[9.0] "The way I rate shows is I add up the ratings from the matches and average them out, round to the nearest whole number, then give or take a point based on personal preference. This allows me to have some sort of control over what a show gets, but it also forces me to be objective in that the rating is mostly based on the ratings of the matches. I can't give a show a 10 just because I liked one match or a 0 just because I hated one match. I'm giving this show a 9, and that is the highest I've ever rated a show, and that rating is well deserved. I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone who gave the show a 10. The Jr. Heavyweight Title match was a track meet, a gymnastics meet, and a barfight all rolled into one. Jericho vs. Naito was an instant classic reminiscent of the territories. It would've fit right in on an 70's or 80's AWA or WCCW card. Young Bucks vs. EVIL & SANADA was such a great piece of storytelling, the Bucks sold their asses off and really played up those injuries before scoring the upset. REY MYSTERIO WAS ON THIS SHOW. If I would've told you in 2013 that in five years' time, Rey Mysterio would be tagging with Tanahashi and Liger on a New Japan show you would've called me crazy. And of course, the main event is the greatest match I've ever seen. I almost wish Meltzer hadn't given it 7 stars because I feel like that dominated the discussion, when the reality is, whatever the maximum number of stars should be, that match deserves all of them. Okada vs. Omega IV is genuinely a once in a lifetime match. Maybe somebody will top it some day (and I dare someone to try), but I'm not holding my breath. That match was perfect. Zooming out to the rest of the show, it's just not very often that everything falls into place the way it did for this show. This is my pick for the greatest wrestling show of all time. MVP of the show goes to Kenny Omega for putting in the performance of a lifetime."

[10.0] "This card has the arguably greatest match of all time with Omega vs Okada IV(Omega gets his incredible title win moment with the elite) on it as well as great bouts between Jericho vs Naito, and Ospreay vs Hiromu, and more. Looking at the talent on this card is also just insane. Kenny Omega, Kazuchika Okada, Rey Mysterio, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tetsuya Naito, Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Will Ospreay, "Hangman" Adam Page, Justin Thunder Liger, Hiromu Takahashi, Jay White, Zack Sabre Jr, Minoru Suzuki, The Young Bucks, Tomohiro Ishii, SANADA, Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI, El Desperado, Juice Robinson, and even more. Need I say anything else. Overall an incredible card with legendary remembrance and matches as well as just being a phenomenal watch of a pro-wrestling show. NJPW Dominion 6.9 in Osaka Jo Hall is easily a 10/10 show in my eyes."

[10.0] "It's one of my favorite shows of all time, all companies included. Because this was the first big NJPW show I ever watched live. I'd just discovered New Japan and liked it, but this show made me fall in love with it. Firstly, it contained my favorite match: Omega vs Okada IV. Secondly, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho were in a match, which was very important because before discovering NJPW I only watched WWE, which made it much easier for me to discover the product. And thirdly, all the other matches were entertaining, whether it was Ospreay vs Takahashi or the 3-Way for the NEVER title or Young Bucks vs LIJ with Young Bucks' first Heavyweight title. I was a fan of the elite so I was happy."

[10.0] "Amazing show, the feeling after it ended was unreal. At the time, It felt like a cataclysmic shift. So many storylines concluded here: Hiromu reunion with Mr.Belt, the Bucks finally making it to the heavyweight division, Jay White finally losing, Okada's reign, Kenny's heavyweight run, the Okada/Omega feud itself. The only damper is how irrelevant the show felt after just 6-7 months. Seriously a chunk of the guys here were gone then."

The Never Title 3 way was decent Taichi actually didn? t ruin it, the heavyweight Tag Title match really showed how great the Bucks are at selling and telling a story, the 6 man was ok good to see Rey in a NJPW ring, Hiromu/Ospreay was exactly what you expect out of the two, Jericho/Naito was a crazy wat and perfect coming off the great athletic junior match. And the main event was probably the best match. Hell of a show"

[9.0] "This felt more like one of NJPW B level shows to be honest. A bunch of solid but not spectacular undercard tag matches that pushed forward storylines but the top level matches deliver in spades. Highlights was the Young Bucks winning the heavyweight tag belts, the junior title match and of course the main event which saw the end of the greatest world tile reign of all time."
RatingsMachine wrote on 22.10.2018:
[10.0] "Headlined by what I and a lot of other people consider to be the greatest match of all time, Dominion was one of the better shows of all time. There wasn't a bad match on the undercard, although a couple of them were 'only' decent, so the show as a whole doesn't quite merit consideration for being the best show of all time. But with a great match between Ospreay and Takahashi, an incredible match between Naito and Jericho, and a main even that went well beyond incredible, Dominion easily warrants a 10."

