[5.0] "Keeps getting more obvious episode by episode why everyone says how shitty 93 was for the WWF. This wasn't simply wrestlemania 9 being shitty. Everything was so random. So Bret loses his title at WM9, then spends the rest of the year feuding with lawler? Luger comes in to be a heel, gets re-routed to american hero because hogan leaving, which makes sense, but then what are they doing with Luger? He is the last man standing at the survivor series, and he "beats" yoko in the title match at the end of summer slam. But then bret hart wins superstar of the year at this show, with luger being the runner up? lmao. They had this contract signing before luger and yoko's championship match, saying that luger would not get another one if he loses... but then it's literally never brought up again. Did that count as "losing" since he didn't win the belt? Nobody knows. Nobody followed up on it. I just don't understand what they're doing and I am 100% sure they had no real long term plans either at this point. I understand why they'd want to give bret the superstar of the year, but then why the fuck make luger the hero the night before and then have him give the award to bret? Seems like a sure fire way to kill Luger by the WWF, which I'm pretty sure they don't want to do. As far as the wrestling goes, everything was a squash except for the hall/diesel match which may be historically relevant for hall and diesel's first match against each other, but outside of that, nothing special. The best squash in my opinion was either the bam bam or the borga. Again I can't for the life of me understand why borga ends up being nothing at the end of the day. He seems pretty decent. Overall, this episode is triggering a bunch of stuff in my head and my gut feel is that this episode of Raw is the start of a reset. The continuing angles from survivor series into raw were: bret/owen fighting and shawn michaels/diesel vs xpac and razor. They're also shooting bret back into #1 face role and making it clear that Luger is #2. Since Raw is only 1 hour at this time, I wasn't expecting them to clean everything up from survivor series, but I thought we'd get more heat from the guys who fought in the main event at survivor series and the angles that could have come out of that. Instead we get only two matches with those guys. Steiners squash and borga squash. Nothing to elevate or accelerate any angles there, almost like survivor series never happened. My long standing opinion is that the Raw after a major PPV should be very promo heavy or matches that make sense coming out of the PPV. They did some promo stuff, and owen wearing bret's glasses as he came out for his match was good. but otherwise, we could have done without some of the squashes to fit in more promos or something storyline driven."

[6.0] "Not exactly the best follow-up to the Survivor Series, but still pretty good. The Steiners had an explosive and fun squash as always, Razor Ramon vs. Diesel was a decent match followed by an excellent angle to set up Shawn Michaels vs. The 1-2-3 Kid for next week, and the teases for Owen Hart's eventual heel turn continue. Bret Hart winning the 1993 Superstar of the Year award on this episode surely adds more salt to the wound. Negatives: Survivor Series has come & gone and Ludvig Borga continues to do nothing for me, and I wish the Bam Bam Bigelow/Doink feud had ended at the PPV."

"Baby Big Poppa Pump gets another squash victory. Watching Ludvig Borga's matches and I can't help but wish he stuck around longer in the WWF. He got pushed to the top right away and I think there were some fun feuds down the road for him."

This was really just putting things in place for the next set of storylines following Survivor Series. The squashes were pretty good this week for what they were (I might be alone but I think Bam Bam's was actually my favourite), but there probably wasn't really enough here to earn a higher grade."

[6.0] "A pretty solid episode and a good follow up to Survivor Series. Steiners had a good squash once again, so did Bam Bam. Bret Hart won the Superstar of the Year trophy which was good. We saw a storyline developing between Razor, 1-2-3 Kid, Shawn and Diesel. The Ludvig Borga squash was the only boring part of the show, but it was very short so not much of a problem."

[6.0] "Solid episode of RAW. Nothing outright bad. The Steiners had yet another amazingly brutal squash to the surprise of no one. Razor/Diesel was okay and continued the storyline between all four of the Kliqsters nicely. Really liked the slow build of Owen Hart, they didn't miss a single shot with him from late '93 to the summer of '94. Bret winning the Superstar of the Year trophy was... interesting to say the least."
