[7.0] "It's a colorful show with matches that are short but mostly decent--though, man, did I struggle through the main event! The tournament's progression in Owens' favor wasn't without suspense; skillfully positioning the young Hart to follow in the footsteps of his dominant brother is a smart move. The freshness of the matchups is also appealing, as it never feels overdone. The tag team match thrives on its 'oversized' factor, though it didn't have the best build-up leading up to it. The match between the Hitman and Diesel is definitely a highlight--a pure war of attrition, topped off at the end with an intervention by the returning Neidhart that fits plausibly into the overall feel of the event, and which promptly leads to a turn. The show is a shining moment for Owen Hart; it comes across as solid throughout and only falls apart in the main event--but when it does, it really does."

[7.0] "Razor vs Bam Bam. This was basic stuff but nothing actually "bad". Also, I liked the finish, I thought it was well executed and creative. IRS/Mabel match was really bad and boring. Owen vs Tatanka was interesting. I see it got 3.5 stars but I thought it wasn't very good, for the most part because Tatanka just sucks. I'm sorry. i know people like him but he just isn't very good. Then, the surprise finish really didn't make sense. Tatanka was beating the fuck out of owen for the last 5 minutes of this match and Owen kicked out of everything only to pin him on a reversal without inflicting much damage previous to it. It was just not very good and annoying. Glad owen won, but maybe this should have been against Lex instead? Owen did a great job carrying him as much as he could though. Then xpac over JJ was actually a really good match it just was too short. Then JJ gets upset that he lost and decided to fucking break 123's neck afterwards, which was well done in my opinion. This might be my favorite JJ match that I ever watched which doesn't include an ironing board. Then there's Bret vs Diesel for some reason in the middle of the card? Bringing out the anvil was a great surprise and this match was exciting from start to finish. I will say this is diesel's best match so far of his career. He didn't do anything special but you don't really have to do much except not fuck things up when you're with Bret like this, plus all the shenanigans happening outside of the ring (and inside at the end). Really fun match and easily MOTN. Razor/IRS in the semi's for the KOTR and this was some text book shit. There was absolutely no way IRS was moving onto the finals, so the suspense factor was a non-factor for this one. 123 vs Owen was a great match too, but cut too short. It definitely was helped by xpac's neck possibly being broken and even the announcers not sure what was going to happen, meaning whether pac would come out or not to even fight. There were some cool spots in this one and ended up being my 2nd or 3rd favorite match of the night, probably tied with the previous xpac match. Next match was super unnecessary headshrinkers vs yoko and crush. I wonder if this was some kind of replacement match due to the steiners no longer being with them, or something happened to the quebecers? Weird nonsensical matchup that probably should have been deleted from the card in order to add more time to either of the 123 kid matches. Then the KOTR final comes in and it's a pretty good match before Anvil comes in and interferes againt except this time doesn't get caught by the ref. So, he comes in and helps one brother keep the title while helping the other brother win the KOTR? This is... interesting! ok! Owen's coronation was pretty well done and entertaining. Then there's everything between lawler and piper and I have to say I really enjoyed this. I am really not understanding how some of the commenters are questioning why this was the "main event" or headline. this is fucking roddy piper man, of course he should be the main event! And now it makes sense why they had the WWF title match earlier than the KOTR championship. They wanted Anvil to be Bret's surprise enforcer and it wouldn't have been a surprise if he came out to help Owen first, and join in the crowning event. So at the end of the day, the PPV was actually very good and made a ton of sense as far as the pacing and ordering of the matches went. Only thing I would have changed is get rid of the tag title match. I know crush ends up hanging around in the WWF for quite a bit after this, but at this point, both those guys are washed as fuck and having them fight for the title made very little sense. Also, the lawler/piper match dragged a little, but not by much."

[5.0] "My rating for King Of The Ring 1994 it's a 5/10. This event is low for me knowing this left the coronation of Owen Hart as pre-main event to put the King Lawler and Roddy Piper out of their prime as Main Event, and then It had good Matches, but when I see the best match was even less than 5 minutes, that's a red flag for me. 5/10"

[4.0] "The 1994 King of the Ring mainly gets by on everything involving the Harts. Bret's world title match against Diesel is a stellar bout, easily Diesel's best up to that point and a really gripping story told. Even the DQ finish made sense in the context of the night long story. Owen Hart's tournament were all very solid with The Rocket getting the rightful win with the help of the newly heel Jim Neidhart. The rest of the show was fairly shoddy with short tournament matches and a truly dreadful main event. If the KOTR final went on last, I might've been kinder to this show, but as it stands, it's yet another example of the WWF getting the New Gen wrong."