Jericho came, and did what he does best. Takahashi vs Ospreay was another banger. ****½ for that. A very underrated bout between the Heavyweight tag champs and the newly promoted heavyweights. Probably my second favourite match of the night. ****½. Overall, fantastic job, kudos to everyone involved in this pay-per-view."

It was good to see the Young Bucks finally win the heavyweight tag belts. Jericho/Naito was a fun brawl. This show will always be remembered for it's main event but the rest of the card also delivered."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 25.06.2018:
[9.0] "The main event is sure to go down as a classic of modern wrestling - an epic-length roller coaster culminating with Omega fulfilling his destiny and Okada's historic reign coming to an end. A must-see. Elsewhere, Omega's Elite-mates the Bucks fulfilled their own destiny by moving up in weight class to claim the heavyweight Tag Title in a great match with the LIJ contingent; Jericho and Naito collide in a vicious brawl of a sort no one would have expected; Hiromu and Ospreay tore it down in a match filled with exciting spots, and there was a fun little six-man with Bullet Club vs legends. The first several matches are unessential (but not bad), but once this show got to the Heavyweight Tag Title match it became a contender for show of the year."
Hugo Guimaraes wrote on 23.06.2018:
[9.0] "Despite starting the event with a not so great of a match, the event sure will go down in history as one of the very bests ever. I loved the Suzuki and Ishii altercations, the Bucks win it finally, Rey Mysterio debuts, Jericho won another Intercontinental title and in the best bout ever Kenny Omega is finally IWGP Heavyweight champion. I only didnt liked the first match maybe because i am used to start an NJPW event by watching an instant classic by the Young Bucks."

[10.0] "I love this show, it's a perfect combination of great matches with an undercard of good matches. The last three matches are all spectacular, Naito vs Jericho is intense in a different way from Takahashi vs Osprey, that is an incredible performance by two skilled wrestlers. Okada vs Omega isn't easy to describe for how it's great, just watch it and rewatch it again. This is the right payoff of a 720 days long reign. Also Young Bucks vs Los Ingobernables is a crazy match. It's so easy to give 10 points to Wrestlekingdom e Dominion events, New Japan is doing everything right."

No bad thing on the show and every match has a purpose - that is what I appreciate. Bucks match was the first real standout match of the night then the jr match, ic match and the main event. Jericho winning was shocking and I want what happens next. Main event is easily one of the best I have ever seen. Nice call backs from their previous 3, full of storytelling and I am glad they didn't try so hard and do too much. Finishers were VERY WELL DONE and EXCECUTED. Thank you both okada and omega."

[10.0] "At first I was debating watching this show live, and I can gladly say that Dominion 2018 was an absolute pleasure well worth the live watch. The Jr. Tag was a pretty solid opener (***1/4), while Finlay/Juice vs. YOSHI-HASHI/White was the worst on the card, but I liked Juice getting the pin on White to set up a US-title match (***). Ishii/Yano vs. Suzuki/ZSJ was pure entertainment, with Ishii and Suzuki beating the hell out of each-other (***1/2). ZSJ also had the spot of the night countering Yano's low-blow by clenching his legs together, LOL. The NEVER-title three way was solid, definitely surpassed my expectations (***1/4). The Heavyweight tag-title match was borderline great, with a splendid showcase of selling courtesy of the Young Bucks (***3/4). The six-man tag was also fun and a really good showcase for Mysterio, looking forward to more of him in NJPW. (***1/2). Hiromu and Will had a fantastic back-and-forth bout, really loved Ospreay trying to slow down Hiromu only for the madman to absolutely destroy him in the end. (****1/2) Speaking of destruction, Naito/Jericho was a fun brawl in which Jericho went wild and took Naito completely out of his element thus securing Y2J his 10th IC Title. Great match, hoping Naito gets his win back though (****). And the main event, oh man, what can I say? It was simply an epic culmination to this fantastic rivalry, with Omega getting the nakama power-up to finally dethrone Okada. These two certainly made history in Osaka, and Omega's celebration was a legit feel-good moment for anyone who considers themself a wrestling fan. (*****) I can undoubtedly say this was probably the best experience I have had watching a live show. I fucking love NJPW."

