I felt bad when I saw the whole place get up to get snacks during the women's match but when I saw how it ended, I wished I went with them. Rush squashed Dalton Castle despite Castle being one of the most over guys on the show, ZSJ and Tanahashi was boring and the Bully Flip power hour was a mess. Shoutout to PCO for taking a powerbomb from the Ring to the floor, that was disgusting (in a good way). Truly a tale of two shows. |

Wie es um die Relevanz und Klasse beider Promotions bestellt ist, sieht man perfekt an der Battle Royal. Während die Wrestler von NJPW wichtig wirken, kommen die von ROH wie Jobber rüber, die in den frühen Tagen von Raw gesquascht wurden. Wirklich in Rage brachte mich das unterirdische Match der Frauen (und so ein Match zu sehen, obwohl Mayu Iwatani involviert ist, ist eine wahre Rarität) sowie der Auftritt von Enzo und Cass. Hätte New Japan alleine die Show veranstaltet, würde ich ohne zu zögern 9 Punkte geben. Aber ROH hat diese (für ROH historische) Veranstaltung fast ruiniert. |

Viel unterschiedlicher könnte eine Show nicht sein. Während NJPW hier wirklich abliefert und einige starke Matches abliefert, ist die ROH Seite der Show leider schwach. Der Opener war sehr gut, schöner Styles Clash zwischen Powerhouse und Highflyer. Die nächsten drei ROH Matches sind nicht erwähnenswert, Rush gegen Castle ist vermutlich noch das Highlight, weil es am kürzesten ist. Der Three Way holt einen dann aus dem Loch raus, die drei gehen in 9 Minuten All Out und liefern ab. Das Tag Title Match war für die Zeit OK, hat auf jeden Fall die Erwartungen erfüllt. Tana und Sabre zeigen ein weiteres super Match, was anderes habe ich von den zwei nicht erwartet. Gleiches gilt auch für das IC Title Match. Ibushi und Naito können ihr NJC Match sogar nochmal leicht toppen. Immer wieder scary, welche Aktionen die zwei zeigen. Das Ladder Match fand ich dann ordentlich, aber für das größte Match in der Geschichte von Ring Of Honor vor über 15. 000 Leuten sehr enttäuschend. Zudem fand ich es zu lang. Der Main Event liefert dann wieder. Jay White liefert wieder mal super Heelwork und gerade die letzten Minuten sind gut. Whites Titelrun endet nach nur zwei Monaten, aber er hatte drei sehr ansehnliche Matches, von daher alles in Ordnung. Alles in allem war das eine gute Show, die mit etwas besserer Performance von Ring Of Honor richtig klasse hätte werden können. |

Hiroshi Tanahashi (9/10) - My personal favorite match of the night, ZSJ is so good man & Tana sells like no other. Tetsuya Naito v. Kota Ibushi (8/10) - Craziness, pure craziness here. Jay Lethal v. Matt Taven v. Marty Scurll (7/10) - Ladder stipulation felt unnecessary, still a great match with miserable ladder spots. Jay White v. Kazuchika Okada (9/10) - These two are so great and so young, I can't wait to see them go at it for years to come. |

