This edition of SummerSlam was one that started okay, it was on good way, but matches like Lex Luger vs Mabel and the Main Event of the 2 takers were horrible. Also that took the Main Event for Owen and Bret who had the best match of this show, and then close are Diesel vs Razor Ramon and even the women's match of Alundra vs Bull Nakano, If a women's match back then was better than your whole card can't help too much. 6/10"

The Undertaker vs. Undertaker storyline is corny and dated, but very underappreciated and enjoyable as a spectacle. Both of the other title matches of the night are very engaging above average matches. Jarrett vs. Mabel is the only thing that sucks about this show. Not a perfect event, and there are some Summerslams that surpass it, but this is a classic event for sure."

Overall WWF SummerSlam (1994) is a great show thanks to the strength of its top matches and crowd."

The cage match is the most memorable match from this one, but we also had Tatanka (not Luger) selling out to Ted Dibiase and Razor Ramon winning the I-C title from his buddy, Big Kev. Then there was Leslie Nielsen and George Kennedy, who were so out of place at this event, it was almost painful to watch. The Hart Family feud was the highlight for me, but the Undertaker Vs. Undertaker storyline was a big miss."

Match 1: 4/10 Match 2: 6/10 Match 3: 7/10 Match 4: 4/10 Match 5: 4/10 Match 6: 10/10 Match 7: 2/10 Overall Total: 5.28/10"

Lots of uninteresting filler between the matches and a lot of unnecessary recaps. I was still only neutral on it overall, but the god awful main event skewed me towards a negative score."

[8.0] "I honestly really enjoyed this edition of SummerSlam. While a few matches are a bit mediocre, they're all on the short side so they aren't too much of a hindrance, and I really enjoyed Nakano vs. Blayze and Diesel vs. Razor and would consider both to be relatively overlooked. I'm in the camp that views the Steel Cage match as a classic, and if you want to know more about why then you can look at my review on the matchguide. I also thought that the show succeeded outside of the matches as well, since it had a strong atmosphere and some really memorable segments. They do an excellent job setting the stage for Bret vs. Owen, and I love the post-match, too. Even the entrance tunnel was pretty awesome. The Leslie Nielsen segments are absurd, but at least in a way that made me laugh - the way they close the PPV is so bad and unfunny that it still managed to make me laugh for how dumb it was. Unfortunately, the main event is dire. I don't even mind the feud, but the match was just awful and Brian Lee puts in a horrendous performance. I enjoyed Undertaker's entrance, but you're probably better off just switching the show off once the bell rings. Other than that, I thought this was a really entertaining PPV."

[6.0] "Some good highlights but a lot of skippable stuff too. Opening tag match is mostly innofensive decent enough work by the heels, and some energy by the Headshirnkers but it had a pointless dirty finish (4/10) Blayze/Nakano was a pretty good boutwith the heel dominating and the face mounting fast paced comebacks. Quick, but thankfully not as short as other Women's matches form the era (7/10) Razor/Diesel had a very similar formula to the previous match, it was helped by the fact both guys were more over. It slowed down a bit too much in sections but still pretty good (7/10) Tatanka/Luger had some high impact moves and didn't overstay its welcome, Lex should've turned heel instead though (5/10) Jarrett tried his damn best to get something watchable out of Mabel, and he succeded still nothing good (4/10) Bret/Owen is an outstanding cagematch where every single escape attempt feels important tense all the way throught. Awesome storytelling and great work from the brothers MOTN by far (10/10) On the opposite end of the scale the Main Event is probably the most borin Undertaker match I have seen and the dumb storyline around it sticks out like a sore thumb during the whole show one point for the tombstone exchange I guess (1/10)"

[5.0] "Not a bad PPV with an absolutely horrendous main event. Some simple matches that were alright, but nothing special like the tag team opener, Tatanka vs Luger and Jarrett vs Mabel. I loved the women's match and thought that Nakano was phenomenal in this - one of the best big wrestler displays I've seen. Then the IC Title match was also very good with Nash once again proving that he's one of the better big guys in the business, while Razor showed everyone how over he is with the crowd. Then Owen vs Bret really disappointed me - it was way too long and it's one of the rare times when I think the match is severely overrated, plus it worn the fans out before the main event which was one of the most silent main events I have ever watched. Horrible end to the PPV that overall was decent, but dragged a bit at times."