NEVER Title Match: ***1/2. Taichi was actually good in this! Very good. IWGP Title match: ****1/4. This was great! Great opponents for each other. When this was over, i couldn't wait for another match between these 2 teams, and with the booking of this division, i know it will happen again soon. SANADA felt like a ring general in here. Can't wait to see this again. Legends/BC 6 man: **3/4. Fine. Rey is great. Cody likes to stall. Will/Hiromu: ****. Brutal dropping on the head by both. Great match. Naito/Jericho: ****. Great brawl. Postmatch was VERY interesting. Main Event: *****. Without question this was 5 stars. This felt like a cross between a Heavyweight Boxing Title Fight and a High Drama Film. I was brought to tears. This was perfect. Show Of The Year."

Great tag team wrestling from the Bucks and LIJ, incredible technical wrestling by Will and Hiromu, brutal bowling by Y2J and Tetsuya and Perfect storytelling and wrestling by Kenny and Okada. Seriously thrilled by this event. Now onto the G1!"

If I was to compare the rivalry these two have it would have to be either Flair/Steamboat, Austin/Rock, The Rock N Roll Express/Midnight Express. These two upped the ante from their previous three matches. How can you go from two ****** and a ******1/4? I would give this match higher than all three."

Opener was too short for the effort R3K and Kanemaru/Desperado have been putting in the past several months, ***1/2. Juice/Finlay vs Jay/YOSHI was short but had a purpose in setting up Juice to be a strong contender for Jay's US title, ***1/4. Zack/Suzuki vs Yano/Ishii was quite fun, and Suzuki vs Ishii needs to happen sooner than later, ***1/2. First title match of the night with Elgin/Taichi/Goto for the NEVER title overdelivered in putting on a very good match, ****. Bucks vs LIJ was sure to be a great match, and it was, but I did not expect the Bucks to win the belts so soon, ****1/4. BC vs Mysterio/Liger/Tanahashi was a mediocre debut for Mysterio, ***1/4. Ospreay and Hiromu once again killed themselves in an epic title match, ****1/2. Jericho vs Naito was surprisingly a really fun match with a controversial finish, ****1/4. Main event was an all time classic of course with Omega finally realiizing a life long dream, *****."

Dominion was probably one of the best wrestling events I've seen since WM17, and that was 17 years ago. An event needs to have great matches top-to-bottom for me to rate it high, and in this case I think every single match delivered on some level. Not every match needs to be some 30+ minute long drawn out thing, and I think they balanced everything out just fine to make time for the main event. But I have to give one point off because YOSHI-HASHI was booked; had they got rid of him it'd be 10 (just kidding)."

Even Jericho vs Naito was good, even if it was't mind blowing. Elgin winning was shocking (considering) but I like it and he was so good in the match. The Tag team title matches were both good ad very enjoyable. And that main event was outstanding. Okada's title reign is finally over and it's been a great one, no doubt. So many great, great matches. Matches that'll be hard to forget for years. It's going to be hard seeing Okada without it and it'll be hard for Omega to follow up. So may things can happen. It's exciting."

NEVER 3 way was great and better than expected. Elgin may be an asshole but he'll fit in great as champ ****. LIJ vs Bucks was great. Really well worked match that made everyone look great and The Bucks especially ****. Team Mysterio vs BC was really fun ***3/4. Ospreay vs Hiromu was awesome. I think though it moved too quick a pace and the crowd didn't get the chance to absorb everything and so it took some time before they got loud and into it. Nonetheless this was amazing ****1/2. Naito vs Jericho was great but a but sloppy, not as great as the Omega match. Definitely shocking outcome ****. Omega vs Okada was legendary. It's hard to compare, but it was every bit on par with their previous matches. This one was the slowest pace but my God was it enthralling. And Omega winning was such an amazing moment. Built so well to each fall. These guys are the Kings of pacing. Easily *****+. Epic show. Think last year's Dominion still edges it out overall, but this was still one of the better events you'll see"
