[8.0] "Excellent show. I have two matches as 9/10 (Omega vs Pac; Lucha Bros vs Young Bucks) and another as an 8/10 (sponsored plunder match). If you average my individual match ratings on this card it equals 7.4, which seems right. Giving the show as a whole an 8+. It's really impressive AEW was able to put on a PPV of this caliber that early on. I can see why they were so hot when they were the new promotion on the scene in 2019-20. Great matches, great card, great crowd. Plus they "debuted" Orange Cassidy and Santana & Ortiz. If they just cut one match (Dark Order tag) and shortened the Main Event, this might have been a 9/10 overall."

I think he was just hungry for some Cracker Barrel and would've rather have been anywhere else but there to call that show. Other than that, loved it. Nothing truly terrible, even it's "lows" I still liked, and wasn't really the fault of the wrestlers. just merely other factors like the lackluster commentary and the crowd being a little dead, especially during Shida and Riho."

[7.0] "No bad matches and two excellent bouts to end the show. Some matches suffered from a lack of storylines and weekly programming. Beyond a more than satisfactory in-ring performance, AEW offered us some great pops with the more or less surprising arrivals of Orange Cassidy, Arn Anderson, and Santa and Ortiz. All in a very heated atmosphere, although a little too subdued during the women's match. The overall rating does not include the three-way match due to the presence of the problematic Jimmy Havoc. In-ring quality: 3.5/5. Angles and non-match segments: 1.75/3. Bonuses/penalties: atmosphere +0.25. Total: 7.5/10. Show seen on Fite TV."

Other than the unnecessary Best Friends/Dark Order tag match, there didn't feel like any dead weight. The ladder match was the best of the night, but i also quite enjoyed Omega/Pac and the absurdity of the Cracker Barrel match."

Most of these matches suffered a lot from lack of TV to build a proper story line or feud. Thankfully this is the last AEW PPV I should be having that complaint but I still had fun."

Cody v Spears was surprisingly really entertaining , the hardcore 3 way was fun as hell but theres alot of misses on this show that brought it down to a 7 i never understood the push for dark order especially before Brodie when he came in i got it because hes one hell of a talent but at this time while there matches are decent theres no connection to them, Riho winning again by rollup i didnt understand esipcally when she ends up beating Nyla. Pac v Kenny was a disappointment i remembered it being a amazing match but it was good not great. so all in all this show was good but not great."

[6.0] "I remember going online after this show, people said that the ladder match should've been the main even. I so disagree with having another promotion's tag titles main event over your own world title, but I think it speaks volumes about the construction of this card and how poorly of a job they did building up Hangman coming into this PPV. I was at this PPV in person and I had a lot of fun being there, but this isn't a show I think about very often. I wish they would've done more to make the main event memorable, especially considering the fact that they were crowning their inaugural world champion. I also thought the match with Kenny Omega and PAC, while making PAC look like a million bucks, did absolutely nothing to help Kenny Omega. They did not do a very good job of keeping Omega hot at all at the start of AEW. He went from biggest non-WWE wrestler in the world to just another guy on the AEW roster, and it took them a good bit to build him back up. MVP of the show goes to The Lucha Brothers for a crazy semi-main event."

[8.0] "Make that 4/4 consistently strong PPVs to kick off AEW's debut 2019 slate. Chris Jericho gets the right booking as the inaugural champion, instantly legitimizing the company's brand power and not doing much damage to Adam Page's star on the rise in the process. Of course, we should really be talking about that AAA tag title ladder match first and foremost. The Young Bucks and Lucha Brothers delivered yet another unbelievable classic, and this was the first true 5* match of the company's output, in my opinion. The other two PPV encounters between the Young Bucks and Lucha Brothers were also incredible and creatively athletic contests, but the unmasking spot of this match really put the storytelling over the top of the others. I still haven't found a single under-5/10 dud on an AEW PPV yet to this point. The Riho/Shida match was likely the weakest. They had a couple notably sloppy moves, and I somewhat question the booking, but I still thought it was an entertaining contest overall. It was also nice to see AEW do something for the importance of the women's division by booking a 1v1 match with #1 contendership stakes instead of repeating the type of reasonably entertaining (but also pointless matches) that we were seeing earlier from that division on PPVs. The Cracker Barrel Clash, a hardcore triple threat match, was both extremely silly and extremely awesome at the same time, with really fun and creative prop usage. I'm glad to see AEW can be self-aware about its product placement and turn it into a good thing by midcard standards. Another thing I really appreciated about the show was the storytelling of the "will he or won't he turn on him" between MJF and Cody; it was extremely well done. The depth of talent on this roster and card are incredible. It says a lot when you have two guys like Kenny Omega and Pac delivering a high workrate banger in the early-midcard just as a non-stakes time filler to please the crowd. AEW continues to dominate 2019 as a league. I'm looking forward to the weekly Dynamite shows beginning between this and the next PPV now so that we can finally see some calculated storyline builds to the next PPV."

