[5.0] "Borga's injury-related absence takes the edge off the opener, because instead of a rematch stemming from the events leading up to the '93 Series, what we get here is just a tame affair between two historically well-matched opponents. Barely okay--nothing more. The Harts, on the other hand, skillfully set the stage for future confrontations with the kind assistance of the Quebecers, before Razor secures a slightly hard-to-swallow mandatory victory. Here, too, the storyline involving HBK and the two belts is at least as significant as the match itself. The big title match with The Undertaker, Yokozuna, and all the aftermath was, is, and remains, in my opinion, total gimmick trash. The match of the night is actually the Rumble itself, which, despite a relatively weak field of participants, has a lot to offer. A dominant Diesel, Savage versus Crush, Doink & Bam Bam, the mind games with HBK & Nash, the reinforced Fuji Connection against Luger, and the red herring with the Hitman--this match conveys all of this incredibly well and ties together many small narrative threads in an impressive way. Even if the build-up to the climax isn't really executed in an outstanding way, the '94 Rumble often gets a much worse rap than it deserves. The midcard and undercard, however, with the exception of the Harts, are mostly lackluster to downright terrible."

The opener is better than it should be, the Rumble is basic but still engaging, the tag title match sets up the Wrestlemania 10 story perfectly, and Taker/Yoko is cheesy but magical fun. Razor/IRS is the only bad match on the card, and even that isn't unacceptable. Not quite a 'top of class' Rumble, but really consistent, and a lot of early 90's fun."

[7.0] "This isn't some all-time classic PPV, but honestly, there's nothing here that's straight-up bad either. The Royal Rumble match is fun to watch overall, especially with Diesel looking like an absolute monster for a big chunk of it. Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Lex Luger and a bunch of others all do their part and keep the match entertaining. The rest of the card is mostly just solid wrestling. The opener and the IC Title match are both fine and don't overstay their welcome. The Casket Match is definitely the most WTF part of the show and I get why people hate it because the ending is goofy as hell, but I can't lie, I still had fun watching it. The clear highlight of the whole night is Owen Hart turning on Bret after the great tag title match with The Quebeccers, which is way more memorable than most of the actual results. Overall, Royal Rumble 1994 is a pretty fun, easy watch from start to finish."

[3.0] "The only good match on this card was the harts vs quebecers. and it was a very good match. The ending and post match stuff is great too as owen is finally all in on feuding with bret. tbh this isn't good, it's great. The match was great. The angle was great. Everything else? wtf. First of all, why the fuck is tatanka fighting bam bam? Tatanka has an ongoing feud with borga. Is he injured? Dude wasn't even in the rumble. Maybe he was injured. Doesn't matter. The match wasn't very good. Match didn't make sense. Then there's the IC title match, which really was good up until the finish that made no fucking sense. Ref counts to 3 and bell doesn't ring? IRS even celebrates and the refs argue about whether the win should count or not. Refs re-starting a match after illegal interference pisses me off. Like, why would you re-start a match if someone used an illegal tool to win? The other guy most likely is concussed (kayfabe) and you're really doing him a disservice by restarting the match. If you want to say he lost by DQ then that makes sense. But re-start it? So dumb. Then Yokozuna vs Undertaker, again, started fine and scary. Seemed exciting. Then a bunch of guys who nobody even knew were aligned with yokozuna all jump in the ring and gang up on undertaker to help yokozuna win. Makes no sense and it's difficult even to consider this a wrestling match. The post match stuff is definitely something to observe and had me saying "wtf" quite a few times. This is the one where undertaker gets electrocuted in the coffin and then elevates above the stage afterwards. It's interesting at least and I'll admit it's pretty cool. But like, wtf? Then there's the rumble and jesus man wtf is going on here? They've been saving crush vs macho man for what, for this? They barely fight and then macho gets eliminated basically off-screen and unceremoniously . Brett and Owen don't fight each other at all, with Owen being eliminated extremely early. Then the wonky ending which is now the 3rd match IN A FUCKING ROW with a weird ending. wtf is up with WWF's obsession with doing everything in their power to avoid a regular ass pinfall in these major PPV's? I understand the need to protect guys but damn, I also understand that if I paid to go to this event and saw the final 3 matches, all with stupid fucking endings, I'd have left the stadium pissed. At least with WM9 the dumb ending leads to all the fans celebrating. Lex luger has been in the WWF for about a year now and it seems every match of his at a PPV has a fucked up ending. WTF are they doing? Fuck this show. 3 points for the excellent tag title match. Everything else is bullshit."

I don't understand the logic of having half of the roster beat up Undertaker when your WORLD CHAMPION is facing him, but whatever. Just about everything else was a five or six out of ten, nothing too crazy overall."

