Gibson und Yano ist eine schöne Paarung, auch wenn der Heat für Gibson in der Konsequenz als Running Gag bald auch seinen Witz verloren hat. Typisches Comedy-Match der Herren, aber ohne irgendwie besonders aufzutrumpfen. Fast etwas müde. Romero und Bodom liefern dann das Gegenteil. Bringen gutes Tempo und solide Action in den Ring. Auch Big Lads Wrestling von Ishii und Mastiff funktioniert ordentlich. Smile und Despi müssen sich hinter den Junior Heavyweight-Kollegen einreihen, aber immer noch solide. Das Tag Match um LIJ und Nagata & Keith Lee bietet ordentliche Unterhaltung und deutet an, dass Naito/Lee wohl eine gute Paarung wäre. Immer, wenn sich Riddle und Suzuki einfach auf die Mütze geben, macht das hier richtig Spaß und wirkt wie ein echter Fight, aber dann kommt Despi dazu und es wird zäh. Nicht alle Sequenzen zünden, aber immer noch sehr ordentlich. (***½) Ospreay und Zack hier mit einem wirklich sehenswerten Match. Beide haben über die letzten 1-2 Jahre einiges dazu gelernt und liefern zu ihrer guten Chemie endlich eine plausible Geschichte und gute Psychologie. Pacing, Intensität und Dramatik runden diesen feinen Style Clash ab, der stark untermalt, wie gut die Chemie der Beiden ist. In Teilen dann zwar immer noch etwas künstlich und nur für’s Schaufenster, aber wirklich gut. (****½) Riddle hat’s auf ZSJ abgesehen und so endet ein guter RevPro-Event mit einer netten Match-Ankündigung. |

Apart from the main event, I though the undercard was a little bit below the first Global Wars 2017 show, but Sabre/Ospreay blows everything away! Chris Brookes & Travis Banks & Kid Lykos -vs- Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & Gedo [**], Toru Yano -vs- Zack Gibson [*], Josh Bodom -vs- Rocky Romero [** 1/4], Tomohiro Ishii -vs- Dave Mastiff [** 1/2] Better executed than Ishii’s match with Lee, but a little duller. Still a power clash worth watching, especially for Ishii fans! Ryan Smile -vs- El Desperado – (RevPro British Cruiserweight Title) [** 3/4] Desperado isn’t the most exceptional wrestler to come out of the New Japan dojo, but he does deliver at a strong level from time-to-time without getting too much praise for it. And this was one of those performances. Tetsuya Naito & BUSHI -vs- Yuji Nagata & Keith Lee [** 1/2] Fun watching Naito trying to handle Lee, but thankfully the New Japan is not on the Keith Lee bandwagon so much that they let the big man ruin their own guy’s reputation. Minoru Suzuki -vs- Matt Riddle [***] Yeah, fuck you, you Riddle druggy. Because you don’t have any self-control you’re robbing me of matches I want to see in New Japan. As you show here you can mix with the best submission specialists in Japan! Zack Sabre Jr. -vs- Will Ospreay – (RevPro British Title) [****] Technical brilliance against the flashiest flyer in the business…. SUPERB! Exactly what you imagine it to be! |

Von Riddle und Suzuki war ich leicht enttäuscht, da hätte ich mir mehr MMA Anleihen gewünscht. Der Rest war ordentlich bis gut. |

Nagata&Lee/LIJ: ***1/4. Good match. Naito & Bushi are a really good pair. Suzuki/Riddle: ****. Great match. Really hard hitting between 2 former Professional MMA fighters. The end was what it was. Still very fun. Ospreay/ZSJ: ****3/4. MOTYC. This felt special from the start and built to an incredible match. The finish was really well executed. Great show. |
