[9.0] "NXT TakeOver 25 was a landmark event, not only for the incredible in-ring action but for how it showcased the future of the brand and its brightest stars. From start to finish, the entire card delivered on a level that few wrestling shows manage to achieve. The show felt like a turning point, not just for the individuals involved but for the direction of NXT as a whole. The Undisputed Era, in particular, was at the heart of this transformation, solidifying their place in wrestling history with one unforgettable performance after another. The night kicked off with a bang as Matt Riddle and Roderick Strong tore the house down in a brutal, physical opener. Their match set the tone for the evening, blending hard-hitting strikes and psychology with great storytelling. Strongs focus on Riddles body, especially his back, wasnt just a random string of movesit had purpose, and the matchs intensity never let up. It was refreshing to see a bout that told a story, something that feels increasingly rare in modern wrestling, where spots sometimes take precedence over logic. The ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Championships was another highlight, showcasing incredible athleticism and some jaw-dropping spots. Every team had their moment, and the danger felt real. The Undisputed Eras contributions here were just the beginning of what would be a banner night for them. This match felt like a glimpse into NXTs futurechaotic, high-energy, and filled with the kind of innovation that sets the brand apart from anything else in wrestling. The womens match between Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai, while solid, felt like the weakest part of the night, but thats only because the rest of the card was so strong. Both women delivered a physical match with some nice storytelling beats, but it didnt quite reach the emotional highs of other matches on the card. Still, its a testament to NXTs womens division that even the low point of the night was still better than a lot of what you see on other shows. And then there was the main eventAdam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship. This was a classic in every sense of the word. Their chemistry was undeniable, and the crowd was fully invested in every near fall, every submission attempt, and every big move. Adam Cole finally becoming NXT Champion felt like a huge moment, not just for him but for the Undisputed Era as a whole. It felt like a passing of the torch, much like Evolutions coming-out party back at Armageddon 2003, where every member of the group had a standout moment. Coles win solidified their dominance and set the stage for what NXT would become in 2019. Overall, NXT TakeOver 25 was a near-flawless show and a testament to the future of NXT and the Undisputed Era. The card was stacked from top to bottom, with each match offering something different and exciting. Id give this show a solid 9 out of 10. It wasnt just another TakeOver; it was a defining moment for NXT as it continued to evolve into one of the most exciting brands in wrestling. The Undisputed Era stole the show, and this night cemented their place as the focal point of NXT moving forward."

"So so good. Io going crazy with the steel chair was the first step to one of the best NXT storylines and matches and a high point in Shayna's reign. The ladder match is legendary and Kyle O'Reilly became a star to me after all the shit he took in that. The main event was great at the time and for the moment, Cole's reign ended up being solid as well."

The ladder match was so much fun, 20 minutes of great tag team action, and as a ladder match lover I absolutely loved this one. Cole vs Gargano 2 isn't as good as their first match, but it's still an excellent match"

[9.0] "The opener was nonstop action, a great way to get the fans invested in the show. The Fatal Four Way Ladder Match was cool match with brilliant intensity and a lot of well-paced team tactics and some mad dives. Dream vs. Breeze featured quite a few dead moments in the match where seemingly nothing interesting happened, but it was alright. Baszler vs. Shirai was the worst match of the night. The interference was unnecessary and the result was quite questionable, but it was still a decent match. And the main event was amazing. MOTN for sure, and a definite MOTY contender. Gargano and Cole are some of the best today, and this proved it. Overall, it was a really good show, a fantastic TakeOver, but not quite as good as New York."

[Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai] - 4 1/2 stars. [Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole] - 4 3/4 stars (Match of the Night). Average match rating: 4. 15 of 5 stars (or 8. 3 of 10). Rounded to 8 for Cagematch."

Strong vs Riddle was a good opener and was followed by a very good ladder match. The show dipped a little in quality after that though with the two following matches being the low point of the show, although neither were particularly bad."

Although this wasn't a bad show, it was light years behind Double or Nothing in every way. It wasn't even comparable to previous TakeOver shows."

