[5.0] "At the top of the card we get tag team action, Robley and Wrestling 2 going up against Kelly Kiniski and The Grappler. Its a fairly standard tag match for the time, and we get a promo from Wrestling 2 afterwards, he fumbles his words a little but the man is clearly annoyed about someone threatening him by defacing one of his masks. Lunde against Atlas is next on the card, a continuation from last weeks jumping of Atlas between Lunde and a couple of other reprobates. Lunde would go on to be known as Arn Anderson, and its just wild to see the man get thrown around and used as a prop just to highlight how strong Atlas is. Watts lays it on thick here about what an all American hero type Atlas is, and quite rightly too. The man is a physical specimen who can really work, and should be pushed to the moon in any era of the sport. Overall we get a fine squash match. Hacksaw Duggan goes against Ted Allen, Duggan takes his time while man handling Allen however he sees fit. Before Allen gets a notable hope spot where Duggan miscues a spear and goes head first into the buckle, this is short lived as a dazed Duggan manages to swiftly execute another one with success and secures himself a win. Up next we get Kamala - a gimmick so good he passed through to WCW and then to the WWF with this gimmick in hand. God bless the wrestling industry. He goes against Joe Gaines for a classic 5 star squash of the century. Why change up a winning formula? Chavo Guerrero vs Tony Anthony is up next, or Chauvo Guerro depending on where youre looking. Chavo has an exciting style for Mid-South and Watts absolutely shines here on commentary - explaining the moves and how theyre suppose to work, with the leverage and weight distribution etc - its a nice edition to the presentation. We get plenty of holds from Chavo, before we get an over the top rope dive (which actually meant something back then). Its a fine match really, though its not an exciting back and forth that you wish to see the Chavo partake in. Next we get Stagger Lee, or S.Lee - this is the angle that is lighting up Mid-South. And quite rightly too at that. It hadnt been overdone at this stage and all the participants have heavy crowd investment. Its done well, with a nudge nudge wink from Watts, who isnt the dumb bumbling commentator but is the rational man, who loves the Dog so much and despises the way he was forced out - resulting in him turning a purposeful blind eye prove to us its the dog, this is the same as all the other masked men in Mid-South. Stagger Lee squashes Smirnoff here, its nothing special as far as matches go. Cobra and Horner go up against the rugged and arrogant duo of Ted DiBiase and Matt Borne. Id say this was match of the night, and it was nice to see how giving the heels here were to Horner and Cobra. The two certainly deserving of a little offence, rather than the typical squash youd expect. Though the heels quite rightly go over. Overall this edition of Mid-South doesnt have too much going for it, besides the big names involved and Watts on commentary. Its filled with squash matches, and nothing of any real consequence feels like it occurs - the mask angle with Wrestling 2 gets off to a staggered start. And a result of all this the entire episode feels extremely average, especially when compared to prior episodes that really managed to pack more of a punch."