Die Show kann man in 3 Stufen einteilen finde ich. Der Beginn war vielversprechend. Ordentliches Six Man Tag Team Match der Damen. Der Rumble war unterhaltsam, auch wenn der Sieger ne Katastrophe ist. Was wäre das für ein Pop gewesen wenn Liger oder Muta gewonnen hätten, aber nein.. es ist Kenny King. Unfassbar. Der Opener des eigentlich PPVs war dann sehr gut. Cobb und Ospreay haben einen schönen Clash der Wrestlingstile. Das hat Spaß gemacht. Dann beginnt der zweite Teil der Show. Der der absolute katastrophal ist. Geht mit Rush und Castle schon los. Wäre sicherlich ein schönes Match gewesen, so ist einfach nur Crap. Das Titelmatch der Frauen war eine Frechheit. Iwatani ist mal so Null motiviert was Gescheites zu machen und Klein kann es einfach nicht. Katastrophe! Der Six Man Brawl ist dann so gerade ok aber auch nicht wirklich gut. Der Three Way heitert es wieder ein wenig auf. Das war solide, aber auch mehr drin. Das Tag Team Match fand ich schwach. So lange PCO und King rumflippen war es gut, danach ging es bergab. Mit dem Desaster nach dem Match will ich gar nicht ernst anfangen. Ab dann gab es aber Vollgas bei der Show, was einen doch guten Gesamteindruck hinterläßt. Tanahashi gegen Sabre fand ich super gemacht. Wirklich schönes Match der beiden. Ibushi gegen Naito mein Match des Abends. Das war einfach fantastisch. Super Chemie, tolles Wrestling, die Crowd on fire. Ganz stark. Das Laddermatch war ok, aber leider auch nicht mehr. Erinnerte mich an ein WWE Leitermatch. Einer eigentlich immer draußen. Der Gewinn von Taven war überraschend. Der Main Event ist dann nochmal ein sehr starkes Match. Okada gegen White fühlt sich groß an. Okada strahlt so etwas von Superstar aus wie an diesem Abend eigentlich nur noch Naito. Ganz großes Kino. Und die Crowd freut sich riesig über einen Titelwechsel. Das hat mir wirklich gefallen. (***½) Endlich passiert etwas bei Einbahnstraßen-Castle. Die paar Moves von Rush sitzen jedenfalls. Die WOH-Division ist bislang tot und das Match von Klein eher obligatorisch. Vielleich können The Allüre hier etwas helfen. Nachdem der Live-Auftritt beim Taping schon nicht geklappt hat, hat ROH die Eier, das nochmal live im Garden zu machen. Peinliches Ding. Bei Buhrufen über sein Playback rappen. Wow. Einem der Top-Heels direkt paar Pops besorgt. Das Match im Anschluss nervt leider fast etwas. PWG-Spot-Action (ohne die Matchlänge) liefern dann die Jr. Heavyweights. Etwas zu knapp, aber unterhaltsam. (***½) Dann gibt es die große PCO-Show. Als Match geht das Chaos nicht durch, aber die Spots um PCO sitzen. Schön, wie man Enzo & Cass im Hintergrund sieht, während die Kommentatoren über ZSJ und Tana schnacken. Mal schauen, ob das wirklich ein Work war. Tanahashi langweilt sich dann mit ZSJ knapp über 15 Minuten durch den Ring. Da können sie mehr in der Konstellation. (**¾) Naito und Ibushi liefern ein MOTNC (****), während ROHs Title Match sich nicht als würdig erweist. Im Main Event regeln das Okada und White dann wieder mit dem zweiten MOTNC. (****) Solider Event, der deutlich zeigt, dass New Japan hier ROH echt ziehen musste. |

