[7.0] "The last 85 minutes of the show were fire. Unfortunately the show was 250 minutes long. And most of it was bad. Like the only undercard matchI liked was Liger's 6-Man. Ishii & Yano vs Henare & Makabe was decent too. Semi-main was very very good (****) with the great Bone Soldier II reveal after the match. Main event was almost perfect (****1/2)."

[7.0] "A 2-match show. Thankfully they were matches to be counted on! Two excellent and very different epic-style clashes. The IWGP Junior Title match had amazing moments, but not too big a fan of how they spent the time in between killing each other. That's an era modern wrestlers can learn from old school wrestling. They way they do it these days it doesn't feel like they're staling to recover. Apart from the neck issues they're just bending over catching their breath and it gets frustrating in that "why isn't he attacking" way. Feels like forever for any aggression to come. But when it did, "Oh My God! " it was killer! The IWGP Heavyweight Title bout absolutely had a story to tell! Not too happy with the pace and length, though this wasn't a match I was looking at my watch or anything like that. The drama had me. It had the explosions when there needed to be. It's Tanahashi structured and Okada length making the historic moment feel extra special. Jushin Thunder Liger & Tiger Mask & Ryusuke Taguchi -vs- Shota Umino & Ren Narita & Yuya Uemura [* 3/4], Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens -vs- Yuji Nagata & Tomoyuki Oka [* 1/2], Rocky Romero & SHO & YOH -vs- Takashi Iizuka & Taichi & Taka Michinoku [* 1/4], Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano -vs- Togi Makabe & Toa Henare [**], Hirooki Goto & Jay White & YOSHI-HASHI -vs- Michael Elgin & Juice Robinson & David Finlay [** 1/4], Tetsuya Naito & EVIL & SANADA & BUSHI & Hiromu Takahashi -vs- Minoru Suzuki & Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Yoshinobu Kanemaru & El Desperado [* 3/4], Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi & Bad Luck Fale & Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa -vs- Cody & Hangman Page & Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson & Marty Scurll [* 1/2], Will Ospreay (c) -vs- KUSHIDA - (IWGP Junior Title) [*** 1/2], Kazuchika Okada (c) -vs- Hiroshi Tanahashi - (IWGP Title) [*** 3/4]"

[8.0] "The undercard was solid as always. But the top 2 matches delivered as expected. And lots of storylines developed here. What's next for cody ? Juice/White for us title. Elgin/goto/taichi for never title. LIJ/Bucks for the heavyweight tag belt. Ishimori as the newest member of BC. Jericho returning to attack naito was awesome and brutal. Okada called out omega for part IV which was amazing. I love how only one show already developed so many feuds next. Great job NJPW after 2 underwhelming shows,"

[9.0] "Two great final match. Okada and Tanahashi create another classic match. What awesome about the dontaku is the storyline. Jericho beat up and bust wide open Naito's head is one of the awesome moment. Bullet Club reunion (or roll call? ) is a two sweet moment. Taiji Ishimori debut as Bullet Club new member is awesome. He will be major contender and possibly win BOSJ 2018. Okada and Omega 4, 2 of 3 pinfall and unlimited time was set up in Dontaku."

[8.0] "After the disappointment of Hinokuni and the underwhelming Dontaku Day 1 show NJPW finally gave us something worthwhile with this fantastic show. It had everything you could want from any wrestling show: amazing matches, interesting storyline progression, shocking returns, and exciting debuts. The first 1/3rd of the show is taken up by entirely skippable though still relatively enjoyable short matches. The young lions all continued to improve, and the NJPW veterans show that they can still go. Henare and Ishii had some especially fun interactions in their tag match. Matches were all about ** to **1/2. Moving into the middle of the show we got some more interesting performances. The Chaos vs Elgin, Finlay, & Juice, LIJ vs Suzuki-gun, and Bullet Club vs Bullet Club tag matches were all alright, but more noteworthy for the storyline progression within them. Elgin showed off his bruiser work and got me very excited to see him vs Goto (with a possible Taichi vs Goto matchup lingering in the background). White also set out a challenge against Juice, which could be a fun match. The LIJ vs Suzuki-gun match was the usual fun if repetitive stuff. Uncharacteristically quick finish to make way for Jericho's awesome return and brutal attack on Naito. The BC vs BC match had lots of fun interactions. Cody remains a great heel, and there is interest with where BC goes from here since all the subordinate members united at the end but without Cody, Omega, and Ibushi. Is BC going leaderless, perhaps? These matches were all **3/4 to ***. Ospreay vs Kushida was awesome. Ospreay's poor selling was annoying at times, but otherwise he was fantastic, and Kushida looked great with his own acrobatics. Great chemistry between them. ****1/4. AMAZING debut of Ishimori as the new Bone Soldier. What an awesome grab for NJPW. Okada vs Tanahashi was just amazing. Some awesome symbolism, a lot of fantastic drama, and the usual crazy exchanges. Absolutely loved this. ****1/2"

[7.0] "The two last matches delivered but I felt that the undercard matches didn't deliver. Even the Bullet Club tag team matches."

[8.0] "The undercard for this show dragged on way too slow, but the two main events more than made up for it; also Jericho is back! Glad to see the BC "civil war" seems to be wrapping up, but there is still animostiy between Cody and Kenny, ***1/4. Kushida and Ospreay killed it again with the right guy going over; Ishimori debuted right after! , ****1/2. Okada and Tanahashi once again proved they are modern legends in another very compelling match, ****3/4."
