1 | 31.12.2018 | Paul Allain | 6.0 | The scramble match was head-and-shoulders above every other one this year, an unending stream of impressive maneuvers by hungry young lions. The RPW Tag Team Title Match was surprising, very character-based and full of truly original spots and concepts, with the extra excitementofcrowning new champions made this a fantastic undercard match. Isaias/Kobe was decent with visible effort, if a full step under everything else before. Sadly, the second half would never recover that excitement, with Heather/Smooth being a boring drag with trite faux-hardcore crap that deflated the crowd entirely. The trios match was full of lewd comedy and didn't connect at all with me. Cobra/Daniel was much more grounded and impactful, adding some stakes to the show and much needed better wrestling quality. The main event was simply a spotshow match, full of gaga stalling in the first half and of rapid fire move trading towards the end, but surely an entertaining way to end the night. The show had awesome high points, some mediocre mid-points and an absolute stinker, which makes it a slightly above average show well-worth your time, but not the excellent crossover show that Freelance can sometimes provide. |
