[10.0] "Both the triple threat match and Balor Vs Riddle are fantastic, both WarGames matches are just spectacular and the NXT return of Kevin Owens is phenomenal. Overall NXT TakeOver: WarGames 3 (2019) is an incredible show and a brilliant way for NXT to show their dominance before taking the house of the WWE main roster over at WWE Survivor Series (2019) the very next day."

I think Owens returning to NXT was the biggest thing but personally, DAKOTA'S HEEL TURN was my favourite part of the show. The two other matches were also very good. MOTN: Men's War Games."

[Damian Priest vs Killian Dain vs Pete Dunne] - 3 1/4 stars. [Finn Balor vs Matt Riddle] - 2 3/4 stars (Worst of the Night). [Men's Wargames match] - 4 stars. Average match rating: 3. 5 of 5 stars (or 7 of 10)."

Riddle vs Balor was decent, but ultimately disappointing, whereas the triple threat was better than I thought it would be, but I can understand the criticism that it went on too long. Overall, this was a very easy show to watch and keeping the event to four matches definitely helped it."

Good matches with Balor getting to shine again, a great Main Event and good surprises with Dakota Kai's heel turn and Kevin Owens being the last member of Team Ciampa. Congrats to NXT, they really deserved their win at Survivor Series."

[8.0] "Very strong show throughout. The men's WarGames was best of the night, though the women's version did feature some interesting storytelling with Kai's turn on Nox taking out two of the babyface competitors. Balor was also very good, and if Dunne-Priest-Dain was the weakest match of the night, it was still quite good. Personally I do still miss the *real* WarGames format (low roof on the cage; submission-only rules when it gets to THE MATCH BEYOND), but that's just me."

[6.0] "Congrats to NXT -- they had no bad matches on this show. They didn't have anything very good either, but all 4 matches were alright at worst. The women's War Games match had quite a few contrived spots and annoying hardcore segments, but a number of the spots and exchanges ended up being quite good, with all 8 women managing to show off at points, though Rhea and Io were definitely the standouts. ***. Priest vs Dain vs Dunne was my MOTN. Dain and Priest both played monsters, though Priest was far more interesting because he nicely mixed in some agile and high-flying attacks. Dunne's aggressive attitude and generally speedy and powerful offence was very good too, The 3-man exchanges were all quite creative and very well executed. I also liked the finish, since it looked like Dunne had 'stolen' the pin, since Dain technically hit Priest right before Dunne pinned Priest, but Dunne had got enough offence in to not feel cheap in getting the win. ***1/4. Balor vs Riddle was another pretty good match. It felt mediocre for the first half but then picked up quite a lot as Balor started showing off his super impressive selling and bumping while also hitting a lot of impactful and extremely well-timed attacks. Riddle was decent, but I can't say he did anything comparable to Balor, who truly worked hard to get this match over. ***1/4. The men's War Games match was decent but simply too long to fully hold my attention. Undisputed Era were very entertaining with their scrappy and rapid team attacks, and Dijak and Lee had many impressive attacks making use of their size and power, but the match didn't go in any interesting directions once all 8 guys were in. It became mostly just a big spotfest, which I enjoyed to an extent, but it didn't do anything to make me think it was special. The constant weapon spots and 'dangerous' spots lost their charm due to repetition too, which was another issue. ***"