Die weniger guten Elemente der Show fallen ziemlich treffsicher auf alle ROH-Matches. Die sind nicht schlecht, aber bleiben eben gesundes US-Indy-Mittelmaß. Ausreißer nach oben ist das Three Way Ladder Match, Ausreißer nach unten der Street Fight. In diesem wirkten die Performer andauernd ungenau im Timing und unsicher in ihren Ringpositionen. Ständig müssen Wrestler auf ihre Spots warten. Ganz grausam fand ich auch das Promo-Segment mit Bully Ray vor dem Street Fight. Das Three Way Jr. Heavyweight Match dagegen ist trotz der Kürze ein richtig gutes und schnell geführtes Match. Es hätte ruhig noch fünf Minuten länger gehen können. Weitere positive Aspekte der Show sind auf jeden Fall Naito gegen Ibushi und Okada gegen Jay White. Naito und Ibushi wrestlen ein Match, dass als sinnvolle Fortsetzung ihres New Japan Cup Matches fungier; hart geführt und mit schneller Schlagzahl. Jay White und Okada konstruieren ein sehr gutes Match um ihre großen Finishing Moves herum, die als wahre Todesmaneuver dargestellt werden. Umso spezieller ist der Moment dann, als Jay White tatsächlich aus dem Rainmaker rauskickt. Insgesamt eine ordentliche Show, die auf der technische Ebene etwas holprig ist (Entrance-Themes werden abgehackt, kein Post-Match nach dem Main Event, sondern sofortige Abblende, etc. ), was aber wohl normale Wachstumsschmerzen sind. Bei einer weiteren großen Show in MSG oder anderen Arenen sollte sowas aber nicht mehr passieren. Ebenso wie es nicht passieren sollte, dass Jay Lethal eine Leiter in die Zuschauer wirft oder dass Enzo und Cass einfach so auftauchen und die Performer attackieren. Und wenn das ein Work war, war es ein schlechter, weil er vollkommen vom Ausgang des Matches und der Storyline, die eigentlich erzählt wurde ablenkte, so dass am Ende kaum jemand mitbekommen haben dürfte, dass Yano den Champions die Gürtel gestohlen hat. |

Ich weiß nicht ob New Japan alleine die Halle voll bekommen hätte, aber ich denke sie hätten ohne Ring of Honor eine bessere und konsistentere Show auf die Beine gestellt. Dabei fing die Show mit dem Opening Match super an, dann folgten aber gleich mehrere Matches, die allesamt irgendwie nicht so toll waren und stark den "Klassenvergleich" zwischen beiden Promotions aufzeigten und das auf mehreren Ebenen, nicht nur wrestlerisch. Ab ZSJ gegen Tanahashi nahm die Show dann wieder Fahrt auf, allerdings nur für zwei Matches denn der Semi Main Event war ein ziemlich schwacher elendlanger Kampf mit wenig bis gar keinen innovativen Table Spots und Matt Taven scheint mir auch nicht so das große Wrestlingtalent zu sein. Der Hauptkampf kam irgendwie nicht in die Gänge, das Publikum war zu dem Zeitpunkt der Show fast komplett raus, irgendwie ein lahmer Kampf, ich denke nachwievor dass der Push für Jay White viel zu früh kommt und er in dem "Spot" (noch) nichts zu suchen hat. Die US-Kommentatoren waren in Ordnung nur Colt Cabana ging mir so einige Male auf die Nerven, ich glaube im Ring ist er besser aufgehoben als am Mikro. |

The NJPW stuff was generally quite strong, with an excellent Ibushi vs. Naito match as a particular highlight, and after a good main event, I think putting the belt back on Okada was the right move for the time being. The ROH side was mostly OK with a few puzzling decisions (while the Women of Honor division needs a shot in the arm, I'm not sure the Beautiful People are the ones to do it, and I can't see bringing Enzo and Cass in as bringing much positive to the product either in publicity or in the ring), though I did like their main event as well. But, if the ROH side did maybe whiff a few things for their big MSG moment, overall it was still a pretty enjoyable show overall. |

Der Junior 3Way ging gut ab, wobei ich mir auch hier mehr erhofft habe. Ich dachte schon, dass das Match an die 16 min bekommt. Es war aber gut und aus der gegebenen Zeit wurde das beste gemacht *** 3/4. Das Tag Team Titel Match hat mich sehr postiv überraschtund war bis zu dem Zeitpunkt das beste Match des Abends wie ich fand *** 3/4. PCO wollte sich wirklich killen hatte ich den Eindruck. ZSJ vs Tanahashi war ok. Etwas langweilig stellenweise aber die Technik war gut *** 1/2. Ibushi vs Naito hatten schon bessere Matches, aber dies war keinesfalls schlecht. Eine sehr gute Schlussphase gab es ****. Das Ladder Match empfand ich auch besser als die meisten. Es gab einige gute Spots, auch wenn es was kürzer hätte sein können ****. Der Main Event war das MOTN. Ein gutes spannendes Match welches nielangweilig war und sehr gute Konter hatte. Das finish war sehr gut und es war das beste Match was ich bisher von Jay White gesehen habe **** 1/2. Im großen und ganzen eine gute Show, auch wenn es nur ein großartiges Match gab, so gab es doch viele überdurchschnittliche. |