Match 1: 5/10 Match 2: 6/10 Match 3: 6/10 Match 4: 4/10 Match 5: 5/10 Overall Total: 5.20/10"

There's a lot of memorable stuff no matter what side of the wrestling fandom you belong to; cartoony stuff, great wrestling, star-making moments, amazing storylines, a noteworthy result in the rumble match, and Adam Bomb. Its appeal is finally understandable to me."

[7.0] "A pretty fun show if you enjoy the cartoonier elements. Bigelow and Tatanka had a solid opener with some agility on display short and sweet to get the crowd going (6/10) The Tag title match was my MOTN not only for the storytelling continuing to build the Bret/Owen feud and the heel turn, but also because its just a damn good tag team bout through and through. The Quebecquers were a great heel team to have a s foil for this (8/10) Razor vs. IRS is the only low point in my opinion, not being particularly bad but fairly dull (4/10) Yokozuna vs The Undertaker starts off like a fiarly good brawl with Taker moving fast and making use of the no dq stip early. The heels interfering to help Yoko win was a nice touch at first when it feels like a handicap match, it does become a little overkill by the end. Couple that with the post match segment and its a solid moment for campy fun even if it isn't amazing (6/10) The Rumble match was pretty good on its own as well, some really nice wrestling with the Steiners to start, Diesel's monsters run. Luger getting taken out backstage, a good final six and a memorable ending. The middle part slows down considerably so its not amazing but a good closer (7/10)"

[7.0] "A very good show with one of the most story driven Rumbles up to this point. The opener was the only not so good thing on the show and I think that changing places with this and the next match would be a better idea than stucking with this order, as the Tag Team Match itself was great and would wake the crowd up a little more. The feud between Bret and Owen officialy started and it was a clever way to set it up, plus I got to see Jacques's another fantastic display of the heel work. The next two matches were decent with IC match delivering a drama in the last minutes and the fake title change, while the WWF Championship bout was good for what it was, although I'd do without Undertaker getting sent to heavens. Then the main event was one of the better Rumbles I've seen with a few very good stories presented in it and the finish to the match was executed to the perfection. Finally the show that I've genuinely enjoyed, as the previous PPVs left the bad taste in my mouth."

[6.0] "The undercard on this one was pretty unremarkable other than the Bret vs. Owen build. The Hart Bros. vs. Quebecers match was quite good in and of itself and the finish and, subsequently, Owen kicking the leg out of Bret's leg was great setup for both the Rumble itself and their feud going into WrestleMania. Also somewhat notable was The Taker vs. Yoko match, which became by the end really more an angle than anything to write Taker off TV due to his injury, but I did like Yoko's acting (portraying that Taker was the one guy he was afraid of). The Rumble itself was solid enough, with a good showcase for Diesel in its first half, and if the Hart-Luger cowinners thing was not quite fully satisfying in the moment, it was at least something different and good build for things to come. I'm glad they haven't done that again since, but it was unique and memorable in its own right."

[7.0] "This was a very solid and enjoyable PPV for most part. The Royal Rumble match was quite good and one of the best rumbles from the 90s, and the winners were also ideal. Bret should have been the solo winner, but Luger winning wasn't so bad. The undercard also consisted of fun matches. The Quebecers vs. The Hart Brothers was a great match, and we saw great storyline development between Owen and Bret. Tatanka and Bam Bam Bigelow also had a fun opener. Razor Ramon vs. IRS for the Intercontinental Title was also solid. The only match I didn't like was the overbooked Casket match between Yokozuna and The Undertaker, which I found to be complete trash."

The Rumble was fun in spite of its obvious flaws with some great talents depicted, and the whole Bret/Owen saga was a big success as both a match and an angle. Nothing bad in the undercard either. And I actually enjoyed the Taker/Yoko casket schmoz as well, one of those things where it got so bad that it was good. Fun show overall."

