130.04.2025DanielBryan19864.0Wrestlemania Anthology geiles Werkzeug.
228.04.2025StanleyMason3.0The show was kinda repetitive before the main event, going from the British guy to Gene Okerlund to the match pretty much consistently before Billy Martin was introduced. From a pure wrestling standpoint, there were great matches like US Express vs. Sheik & Volkoff, but then there were a good number of stinkers as well. This show has value mainly as a historical facet in the development of the largest North American wrestling promotion, moreso than as a showcase of great wrestling, as it established the then-WWF's use of star power to bring wrestling to the layman. [3.16/10 match score] FULL LIST OF MATCH RATINGS (DUD-*****): - The Executioner vs. Tito Santana= ** - King Kong Bundy vs. SD Jones = 3/4* - Matt Borne vs. Ricky Steamboat = *** - Brutus Beefcake vs. David Sammartino = **3/4 - Greg Valentine vs. Junkyard Dog (WWF Intercontinental Championship match) = 1/4* - The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff vs. The US Express (WWF Tag Team Championship match) = ***1/2 - Big John Studd vs. Andre the Giant (Career vs. $15k Bodyslam Challenge) = 1/2* - Leilani Kai vs. Wendi Richter (WWF Women's Championship match) = *1/2 - Paul Orndorff & Roddy Piper vs. Hulk Hogan & Mr. T = DUD
328.04.2025LAJest4.0An utterly mid, yet historic, show, the first WrestleMania is a wrestling show that is actually a celebrity showcase that has wrestling happening throughout. Every match ranges from bad to inoffensive as Vince McMahon desperately tries to relate to the casual audience. It's basically him saying "We have Cyndi Lauper, we have Muhammad Ali; they're mainstream and they're here..." There's no real reason to go back and watch this show, aside from the sole reason of saying you have. Again, it's not a bad show, but there is not a single match or segment I would ever recommend to anyone to go back and rewatch. Pros: Alfred Hayes seemed like he was on the verge of/actively shitting himself whenever he is on camera which was peak comedy, both Iron Sheik promos were awesome (dude was rad), the atmosphere feels big and important, Piper and JYD have "it", "Easy Lover" is a banger song, historically important and the reason wrestling is what it is today. Cons: Wrestling is utterly unmemorable, many MANY stiff promos, a heavy reliance on celebrities that dates the show.
423.04.2025KKeanel5.0Make or break show for Vince McMahon was a moderate success looking from 2025 hindsight, however 40 years ago it's reasonable to thing that it put wrestling on the national or even global wide awareness. Very structured show in convention of few minutes match and hype interview is not an eye-catchy conception anymore, however it didn't bother people back in the day.

715.04.2025niclasobrovac5.0The first Wrestlemania is heavily carried by the fact that its the first Wrestlemania. This is without a doubt an historic event that would shape and change the future of the industry, star studded at every corner. But once you take off the nostalgia glasses, there are some issues lying underneath the hype and roar of the crowd. The short and average opener between Tito Santana and The Executioner (4/10) is followed by a typical Squash match, which is followed by another short and average Singles match between Ricky Steamboat and Matt Borne (4/10). Brutus Beefcake vs David Sammartino served the purpose to get Bruno on the card, but goes on too long and has a bad finish (3/10). The IC Title match between Junkyard Dog and Greg Valentine was not only poor, but had an even worse finish, making the whole thing a waste of time (2/10). The Tag Team Title match is good and easily the show's best match from an in-ring perspective (5/10), which gets followed by a below average Andre The Giant match (3/10) and a just as sluggish Women's Title match (3/10). The Main Event is an entertainment spectacle and the highlight of the show like it should be, and manages to be great despite in-ring weaknesses (6/10). In today's vision, this is a card filled with a lot of average to genuinely bad matches, with only the Tag Team matches worth checking out. None the less, the energy of the crowd, especially in the Main Event, tells you just how electrifying this show felt at the time, and how important it would be for the next decades of professional wrestling. Solely in terms of in-ring action, this show is a 3/10 (Below average, not good). But in combination with the energy of the crowd and its ever lasting legacy, its a good and enjoyable show, which earns it a (5/10) rating.