For the pre-show, the Honor Rumble lacked some major star power. Few stars and plenty of unknowns. Fun rumble nonetheless. The reactions for Jushin Liger and the Great Muta were spectacles in their own rights. Dodgy finish tho. Jeff Cobb against Will Ospreay was the perfect match to start the main event with. Great match to fire the crowd up with plenty of high impact moves and near falls. Rush vs Castle was a shocker. Match lasted seconds and Castle went berserk afterwards. A reverse hurricanrana botch slightly hurt the Women of Honor title match, but the majority of the match was a lot better than expected. Good effort from both women. Post match was some good stuff. The street fight was fun, but longer than it had to be. The kendo stick spot was sick! Junior Heavyweight title match was great and could have benefited from more time. Dragon Lee was a star here. The Briscoes should have walked into the tag title match as ROH tag champs and walked out double champs. Regardless, this was a a solid match with lots going on, but the star was PCO. I think this is one of those few times I gave him attention and pretty glad I did. Tanahashi and Sabre had a great match with plenty of wrestling, and two men trying to outdo one another. I enjoyed the limb work from both men. The closing moments were fantastic. Naito vs Ibushi was excellent and could main event any show. Both men took one another to the absolute limit. The ladder match started off well but eventually dragged on longer than necessary. Some good offense from all three men. Nothing else of note happened other than the result. Main event was a very good match that was only derailed by the antics of Jay White, but both men did great with a fantastic reaction to Okada winning. Honestly, this event was great and enjoyable. Props to all. |

Kluges Booking durchweg mit King vs. King zum Start und mehreren Überraschungen und holy shit, der Great Muta war auch dabei. Lediglich die Intervalle waren etwas kurz. Cobb vs. Elgin war sehr gut mit überraschendem Sieger, den Squash gegen Dalton Caslte fand ich in dieser Form allerdings eher überflüssig. Kelly vs. Mayu war nichts. Ich kann Kelly Klein nichts abgewinnen, unsauber und kein bisschen athletisch, zudem braucht sie dringend ein anderes Outfit, den Angle danach hätte man sich auch sparen können. Street Fight geht in Ordnung, das Jr. Title Match leidet unter der vollen Card und bekommt zu wenig Zeit. So gibt es leider nur Spots und einen Titelwechsel ohne Bedeutung. IWGP Tag Title war widerum ganz nett und es scheint als hätte PCO keine Lust mehr auf Wrestling. Was war das bitte für ein kranker Spot? Dann wird es richtig gut. Sabre und Tanahashi mit einem starken Match, welches von Naito und Ibushi nochmal getoppt wird. Ibushi schaltet wieder in den fuck you Modus und das Match ist einfach klasse. Matt Taven gewinnt in einem ebenfalls guten Ladder Match den Titel und von der Aufmachung her, war das genau der richtige Zeitpunkt. Hat mir gefallen. Der Main Event streitet sich dann mit Naito vs. Ibushi um das MOTN, richtig starkes Match, in dem beide von der klaren Rollenverteilung profitieren, welche von den Fans hervorragend angenommen wird. |

If NJPW would do this show alone, it would be much better. New Japan Pro Wrestling saved the day and ROH's arse. Match of the night was Naito vs Ibushi and they should give more extra minutes to Jr Heavyweight Title match as opposed to a meaningless street fight. 8/10. ROH Sucks. |

