, den WWE je hatte. Schon erstaunlich, wieviele Parallelen Rock vs. Brock zu Cena vs. Brock aufweist. Hollywood-Rocky bahnte sich an, die Fans waren schon zur Hälfte gegen ihn geturnt, Lesnar ist halt Lesnar. Starke Crowd, sehr gutes Match hier (****)."
[10.0] "Für mich einer der besten Opener den ich jemals gesehen habe ****3/4. Jericho vs Flair war schlecht! Da konnte auch ein Jericho nichts dran ändern das Finish auch nicht so gut denn er wurde in den Figure4 genommen und hat SOFORT abgeklopft. **1/2 Edge vs Eddie war gut aber bei den beiden erwartet man eigentlich noch mehr! ***3/4 Das Tag Team Title Match war inordnung aber mehr nicht! *** Von RVD vs Benoit hat man auch mehr erwartet trotzdem war es gut. ***3/4 Taker vs Test hätte man sich sparen können trotzdem war es nicht schlecht sondern solide. *** Das Unsanctioned Match war großartig es war nicht unnötig Brutal sondern hat Fehdenmäßig gepasst. ****3/4 Guter Main Event was ich aber nicht so wahrgenommen habe da das Match vorher so gut war. Trotzdem hab ich soviel mitbekommen das ich ***1/2 geben kann. Kein perfekter PPV aber nahezu Perfekt. Man hätte vielleicht Test vs Taker zwichen HHH vs HBK und Brock vs Rock packen sollen damit man von dem NO DQ Match runterkommt ansonsten guter PPV."
[9.0] "Super PPV. Hier stimmte wirklich sehr vieles. Die Vorfreude auf diesen PPV war schon sehr groß und die Matches boten dann jede Menge Unterhaltung. Auf das Debüt von Rey Mysterio in der WWE war man sehr gespannt. Und wenn man ihn dann noch gegen Kurt Anlge stellt kann nur ein super Match dabei heraus kommen. Genau das zeigten die beiden im Opener auch. Jericho gegen Flair und Edge gegen Guerrero waren solide, obwohl man sicher gerade bei Edge gegen Guerrero mehr erwarten konnte. Auch das Tag team Title Match war Mittelmaß. Es folgte die größte Enttäuschung und das schwächste Match des PPV´s. Was Benoit und RVD zeigten war wirklich schwach und gerade von den beiden eigentlich nicht zu erwarten. Test gegen den Undertaker war besser als erwartet. Es folgte das Match des Abends zwischen Michaels und Triple H. Was die beiden zeigten war der absolute Hammer. Vor allem aber was Shawn Michaels nach so langer Verletzungspause noch zu leisten im Stande war, war unglaublich. Ein Klassiker. Der Main Event zwischen Lesnar und The Rock konnte daran nahtlos anknüpfen. Super Main Event in dem vor allem die Schlussphase spannend und voller Action war."
[9.0] "Grandioser PPV mit einer Wahnsinns-Card und keinem einzigen Ausfall. Hier stehen quasi nur aktuelle oder kommende MainEventer auf der Card (Ausnahmen: Goldust, Lance Storm und Test). Einzelne Matches hervorzuheben macht keinen Sinn, da alle gut waren. Wenn man einen echt runden Event schauen will, ist man hier genau richtig."

[10.0] "Sehr guter PPV. Der Opener war exzellent. Einer der besten Opener vielleicht auch der beste Opener den ich je gesehen habe. Es gab keine Sekunde Ruhepause. Ein technisches Festival. Flair vs Y2J war in Ordnung. Eine ordentliche Länge mit einem ordentlichen Match. Eddie vs Edge war in Ordnung. UnAmericans vs Booker T und Goldust war in Ordnung. Beide Match sind im grünen Bereich. Kein Happy End das die UnAmericans nicht verloren haben. Benoit vs RVD war gut. Ein ziemlich unterbewertetes Match mit RAW dem glücklicheren Ende. Test vs Undertaker war in Ordnung. Das schwächste Match des PPVs. Test war nie richtig gut im Ring und auch mit Hilfe mit Christian und Lance Storm hat der Leader es nicht geschafft den American Badass zu besiegen. Triple H vs HBK war exzellent. Zwei phänomenale Matches in einem PPV. HBK hatte vier Jahre nicht mehr gekämpft und trotzdem hat er nichts verletzt. Das war eine absolute Hardcore Schlacht sowie es HBK auch mit Y2J bei Unforgiven 2008 getan hat nur das bei dem PPV keine PG Ausrichtung war. Das Triple H noch so lebendig wirkte nach dem Match samt dem Schlag mit dem Hammer war echt krass. Dann kriegt Howard Finkel ein Tritt zwischen die Beine von Lilian. Naja kann man so stehen lassen. Der Main-Event war gut. Das letzte Match von Rocky in der er regelmäßig kämpfte. Man wie ich mir diese Fehde in der jetzigen WWE wünsche. Jedenfalls war es ein starkes Match der einen perfekten PPV abrundet. Wer auch immer diesen PPV bestenfalls als durchschnitt bezeichnet hat keine Ahnung."
