Solides Follow Up für Wrestle Kingdom. Sehenswert ist einzig das Six Man Tag in der Mitte der Card. Ansonsten brachte man hier einiges für die New Beginning Tour auf den Weg, allen voran natürlich Tanahashi und White oder auch mehrere Matches zwischen LIJ und Suzuki-Gun. Der Rest ist nicht wirklich gut und daher auch nicht, worüber man noch groß Worte verlieren muss."

[5.0] "This was something of a step down from the previous day's Wrestle Kingdom. The matches were all fine, though nothing especially stood out, but it's clear the company hasn't yet figured out how to effectively plug the Elite-shaped hole left in its roster. The developments to move towards New Beginning weren't especially interesting, save the LIJ-Suzuki-gun confrontation and perhaps the tease at an Ishii-Nagata attraction match, the Owens/Takahashi return to Bullet Club wasn't a surprise, and I don't think Jay White is at all ready for the main event spot and likely title reign he's being rushed into. Hopefully the ship is righted sooner than later."

[6.0] "A very OK show. Less of the cool surprises that have characterised New Year Dash over the last couple of years, but I enjoyed it well enough regardless. I always like the atmosphere of these shows as everyone basks in the post WrestleKingdom glow, and all the tag matches are usually breezy fun. The CHAOS vs. Cobb/KUSHIDA/Nagata one was really ace, with those great little scrappy sequences between Ishii and Nagata and a very fun near fall stretch. None of the other bouts were anything remarkable, but all were totally fine. Totally fine few hours of the wrestling. CHAOS vs. Jeff Cobb, KUSHIDA & Yuji Nagata- ****"

[6.0] "Ganz vergessen die Show zu bewerten. Insgesamt wieder eine coole Show, die einige Fehden für die nächsten Shows eingeleitet hat. Aber auch wrestlerisch war das stellenweise ganz nett, vor allem die letzten beiden Matches. Es gibt zwar kein großen Shockmomente aber die braucht es gar nicht unbedingt, mit Taichi, Jay White, Suzuki & ZSJ, sowie Yoshi-Hashi und Owens + Yujiro hatte man doch mehrere Momente, die Bedeutung hatten."

[6.0] "Personally I expected much much more from this show, especially after the great Wrestle Kingdom. NJPW in my opinion flaw in creating hype from major show to major show because nothing really really happen if its not a great event. I expected Tanahashi celebration about victory over Kenny Omega, I expected Kenny to say something and adress crowd about his probably departure from NJPW and much much more. Nothing happened and it was a mediocre new year dash compared to the last ones. To remember only JAy White promo (he does not convince me at all as possible Main Eventer, but the promo itself has been great) and Cahse owens and Tokyo pimp rejoining the GOD (without Young Bucks marty scrull Cody Kenny etc they aren't able to make themself a mark alone without some major name in this case Tama Tonga Tanga loa etc). Good action, good macthes as always in japan but not so great event considering the importance of it after the tokyo dome. It was obvious how much they were tired after the night before , especially The Ace... I am curious to see if he will be ble to carry NJPW on his back once again even at this age and state of his carrear."

[4.0] "Following a great Tokyo Dome show comes a indication on the road forward, and honestly the first step is a major letdown. The wrestling was okay, but the angles and guys in focus are hardly my first choice category. I'm still not feeling Jay White as a top-tier guy, so having him challenge for the IWGP Title feels very forced trying to fill the void of Omega. Wasting Okada with Fale is another big question mark in the current booking. YOSHI-HASHI 's comeback was very underwhelming. Not too high on Taichi feuding with Naito either, but Naito is the only one getting good matches out of Taichi and the angle between the two was the only good one on the show, so I won't complain about that. Chuckie's mental problems and Beretta's mom were memorable moments. The best bout was the Ospreay 6-man where Nagata and Ishii got heat. The rest was very average. Going to be interesting to see what NJPW will do from now to freshen up their product without the AEW guys. [5.0] "Opener: *1/2. All IIzuka does is bite people. Amazing. This was fine, but a nothing happening match. Second match: **. FIne. Chase looked good. Third match: *1/4. If the plan is Chucky vs Juice, this was a weird way to go about setting that up. Good until the finish. Fourth match: ***3/4 Very very good. Seek this out. All 6 guys were great. Maybe we'll get Ishii & Nagata in a singles? That'd be fun! NEVER Trios title match: *3/4. Not terrible. This was all done for the post match angle, which was fine. Semi main: ***1/3. Pretty good match. Very wild. I don't like the direction they're going with Naito and the IC title. The Tag title program looks like it will be really fun. Main event: ***1/4. Match was good. Postmach was good. Show was very there. Not good, not terrible."

[5.0] "Matches were okay but as everyone else has pointed out, New Year Dash is kind of meant to show the direction of feuds in 2019 and usually features one or two major surprises. This show unfortunately lacked that which is really disappointing."

[4.0] "Absolutely disappointing follow up to an incredible Dome show. The wounds of getting rid of the Elite are already showing as nothing coming in the New Beginning cards looks super appealing. The IWGP, US, and junior tag title matches are rematches that already happened not even half a year ago, god damned TAICHI is getting an IC title shot, and they couldn't even set up a NEVER nor a IWGP junior heavy match. I mean a Nagata vs Ishii match will probably be good, but it's just completely unnecessary and will probably lead to nothing."