[5.0] "Talk about a mixed bag, and you'll get this show. The title match and all of Owen's matches are dynamite, while both IRS matches and the main event drop the ball a lot. To make matters worse, as has been established, Art Donovan's commentary comes close to killing the entire show. He probably has the smallest product knowledge of any guest commentator they've ever had and not one word he says during this broadcast adds anything to the show. There have been other bad guests, such as Cathy Lee Crosby at Wrestlemania 2 and other guests that were a great fit like Ray Combs at Survivor Series 1993, but Donovan has to be the worst there ever was in the WWF. Overall a solid card with a strong work rate, but too spotty to be a really special event."

[6.0] "A decent PPV with some solid stuff on the card. I liked the tournament, as it featured some good matches, with Owen Hart vs. The 1-2-3 Kid being the absolute highlight. Owen Hart winning the King of the Ring was the correct decision, and he was put over big time. 1-2-3 Kid and Razor Ramon had solid performances as well. Bret Hart & Diesel had an enjoyable WWF Title match with some nice storyline advancement, despite the DQ finish. I am not a fan of the main event, as Jerry Lawler and Roddy Piper should not be main eventing a PPV in this era. Also, Art Donovan's commentary is extremely annoying throughout the night and ruined the overall viewing experience for me, as he kept asking the weight of every wrestler, like that's literally the job of the ring announcer? With better commentary, and a good main event, I would have given this PPV a higher rating, but the show still served as a nice bridge between WrestleMania and SummerSlam."

[5.0] "A middling show with nothing that bad but it should've been better. Rzor/Bigelow is a solid enough opener decent pace and both are good wrestlers. Not much more than that (6/10) IRS/Mabel was a slog since Rotunda wasn't great as a heel at this stage and Mabel was never good, looking at the qualifiers made me wish we got Steiner/PCO instead (3/10) Owen/Tatanka is another fine match, of course the Harts are always among the highlights of thses New Generation era shows making almost anyone look decent (6/10) Kid/Jarrett was fairly entertaining specially the post match triple piledriver but it was way too short to really get going (5/10) Hart/Diesel was my match of the night great storytelling from Bret as always, a lot of good counters and Diesel looked like a big threat all the way, even the DQ finish felt alright (8/10) Razor/IRS is just as dull as their Rumble Match (4/10) Owen vs. the 1-2-3 Kid was incredibly fun, and probably the best match they could've had with les than 4 minutes (7/10) The Tag Title match was a big guy bout a bit sloppy but not bad (5/10) Owen/Razor was a solid match but way to short for a tournament final I think (6/10) Piper/Lawler was underwhelming and I don't get why it was the main event even with how much I love Roddy (4/10)"

[7.0] "This was a pretty good PPV in my book, with several underrated matches. I enjoyed the King of the Ring tournament and thought the story was both effective and well executed. While a fairly random main event, Piper vs Lawler was solid and better than the current rating indicates. Diesel vs Bret was the highlight of the show, and while it starts a bit unassumingly it surprisingly escalates to quite an exciting match and a very impressive outing. The entire show moves along at a fairly brisk pace thanks to a lot of shorter matches, so even the weaker matches aren't long enough to hurt the PPV much. A very entertaining show overall that did an effective job of progressing the key storylines at the time."

[6.0] "Good show with a wrong main event choice that wasn't bad in my opinion, but I wish that they ended it with Owen and Razor and gave them some more time instead. Nice tournament overall with some good matches - nothing here was a classic, but everyone did their job. Owen was the MVP of the show and had a second best match on the card with Tatanka, a decent quick bout with 1-2-3 Kid and a little underwhelming final, although him and Hall did what they could with the time they got. The best thing on this PPV was easily Bret vs Diesel which surprised me with how good it was as I didn't expect Nash to go this long and keep it interesting, but it was engaging to the last seconds. The Tag Team Title match was also alright and the main event, like I said, was good for what it was but I wasn't able to fully enjoy it as it didn't feel like a main event material. All in all the show was a good watch with Owen getting another huge push."

