[6.0] "The Invasion storyline contiues dragging along here at Unforgiven, but we get a decent show out of it. Outside of one terrible match andsome filler everything is pretty decent. The Hardcore title match is the highlight of the night and the Main Event ends on a nice note, even if it isn't as good as their Summerslam match. Match Ratings: Tag Team Four Way (7/10) Saturn vs. Raven (4/10) Edge vs. Christian (6/10) Kane & Take vs. KroniK (3/10) RVD vs. Y2J (8/10) The Rock vs. Booker T & Shane (5/10) Tajiri vs. Rhyno (5/10) Austin vs. Angle (8/10)"

[6.0] "Another fine show from the Fed during the middle of their "let's humiliate WCW" phase. Unforgiven 2001 is a fine show with some solid matches, a good crowd pleasing ending, and a bit of wrestlecrap. Angle/Austin doesn't quite live up to their Summerslam match, but they still delivered a fine main event. It was all about the moment though of Angle winning in his hometown, and it's a great moment. Other highlights include an entertaining 2 on 1 handicap match for the World Heavyweight champion and RVD/Y2J stealing the show in a hardcore match in another career-making performance from RVD, the lone spotlight of the Alliance. The rest of the show is fine with only the tag team championship match being painfully terrible. Overall, it's a solid B-Show that proves the point that the Invasion wasn't all bad."

[5.0] "I have to be honest. There was really nothing on this show that impressed me very much. Angle and Austin give a feel good main event that was inferior to their fight the month prior, RVD and Jericho have a decent but typical hardcore match, and the WCW title match was above average. Even so, none of those three are particularly memorable in my opinion. A lot on this card was slightly below expectations, such as the Edge vs. Christian match and the aforementioned Angle/Austin match. I wouldn't call this a bad show, but for me, it let me down a good bit. Decent card, but that is it."

[6.0] "Really I was excited to watch this PPV seeing all of the high "WON" scores for some of these matches, but to me there were only two very good/great matches. First being the RVD/Y2J match. This is the first match Y2J's had in WWF where I really felt deserved a 4 star rating. He still has not learned how to slow down his matches so they seem more realistic. If he ever does, perhaps a 5 star match is in his future. This seemed to be spot after spot, but at least RVD knows how to pretend that this is a real fight, all the while working the crowd. Jericho is just move after move after move. They did have some really great chemistry together though, and I love that the Hardcore matches are now a lot more serious than they used to be before the invasion. Having ECW dominate the matches was a great move by the booking team. Then there was Angle and Austin. On one hand, really liked that they did two matches in a row for the last two PPVs which were regular rules and no run-ins. I respect that shit and they made the match entertaining. But, I do think the ending was a little weak and unexpected. I also never really felt like Austin was in control of this match. Maybe that was planned, but the best matches are the ones where both sides seem like they have a legit shot at winning at various points. This didn't have that for me. Rhyno/Tajiri was way too short. Not sure why the fuck this wouldn't go 5 mins. Hopefully this is only the beginning of a rivalry with these two. The Rock/Booker T match was just ok. Having fucking TEST do a run in here makes me scared of what's to come. Does the rock now feud with TEST? Is this where we're going the next few months? If so, I might just have to quit WWF for a while. The WCW tag title match was a disaster and the WWF tag title match was fine but forgettable. It's been 2 hours and I already forgot it. Considering the talent level of some of these guys, I felt disappointed. Christian vs Edge was a pretty good match and I'm hoping they continue this feud as well. Overall, one thing I noticed is how many guys got busted open and to me none of it looked like blade jobs. I count at least 4 guys who bled unintentionally, and Edge looks like he might need some stiches. He got a real nasty cut below his eye, along with a nice shiner. These guys were really kicking each other's asses. Fun stuff and a decent ppv for story advancement, and two really good matches, but I wouldn't say anything here is must-see. Angle celebrating the title with his family and a bunch of superstars at the end seemed like an attempt to be symbolic for the nation, but with no alliance members there, it fell flat to me."