[10.0] "This event went by like a breeze, and left me wishing it wasn't over. Amazing show from top to bottom. Probably one of the best I've watched this year. 4 matches only, but more than enough to exceed expectations. The women's War Games match was incredible. Not just from an action point of view, but storyline as well. From the inclusion of Dokata Kai, her unexpected and vicious heel turn, and the odds Team Ripley had to face, this was the ultimate underdog story. Some highlights include Bianca's hair whip and eventual canning from LaRae, Io Shirai's amazing speed boost as she ran across the ring early in the match, and Ripley smashing an incoming Kay Lee Ray with a trash can. Also, this was a great exposure for KLR. I never watched previous War Games matches from NXT before this, so to me this one set the bar, and its a damn high bar as well. Let me get this out of the way. The discuss clothesline from Priest to Dunne hurt me just by hearing it. Intense! This match took a bit to get into full gear but once it did, it was a great, great triple threat match with each man getting to shine. Priest is beginning to grow on me, Dain is looking the best he's been since I last watched it as a member of ICW, and Dunne is Dunne, nothing needs to be said there. Absolutely loved the finish. Watch this one. I honestly didn't find anything to dislike about it. Riddle vs Balor was a good one with plenty of hard hitting action, and some actual wrestling moments. It didn't feel as heated as it should have been though. Should've been more, given the angle that led up to it. The main event... well, Ciampa shoving Cole into a table on the outside had me chuckling. Loved that. The match was worthy of its main event spot with the story that we didn't know the fourth member of Team Ciampa... Kevin Owens! Didn't see that coming. Great moment that changed the dynamic of the match. Panama Sunrise on the steel between the rings? The finish? Brilliants moments to close out a brilliant show."

[7.0] "Womens WarGames: ***1/2. Good match that went by pretty quickly. Loved the angle, hated the result of the match. Also hate that these matches have to be full of weapons. Rhea is getting THE push. 3 way: **3/4. This wore out its welcome. This didn't need to go nearly as long as it did. Would have been much better if it would have been 5 minutes shorter. Just way too long. Riddle/Balor: ***3/4. Very good. Baylor looked great. Riddle is needling Goldberg, which is hilarious. Fun match. WarGames: ****. Great match. Brutal finish. Kevin Owens was a great addition here. Not overly weapons centric, I'd say they found a good balance. Great show."

[10.0] "Being in the crowd for this event was something special. The women's wargames match was top notch, with a little bit of everything sprinkled in, a good heel turn, Bianca's hair whip, KLR almost dying TWICE, Io Shirai attempting a double homicide, and Rhea Ripley being a beast, I feel like it's a given that she will dethrone Shayna either in Portland or sooner. The triple threat was lovely, great spots, high tension, and getting to see a bitter end in person was the cherry on top. I might be a little biased on Riddle vs Balor because I was there live, but I thought it was awesome. Finally, the men's wargames, absolute insanity. All of the table spots looked brutal, the crowd was hot for Keith Lee, and the pop when Kevin Owens showed up has got to be one of the loudest of the past 5 years, it was deafening. Overall, top notch show."

[10.0] "WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SAY ? Amazing, excellent, brilliant, awesome ! Every match delivered. Women WarGames was a great storytelling act, the 4v2 was a bit weird but they mad Rhipley into a monster with that (4 1/2 star) ! The 2 mid-show matches delivered, less sxcited maybe than WarGames but still really good. 3-way (3 3/4 star); Balo-Riddle (4 star 1/4). The 1916 DDT is a fucking great finisher ! The Men's WarGames was flipping exciting, great match, even though Dijakoivc didn't connect with me like the others. I LOVE the Owens surprise, this was a one-night shtick (see Ciampa's eliminating him at SS). Ending was scary as hell, but a great match overall (4 star 1/2). Is it fair to say that both people who made the pinfall on WarGames will eventually become champions in 5 months MAX ? !"

[9.0] "Great PPV. The women's wargames was good, but the Dakota Kai heel turn didn't make a lot of sense. The three way for the #1 contender was a nice breather after the match. I really thought Riddle might win so it was good booking to keep me engaged. I still feel like besides an easy pop Balor is a little out of place in returning to NXT. The men's wargames was fantastic. Really glad Keith Lee got some time to shine. Hopefully he gets a title soon. This PPV worked because it was Wargames however in the future I think it will be awkward if every match besides the women's title is a Undisputed Era member defending."

[9.0] "Quite difficult to sum up, but the two war games matches did exactly what they were supposed to do - provide a lot of spots within a simple story. The women's was better because the story really worked and the in ring action hardly paused. The men's had more dangerous spots, but Lee and Dijakovic spent a lot of time lying around doing nothing. The two "filler" matches were slightly disappointing, but everything was well paced and the show flew by. Very fun, but this was my first War Games and I'm not sure how much variety the format can provide and a lot of the best wrestlers' talents are hidden."