[8.0] "This was a great Pay-Per-View, although it falls a little short of some of their later offerings. The opening match between SCU and The Jurassic Express got the show off to a hot start. PAC and Kenny Omega followed this up with a very good match. Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela, and Darby Allin kept thing rolling with an excellent Crackle Barrel Clash. Things finally got a little rough as The Dark Order and Best Friends compete for a bye in the first found of the Tag Team Title Tournament. The match was fine, but easily the weakest of the night. Riho and Hikaru Shida got things back on track with a good match. Cody and Shawn Spears had another good match. The Lucha Brothers and the Young Bucks had the match of the night with their ladder match for the AAA World Tag Team Titles. Finally, Chris Jericho and Adam Page had a good match for the World Title."

[5.0] "Other than PAC and Omega I gotta say this show dragged badly and was pretty much a disappointment all the way through with the second best match being Cody Rhodes vs Shawn Spears. The last two matches really let the whole show down badly as Jericho looked really bad out there despite Page trying his best and the ladder match lacked any real psychology"
celticinvader wrote on 03.06.2024:
[7.0] "Like all of these early AEW PPVs, good but I have notes. Definitely should not have run four hours long, if I was booking Id have cut down the Kenny/PAC match to 15 minutes and scrapped the Dark Order/Best Friends match entire (a really dreadful watch). Id have also opened the show with the title match so its not overshadowed by the thrilling action coming before it. Even through all that though, there was still some brilliance here. AEW seem to have finally figured out how to book spotfests with storytelling and psychology if that Bucks/Lucha ladder match is anything to go by, and that Cracker Barrel match was a perfectly paced deathmatch with insane moments. Other matches ranged from pretty good to great."

[8.0] "This wasn't on the level of Double or Nothing but it was still a great follow-up to AEW's first ever show that kept the company's momentum on going. The match of the night was by far Lucha Bros vs. Young Bucks, one of the craziest matches I've ever seen. Omega vs. Pac was a great match with a shocking outcome. But the whole night in general was filled with good matches, that ranged from a crazy massacre such as the Cracker Barrel three way, a fast-paced opening bout in SCU vs. Jurassic Express or a funny overbooked mess such as Cody vs Spears. The only bad match on the show was Dark Order vs. Best Friends. However I think the main issue of this show was not having a worthy main event. Jericho vs. Page was fine but, for me, it was extremely underwhelming and turned out to be a huge disappointment that left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Jericho becoming the first ever World champion was still a big moment but it could've been even bigger if it came after a better match. Really good show overall. 8/10"

An insane Escalera de la Muerte (Ladder) match was the absolute highlight of this show for me. A very good showing for early AEW here; the company gaining some great momentum going into their AEW Dynamite debut on TNT."

[9.0] "Their first show to be that good, at this point. The first three matches are excellent and the ladder match between The Young Bucks and The Lucha Brothers is great (maybe a little overrated) and it helped to regain some momentum after the kinda lame and over-hyped match between Cody and Shawn Spears. The main event to crown the first ever AEW World Champion was really good, even if it's not the best fight of the card. Jericho did well for the second time and Page looked pretty solid and credible as a contender. The Jericho's promo after the show is fantastic, by the way. The man still knows how to use a microphone and to get heat. Orange Cassidy and Santana & Ortiz made their first appearance, here."