[7.0] "Overall, I would say this show was pretty great on the whole. The Bret/Owen WWF Title match was the undisputed MOTN, easily the greatest Steel Cage match in the WWF, or maybe even of all time for that matter. You can take it or leave it as far as the undercard is concerned, though there's some good stuff in there for you to pick from, notably Razor/Diesel and Blayze/Nakano. The Taker v. Taker main event was... a thing, I guess. Yes, the actual match was whatever, but seeing the real Undertaker returning was admittedly a pretty damn cool sight. Leslie Nielson's skits were harmless fun, considering how incredibly goofy and cartoonish the whole freaking storyline was. A good show overall, but seriously, please turn it off after the real Undertaker makes his entrance."

[7.0] "I am rewatching all past Undertaker's matches that I have not seen yet for celebrate his retirement this past Sunday at Survivor Series after 30 Years of the greatest Carrear in the History of Sport Entertainment. I am a Big Undertaker Fan and I don't want to miss a Thing about the Deadman. So, I just watched Summerslam 1994 to watch his surreal battle against The Fake Undertaker and to watch the Steel Cage match beetween The Hart Brothers that received 5 stars by Meltzer, one of the first WWE Matches to receive that grade from the Wrestling Observer in History. I personally think that the Main Event between Taker and "Taker" is good, I love that kind of surreal out of time product about WWE I think represent very well what Sport entertainment it's all about... magic and larger than life characters. Many think that it was too catoonish and that it is true but I loved the whole Idea and the Finish with 3 Tombstones. The real problem about that match is that Fake Taker does not look like Real Taker (Mark Callaway). The Steel Cage Match between Owen and Bret is great and I think that the Storyline Beetween the two brothers was probably the best one of the mid 90's with the whole hart family at ring side. Meltzer gave to this match full 5 and to their WM X encounter 4 3/4 but I would rate the two matches the opposite. I don't enjoy the kind of stipulation that was the Cage Matches at the time winning only by escape from the Cage. The Superplex is one of the best and first OMG Spots ever in WWF (only Shawn plex from ladder at the time was better) but I think that their encounter at WrestleMania was way better because it was headlined by their incredible ability in the ring. This Year We saw the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" beetween Edge and Orton, if we should do a ranking of the best "wrestling clinics" in history of WWE the one at WM X would be at the top of the list. It's my opinion dear Dave ;) The rest of the Card is Good and Watchable."

[7.0] "IRS and Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Headshrinkers. This was supposed to be for the WWF Tag Titles, but The Shrinkers lost the titles the night before at a house show in Indianapolis to Diesel and Shawn. Not really much here, but no rest holds make me a happy reviewer. They played to their strengths with a power match, but just didn? t get enough time to do much of anything. The ending didn? t do either team any favours either. *1/2. Alundra Blayze vs. Bull Nakano. The title was inactive from 1990 until 1993 when it was brought back and won by Blayze in a tournament. Alundra gets the win, but Bull looked like a monster here. This was a very good match. Bull would win the title in November and hold the strap for 5 months, but dropped the strap back to Blayze and was fired when she was found with cocaine in her car. ***1/4. Diesel vs. Razor Ramon. Diesel won the title from Razor on an episode of Superstars in April, and this is the rematch. Obviously everyone knows the history and friendship between these guys, and generally a Clique match produces good results. As mentioned earlier Shawn and Diesel had just won the tag titles, and thus Diesel is a double champion. Good match between these two with some great booking. The crowd was jacked from the start, and Shawn played his role perfectly. Good stuff all around here. ***1/2. Lex Luger vs. Tatanka. The fact that even heel commentator Lawler is positive Luger sold out to DiBiase should have tipped everyone off that we were getting a swerve. The reaction to Luger is a little mixed as either some have bought into the angle, or fans were just sick of ? Made in the USA? Lex Luger. Thankfully this match has a decent angle around it as the match itself doesn? t look to promising. This was a bland match as it was all carried by the angle. Tatanka as a heel was a good idea in theory, but they didn? t follow up in the right way. Instead of a new character, he was just an angry Indian, and that wasn? t going to work in any significant way. Again the match was nothing, but the post match beat down was quite good. **. Mabel vs. Jeff Jarrett. This was horrible and felt a lot longer than 6 minutes. 1/2*. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart. This the old school blue bar steel cage, and also this match is escape rules. I know wrestlers said the blue bar cage was a bitch to work with, but I always enjoyed seeing it. It? s certainly a lot easier to climb than the mesh cage that is used today. Fantastic cage match with great heat. They used the escape only rules to perfection, and sucked everyone into the multiple false finishes. The only down spot was that it seemed like they were running out of things to do as they had to fill some time. Still, this was a great match and the post match angle only further enhanced this feud. ****1/2. The Undertaker vs. The Undertaker. Well, this was surely something. The WWE almost had it figured out here, but it would take a few more years until Kane was born. **."