[8.0] "Despite the less-than-stellar build for this show due to it being overshadowed by NXT's involvement in Survivor Series, the NXT roster still delivered as expected and put on a fantastic show. The women's War Games match was great, Kai's sudden heel turn was executed well, Ripley put on a star-making performance, and the right team won (****1/2). Dunne winning the Triple Threat was pretty predictable because he's the only one that's been built up enough to be put on a major PPV card in a main title match, and I thought the match went longer than it needed to go. It was good, but never really picked up and went to that next level (***1/2). The latter also goes for Balor/Riddle in my book, although Balor winning surprised me (***1/2). The men's War Games match was also great, and Kevin Owens being revealed as the fourth member of Team Ciampa got one of the biggest pops of the year. The right team won again here leading into Survivor Series (****3/4)."

[9.0] "This was top to bottom a great show. With only 4 matches it didn't drag on for 50, 000 years. The Chicago crowd was also it's usual loud self /// Women's War Games: Everyone was on their A-game here and delivered big time. So many brilliantly told stories specifically Dakota's heel turn that has an actual motive (her team treated her as a last-ditch effort). I also loved Rhea and Candice being put into a 4 on 2 situation. The only thing that slightly hurt the match was the crowd cheering loudly in favor of Shirai who is supposed to be a big heel. All in all, this was a fun opener with some brutal-looking spots (Kay Lee sliding down the cage like a cheese grater made me cringe). The ending was also brilliant. (****1/4) /// Triple Threat: I had absolutely 0 high expectations for this match, it did not interest me in the slightest. It ended up being pretty good though specifically the last half. The first half seemed to drag a bit but other than that it was pretty fun. I don't think anyone questioned Dunne winning for a single second which hurt the overall feel. Smart finish too. (***3/4) /// Balor vs Riddle: A very refreshing match. Great to see Finn back in NXT and it helped create an "Old NXT vs New NXT" feel. I loved the exchanges in the beginning and some of the stiffer parts. Good showing for both men. (****) /// Men's War Games: In my opinion, this was much better then last year's War Games match with UE. One big reason why is that, unlike last year, it didn't feel like 38 minutes or longer. Keith Lee is a beast who I hope will get a singles push soon. Owens got a huge pop and was a good surprise entrant. O'Reilly was also his usual awesome self. (****1/2)"

[8.0] "Women's War Games Match: ****3/4 Match was really good. There was some great character work and some of the spots were absolutely nuts. Reverse hurricanrana from ropes, Io's cage moonsault, Rhe Rhipley handcuff spot are some of the spots that I can think of right now. In ring work was great and heel turn was awesome, definetly needs more recognition. Damian Priest vs Killian Dain vs Pete Dunne: ****1/2 Great action, great in ring flow, great sequences of moves... I didn't bothered by the kickouts or match length. They were acceptable for today's big match standarts. Finn Balor vs Matt Riddle: ****1/4 They didn't have a good chemistry like I thought they would. It seemed like Riddle kept himself back to prevent match to become one sided. There was some hard hits and good spots here and there but their flow was kind of awkward. It's a good match neverthless. Men's War Games Match: ****3/4 This match was slow and boring compared to last 2 men's war games matches and this is the only thing prevents it from becoming a 5* match! There was a lot of dull moments, match was too f'in long, and wrestlers didn't clicked with eachother very well. These things aside, brutality throughout the mach was insane and final spot was crazy. I legit thought Adam Cole was gonna die there, It was super dangerous."

[8.0] "Overall considering the Takeover standards it might be disappointing. But considering how much the involvement of the main-show put Wargames in the shadows, it's impressive how the show turned out to be. The crowd tuned down the experience, the Chicago crowd has lost its atmosphere. The opener and main-event were decent. Some good spots, but a lot of dragging team-brawling without any proper strategy. I feared the heel turn, but Dakota was doing it better than expected. Just like Owens' comeback moment was epic. Rhea and Shayna were incredible, especially their finish. What's getting annoying is when the victims wait in positions. The triple threat was amazing, equal involvement of all competitors. Balor and Riddle absolutely killed it, my favorite match of this event. Near-perfect pacing. I liked his NXT matches before, but it's great to see more of a Prince Devitt match this time."