Allin vs. Janela vs. Havoc was a crazy and super fun massacre. Dark Order vs. Best Friends wasn't very good: the action was fine but the crowd was dead and they botched the ending. Riho vs. Shida was a pretty good match despite some ankward moments. Cody vs. Spears was pretty fun especially because of all the shenanigans. Lucha Bros vs. Young Bucks was one of wildest spotfests I've ever seen. Page vs. Jericho was a very undewhelming match to crown the first ever Aew World champion. Overall: lots of ups and a couple of downs for one the most underrated shows in the company's history."

Then, a match who didn't failed to deliver between PAC and Omega, this was clearly the second best match of the show. This was followed by an entertaining triple threat "light" hardcore match with some good spots. The other half of the show was not as good (CASSIDY IS FINALLY ALL ELITE) but it contained the Match Of The Night (the ladder match) and a good enough Main Event. Overall, an entertaining show, AEW did not fail his bet and offered a quality PPV."

[6.0] "First three matches were fun. The opener shined mainly due to Luchasaurus, PAC/Omega had nifty exchanges and a smart ending, while the Cracker barrel was an astounding crash derby. Joshis and Dark Order/Best Friends were adequate, but had nice enough surprises. Cody/Spears was a solid Crockett style grudge match with necessary flashbacks in its overbooking, Bucks/Lucha Bros was the peak of the night, great spotfest. The main event was solid, albeit Jericho cannot take it anymore for that long... but great choice having him as the first champ. Satisfactory pro wrestling event."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 13.09.2019:
[8.0] "Good show overall with a good variety of matches. Particular standouts include a high-level spotfest match in the Bucks vs. Lucha Bros. , good storytelling in Cody vs. Spears, a solid bout with a surprise finish in PAC vs. Omega, and a fun hardcore three-way in the Cracker Barrel Clash. In the main event, I think Jericho is ultimately the right choice to go with as first champ; it gives the main event a great heel for up-and-coming babyfaces to chase and gives the title lineage a big name to start with. Page will have plenty of time to grow into main event status; in the meantime I could see Cody as the next face challenger with a long game played with Omega on a quest for redemption vs. PAC and Mox before challenging for the gold. I also wouldn't mind seeing a midcard singles belt introduced so guys like the Janelas and Havocs of the roster have something to fight for. Anyway, a good effort to lead into AEW's TV era."

(***), Best Friends vs. Dark Order was extremely underwhelming; have always really liked SSB/Dark Order, but here their work was meh at best, worst match of the night for sure (*1/2), Shida/Riho was a good, competitive bout w/ them playing off the natural dynamic with Riho from underneath & Shida largely dominating (***), Cody/Spears RULED; had so much fun with it right from the entrances till the end, absolutely great stuff (****), Lucha Bros vs. Bucks was them doing their thing w/ some ladder stuff involved -- I think one of the biggest compliments you could give it is to say it didn't feel very long at all even with its 24-minute runtime (***), Hangman/Jericho was a rock solid, good main event (***). Another banger of a show for AEW w/ lots to love. Only real miss was the Dark Order's match."

The main event was much better than I thought it was going to be, whereas PAC vs Omega fell short of my expectations, but was still a good match. Elsewhere the triple threat was also very entertaining, however it definitely won't be for everyone. Overall a good show with no bad matches, but only one match that I would consider great."

[7.0] "This has been heavily hyped, so let's review while watching the show. Opening match was a good showcase for both teams. Nothing of note worth pointing out. Omega/PAC took a bit to get me interested, but my God that was a great match. I'm no huge fan of either guy nor spot-fests, but this was hard hitting and brilliantly executed. The closing stretch was great and the fans being shocked by the result made this feel important. Ignoring the botch towards the end. I heavily enjoyed the three way match, but I had to knock some points off because I truly cringed at some of the spots they did. As great as it was to witness, I can't help but feel concerned for the safety of the wrestlers. Some spots were just brutal. Best Friends vs Dark Order was a snooze-fest that nearly put me to sleep. Absolutely uninteresting. The women's match was a solid and fun match that played its role perfectly. Both women did well here, even if it took a bit to get me interested. Cody/Spears started off well and but ultimately dragged. Outside interference didn't affect my thoughts much, but Arn Anderson giving Spears a spine buster wasn't believable at all, as much as Cody's intensity was. Still a pretty good match. Ladder match... it was extremely fun and well done. I'll give them that. Lucha Bros carried the spot monkeys well, but similar to the triple threat earlier, some crazy bumps made this cringe-worthy. The main was fine for what it was. It went a bit longer than I would have liked, but both men did the best they could. While there was nothing noteworthy, it was still a solid match with the right result. As an event, I found this to be a solid show that had a little for everyone, but definitely not the best AEW has produced so far. It also went much longer than necessary."

