2 | 30.06.2019 | rykejamal | 10.0 | Another review as I watch the show. The first match pitted Schaff against Hammerstone, who I'm watching for the first time. While this match was starting well, Hammerstone walks out and it ends just like that. Let's see what comes out of it. Big Jack and Leon Negro had a surprisingly fun big man/little man match that played on the size and style differences. Enjoyable match with a little lighting issue. The Cook Brothers looked very good against the more established American Guns. Great match with plenty of action and a great crowd. The 3 way Randy Myers Invitational was good fun. Just a showcase match with plenty of good action from all 3 involved, and the expected shenanigans from Myers. Hammerstone and Schaff brawl ringside and that will definitely lead to something exciting. I'm looking forward to that. The second tag match was fun. Not much else to say. John Hennigan sure loves to change his name a lot. Regardless, this match started out fast. Allin wasn't joking around with that speed. The match itself was really fun and Allin showed that he can hang with anyone. The move used for the win was one I have never seen before, so that was a treat. I've always enjoyed the MJF character since his CZW days. Always good to see him in DEFY. This match felt much different than the one before it, and really felt like a main event at the same time. MJF played the heel role very well, even getting kicked by the referee as a result. Spencer fought like a champion with heart, playing off an induced injury (in-match) caused by MJF. The aftermath was hilarious. DEFY produced an awesome show with Slamtown. Enjoyable from beginning to end. One of the better events of 2019 so far. |
