[8.0] "Pretty good PPV from the 2001 Invasion angle that everyone hates so much, but fails to forget produced some damn good stuff. Rock Vs. Jericho was a classic and it was great to see Jericho win the big one. The main event was fun and most of the undercard was good, even the Torrie Wilson/Stacy Keibler match had its moments."

[8.0] "For my money the best PPV of the Invasion angle, No Mercy 2001 is a criminally underrated show with some really great matches. Stealing the show was the Rock and Y2J who had an overlooked gem of a world title match. The match was full of great spots and an inventive finish that furthered Y2J's heel turn while keeping him as a white hot face. The main event didn't match the WCW title match, but Austin, Angle, and RVD had a gripping match that was quick and exciting. In other great matches, Edge and Christian had a heated ladder match for the IC strap where Edge got the win. The rest of the show was pretty solid with a strong hoss fest between Test/Kane and a fun opener for the tag straps. The only lows was a dumb lingerie match between Keibler and Wilson and a pointless match between Taker and Booker T which handed Booker yet another PPV loss. Overall, No Mercy 2001 is a hell of a strong show that showcased the best of the Invasion."

[9.0] "Wilson Vs Keilber was horrible and both Dudleys Vs Big Show and Tajiri and Undertaker Vs Booker were both just mildly fine, but Hardys Vs Storm and Hurricane was solid, Test Vs Kane was good, Edge Vs Christian ladder and the WWE World Title triple threat were both fantastic and Rock Vs Jericho was incredible. Overall WWF No Mercy (2001) is a fantastic show."

[6.0] "This is definitely one of the better shows of the roughly six month Invasion storyline. The Dudleys vs. Tajiri and Show was the only match I consider to be poor in quality, although the Edge/Christian match left much to be desired too. Austin/Angle/RVD is an unsung classic, and Taker/Booker punches above its weight class too in my opinion. While it might not quite be good enough for me to call it a top 'B' PPV in WWE history, it is a decent standout and a good show to throw on if you haven't seen it in a bit. There are a lot of good standouts here."

[9.0] "If there was an option for an 8.5, I would go with that, but I think it's closer to a 9 than an 8 so I bumped it up a little. There wasn't a single match that I downright hated and as a matter of fact, I enjoyed pretty much everything. Rock/Jericho was my top match but the main event delivered and shockingly, Test vs Kane was very good. Edge vs Christian was also a great ladder match, especially for two guys that were exclusively working as a tag team for so long. So far Invasion and Unforgiven were pretty rough but Summerslam and No Mercy were solid, for PPVs of the Invasion angle. But the storylines are getting more and more asinine as time goes on."

[6.0] "This was a pretty enjoyable show overall; I think while the Invasion as a whole was not booked well, the pay-per-views during this time period were always enjoyable. This one, as mentioned, is no exception. Hardy Boyz vs. Storm/Hurricane is a fun opener, other highlights here are Edge/Christian, Test/Kane was surprisingly good, and the two world championship matches were both good. I didn't enjoy Wilson/Keibler or Undertaker/Booker, they do negatively affect the show but overall, I think it's still a good pay-per-view."

[5.0] "We're still doing the invasion angle, so there are more titles on the line than there should have, but at least the match quality was alright. The opener was a fun little Tag Team Match, Test vs Kane was a pleasant surprise with two huge guys throwing each other around and Wilson vs Keibler at least was short. Then Edge vs Christian was an indy garbage Ladder Match with both guys taking absurd amounts of time to set up their next spots, The Dudleys vs Show & Tajiri wasn't bad, but I won't remember this match soon and Taker vs Booker was a typical biker Taker contest that just dragged. Jericho vs Rock was the best match of the show with them nicely speeding the things up near the finish, while the main event was almost heatless to me with only Stone Cold showing some personality and unfortunately it being all around the McMahons drama once more. So overall not an awful PPV, but the invasion storyline is ruining a pretty good year of 2001."

[7.0] "Like a lot of WWF shows from this year, this was decent but not as good as it should have been, due to a combination of things but mostly the showhorning of the dumb Invasion storyline into almost everything."

[9.0] "No Mercy 2001 continues the trend of great WWE PPV's from that year. A pretty good card from top to bottom with Edge vs Christian beginning to establish themselves as singles stars in a bruising ladder match where every spot was impactful and looked painful. It's a card best remembered for Chris Jericho finally getting his first title and his match with The Rock was an all time classic. Those two always clicked well together and Jericho taking WCW's top title after being seriously undervalued in that company felt satisfying. The triple threat main event was also very good with RVD adding a fresh face to the Austin vs Angle rivalry. Surprisingly I enjoyed the Kane vs Test match too, which was a fun big man hoss fight, which probably should have lead Test to better things. I was also pleased Undertaker vs Booker T was presented as an even match after that horrible DDP burial the previous month. Pretty much everything here was watchable, although the lingerie match definitely isn't a technical masterpiece."