Due to the different style of booking, there might be something for everyone. There has been a bit more botching than usual, but most wrestlers handled it pretty good. What's expected to get better is the production quality. It doesn't have to be perfect, but some aspects e. g. theme song repeating can be worked on in the future."

Anyone upset over Jericho winning really needs to ask themselves if they wanted Rope Boy to be first world champion over an international legend. The ladder match was impeccable, down to the post match. I also really enjoyed the opener and the hardcore match, but every match was worth a viewing. Shows like this are what WWE will need to compete with."

Ending with the crowning of the first AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, the company set sail into TV white hot, delivering a masterfully executed (even if a bit too long) production. Props to the commentary team who seemed to have had a blast and helped to set a fun yet professional tone throughout the show."

[8.0] "Really a very solid show from top to bottom, most matches delivered and like DON there was a high variety of style, from the terrifying hardcore match to the neck crashing ladder one, from the epicly felt main event to the awesome brutality of Omega vs PAC, even the overbooking and interferences of Cody vs Spears made sense and added to a PPV that really had every type of wrestling possible, and in the worst case the matches were enjoyable and fast paced even when they didn't have a real story behind them (like the opener for example). It was really a tremendous effort by every performer and the large variety of styles meant the show was never annoying to watch even if it was too long, a problem that is shared with New Japan and WWE, aka the other majors. I'm still perplexed over the booking regarding the women's division (Rose is 0-2 and got the match cause Bea hates Britt..... ) and the Dark Order (didn't like their match with Trent and Chuckie), but a great show overall. Surprised that PAC beat Omega cleanly."

There was never really a dull moment in this match and the crowd was invested all the way through. good stuff, especially from Luchasaurus [***1/2]. PAC vs Omega was a great and solid match. It was awesome to see PAC in AEW. Dude is such a star. The match started off greatly and I was invested all the way through except for some outside action that dragged on a tad bit. This match serves as a great way in progression for both guys though. I loved the finish and hopefully we get more from these two between eachother [****]. Havoc/Darby/Allin was everything I expected. Total chaos and an amazing crowd pleaser [***3/4] The Dark Order vs The Best Friends dragged on a little over 5 minutes too long. Not invested in TDO at all. Orange Cassidy bumps up the score one point [**]. Hiro/Shida was great. Hiros over as fuck and is a star. Greatly paced and a solid showing for both women [***1/4]. Cody/Spears started off amazingly hot. Rhodes is over AF but Spears lacks charisma and the star-power that Cody possesses. This match was great but I feel like a majority of its reception has to do with Arn, Tully and MJF and what will come after (MJF's heel turn). No one really cares for Shawn. [***1/2]. Lucha Bros vs The Young Bucks was fucking incredible. This match isn't for everyone but my god did I [And the crowd] love every second of this. Nothing more to say here. [****1/2]. Jericho/Page started off with a lot of momentum, but Jericho's blatant and un-needed blade job was ridiculous and slowed this match down A LOT. The middle portions of this bout was sloppy and boring. I found myself wondering if anyone would make a post-match appearance and it was obvious who was going to win. They got the crowd back in the 2nd half with some surprisingly solid wrestling though. Jericho was the star here and the result was right. Page needs a bit more building to do [***1/4]."