[8.0] "Opener siehe Matchguide (***3/4) Flair vs. Y2J war leider kein besonders gutes Match. Es scheint nur aus Chops zu bestehen, was bei Flair Matches schon was heißen soll. Blödsinnig dazu das austappen von Flair nach dem er die Hand im Seil hat. Finish mit Old School Flair gefällt mir hingegen gut (*1/2) Eddie vs. Edge siehe MG (***1/4) Tag Titles Match war typische Tag Action mit Bearbeitungsphase, False Tag und Hot Tag. Muss nicht immer schlecht sein und war hier absolut solide. Nach dem Ref Bump war ein unfairer Sieg der Heels allerdings offensichtlich (**) I-C Title siehe MG (***1/4) Taker vs. Test wie zu erwarten nicht gut. Einfach ziemlich öde und auch hier offensichtliches Finish (*) HBK vs. HHH siehe MG (****) Main Event siehe MG (***1/4) Mindestens jedes zweite Match an diesem Abend war absolut stark oder empfehlenswert. Hab ich über WM 19 noch geschrieben, dass man dort wohl die beste Card der WWE Geschichte auf die Beine stellte, sieht man wohl mit dieser Card den größten Konkurrenten. Was diesem PPV zu einer höheren Wertung fehlt ist ein weiteres ****+ Match. Ansonsten einer der unterhaltsamsten PPV´s aller Zeiten!"
[10.0] "Absolut fantastisch. Nicht nur der wahrscheinlich beste PPV des an sehenswerten Shows und Wrestling nicht unbedingt armen Jahres 2002, sondern der vielleicht beste Summerslam aller Zeiten und eine der besten WWE-Shows überhaupt. Ohne sich jetzt weiter in Superlativen verlieren zu wollen: Neben einer glänzenden Atmosphäre samt und dank lautem Publikum bot der Event einfach ganz starkes Wrestling, einen kurzweilig stringenten Aufbau und mehrheitlich gutes Booking. Nach einem der kurzweiligsten und rasantesten Opener in der WWE-Historie folgt eine sehr solide Undercard bei der Eddie vs. Edge sowie Benoit vs. RVD nochmal herausstechen ehe die Show nach ihrem einzigen Durchhänger in Form des zu einseitig und zu unspektakulären Taker vs. Test Squash-Szenarios mit den Unsenctioned-Match ihr Herzstück präsentiert. HBK feiert ein großartiges In-Ring-Comeback nach seiner langen Pause und bringt mit Triple H an seiner Seite ein blutig-, hochintensives und actiongeladenes Meisterwerk auf die Beine. Der Main Event mit der Fackelübergabe von Rock an Brock rundet die Show in Form eines würdigen Titelmatches und einer gelungenen Feuerprobe für The Next Big Thing noch zusätzlich ab und entlässt den Zuschauer schlicht und ergreifend mit dem Gefühl, Zeuge von was ganz großem gewesen zu sein. Fesselnd, unterhaltsam und absolut großartig: Der Summerslam 2002. Einfach einsame Spitze."

[9.0] "Ein verdammt starker PPV mit 2 sehr starken Matches. Der Street Fight mit dem Comeback von HBK und dem Main Event mit Brocks Titelgewinn. Der Opener war ebenfalls stark in der kurzen Zeit. Die übrigen Matches waren allesamt solide. Kein einziges schwaches Match auf der Card, insgesamt ein super SummerSlam!"
[9.0] "Von vorne bis hinten ein sehr guter PPV. Nur Taker vs. Test und das Tag Title Match sind etwas langweilig passen nicht ganz in diesen ansonsten sehr guten Slam. Damals war der SummerSlam auch noch ein ganz besonderer PPV und nicht wie heute einer von vielen, der sich in keinster Weise von den anderen PPVs abhebt. Das Highlight des Abends ist natürlich Shawn vs. HHH."
[6.0] "Wie schon WM 17 kann ich den Hype nicht ganz nachvollziehen. Zwar sind wirklich gute bis ordentliche Matche dabei doch gerade das ME halte ich für gröstenteil langweilig. Eddie und Edge sowieso RVD und Benoit können das besser. Test vs Taker ist zudem ein wirklich schlechtes Match."
[10.0] "Ein Summerslam wie er sein soll. Alle Matches und Angles waren gut, mit Brock wurde ein neuer Topstar kreeirt. Vorallem Rey vs Angle, Shawn vs HHH und auch Brock gegen The Rock waren Matches die mir besonders an diesem Event erinnern. Bester Summerslam in meinen Augen."