[7.0] "Unforgiven 2001 is sucked into the Invasion tornado and finds it difficult to escape. Unprepared talent and hindering Stipulations are the factors that drag some very good matches down. A good ending at the WCW Championship match and an excellent Main Event are not enough to elevate a PPV with the rare stinker in it to the usual 2001 standards. Stephanie McMahon does a good job in backstage segments, while Jim Ross and Paul Heyman play off each other very nicely on commentary. MOTN goes to Steve Austin v.. Kurt Angle."

[5.0] "Very much a two match show for me, with those being the main event and RVD/Jericho. A couple other okay matches but a pretty forgettable show with a dreadful Undertaker/Kane vs KroniK match. Rhyno/Tajiri being so short was also very disappointing because I love both of them and was hyped for that. As a whole, a very weak show and the Invasion angle regresses with every passing week."

[4.0] "I'm starting to hate the invasion angle. There is literally onle one match that is not for the title and it's just stupid since most of these have no value at all and holders change on a daily basis. The best match here was Angle vs Austin and it still was a disappointment compared to their SummerSlam match, even though they had a better buildup this time and Kurt was in his hometown. Everything else was just meh at best. The opener wasn't bad, Saturn vs Raven had absolutely no heat and Christian vs Edge should have been much better. WCW Tag Title Match was a dream match made in heaven with biker Taker vs Crush, RVD vs Jericho made me wish for Van Dam to finally drop the Hardcore Title and have a normal match, while Rock vs Booker irritated me with Shane being thrown there for whatever reason. At this moment there are too many titles, too many wrestlers and not much value in any match."

[6.0] "There were a couple of good matches here, but overall it really underdelivered, not least due to the ongoing and failing Invasion storyline. Only the Van Dam/Jericho match and the main event were as good as they should have been given the participants, several others were underwhelming. Watchable but nothing more."

Everything else on this show ranged from fine to solid, with Jericho/RVD being really good, and Austin/Angle ended up being another awesome match from the two. Overall a good show to watch even with the two really bad matches,"

Still, Rock and Booker should have been doing their own thing instead of Booker playing pseudo side kick to Shane McMahon."

[8.0] "The opener was quite enjoyable, though it doesn't set the tone for the evening (more on that by match 2). I was enjoying the rise of The Hurricane at the time and reliving it is almost as fun. D-Von shows in this match why his timing and body language is as good as it gets. Everyone had time to shine here with Spike Dudley stealing the show (as usual) - great spot with The Big Show's assist. The order of elimination was smart and the right team won this evening. Next up: Saturn and Raven went nowhere and things seemed to be a bit off between them, but there was hard way blood letting... a sign of things to come for most of the rest of the evening! Edge and Christian had a difficult start because the crowd didn't want to boo nor cheer and were just kind of bummed the team was split. How do you fix this? By going outside, duh! After that things picked up and more hardway juice followed with both being bloody messes at the end. Great match, even if the two were in foreign lands so to speak; recommended. The Brothers of Destruction and KroniK eventually get through a disaster of a match. Things start ok enough but Bryan Clarke seemed to be a bit unprofessional early and things rapidly fall apart. There is a sequence where Adams and 'Taker whiff (miss) on each other and it's obvious - they kinda stop and restart but it's all so terrible and no one could salvage it. But it ended with a clean finish, so there's that. I think it's obvious some hardway happens in this next match before I even tell you it does yeah? They totally botch and butcher a spot of sequence wrestling/pin attempts early and I was scared for them that this just wouldn't come together BUT! After standing there for a bit and letting the crowd chant "Y2J" and "RVD" at the same time (sounding like they are rooting for an Indian fellow named "Rahj Doohjay"), they hit hard reset and have a wicked fun match you should watch. No hard way for our upcoming sports entertainment gaga affair. If you like The Rock, Shane McMahon or Booker T - they all go through the motions here and end with a zany (and fun) finish that leaves a pleasant after taste. I'm a fan of both Tajiri and Rhyno (both know how to bring out the best in others) and they deliver here, I just wish they had more time - but I really liked it! As for the main event, yup! Hardway blood to be found here as well; though I'm sure once the two saw the night unfold, such a thing was then planned; the other incidents this evening seemed accidental. Stone Cold & Kurt Angle always had excellent chemistry and they let it all out here, a step under their Summerslam match but still really great! The finish and the way the show ended was wonderful at the time and holds up well today! Overall this is a very strong PPV and I can only recommended it. It even gives you examples of what happens when everyone isn't on the same page and the results that follow. Check it!"

