[3.0] "2018 has been good for FIP, but not tonight. The opener being interrupted by The End is now a cliche, and it transitioned into an half-squash that helps nobody. At the very least, they immediately capitalised into Odinson/Davis, which had a bit of tension for the FIP Heritage title, but they really just brawled around for a bit, threw each other off and Jon Davis reversed a suplex and got the win in a match that just continues Jon Davis's lackluster reign. EFFY/Billy was quite atrocious, as FIP inexplicably wants to push the shock character that is Effy Gibbes and does so against Billy Barbosa whose run as a goofy enhancement has been weak, topping it off by a no-contest and a complete waste of time. Francisco Ciatso is convincing and oozes potential, but pairing him with one-time guest Logan Creed to a 2-minute countout did nothing for him. Earl Cooter's transformation into Bryan Idol as been nothing but good for his growth as an performer, yet he did not seem on par with the incredibly talented Fred Yehi, and his cheap victory does not really raise his profile, which is even sadder considering this is Yehi's final appearance in FIP. Inexplicably, Effy got another match after the intermission, which was better thanks to Serpentico but again exposes Effy as a mediocre overpushed hack. The rookies tag match was a nice buffer before the main event, full of excitement and a very satisfying showcase despite the obvious rookie mistakes and disjointedness, easily forgiven for their efforts and creativity. Darby Allin is a very likeable daring young wrestler that the crowd wants to get behind as a serious challener, but sadly this title shot felt like a filler defense for the champion and by the end he was easily dispatched. The show is like the main event, pretty much a wasted opportunity, with lots of talent getting stalled by the bad booking, and the other half being weak filler, making for an equally weak show that feels like an unnecessary step before a bigger event."
