Dingo/Taylor: ** ½ (Just a totally average match to kickstart the never-ending title reign of Dingo that helped kill IWA-MS for 5 years along with the Mike Levy incident which happens at QOTD the next day) 3. Devon/Ian/Shaddix: ** ¼ (Ian comes out in overalls chewing tobacco and it’s a great new look for him. Overall just a big beatdown on Shaddix, but a semi fun one. Sadly Rollin’ Hard makes one of his last IWA appearances afterwards before his death 6 months later, seemingly making an honest attempt to wrestle in the tournament, which even Ian didn’t let happen) 4. Childs/Otis/Lucid: ** ½ (Pretty solid match after initial awkwardness. Plugged-in lighttubes are broken at one point and the result is this weird red cinder-y pile of glass. Lucid looks like Amazing Red and it’s very fun watching him be tossed about. CJ Otis was pretty good. We get to see wrestlers having their wounds super-glued shut afterwards, which is pretty gross) 5. Gage/Havoc/WHACKS: ** ¼ (This match was okay. Fat Gage looks like he’s about to rob a Pizza Hut instead of a bank. WHACKS just sucks. There are some really rough bumps onto a ladder during the bout) 6. Tag Match: *** ¼ (Just a super fun old school style tag team match. Toby was so much fun to watch and AOTF was just the perfect indy team at the time) 7. Freak Show/Pondo/Viper: *** (No wasted time here as all 3 guys make every second of the match count. Fun, chaotic, and everyone looked good, even though it was obvious who would be losing) 8. Lane/Tank/Deranged: ** ½ (No memory of Tank ever having hair. This match was just a shit load of glass being broken. Pretty average in terms of entertainment. Billy Gram being used as a weapon was great though. Tank then curbstomps the ref afterwards) 9. Naptown Dragons: *** ¼ (MOTN, just a nice cohesive crazy match, not much to re-watch though. One of Lee’s last matches) |

Opener hat mir noch mit am besten gefallen, aber ich war damals auch ein großer Fan von Mickie und natürlich auch von del Rey (**1/4). Dingo als Champion - damit konnte ich mich nie anfreunden. War Taylor mir halt zu dünn, war Dingo dünn und viel zu klein. Spannung kam in dem Kampf auch mal so gar nicht auf (*3/4). Mit solchen Graupen wie Shaddix, Lucid, WHACKS und Viper die wirklich nur bluten können aber nicht mehr hatte das ganze einen recht drögen Beigeschmack. |

| 13 | 27.07.2008 | Moonblood | 6.0 | Daß dieser Abend von einigen Personen auf dem Mid-South-Forum als bester erster Tag überhaupt bezeichnet wurde, kann ich nicht nachvollziehen, aber sooo übel war er auch nicht. Gerade im Vergleich zum guten Turnier aus dem Vorjahr beging man hier den Fehler, wieder zu viel Kanonenfutter dabei zu haben. Der Ausgang der meisten Turnierkämpfe war äußerst hervorsehbar, was das Gesamtbild negativ beeinträchtigt hat. Sieht man aber davon ab, gab es wirklich gute Non-Tournament Matches, ein paar schicke Spots und unterhaltsame Auseinandersetzungen. 'Befriedigend' trifft es gut. |