[8.0] "Another good PPV from WWE in 2001, where the main events delivered in a big way, however the undercard is somewhat hit and miss. It is of course remembered for the temporary title reign for Kurt Angle in an excellent re-match with Austin from Summerslam. It might not he hit the same hights from that show, but is a really enjoyable match with a really satisfying feel good ending just weeks after the tragedy of 9/11. Also worth checking out is the hardcore title match between RVD and Chris Jericho in yet another outstanding PPV match for both men. The hardcore matches was so much better to watch during the invasion angle largely because they felt more hard hitting and the weapon spots was a lot more meaningful. The Rock vs Booker T and Shane is also decent with a typical against the odds win for The Rock. The rest of the show was a bit of a mixed bag with Edge and Christian having the best of the lower card, but they would have two much better PPV matches down the line. The biggest problem was Undertaker and Kane vs KroniK completely stank up the joint in one of the worst matches of the year."

[8.0] "This was a really good event. They opened up with a really nice America the Beautiful that felt especially powerful since it was just two weeks after 9/11. The event had two excellent matches in RVD vs Y2J. It was a great competitive match. Both looked awesome. and the main event that was a really nice Brawl where Angle looked really dominant in front of his hometown. The ending of the match is legendary and the pop was unbelievable. JR's announcing was fantastic and I loved seeing Angle's family and the WWF superstars coming out to congratulate him for winning the title and bringing it back to the WWF. Two really good matches that should've been recommended were the opening match and The Rock vs Shane McMahon and Booker T. The opening elimination tag match was a lot of fun. A lot of action going on in the match. A noticeable part I really liked was how good the cheers for Big Show were. He was really good in the match. The Hardys were really good too. The WCW title match was really good. The Shane and Booker were awesome as heels keeping down the Rock. You rarely see a bad Shane match. Booker was really good. Rock was really good too and the crowd loved him. Two matches that were decent to alright were Edge vs Christian and Rhyno vs Tajiri. The two bad matches were Raven vs Perry Saturn and BOD vs Kronik. The worst match BOD vs Kronik. They just seemed tired and sloppy. Undertaker got good crowd reactions but the others didn't. Kronik weren't very good."

Edge vs Christian is okay, the first match is a funny elimination tag team match, but BOD vs KroniK is terrible. I have to say it's a good pay per view."

[7.0] "An enjoyable show, nothing too special besides Jericho vs RVD. Main event delivered, decent opener and mid card matchs. Rock vs Booker and Shane was good too, charisma of the Rock and Booker really helped, they have great chemistry. Brothers of Destruction vs Kronik was bad - kronik couldn't keep up and were nowhere near PPV level, but it was only 10 minutes so I wasn't too offended by it. Quite an average show in total with great commentary as per usual."

[5.0] "Unforgiven 2001 has its high points, but overall, it never really hits anything higher than the average mark. The lows are hard to forget: the Brothers of Destruction/Kronik and Saturn/Raven matches are among the worst, most stale bouts that I've seen on my journey through WWE's PPV 2001 PPV line-up. The Rock's title defense is largely uninspired, its saving grace being the frenzy of its final moments. Austin/Angle is a great match that ends too abruptly to make it a classic. It is an epic "in the making" that is pulled out of the oven before it is fully baked. The match of the night is, without question, the Hardcore Championship match, but its hard to justify sitting through this entire show for less than an hour of high quality action."