[6.0] "Sorry but this is one of the weakest Takeovers I can remember to start with the Woman's war game was basically 4 vs 2 with the four being NXT and NXT UK Champs who had to people to help them yet they couldn't beat two people? I get wanting to build Rhea up but Candice is considered by many as NXT's woman jobber. 3 1/2 stars. The triple threat was a solid match but Dunne will be facing Cole with no build just Dunne winning a random #1 contender match only announced like 4 day before. Screams Cole beating Dunne as its just thrown together so that failed at making the match seem important. 3 stars. Finn vs Riddle was a good match, had some great sequences and a pretty good psychology. 3 1/2 stars. To me this match should have been the #1 contenders match. Mans War game match was great, KO was a good surprise MOTN for me. I liked the fact besides the tables they didn't use a lot of weapons it was more striking and power moves which worked. 4. 5 stars. Overall it lacked what previous Takeovers had and war games for sure last year we got a great war games and two other great matches with Black vs Gargano and Ciampa vs Dream. It just like depth even in only 4 matches as only 6 woman in war games when should have been 8 and KO having to fill a spot instead of a NXT person."
er92 wrote on 24.11.2019:
[6.0] "Could have been much worse but two war games matches leads to obvious structural issues. Having already seen one not very long ago, the main event war games match suffered in excitement value, and that triple threat felt like an eternity. Some matches were good but nothing of the quality to justify a quite exhausting show."
RoscoeSantangelo wrote on 24.11.2019:
[8.0] "A great enjoyable show, but the weakest Takeover in quite some time. Women's War Games was a great opener. ****. Triple threat was good. Some really great moments but felt off a bit. Did not need to go as long as it did ***3/4. Balor/Riddle was a great match, but it almost felt like a TV match. The pacing and style they worked felt like a Raw great match as opposed to a PPV one. It was still a great match, though ****. Men's War Games was another great match but the weakest War Games NXT has done. Ending spot was crazy though, Cole is a madman. Was still MOTN ****1/4."
seriousbusiness wrote on 24.11.2019:
[7.0] "A fine show. Having two WarGames matches on the same show seriously killed the luster of the appeal of the match type. That said, both matches did enough to have both feel like two different matches. The women's match was about the drama, and had more elements of a fight while the men's match was just about big spots. Riddle vs Balor will be underrated by NXT fans just because of how it didn't feel like an NXT match, and that's a good thing imo."
DecentWrestling wrote on 24.11.2019:
[9.0] "Again, this show delivered in spades. Opening WarGames match was amazing with a great heel turn from Dakota Kai. The triple threat was tonnes of fun with the right man winning. Balor/Riddle was a tad dissapointing but great nontheless and the main event was near perfection."
PuroresuLover wrote on 24.11.2019:
[8.0] "Women's War Games - That was pretty good, actually. Dakota Kai's sudden turn caught me off guard, I wasn't prepared for that. The match had its moments and it was really good, also, the closing stretch was great and all of them were good. [****] Damian Priest vs Killain Dain vs Pete Dunne - Nice match with cool moments and a good ending. Pete Dunne did a great job, Killian Dain disappointed me a little bit, he was good too, Damian Priest... can just die in the low card. The match had cool multi-men spots, but that's it, it was nothing special or memorable. [***1/2] Matt Riddle vs Finn Balor - Great match with amazing sequences and a pretty good psychology. Matt Riddle's focus on Balor's leg was the cherry on the cake of the match, it really brought something more to it. [****1/4] Man's War Games - Absolutely magnific! It was a tremendous match with amazing spots and a great surprise. This match lived up to the name, it was just ridiculously majestic, it had a lot of table spots, which is great. I think this is the second best War Games match since 2017, it's near perfect. [****3/4] This was a great show that had three good matches and a disappointing one, also, we had a pretty good surprise in the Main Event."