1804.03.2025LFT816.0Far from the greatest in ring show ever but a damn novel show at that, this was meant to be a massive attraction and if it flopped, so does the WWF, alas it was a massive success and why we still get Manias to this very day. Tito Santana vs The Executioner (Buddy Rose) was a decent opener, Bundy vs SD Jones was a 24 second sqaush (shut up it wasn't 9 seconds), Steamboat vs Borne (the future Doink the Clown) was actually pretty good. Beefcake vs Samartino was bad and had a shitty finish, at least Bruno got a nice pop from the MSG crowd. MOTN honours goes to the tag title match. Andre vs Studd was about as good as you'd expect on paper, which is to say not very good though it had Andre slamming Studd, the women's title match was pure filler. And now the main event, Hogan and Mr T vs Piper and Orndorff. The main draw of the show, what Vince gambled his life on, a massive success yes but also a damn solid match as well. Overall, I'd recommend the show if you want to witness history unfold before your eyes.
1903.03.2025YB23.0
2002.03.2025TuffMerc7.0A situation where the sum is greater than its parts. Watching the matches individually in a vacuum probably isn't the best because as mentioned, the work rate wasn't quite there. However, given the showmanship, the history... it's worth it a watch, and it still holds up in the modern age in terms of its grandeur.
2127.02.2025ChristianCaged5.0The very first "WrestleMania" is a historic show, if not because of the quality of the card. It's quite interesting how different the presentation feels just two years later at WrestleMania III. At this point in time, WWF feels a lot like any other territory in the NWA, unlike the national sensation it would become when it started elevating the wrestlers' personae, introducing a wider array of gimmicks and generally becoming more colourful and slick in its production. The production value of this show is actually quite poor, with Lord Alfred Hayes awkwardly connecting different matches and promos together. As for the wrestling, this is quite a basic show. The best match is probably the main event between Hogan / Mr.T and Piper / Orndorff (***), which feels like a glimmer of the spectacle this show would quickly become. I also enjoyed Ricky Steamboat's performance against Matt Borne (**1/4) and the Tag Team Championship match between Sheik / Volkoff and the U.S. Express. Barry Windham looked like a real star in that bout. If the show rides off the back of its historical significance, that's okay. It lit the fuse that would become WWF's golden generation. My rating (5/10) is a balance between the quality of the card and its importance to the industry. It's also not a long show, so passes by fairly quickly.
2226.02.2025rvd2hbk5.0
2326.02.2025ElNiniOM5.0In the ring, the show is rather disappointing. There aren't even one or two good matches. Still, it's worth watching for its historical interest. It shows just how much the current debates on WWE/F could already have been made back then, as the show symbolizes the place taken by entertainment over the technical and sporting dimension. For although the matches were mediocre, it's undeniable that the presence of prestigious names, wrestlers or not, fired up the audience, as did the interventions and other controversies surrounding the matches. In-ring quality: 2.5/5. Non-match angles and segments: 0.5/3. Bonus/Malus: none. Total: 5/10. Show seen on WWE Network.

2912.02.2025HugoRoids4.0A classic that's worthy of it's legendary status and essentially created the modern day WWE. Not really that fun to watch though. Matches were poor and way too short and it's aged so horribly. The Tag matches are fine and Richter and Lauper was fun, but besides that there's no real reason to watch this other than novelty purposes.

3129.01.2025The Sandflan5.0A weak starting point for a now legendary event, Wrestlemania 1 leaves a lot to be desired with no match in particular standing out as great, the best part of the event in my opinion is the back and forth between commentators Jesse Ventura and Gorilla Monsoon who have great chemistry on the mic, the Steamboat match, Tag team title match & to an extent the main event are all passable but nothing special. Has some historical significance and fun commentary but isn't great on its own. 5/10