[6.0] "It wasn't as bad as some say though it was far from good. I hope White won't win the title for the foreseeable future, he needs a lot of work but I don't rule out the fact if one day he gets there. This day is just far away but you need to start to build somewhere and if he puts on good matches after good matches and learns how to be more and more charismatic, he may get there. I hope he will. Time will tell. A big boost could have been White joining the Bullet Club as its leader because now they don't have anyone as a leader, they are just there without a direction. Two undercard wrestlers rejoining BC is NOT a direction. Seeing YOSHI HASHI losing on his return was not my favourite decision either. I don't understand the Taichi push, last year he showed me NOTHING in his feud with Goto who also seems lost nowadays just like my favourite beast, Ishii. The Suzuki-gun vs. LIJ feud seems good, loved the beatdown. Hopefully Hiromu returns soon, we need his charisma, absolutely love the guy (and Daryll too). There was nothing special about this show but it wasn't bad, matches were ok. Hence 6 out of 10. All in all, NJPW underwhelmed this year. Hopefully, later it will get better in the months to come. If they want to draw in the Tokyo Dome on two consecutive days in 2020, they need to do something big, the current stuff isn't convincing these days, unfortuately."

[3.0] "I don't know why people are upset about this show, we got the greatest in-ring return we'll get all year: YOSHI-HASHI! It's funny, I saw a thread titled "Only YOSHI-HASHI could make a return, tag team with Tanahashi and Okada, debut a new finisher and still lose". Seriously though, this event is usually made for big surprises (not so much for quality of wrestling, as we're supposed to get that the day before), but they dropped the ball hard. NYD tickets are notoriously hard to get, and I'd have been extremely disappointed if I had struggled to get one and received this lackluster show. NJPW is responsible for getting me back into wrestling, but if The Elite are gone, can't work out a deal with them and AEW, and they don't scramble to make new stars, I'm only going to tune in for the big matches. Jay White will probably be IWGP Heavyweight champion sooner than later, and I couldn't be any less interested, because he is absolutely not on the level of the big four (Tana, Okada, Naito, Omega). I hope I'm wrong, but if this show is any indication, the brakes are going to get hit hard on NJPW's rise in popularity and success."

[5.0] "CHOAS vs. Cobb/KUSHIDA/Nagata war extrem gut und wohl der einzige Grund die Show sich nachträglich anzusehen. Die in den letzten Jahr zu Tradition gewundenen Überraschungen fehlen dieses Jahr komplett. Push für Taichi nervt jetzt schon, auch wenn der Brawl gut inszeniert war. Owens & Yujiro zurück im original BC wirkt zwar unwichtig, aber wenn ich mir Gedo und 1 Bump Fale im Main Event ansehe, ist Chase Owens tatsächlich eine Verstärkung für BULLET CLUB Version 4. 0"

[4.0] "Obwohl es insgesamt ziemlich enttäuschend war, war es dennoch eine solide Show. Die Matches waren alle in Ordnung. Im Fall vom CHAOS vs Cobb, Nagata, KUSHIDA 6 Man und dem Co Main Event waren es sogar ziemlich starke Matches. Die Segmente enttäuschten dennoch. White vs Tana klingt sehr gut. Taichi vs Naito kling nach Müll. Chuckie T vs Juice? Really? Und dass jetzt Yujiro und Chase im Firing Squad/Neuen BC sind interessiert einen ja null. Auf kurze Zeit gesehen sieht das alles ziemlich schwach aus. Auch ein Jericho war nicht da. OMEGA war nicht da. Ich will nicht zu pessimistisch klingen, aber ich sehe für die nahe Zukunft Schwarz."

[4.0] "Das war gar nicht mal so interessant. Die Entwicklungen haben sich entweder angekündigt bzw. waren offensichtlich oder sind schlichtweg auch egal. Viel wichtiger ist hier eigentlich, wer nicht da war und das ist zum Teil etwas irritierend, aber wird unter Umständen ja noch aufgelöst. Die Action ist zum Teil wirklich lahm und wird zu häufig von einigen Sequenzen getragen. In Summe reicht das nicht. Wenn das der Auftakt für eine neue Zeitrechnung sein soll, dann ist das schon beachtlich lahm und berechenbar."

[7.0] "In-ring wise this was probably the best NYD ever with Chaos vs. Team Justice and the main event both being legitimately awesome matches. There wasn't a whole lot of big surprises or anything but what was everyone really expecting? You still nice had moments and new directions like Chase & Yujiro returning to the real BC and Suzuki-Gun & LIJ reigniting their feud, only with much better line-ups this time as Taichi and ZSJ are replacing KES. Enjoyable show."

[6.0] "Decent card with decent matches obviously the day after the night before and incomparable to WK 13 but its used as a cool down so thats expected. White vs Tanahashi for the belt will be sick and cant wait."

[4.0] "New Year Dash means returns, debuts and face/heel turns. And in this show, there was nothing of them. Yesterday we watched an awesome WK, maybe one of the best in last 5 years but today we have watched maybe the worst New Year Dash ever. We could not even say ''bye'' to Elite. I give 4 points for Taichi's and Suzuki's performance."