[8.0] "Ein starker PPV mit 2 sehr starken Matches, der Street Fight mit dem Comeback von HBK und dem Main Event mit Brocks Titelgewinn. Der Opener war ebenfalls stark in der kurzen Zeit. Die übrigen Matches dagegen waren meist nur solide aber keineswegs schlecht. Daher reicht es nicht ganz zu einer höheren Wertung aber der PPV war schon echt gut mit lauten Fans."
[10.0] "SS 2002 gehört zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsveranstaltungen. Die Leistungen und die Chemie der Veranstaltung zählt zum Besten, was man wohl je bestaunen durfte. Rey vs. Angle, der wahrscheinlich beste Opener aller Zeiten. Die Midcard Kämpfe allesamt gut bis sehr gut. Das Epochale Aufeinandertreffen von Michaels und HHH konnte nicht mal vom fantasitschen Main Event zwischen Rock und Brock überboten werden. Einmalig!"
[10.0] "Erstklassiger Summerslam. Man kann ohne Zweifel behaupten, dass dies der beste Slam bisher war und wohl auch so schnell nicht mehr übertroffen wird. Kein einziges Match fällt negativ auf, mit Rey/Angle, Benoit/RVD und Lesnar/Rock hat man 3 sehr gute Matches, mit HHH/HBK sogar ein noch besseres. Top PPV."
[9.0] "Fantastischer SummerSlam, bereits der zweite in Folge an dem es nicht wirklich etwas auszusetzen gibt. Highlight ist natuerlich das Comeback Match von Shawn Michaels, doch stank auf dieser Card nicht wirklich etwas ab (Taker vs Test war vielleicht etwas kurz, ueber das Tag Match kann man streiten). Asolut sehenswerter Event!"
[6.0] "Ich verstehe den Hype nicht... HHH vs HBK hat mir zwar gefallen, aber es sind keine *****... Den Mainevent fand ich eher schwach. Angle vs Rey ging zu kurz um über *** hinauszukommen. Gab schon besseres, verstehe nicht wieso dieser PPV als bester der WWE hier drin steht"
[10.0] "Der beste Slam aller Zeiten und sicher auch in der Top 3 der besten WWE PpVs aller Zeiten. Herausstechend waren der Opener. Einer der besten überhaupt. Was da geboten wurde bläst heutige PpVs im Alleingang von der Landkarte. Dann natürlich noch das Unsanctioned Match, was zu meinen persönlichen Lieblingsmatches zählt. Auch sonst gabs eigentlich kein schwaches Match. Somit ganz klar die 10. Ein PpV den man sich immer wieder anschauen kann. Wäre schön sowas 2009 auch nochmal geboten zu bekommen."
[10.0] "Ein absolut (man verzeihe) geiler PPV! Selten hat die WWE eine dermaßen geniale Mid-Card zusammengestellt bekommen, um dann nach einer Pinkel- und Bierhol-Pause (Taker vs. Test) noch einen Gang höher zu schalten. HHH-HBK war sensationell, und auch Brock vs. Rock konnte mich vollends überzeugen. Zehn Punkte!"
[9.0] "Endlich wieder ein schöner WWF PPV. Vom Opener über Edge vs. Eddie, RVD vs. Benoit und den beiden Main Events gibt es fast nur klasse Action, ohne wirklich langweilig zu werden. Das nennt man dann wohl einen sehr guten PPV, 9 Punkte."
[10.0] "Nahezu perfekte Show: Shawn Michaels kehrt mit einem sensationellen Match in den Ring zurück und Brock Lesnar steigt mit seinem Sieg über The Rock entgültig zum neuen Top Star der Company auf. Dazu kommt ein ganz starker Opener und eine sehr ansehnliche Midcard. Ohne Zweifel einer der stärksten WWE PPV´s aller Zeiten!"
[10.0] "Der zwischenzeitliche Abschied vom Great One, der gleichzeitig die Ära Lesnar einläutete, ein unfassbarer Opener und ein noch unfassbareres HBK Comeback! Was für ein Summer Slam! Gigantisch!"
[8.0] "Michaels vs. Triple H war saustark. Vor allem weil es die so lang ersehnte Rückkehr vom Showstopaaah war. Rest des PPV's (insbesondere auch der Main Event) war gut, aber für ne 1 reicht es am Ende nicht ganz. Trotzdem ein Event, den man aufgrund der Bedeutung von HBK's Return und Lesnars Titlegewinn alleine schon gesehen haben sollte."
[10.0] "Der einzige Pay Per View des Jahres, der die Note 'sehr gut' abräumen durfte. Vom fantastischen Opener über diverse gute bis starke Matches bis zur Rückkehr von Shawn Michaels nach über fünf Jahren Ringpause sowie der Fackelübergabe im Main Event eine durchweg grandiose Veranstaltung, die ich mir euch heutzutage noch gerne mal wieder anschaue. Leider die einzige ihrer Art in der WWE 2002."
