| 1 | 02.09.2026 | valleyy | | [2.0] I attended this event live, and as a loyal SPW fan since Breakthrough 2014, it remains the worst show I've seen from the promotion. A decent undercard was completely eclipsed by a disastrous main event that left a genuinely sour taste in my mouth. The rest of the card was fine. The semi-main event between Aiden and AWGC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Shaukat was solid work. Aiden obviously wasn't going to go over clean, so the DQ finish made total sense and protected everyone involved. The real issue was the main event. SPW Southeast Asian Champion Ivan "Lokomotiv" Markov was scheduled to defend, but completely no-showed (presumably due to visa issues, though this was never officially stated). Jake de Leon was brought in as a replacement for a now-vacant championship triple threat against Statement (Andruew Tang) and Trexxus (Dante Chen). The problem? The physical belt was missing, likely stuck in Russia with Markov, and the promotion didn't announce Markov's absence until his music hit for the main event. While "card subject to change" is a reality of wrestling, hiding it until the last possible second felt like a bait-and-switch. Worse still, SPW stuck to what was clearly the original booking script despite missing both the champion and the title. The match ended with Statement and Trexxus scoring a simultaneous double-pinfall on Jake de Leon. The original story was obviously meant to be the two local stars putting aside their rivalry to pry the belt back from the russian foreigner, Markov, likely culminating in a post-match tug-of-war over the physical title to set up a future undisputed clash. Running this exact double-pin finish on Jake without the actual belt to fight over made zero narrative sense. It was an awkward, confusing audible that completely baffled the live crowd. If a long-time fan like me was left scratching my head, the casual audience had absolutely no chance. |
