924.08.2017PUNQ6.0Only the main event counted… and it counted BIG TIME! The final of the Best of the Super Jr. 2017 delivered one of the best junior heavyweight matches of the year! Tetsuya Naito & SANADA & “King of Darkness” EVIL & Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI -vs- Satoshi Kojima & Juice Robinson & Ryusuke Taguchi & Ricochet & Dragon Lee [** 1/4] So many guys adding their flavor! Not an important match, but definitely an energy booster. Naito gets to look super strong downing Kojima. He had to, because after the match Hiroshi Tanahashi came out setting-up their IWGP Intercontinental Title match on June 11th. Kenny Omega & Marty Scurrl -vs- Kazuchika Okada & Gedo [* 3/4] Too much BS to take serious, but for a clowning match it had its moments. But honestly, this is not what you want to see when Okada/Omega clashes. KUSHIDA -vs- Will Ospreay – (Best of the Super Jr. – Final) [**** 1/2] I would have appreciated less gymnastics and a little more fighting, but for a spot-crazy Best of the Super Jr. finalé this was spectacular and inspired! A wonderful display of the current generation’s top flyers, with Ospreay being absolutely amazing at it. He’s young, and I do hope he develops his heavyweight game being less “Look at me! Look at me! ” in his mannerisms, but as a spot-artist he’s on top of the world at the moment! KUSHIDA, who I often find bland, stepped up looking world-class too. Special moment indeed!
1012.08.2017see base 2cubed8.0Very good final night for the Beat of the Super Jr. s . Aside from the excellent main event the LIJ vs. TJ match was great . Also the Tanahasi appearance and Liger send off where done well . Matches worth watching : Suzuki-gun (El Desperado, TAKA Michinoku & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask & Volador Jr. , BULLET CLUB (Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa & Yujiro Takahashi) vs. War Machine (Hanson & Raymond Rowe), ACH & David Finlay , CHAOS (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. Suzuki-gun (Minoru Suzuki & Taichi) , Dragon Lee, Juice Robinson, Ricochet, Ryusuke Taguchi & Satoshi Kojima vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, EVIL, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito) , BULLET CLUB (Kenny Omega & Marty Scurll) vs. CHAOS (Gedo & Kazuchika Okada) and my top match was KUSHIDA vs. Will Ospreay .

Ordentlicher Filler-Beigeschmack. (**1/2) Finale, oho! Und was für eines. Sehr starkes Match.

1609.06.2017jboyaquar7.0Sometimes a lack of space leads to odd bedfellows; within a quarter-mile square radius @ Yoyogi, environmentalists were celebrating Tokyo's eco-festival, wrestling fans were celebrating the climax of a solid tournament, and Britney Spears fans were celebrating Britney? ! Anyway, I arrived at Yoyogi #2 around 14:00 and saw that there were still tickets available in the 6500 & 8500 range. Last year in Sendai my entry ticket was 5000; at this rate NJPW will compete with PWG for ticket hikes. Unfortunately, my assigned seat was next to an exceptionally large man forcing me to roam the venue or sit in a row below next to a stiff yet sincere young native man. Unlike last year in which I was the sole foreigner, there were at least 15 gaijin. Some were Englishmen, most of whom were casual wrestling fans who were only attending as a token of friendship to their buddy who was celebrating his birthday. I also met the urbane Kiwi gent who we have typically seen in the past 12 months @ Korakuen shows sitting by himself front-row dressed in a suit; he's a banker-wanker. By showtime, the place was packed. Ironically, the greatest heat of the evening was Not the main but rather when Tana made an appearance post ten-man. Although the crowd was more behind the LIdJ leader, Tana came-off as fresh and vital making Sunday's denouncement all the more tantalizing. However, nothing is more enthralling than guessing who will be victorious @ Dominion's Main Event? During the semi-final I kept giving the evil-eye and antagonizing the 'wanna-be-cool' Japanese fans who were doing the 'hooo-hooo' of Scurll's theme. Remember, essentially the Japanese are people who enjoy following-along w/ what's hip/trendy/fresh, and I guess for them that would be party-Marty who I feel so clearly is not at the level of his new best pals of 'The Elite. ' Overall, good show yet Ishii/Kaato's timing was Very off. So I laughed when the pitbull immediately left after his match.
1707.06.2017allen jones8.0This was really a one match show but I guarantee that match delivers big time. The rest of the show was just a preview to the next big show in a week. It consisted on good matches, nothing bad but nothing great. The promo of Naito and Tanahashi was very good. The main event was an absolute stunner. Amazing match, with a crowd so hot for the two guys, that deliver their heart and fought with pride to win these tournament 4 3/4 Stars. By the way this was the best tournament of Jr. Heavyweight since the 90's. Maybe even better because back then you couldn't watch all matches.

2005.06.2017shiningwiz018.0A strong show that featured a lot of decent tag matches, but is raised by the phenomenal main event, which is without doubt one of the top 5 matches of the year. KUSHIDA and Ospreay produced a true modern classic: 1. Nagata & Lions vs. Nakanishi & Lions **3/4, 2. CHAOS vs. Makabe, Tenzan & Kawato ***, 3. Liger, Tiger & Volador Jr vs. Suzuki-gun **1/2, 4. War Machine & Finlay vs. Bullet Club **3/4, 5. Goto & YOSHI-HASHI vs. Suzuki & Taichi ***1/4, 6. Taguchi Japan vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon ****, 7. Okada & Gedo vs. Omega & Scurll ***1/4, 8. BOSJ 24 Final Match: KUSHIDA vs. Will Ospreay *****. The Dominion show on 6/11 should be incredible too.

2204.06.2017Willie Jones7.0Opener: **3/4. Fun. The current crop of lions are getting better. They're now at the point where there interactions with each other are really fun. SZG/Liger, Tiger Mask, Volador: **1/2. Fine. Volador was didn't have a spectacular tour. A bit disappointing. Taguchi Japan/LIJ 10 man: ***1/4. Good. A little too much comedy from Taguchi Japan. CHAOS/BC: ***1/2. Really good. Can;t wait for the WK 11 rematch. KUSHIDA/Ospreay: ****3/4. Easily one of the best matches of the year. Both guys were fantastic in this. Can't wait for Dominion. Good show.

Insgesamt zieht der ME die Show sehr hoch. (7. 03/10)
2603.06.2017Hunter Dunn8.0Fun show. Opening match was decent, pretty fun stuff **1/2. CHAOS vs Team Makabe was another decent match **1/2. SG vs Team Masks was fun **1/2. BC vs WM/ACH/Finlay was good, plenty of fun spots ***1/4. CHAOS vs SG was a good return from break ***1/4. LIJ vs Taguchi Japan was a super fun match. Great stuff ***3/4. Omega/Scurll vs Okada/Gedo was another great match that was a lot of fun ***3/4. Ospreay vs Kushida was fucking incredible and the best of their series ****3/4. Really fun show and easy watch