[7.0] "Not a bad PPV at all this Royal Rumble 1994! Mostly from a Storyline evolution standpoint that will led to the big WrestleMania X event, one of the best WrestleManias ever and in my opinion the best WrestleMania of the 90s a ground breaking event with two insane matches that were born and evolved during this Royal Rumble 1994. First of all we have a solid opener between Tatanka and Bam Bam Bigelow, I loved mostly the ending where Bigelow missed a Moonsault from the top rope for then being pinned by a Crossbody from Tatanka. Great storyline between the Hart brothers in the Tag Team Championship match that will led to their outstanding match at WrestleMania X and, by the way, it is funny to see the nowdays known as PCO in the match as Pierre, a member of the Queebecers. The match between Razor Ramon and IRS is good and It was cool the Shawn Michaels's interfereance, but I did not understood the ending and how the referees came up reversing the decision for which IRS won the gold. The Casket match between Yokozuna and Undertaker was magnificent to say at least. It was not good from a Workrate point of view for sure, but if we speak of Storytelling it is fantastic. I personally am a huge Undertaker's fan, and I always thought that his post WM XX was the best, the one that got me in love with his character and I always thought that it was impossible for me to change my mind about it. Rewatching this first half of the 90s shows I personally got in love with the first Undertaker's version! I had already watched the match with Yoko before but I never saw the promos before the match with Paul Bearer and I thought they were scary as death and Undertaker was in his most terrifyng version ever. I loved the match, the story, the interfereances and Undertaker that lose the match, ascending to heaven, leaving the WWE for some months for then coming back at Summerslam in the Undertaker vs Fake Undertaker match. What really gave me goosebumps was the outstanding speech that Undertaker did inside the casket and the fact that the spirit of Undertaker "That lives in all mankind" escaped from the holy urn... Amazing storytelling and amazing character, in fact we are speaking of Undertaker... LOL. About the Royal Rumble itself, I loved the fact that it was fast paced, it really never became a gathering of brawl, we had fast eliminations as Diesel eliminated many opponents becoming in some points the only man in the ring. Also the ending, even if it was not one of the most epic ending full of adrenaline in the history of the Rumble, it was pretty good and it made a first and only time ever in which two competitors both won the Rumble. A weird and in some way illogical thing for sure ( a fact that WWE will never duplicate, think about the 2005 Rumble match) but that will led to that double title defense for Yokozuna at the Garden the next March for Mania X. What I personally did not like was Diesel's elimination! Much ado for nothing! Overall Rating: 7. 5."

[5.0] "Tatanka vs. Bam Bam Bigelow. Bam Bam is substituting for an injured Ludvig Borga who ended Tatanka? s two year undefeated streak. Bigelow looks weird clean shaven. I like Bigelow for many reasons; he? s big, agile and can wrestle well. Decent opening match; a little slow in the middle considering the one of the parties involved. Passable. **1/4. Quebecers vs. Hart Brothers. It is still weird seeing Raven as Johnny Polo and he was Polo BEFORE he was Raven. The match was very good but the post-match stuff makes it great. This heel turn kick started Owen? s WWF career for real. Owen has a point though; why DIDN? T he tag Bret? The post match was very good as well, and set up a Mania match that is remembered to this day. ****. Razor Ramon vs. Irwin R. Shyster. Jim Ross and Gorilla Monsoon switch off from WWF Radio to commentate this match. The story here is that IRS sequestered Razor? s gold chains as a tax collection. This was a painfully boring match with an equally dumb ending; it DID set up the ladder match at WrestleMania though. 3/4*. Yokozuna vs. Undertaker. The second Casket Match in the WWF, after Taker vs. Kamala at Survivor Series 1992. The match was not so great; Undertaker beating up ten men like it was nothing. The post-match stuff left me dumbfounded when I watched this live. Now I find it sort of a guilty pleasure to watch; it cracks me up. This is the most over-the-top thing the WWF has ever done with the Undertaker or anyone for that matter. *3/4. The Royal Rumble. They shortened the time limits to ninety seconds due to time constraints or Undertaker levitating too slowly, or something. The bulk of the Rumble was boring as the WWF was lacking in creativity and full of silly gimmicks; a lot of people hung around on the ropes did not help either. The ending was kind of silly but it was a first and it also set up the whole WWF title picture for WrestleMania X. **. Kind of a boring Rumble itself but a lot of important stuff happened here. Owen Hart finally turned on his brother and kick started his career. Undertaker died (for the FIRST time). Diesel immerged as a serious superstar. This was the first real controversial Royal Rumble finish involving Bret Hart and Lex Luger. Lots of WWF history was made here."

[7.0] "Good Rumble PPV, not great or something but a strong show that is surely better than all PPVs of 1993, maybe except KOTR. Tatanka vs Bam Bam and Ramon vs IRS are decent matches without any notable storylines. Tag titles match is of course mostly known because of great Owen's heel-turn however the match itself is enjoyable too. Taker vs Yoko is not really a bad match but the ending is one of the most overbooked things of all time, it doesn't even develop storylines in any way. Post match Taker stuff is great though. Rumble match is pretty good especially in comparing with last year's one. The best moment in it is probably Diesel's great performance. Ending however is senseless. Everybody already understood that Luger won't be a top star in WWF and I don't know why they didn't just give Bret a win."