[8.0] "Everything on this show was good to me outside of the ladder match it was very formulaic to me and way worse than the tag ladder matches that Edge and Christian had as a tag team, and Undertaker vs Booker T was just fine as well. The match of the night was the triple threat match for the WWF title it had good in-ring work and drama, although Jericho/Rock wasn't too far behind, the most surprising match of the card was Kane/Test which was really good. Overall I really good show with nothing bad on it, even if I thought the ladder match was disappointing."

[4.0] "This show peaked at the start, ran around in circles for most of the middle, and then failed to produce anything meaningful for the big 2 final matches. Hardy Boyz vs Storm & Hurricane was MOTN -- a short but fun opener with flashy and energetic work of the Hardys against the more aggressive work of the heels. ***. Kane vs Test was pretty bland and slow. Both guys were too similar in style, though at times they made for an okay 'hoss' fight. **1/2. Stacey vs Torrie was absolute cringe and an absolute insult to wrestling. It was thankfully short enough that I don't need to consider it a real match. NR. Christian vs Edge was a pretty generic ladder match. Imagine a ladder match doing the bare minimum with spots that 20 years ago were considered 'risky', and that's exactly what this was. **1/2. Dudleyz vs Show and Tajiri was very average but somewhat salvaged by Tajiri's always-impressive striking and high-flying. The Dudleyz' tandem beatdown work was decent. Show's big-man work was slow and uninspiring. Interference and ref bumps were annoying. **3/4. Taker vs Booker continued the streak of uninspired and low-effort wrestling. Nothing bad but certainly nothing interesting. **1/2. Rock vs Jericho had a fun atmosphere but not much wrestling. They just worked the standard 00s big-match formula, with heaps of totally generic wrestling exchanges and eventually some finishers and attempted finishers. Both men were at least relatively energetic with their selling and some attacks, but none of their interactions had especially good chemistry, creativity, or impact. **3/4. Austin vs RVD vs Angle was another underwhelming but at least mildly entertaining match. I liked the idea of all 3 guys having distinctive styles, but they didn't mix their offences together nearly as frequently as they should have. The match always died whenever it devolved into brawling, and it became way too finisher-spammy at the end, though that at least made for some dumb fun. **3/4. Without a single match I can truly consider 'good', and only 1 match that was somewhat alright (and which was the very first match, meaning everything after it suffered by comparison), I can't say this was a very good show. No individual match was outright bad (apart from the brief embarrassment of the women's match), but having mediocre match after mediocre match, especially from a promotion that is meant to be the biggest in the world, wore me down to the point that I wasn't enjoying this much at all."

[8.0] "Most of the matches are really good. The Rock vs Chris Jericho is fantastic, the three way main event is fast and enjoyable, Undertaker vs Booker T is better than expected, and Edge vs Christian is a solid Ladder match with great action and in-ring psychology. This show rocks near the end of the Invasion angle."

[8.0] "3 solid matches made this card good. Edge vs Christian was the match of the night in my opinion, they absolutely put on a great show. Y2J vs The Rock was also very solid and fun to watch. The main event was made better with the ending sequence but the wrestling, mainly from Angle and RVD was phenomenal. Now, the rest of the card didn't have much worth watching to be honest. But overall, this was a good wrestling show."

[7.0] "An acceptable show, nothing I really disliked, highlights for me were the ladder match (****) and Jericho vs Rock (****1/4) everything else was decent for what they were and what they were meant to achieve. The main event should have been better. Your average quality PPV for the time. Great commentary as always by JR and Heyman"

[8.0] "No Mercy 2001 is a well-rounded, highly enjoyable, yet not quite flawless show. The quality of action throughout is typically better-than-average, the only snoozers being the Test/Kane and Lingerie Match, neither of which was PPV worthy. The two title matches are arguably the best title matches the company had aired in months, if not the whole year, only tarnished by the involvement of the McMahons. Booker/Taker and Christian/Edge deliver - the former with an engaging story and strong character work, the latter with death-defying spots and a respectable sense that the combatants wanted to steal the show, but hadn't quite figured out how yet. Compared to the considerably less consistent Unforgiven show the month earlier and the messy InVasion PPV that kicked off the summer, No Mercy 01' was a step in the right direction that hits its peaks whenever the top stars are permitted to just go out and wrestle, ignoring the ludicrous Alliance/WWF storyline."