[7.0] "Headshrinkers against IRS and Bambam have no big moment of impact, a superchute here and there, apart from the fact that I am not a big fan of matches that end by disqualification, note 5; Bull Nakano against Alundra is very good because it involves two of the greatest female wrestlers of all time, who at the time were already better than many of the men who were part of WWF / E at the time, note 7 for the match between the 2; Razor and Diesel show incredible chemistry when they go up to the ring together, in which case it couldn't be different. As much as the fight is sometimes boring and slow, it can be fun, in addition to Michaels being extremely bright outside, note 8; Owen and Bret should be mandatory for any fan of wrestling on the face of the earth; what match these two make, great dynamics in the cage and the family rivalry between the two only makes this fight even better; The various moments when one does not let the other leave increase the emotion and the ending is very original, being, therefore, a 9 note; Undertaker vs. Fake Undertaker has little to say; honestly the fight is really bad and slow, but the quick kick ups and the 3 tombstones of the Undertaker Real at the end are cool, note 5."

[7.0] "Summerslam 1994 features some worth watching highs and some abysmal lows. Bam Bam and IRS against the Headshrinkers kick off the summertime festivities with a surprisingly entertaining opener. From there, things get even better with a great match between Bull Nakano and Alundra Blayze which I highly recommend as it clocks in at just over 8 minutes and is an excellent wrestling match. Razor and Diesel is pretty good too despite neither being outstanding wrestlers while Shawn dramatises the action from ringside. From here we see a pair of pretty average to below average matches in Luger vs Tatanka and Mabel vs Jarrett. In my opinion Lex brings the action down a peg than usually expected out of the underrated Tatanka, although I do recommend checking out the entire segment as it features some interesting story telling and a fun twist. Mabel and Jarrett on the other hand is probably best skipped over although the audience in attendance seem to enjoy the shenanigans. It goes without saying that Owen and Bret should be checked out. This match is an iconic one in the grand scheme of Summerslam and WWE history. It culminates a long and winding story of family rivalry fantastically visualised in the pre match vignette. The pair have a dramatic battle sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Some may be surprised as I was to see that this match features much less of the wrestling Bret and Owen are more famously known for and instead adopts a more gritty and desperate tone not only adding to the heightened tension of the family rivalry but also the stakes of the coveted championship on the line. The show ends with a mind numbing clash between the Undertaker and the Underfaker, played by Brian Lee. This match is bad-slow, plodding and miserable. It even manages to shut up the otherwise hot crowd. Undertaker fans may be able to take something away from the pre-match spooks, but otherwise this is not the way the show should of ended."

In 94/95 women's wrestling was much better than now. Main event is awful. Howewer it's cool to see Undertaker's return so the show ended at positive note."

Alundra vs Nakano and Diesel vs Razor Ramon are two good fights, but not amazing. Undertaker vs Undertaker is highly disappointing, it wasn't acceptable as the main event. Still it's an event with many high points, I recommended it."