[9.0] "A very good Takeover, but not the best ever. Riddle Vs Strong was my match of the night, 15 minutes of pure mayhem and it was awesome (****1/2) Street Profits Vs Sons Vs Undisputed Era Vs Burch/Lorcan was very good, everyone looked great here (****1/4) Dream Vs Breeze was pretty good, just like expected (***3/4) Baszler Vs Shirai was kinda disappointing to me, expected it to be much better but it was alright (***1/2) Cole Vs Gargano was very good, but it was too much, these Takeover epics are just the same thing every time and it's getting quite tedious, still a great match though (****1/2)"

[8.0] "Loved Riddle/Roddy - it was the correct choice for the opener, and the lads sure have a great chemistry with one another - my MOTN (***3/4), the tag ladder match was really good w/ everybody putting in great performances & making sure the match will end up being memorable (***1/2), Dream/Breeze had some dull stuff, but overall they had a pretty charming chemistry w/ smooth & good sequences all the way through (***), Io/Shayna was something I was very much looking forward to, because their Stardom match is what made me a fan of both of em, and here they had a really good match (***1/2), Cole/Gargano was a BIT better than their 2/3 falls bout from the last TakeOver, but still not good - just their usual stuff w/ million nearfalls with shitty looking strikes & a lot of MOVEZ - definitely not my kind of stuff (*1/4). Even though I did not like the main event much at all, the show overall was more than solid. Will certainly be remembered as one of the better shows of 2019 for sure, in my eyes. Would've been a point or 2 higher w/ a better main event though, but it is what it is."

Hate the main event, just the same bull shit from their NYC match, big moves, finisher spam, forgettable leg work contributing nothing. The NXT main event style is the worst now. The opening match was definitely MOTN. Riddle/Strong was such a great pair. The ladder match was good but not blown away. The women match was good, too but booking was questionable. The NA title match was alright. Nice to see Breeze in the ring but the match wasn't very exciting."

I also like the redemption-story they're going for with Breeze. Overall the entire card was uniformly good and well worth the watch."

[10.0] "I seriously don't know people who gives these matches 0 ratings wants to watch. This was a perfect TakeOver! And people compare this to DoubleOrNothing. Take Dustin vs Cody match from DoubleOrNothing card and it's a very avarage show, TakeOver passed them in almost every way. I hope AEW successes, I really do, but for now they're no rival to NXT if you look at show qualities. AEW didn't prove itself to become a legitimate rival to NXT. Breeze vs Dream was awesome, no more North American Champions who will lost their titles with one TakeOver, Dream is the best NA Champion to this day. Breeze's comeback story and feelings in the match was very good, both had a great chemistry thanks to story behind this match. Breeze did deserved to be in this show [****1/2] Strong vs Riddle was not good as NA championship match, mostly because this match-up felt random. But Strong is one my fav wrestlers, and a singles Strong match for TakeOver? I dig it [****1/4] Ladder match [****1/2 or 3/4] It was very chaotic, I'm not fan of teams in this match except for Undisputed Era. Shirai vs Baszler [***1/2] How forced Baszler is in NXT Women's division, other female wrestlers who didn't get their deserved moments is just annoying. It's been 1. 5 year since Baszler won the NXT Women's championship and since then she's been into title picture. C'mon already! Cole vs Gargano [*****] Cole's leg work and Gargano's arm work was excellent and it played a big part during performing of submission holds. I saw people who said they failed at leg/arm work but they didn't said how it failed. Like lmao, where? They told the story of knee injury/arm injury since the beginning of the match. Kickouts and flow of finisher moves felt more realistic and acceptable in this match compared to their last one. This show just proves that NXT is the best thing in today's pro-wrestling. People just don't want to accept it since it's a WWE product, but NXT is a great combination of pro-wrestling and entertainment."

Great to start, after Gunner showed up it never got back to what it was. Still great at the end. Dream/Breeze: ***3/4. Good showing for Breeze. Io/Shayna: ***1/3. This felt rushed. Post match was interesting. Cole/Gargano: ***1/4. Great. Very long. Didn't care for the ref bump. Could have shaved 10 minutes off of this i think. Very good show. This didn't have the molten hot crowd that some takeovers have. Not among the best Takeovers but still very good."

[10.0] "I felt that this was one of the strongest TakeOvers NXT has done to date. New York had a high bar, which in my opinion, this one matched. Riddle and Strong was a brilliant opener, one of the most finest opening matches in history. This was to me a ***** match. The ladder match was brutal, but also flowed really well. All the participants gelled well together. Street Profits get their TakeOver moment in their first ever show. This was to me a ****1/2 match. The next match was a match that was a solid bout. I loved how Dream was acting so confident until Breeze forced him to lose it towards the end, as his famed spotlight was heading towards Breeze's direction. Breeze had a point to prove, with his main roster run being as successful as it should. I feel like this was the best match in his career, but not for Dream, which is quite telling. This was to me a ****1/4 match. This next match was a bit of a let down, but was still a solid match. The ending will divide fans, but I fought it was okay. Shirai was being to careful once Baszler's friends were taken care of easily. She got too distracted leading to Baszler to capitalize. She doesn't have the strength of Belair to lift Shayna out of the hold, but she lasted the longest, showing her resolve. This was to me a ***3/4 match. Now the main event, for me personally, was an improvement on their classic 2 months prior. Great win for Cole. Gargano's loss follows suit to his entire NXT career. I am hoping for a third encounter down the road, but it should be saved for a later date, as Gargano should be the guy to win their 3rd match. This was a beautiful match. I loved when Col was going for his finish, but Gargano collapsed before he could hit it. Ioved the use of Cole never being to hit Panama Sunrise, until he was able to hit it for the first time outside the ring, giving it even more of an impact. This match to me was and should be ******."