[7.0] "This was a very good and enjoyable show that nicely paves the way for the upcoming SummerSlam PPV in August. Owen becoming the King of Harts is the big highlight of the show, and the tournament itself as a whole is also a lot of fun to seek out. There's also a great Bret/Diesel title match in the middle of the card that unquestionably raises the PPV's quality by a wide margin. And honestly, I didn't even think Piper/Lawler was that bad, there's a great Southern-style vibe to it that I enjoyed, though I completely get it's not everyone's sweet spot. A recommended show overall."

The title match is legit great and a fair few of the tournament matches are decent with a few stinkers. Weird choice to headline with Piper/Lawler. I enjoyed myself as even if the match is crap the commentary is amazing."

[6.0] "Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Razor Ramon. Ramon defeated Kwang (Savio Vega) to qualify while Bam Bam defeated ? Sparky? Thurman Plugg (Hardcore Holly). And if those two names don? t tell you how bad things were on the undercard, nothing will. And if you want an example of booking autopilot, guess what the dark match for this PPV was ? yep, Kwang vs. Sparky Plugg. About what you? d expect from an opening round match. **. Irwin R. Shyster vs. Mabel. In the qualifier, IRS defeated Scott Steiner (who was on his way out anyway). Mabel defeated Quebecer Pierre. The match was about five minutes too long. 1/2*. Owen Hart vs. Tatanka. Owen defeated Doink (the inferior Ray Liachelli version), while Tatanka went over Crush. Very not bad. **1/4. Jeff Jarrett vs. The 1-2-3 Kid. The Kid beat Adam Bomb. Jarrett defeated Luger. The Kid was still in underdog mode, which means all his matches involve him getting his ass kicked for 3-4 minutes and then getting in a few fluke moves. Pretty good stuff for the time they had. **3/4. Bret Hart vs. Diesel. Bret? s old partner, Jim Neidhart, is his secret weapon to neutralize Shawn. Pretty big markout moment for me (and a lot of others, judging by the reaction). Diesel is the IC Champ at this point, but he? s looking to trade up. The match itself is probably in the three-and-a-half star range, but the overall storytelling ? from the build to this match and the ramifications of everything that happened here (which we? ll find out later) ? bump this up to something special. ****. Razor Ramon vs. IRS. These guys had been feuding off and on as a secondary feud to the one between Razor and Shawn Michaels. The WWF booking was very odd at this point (and much more interesting) because you had guys feuding with each other in the short term (like IRS and Razor, Bret/Diesel) while engaged in long-term feuds (Owen/Bret, Bret/Shawn, Razor/Shawn) that resurfaced every few months in some form or another. 1/2*. Owen Hart vs. The 1-2-3 Kid. There was intrigue over whether or not the Kid would even show, given the beating he took earlier. WAY too short. The work outclassed anything else on the show (including the title match), so of course these guys wouldn? t meet again in a significant match until 1998. As good as you can get in three-and-a-half minutes. ***1/2. The Headshrinkers vs. Yokozuna & Crush. The Headshrinkers turned face just after WrestleMania X and took on Captain Lou as their managerThe Headshrinkers looked okay, but the match was horribly sloppy, and it looked like they botched the finish. 3/4*. Razor Ramon vs. Owen Hart. Interesting note: Owen has not cheated to any real degree thus far. He doesn? t even cheat that much here early on. Instead, he just relies on being a prick to get heel heat. See, this is what we call a completely logical swerve, Vince Russo. *3/4. Roddy Piper vs. Jerry Lawler. Welcome to the WWF? s ? New Generation! ? It might have been at home a decade earlier in Memphis but in 1994 it was just sad."

The tournament was alright, you've got to be impressed with Owen Hart's performance here, particularly taking a scant few minutes with Sean Waltman and making magic out of it. The title match was good as well, crowd was RED HOT for it which helped. I even liked the main event pretty well, it was simple but effective and had a lot of great punching, which you don't see much anymore."

In addition, we got solid matches for the World and Tag Team Titles and an alright encounter between Lawler and the returning Piper. Not much to complain about on this one.
