[4.0] "Solid show, though a bit unremarkable. They have a decent roster of fairly unestablished names to the general puroresu crowd, but there is potential here as long as they book them carefully. Masayuki Kono & Shuji Kondo -vs- Tugutaka Sato & Shunsuke Sayama [* 1/2], NOSAWA Rongai & MAZADA & Ryuji Hijikata -vs- Kaz Hayashi & Jun Tonsho & Fuminori Abe [* 1/4], Jiro Kurosio & Koji Doi & Andy Wu -vs- Yusuke Kodama & Seigo Tachibana & Drunk Andy [* 3/4], Yuji Hino & Jake Omen -vs- Manabu Soya & Ganseki Tanaka [* 1/4] Soya has become a jobber to everybody. Takanori Ito (c) -vs- Daiki Inaba – (WRESTLE-1 Result Title) [**] Taking their experience into account, especially Ito’s, this match wasn’t bad, but it was lacking that smoothness to get that legit feel. Masayuki Mitomi & Rionne Fujiwara -vs- Hajime & Soma Sumeragi – (Loser Must Leave WRESTLE-1) [*] Seiki Yoshioka (c) -vs- Kenshin Chikano – (WRESTLE-1 Cruiserweight Title) [* 3/4], Shotaro Ashino (c) -vs- Kumagoro – (WRESTLE-1 Title) [** 3/4] Got to respect a main event which uses the good old Boston Crab as one of its main focuses. Two power-fighters trying to knock down and lock down each other based on their current techniques and their rookie background as they came out of the W-1 dojo together. Not the most climatic title bout, but these two are fairly new to the game, yet they look very capable in the ring and I hope they can build on that, hopefully make Wrestle-1 stronger in 2018."
[7.0] "My first W-1 show. A bland undercard of short matches but a few stand-out wrestlers. Abe was great with his high-flying. Kuroshio and Tachibana had some entertaining pose stand-offs while Wu and Kodama had nice aerial moves. Hino's power was the only stand-out in his otherwise boring match. Ito vs Inaba was the first title match and was fine. There was some awkward chemistry but it improved as the match progressed, and the pacing increased nicely alongside it. A bit long and too many boring segments though. **3/4. Sumeragi and Fujiwara looked quite good in their tag match. **1/2. Yoshioka vs Chikano was the first genuinely good match and I though it was very good in fact. Lots of great stiff kicks with strong technique. Sloppy at times but lots of impressively complex sequences at a rather quick pace. Yoshioka caught my eye since he added some flair to his kicks and general movement. ***3/4. Ashino vs Kumagoro was borderline great. I loved the backstory of them being from the same young lion class, which was referenced in the match with the many boston crab holds. Ashino was a very good heel, making all his legal and illegal strikes and holds feel important. Kumagoro was a great babyface, selling very well for Ashino and making himself a very sympathetic figure, especially when he managed to get his few big comebacks and would clobber Ashino. Ashino was very arrogant but would sell Kumagoro's big spots well. Many great sequences and a nice heel vs face structure. ***3/4-****"
[5.0] "Show that featured a completely unremarkable undercard, a horrendous semi-final Cruiserweight Title match (while I knew he had been back in the independent game for some years now, this was my first time seeing Chikano since 2009 – he oddly seems to be far worse now than he was then) and a great main event that really put over Kumagoro as a monster and legitimate contender for Ashino’s title."