[6.0] "This was shaping up to being one of the most solid NXT shows I had seen in a long time, possibly even ever. I'm not a big NXT fan at all to begin with, but even I found the majority of this show to be quite good. Strong vs Riddle was the Roderick Strong show. It was totally one-sided, with Riddle sleepwalking through everything while Strong worked hard to keep things interesting. ***. The 4-way ladder match was shaping up to be a really good match until the half-way point when the creativity and complexity of the spots was suddenly dropped in favour of spots you've seen a billion times before. I still enjoyed it, at least for the first half. ***1/4. I guess I'm insane, because Dream vs Breeze was my MOTN. This was quite good, and I'm surprised the fans in the arena and online didn't treat it as such. These guys were charisma machines with strong chemistry and some creative exchanges. Breeze's bloodthirsty approach was great, and Dream's selling and display of confidence was very cool too. Maybe it was just both guys' character work, but I enjoyed this more than any other match on the card. ***1/4. Baszler vs Io probably would have been MOTN if it had been allowed to go on longer. Io showed great energy and great confidence right from the bell, and Baszler was great playing the sadistic killer in response. Even the finish, while disappointing because it ultimately ended the match too quickly, was cool because of Io's strong tease of breaking free from the Kirifuda Clutch before eventually submitting and nearly passing out. ***1/4. Gargano vs Cole was trash. I admired the obviously impressive level of pure athleticism, but the match structure itself was just awful, with both guys going totally, unrealistically overkill to the point that I was quickly desensitised to everything. **1/4"

[7.0] "The real rating is 7. 5 but since there's only 7 or 8 I picked 7 :D The opener gets a 7. 5, very good opening match, Takeovers are usually great at kicking the show off and I think both Riddle and Strong will fight for the title later this year, it was a great chance to shine for them, Riddle is amazing but Strong got the chance to show his talent too, I liked his work on Riddle. The ladder match was absolutely brutal, modern day WWE never fails to deliver in ladder matches and this was no exception, as Kyle O'Reilly played the "Finn Bālor role" perfectly but in general the whole match was a non stop series of brutal action, gets an 8, right winners as well cause it's time for the Street Profits to be champions. While invested on both characters, I found Breeze vs Dream nothing too great, gets a 6. 5, both are masters at playing their characters but it was just a +1 for the champion, I hope their feud continues and they can do better in their next match. Baszler vs Shirai was ok, I'll give it a 6. 5 as well, I like Baszler's work but considering the names this match should've been better, it feels like they saved the best for another time tbh, the feud will clearly continue and the next Takeover will surely be where they go full gear. What to say about the main event, slow start and Gargano "falling" to avoid Cole's finisher sounds very NJPW, it was an epic match that put over both characters, Gargano's diehard attitude and Cole's ruthless nature were totally displayed during the half hour they got, it was never too slow and it was perfectly booked, no involvements, Cole won fair and square like the great wrestler that he is, it's ok for Johnny to lose cause he's an underdog and he's better at chasing the belt/rival. Oh, and it gets an 8. 5 Very good Takeover, not the best but the 5 matches format makes it impossible to have a boring show, great opener and main event, brutal ladder match, this show delivered."

[8.0] "This was a great show that frankly didn't get all that much buildup on weekly NXT programming leading up to it. Riddle vs. Strong was a strong opener (****). The Ladder match was fantastic and the right team won (****1/2). Dream vs. Breeze was pretty good, but kind of seemed like a cool-down match after the insanity of the Ladder match. The crowd didn't seem all that into it for a good portion of it, and I'd say it was undoubtedly Dream's worst TakeOver match (***1/2). Baszler vs. Io was decent, but I'm tired of Shayna's reign and thought Io should have won it here (***). Cole vs. Gargano was phenomenal, and I thought it was better than their match at TakeOver: New York (****3/4)."

The show had good pacing, had the matches in the correct spots and didn? t feel like a total drag to watch. The crowd was loud in a good way for the most part too. Nothing I? d consider great on this show which is the only downside for the show overall but make no mistake, watch most of these matches. Best To Worst: Matt Riddle vs Roddy Strong - [***1/2]. Io Shirai vs Shayna Baszler - [***1/2]. Street Profits vs Forgotten Sons vs Undisputed Era vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch - [***1/2]. Velveteen Dream vs Tyler Breeze - [**3/4]. Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole - [1/4*]"