Riho vs Shida was good, not amazing but certainly not bad Cody once again told a great story Lucha Bros vs Bucks was everything you expect, excellent spots, you either love or hate that style The Main even was a bit slow, especially after the blade but the result was right. [5.0] "The show was ok, but very disappointing based on what they want to achieve. All Out took a lot of the hype and expectation away from AEW going in to their first weekly show on TNT. The opener was alright but Marko Stunt really doesn't need to be part of the Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy team, they're fine on their own. PAC vs. Omega was a good match, a little bit botchy and I was expecting more out of them to be honest. Havoc vs. Allin vs. Janela was everything I hate about AEW and modern wrestling, with the stupid paper cut comedy spots and the obnoxious advertisement. Dark Order vs. Best Friends put me to sleep, nobody cares about the Dark Order, horrible gimmick. Another match that put me to sleep was Riho vs. Hikaru Shida, I don't know why AEW insists on having every joshi on their shows, extremely botchy, they can be good but the crowd just didn't care, they have good talent like Britt Baker and Bea Priestley, one of them should've been the contender instead. You really want me to believe that a girl the size of Riho is a threat to Nyla Rose? That's funny. Cody vs. Shawn Spears was a good match, loved seeing Arn Anderson delivering the spinebuster. Lucha Brothers vs. Young Bucks I had terrible expectations going in because of the Bucks habit of using every single move they know on every match they have and having 0 psychology to them, and while this was the case the match turned out ok. Main event was Chris Jericho vs. Adam Page, the match was slow and dull, nobody cares about Page, he's as vanilla as it gets. Jericho wins the match and becomes the 1st ever AEW Champion with a stupid elbow to the face, but at least I agree that he should be champion but stick with the Walls or the Codebreaker. Overall 5/10."

[7.0] "AEW continue to make the least compelling case for being "legitimate wrestling" in the entire world, and it's undeniably troubling how many of the growing pains left over from Double or Nothing continue to plague this PPV. It hit more than it miss over its five hours (! ) but the misses were fairly heinous, including an utterly juvenile and substance-barren hardcore match which took brand integration to new lows and a tag match between the Dark Order and Best Friends which was about as compelling as watching a senior citizen try to make exact change at the supermarket line. That aside the hits were hard and fast, including the ripper good singles bouts of PAC/Omega and Jericho/Page, the latter of which felt like it atoned for a few of Jericho's recent disappointments. The runtime was exhausting and there was fat to be trimmed, but it was largely enjoyable."

[8.0] "Overall a very good show, but not perfect by any means. The opener got the crowd going in a fantastic way and had the right winners despite how awesome Luchasaurus looks. PAC versus Omega was the undisputed MOTN for me, it was simply excellent in pacing, workrate, athleticism, drama and showmanship. Omega is still the real deal and PAC looked awesome. The Hardcore Three Way was a surprise in a positive way. I normally hate the extreme violence, but it was toned down enough in this match to be acceptable and in many ways it was a refreshing, different type of match. The Dark Order have a decent gimmick, but not much else going for them. Best thing about the match was Orange Cassidys beautiful surprise debut. I must admit I fell asleep for the first time during the women's match, so I cannot rate it for now. Cody versus Spears was an oldschool bag-of-tricks match that would have felt right at home in the 80s, and I liked it a lot. Cody is a great babyface and the slow burn of the inevitable MJF turn will give him a great foe. Spears, despite his visibly great fundamentals, was outshined by almost everyone at ringside for the match, including Earl Hebner, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and the dog (that did not want to be there at all). I like the Tully-Spears combination in principle, but I am unsure what exactly to do with them from here on out. The ladder match was insane, simply insane and will hopefully remain an exception -- even if I have given up hope that The Young Bucks are able to not try to kill themselves by trying to top everything. On the one hand, the spots were insanely creative and the crowd reaction appropriately awesome, on the other hand many things looked uncomfortably dangerous. Please tone it down for the long run. The main event was, and I hate to say it, " just" exactly what made sense. Jericho is the right winner for the inaugural champion, but he just cannot do long matches anymore. He looks great in spurts and slow most other times."

[10.0] "I had a great time with this show! Perhaps AEW's best yet. I really enjoyed every match except Bucks/Lucha Bros, and that's more a personal preference thing than a reflection on the match itself. Cody/Spears ended up narrowly being my favorite based on the strong story, but PAC/Omega and the super fun opener were not far behind."
