[6.0] "A better show than the WWF had been putting for the previous few weeks, and a decent go home to the Unforgiven pay-per-view. Once again, the wrestling is pretty mediocre, but the main aspect of this episode was Vince McMahon making Triple H run through a gauntlet of five matches, one against every one of the men he would face at Unforgiven... aaaaand pretty much every single one of them was a slog, what a surprise. And the whole story didn't make any sense either, this is more the thing you'd expect heel McMahon would put valiant babyface Austin through, not despicable heel Triple H. Still, I think the show managed to be entertaining, and it's a significant one seeing as it would be Shamrock's final TV appearance for the company, and Undertaker would take time off that would keep him away well into 2000. And another thing, I was never as big a fan of "My Time" as seemingly everybody else was, so having to hear it so much on this episode was almost unbearable."

[7.0] "So five Triple H matches in one night is a lot under any circumstances, let alone for a guy who doesn't really like Triple H in any era, but I do like there being a story going on through the night and they played it up nicely with a lot of fun gimmicks. It's fun in the style of the era for sure."

[8.0] "Triple H getting the gauntlet booking was odd as you would expect that to work far better on a babyface wrestler, but it made for an entertaining show and it's cool to see him getting some sort of comeuppance for all the toes he stepped on even though he does survive it. The boiler room brawl with Mankind is a pretty brutal sprint that I wish I could rate on this site and the main event with The Rock was pretty good considering it was his fifth match where Bulldog turns heel and is in his pocket. Does this mean Chyna can finally turn face now as she badly needs to for this feud with Jarrett. To be fair, she does get a good moment here where she smacks him with the frying pan in a similar incident to last week and also wears the pants. Outside of Triple H, there was also a surprise title change where The New Age Outlaws have a reunion and defeat The Rock and Sock Connection and also Jericho wears hockey gear complete with a helmet for his first blood match with Ken Shamrock, which would turn out to be Shamrock's final match with the company. Also X-Pac looked close to death when Undertaker and his crew shows up with him on the ramp during the Inferno match. Undertaker also noped out of the casket match with Triple H, which was pretty funny. It was a far more entertaining show overall than the poor Raw show this week although the Al Snow feud is still horrible to watch!"

[6.0] "getting to hear My Time a million times in one show is pretty cool that's an all-timer theme song. I like the concept of HHH running the gauntlet against everyone but it just didn't click with me having to see the most despicable guy on the roster in a valiant babyface role. As is always the case with this era a million things happen and not much of it gets any chance to breathe or be sold as a big deal, but i also can't hate on a show that has so much variety and actually has motivations and plans for almost the entire roster."

[8.0] "This show featured a ton of gimmick matches on free TV, but it still worked very well within the storyline, as Vince was making HHH EARN his PPV match after what happened last week. A great go home show as well."

[8.0] "Triple H having to run through a gauntlet just to be on the PPV was a pretty good way of Vince getting back to him. Undertaker not participating in the match because he just doesn't want to is funny, and so is Jeff Jarrett's gimmick of just attacking women for no reason. Bulldog also turned heel here."

[8.0] "I really liked the Triple H gauntlet throughout the show. All his matches were entertaining. The Tag Title match was pretty alright. The rest of the match were pretty eh."

[9.0] "Although this was a very Triple H heavy show this was still a very very good episode of Smackdown and the Triple H stuff was very memorable"

[9.0] "An unusual but still a great show. Triple H has 5 out of 9 matches here and all of them are gimmick ones. Most of them, except boiler room brawl, are unsurprisingly not good. However it is a great performance by HHH. Show also features surprising Bulldog heal-turn, NAO reunion and their immediate title win. Tag team match itself was good too."