Der Opener war sehr ordentlich und auch der Squash danach ist noch passig, um Rush gleich stark aussehen und Castle turnen zu lassen. Die Women of Honor enttäuschen aber und die Crowd ist eher an den Geschehnissen um Hart interessiert. Auch wenig verwunderlich. Der Street Fight lässt mich relativ kalt und so heiß das Junior Match war, so hätten ein paar Minuten mehr hier nicht nur was cooles, sondern was richtig großes entstehen lassen. Man hätte die "Zeiten" der Matches tauschen sollen. Tag 4-Way war solide, mit sickem PCO Bump gegen Ende. Zabre gegen Tanahashi gewohnt klasse, wenn auch nicht das Maximum, zu dem beide fähig wären. Passt für den Spot aber perfekt und bringt Abwechslung in die Card. Ganz anders ist Ibushi gegen Naito. Im Ring noch stärker, dramatischer und wilder, merkt man dass die Show hier langsam Fahrt aufnimmt. Ebenfalls top. Leider kommt dann das ROH Title Match, das zwar einige gute Spots und vor allem viel gute Charakterarbeit hat, aber mit 29 Minuten einfach VIEL zu lang ist. 10 Minuten weniger hätten massig gereicht. Natürlich wollen Okada und White dann erstmal die Crowd runterbringen, damit sie zur starken zweiten Hälfte dabei sind, was für mich unnötig war, da ich den Co-Mainer unterm Strich zu dröge fand. Als die beiden dann richtig loslegen wurde es top und am Ende ist Okada wieder da. Kurzum: Nur eine gute Show, da die NJPW Parts sehr gut, aber teils etwas unter dem NJPW Standard sind und ROH mir wieder nur bewiesen hat, dass es mich bei weitem nicht mehr so interessiert wie vor z. B. noch 10 Jahren. |

The New Japan Rumble was very fun, despite the lame duck win. I wasn't feeling Ospreay/Cobb that much, it wasn't bad but Ospreay seemed sloppy to me. Definitely the right winner though. I was hoping Rush/Dalton would be a real match but I've heard Castle is pretty beat up, so maybe he can take some time off to come back strong. I liked Klein/Mayu, no idea why people are crapping all over it. Klein really picked Mayu apart, and she was her usual great self. The Beautiful People being hired by ROH is very stupid though. I actually really liked the hardcore six man too, way more than I expected to. Bully can still put on a show. Dragon/Ishimori/Bandido was super fun. The 4way tag, quite honestly, was my MOTN, thanks mostly to Brody King and especially PCO, who had the best entrance at probably 4 of the top 5 spots of the night, the man is amazing. Sabre/Tana was very good. Ibushi/Naito was good but feels overrated to me, they went all out for sure but I guess it's not my kind of match. ROH ladder match was great, really overperformed. Okada/White felt very long, but at least the right man won. Historic show that I enjoyed a lot! |

Main event just edges out the IC title match for MOTN and putting the title back on Okada was the right decision in my eyes. The two title unification matches were also enjoyable, as was the Jr title match. However, despite the match quality late in the show, the length definitely hurt it, as the crowd was dead at the start of most matches and had to be won over, which fortunately they were. |

Rush/Castle was a quick squash that got Rush over. Klein/Mayu was bad. Mayu tried hard but Klein didn't put in a good performance at all, and the return of Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, and Mandy Leon completely turned the crowd off. If you want to see a good WOH match check out Mayu's recent match with Konami (*). Next came an overly long Bully Ray segment followed by an alright 3 on 3 street fight. The crowd seemed into it at least, but I didn't enjoy it that much (**). The Junior heavyweight match was awesome, and just what was needed to get the show back on track. Fast, flippy, and never overstayed it's welcome (****). The 4-way tag was pretty great as well, PCO is an absolute madman, but is the one place where The Elite was missed as TYB would have added so much needed energy and star power to the match (***3/4). Then Enzo jumped the barricade. If it was a shoot then that's unfortunate, but if it was a work then this may be the stupidest way to introduce someone I've ever seen. The amount of time it took to deal with it, along with the fact that no-one in attendance seemed into it almost completely killed the crowd after they'd done so well to bring it back with the previous two matches. Thankfully ZSJ/Tanahashi was awesome, Zack worked Tana's arm brilliantly while Tana tried to mount offense of his own with a damaged hand. (****1/4). Ibushi/Naito was MOTN, topping their NJC match and reaching the heights of their G1 matches (****3/4). The ROH title match was a really good ladder match, with the wrong person winning (****). Okada/White was a masterclass in storytelling, with White seemingly having Okada scouted at every turn and Okada trying to get momentum throughout the match (****3/4). The Honor Rumble showed how little depth the ROH roster has, being full of their lower card guys, whereas the NJPW contingent had some star power in Goto, Fale, Ishii, Suzuki, Liger, Shingo etc. Cobb vs Ospreay was a fantastic match that really set the bar for the rest of the show. I enjoyed Rush vs Dalton Castle for what it was, Rush came out of the match looking like an absolute beast pinning a formed ROH World Champion in 15 seconds, and it added a lot of shock value to the show. The ROH Women's title match was god awful, Klein and Iwatani had zero chemistry. I could have done without this match and the New York Street Fight altogether. The show was drastically rescued by the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title three way, and it was great to see Dragon Lee given a chance to take the gold and run with it. Bandido looked really impressive here too. The ROH/IWGP Tag Title match was exactly as it was expected to be, but had some really awesome moments such as PCO getting powerbombed to the floor. I was let down a bit by Tanahashi/ZSJ as they've had far better matches. Not a bad match by any means but they've had way better. Ibushi vs Naito was awesome, I don't remember the last time I saw either have a bad match. I thought their NJ Cup match was better, but this one was still fantastic. The ROH World Title match was alright... but with most ladder matches now, there has been that many, all the spots have been done to death, and I just don't enjoy these matches anymore. Okada vs White was a classic, and it's nice to see the fall of the Rainmaker come full circle and retake his spot back on at the top of the company. Overall a decent show. ROH needs to step it up, as it's plain as day that NJPW are in a completely different league to them. |

No one cared about the first dark match. 1/10. The Rumble was alright, the crowd popped for Suzuki, Ishii, Liger and Muta but that was about it. 5. 5/10. Ospreay Cobb was fun, the crowd went nuts when Cobb kicked out of the OsCutter. 8. 25/10. Rush vs Dalton Castle was the first well-booked squash match in pro wrestling in a while. 4/10. No one really cared about the womens match. Bathroom break for everyone @MSG. 4. 25/10. The 6-man had some nice storytelling behind it. Pretty good use of weapons, pretty entertaining. Im one of the few people who actually like what theyve been doing w/ this. 6. 5/10. The juniorweight match was a spotfest. Insane match but not much more than spots. 7. 75/10. 4-Corner Survival tag match was nice. Entrances were cool, especially GOD and PCO. The PCO sit up at ringisde was a fun moment. This was ok. Enzo and Cass attacking was cool, but it wont count as part of the rating bc it wasnt part of the match. 5. 75/10. People were excited for ZSJ vs Tana, chanting Ohhh, Zack Sabre Jr and dueling chants of Tanahashi ZSJ! This match put over ZSJ but wasnt that exciting. 6. 5/10. People were mad hyped for the IWGP IC Title match. It wasnt as good as their G1 match, but solid nonetheless. Crowd was split on who to root for, but everyone still basically cheered when Ibushi won. 8. 75/10. The ladder match is pretty underrated. It was decently exciting, at least for the fans in attendance. This was very unpredictable, but I think Taven was honestly the right decision in the end. Best part was when the ladder hit the fan and everyone chanted Thats a lawsuit! Nice finger work near the end. 7. 5/10. Main event was crazy. The Rainmaker kickout was nice, established Switchblade as a star. The crowd was hot from the start till the end. Imo Switchblade shouldve won, but the match was great nonetheless. 9. 25/10. |