3511.01.2025RosVer6.0The most important wrestling show in all of history, without a shadow of a doubt. The inaugural WrestleMania presents a spectacle of entertainment like never before. The grand stage and the celebrities offer something fresh, a first for the time. Wrestling-wise, while the main matches serve as good attractions and the Main Event delivers in a satisfactory way, WrestleMania I flies at a pretty average attitude. A good balance between entertainment and wrestling, considering the style of the era. The Iron Sheik takes the MVP award in a series of generally good backstage interviews. On the commentary, it's the first of many great nights for legendary duo of Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura. MOTN goes to the Main Event. WrestleMania I walked so the rest could run.
3609.01.2025Kislozelje4.0The more I watch it, the more I realize how boring it was and dragged. Not that the wrestling was bad, just forgettable and norhing special. And guess back than the ones who became legends and went to better things weren't that big yet. Felt pretty much as undercard, even main event felt as undercard
3704.01.2025Your5Guy4.0The first ever Wrestlemania, if it was not for this event, the WWF/E would not be where it is right now, frankly, Wrestling as a whole would not be where it is right now, if it was not for the original Wrestlemania. However, watching the first ever Wrestlemania, you can feel that everything to do with it has come so far since the event. Most of the matches are mediocre at best, and awful at worst, the two exceptions were the tag team matches of the US Express vs The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff, as well as the main event of Hulk Hogan and Mr.t teaming up against Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper, while not mindblowing, or... that good by modern standards, are enjoyable compared to the rest of the card, the latter is now a very iconic match. Overall, the first ever Wrestlemania is nowadays an incredibly below average event, where none of the matches wre particularly memorable, and you get the feeling that the WWF didn't really know what they were doing, however, this is one of the most important events in wrestling history, it's historical value prevents it from being a forgettable mess, and Wrestlemania I crawled so the likes of Wrestlemanias X-7, XIX, XXX and XL, as well as all of wrestling, could sprint.
3802.01.2025TheDudeBrotherMan Mania 1 is not anything special in ring. By todays standards it's downright dreadful. The segments in between are awkward backstage interviews, and Alfred Hays bumbling through the simplest of transitions. At times this show was downright hard to watch. It is historically important, and it's positives for Wrestling history are countless. It was a success, and all that has to be taken into consideration for a final score. The main event at the very least delivered as well. My advice watch this show once and don't go back If you don't have to.
3929.12.2024Shainy6.0
4023.12.2024Espentv5.0This is a very historic and important event. Being the first WrestleMania and WWE's first PPV will not be the best show. I find this card stale and boring at times with bright spots being the tag team title match and Steamboat vs. Bourne. The main event is good for its time and it does feel like a big spectacle. In-ring quality was not good though. Overall it's just a very meh card nothing truly special.
4120.12.2024Willie 192005.0I give it a 5 because it was a nightmare to sit through but it was super important to the business so I have to give it at least a 5. The tag title match was the best on the card but the rest was nothing really good. Still a very important show, just not enjoyable for me personally.

The arrangement of the matches was excellent. We witnessed a memorable and historical mine event

5914.08.2024Suit Williams4.0A historically significant show doesnt necessarily make for a good show, as this was a show of the time. The WWF was never seen as the workrate promotion of the day, and this wasnt going to change any minds. However, there was a lot of pomp and circumstance, and it is incredibly significant historically. Im glad I can say I watched the whole thing, even if I wasnt the biggest fan of it. At just over two hours, I cant say it was any kind of slog either. If youre so inclined to check it out on a lazy weekend, I wouldnt stop you. MATCH OF THE NIGHT: Sheik & Volkoff vs. The US Express
6026.07.2024Obird1225.0In terms of an actual wrestling PPV, in the grand scheme of things this should rate lower than I am rating it. HOWEVER, this event completely changed the landscape of professional wrestling forever, especially in America. Having some of the biggest pop culture and sports icons be in the ring with wrestlings biggest names at the time in one of the biggest American arenas is undeniably historic for the industry.
6123.07.2024Pineapple3.0Match 1: 4/10 Match 2: 4/10 Match 3: 3/10 Match 4: 2/10 Match 5: 5/10 Match 6: 3/10 Match 7: 2/10 Match 8: 5/10 Total = 3.5/10
6218.07.2024SpecialAgentCooper5.0An important show, for obvious reasons, but not without its issues. While the technical problems were nowhere near the soon-to-occur trainwreck of WM2, we still had Lord Alfred Hayes introducing promos from the Gorilla Spot looking (and somehow sounding) like a deer in the headlights, often cut off before he was finished speaking. Wrestlers (Borne comes to mind) would occasionally wander into promo shots, just a terribly organized first go of a PPV in many ways. From a quality standpoint, there's really not much to write home about. My favorite match was honestly the women's match, which was rated pretty poorly by this community. Despite some sloppy throws, the match arguably had the best energy and booking of the whole night. There were two matches that had strong "moments": The Andre/Studd match and the main event spectacle, but neither were well-worked matches. Meanwhile, even two plus workers like Steamboat and Borne weren't given the time or booking to do anything compelling with their chance. It's just not a show that managed to get "excitement" AND "quality" into the same matches much, mostly one or the other.
6311.07.2024watts3.0
6401.07.2024Oste In my opinion a good wrestling show. Not a great match on the show but many good ones. My rating out of 10 would be 7.
6524.06.2024cjm5505063.0I tried to get myself lost in the spectacle of what this was or just look at it historically but this was a really bad card and it goes to show how well the star power paid off because the action was just out of your mind boring for the vast majority here. This is the real birth of the sports entertainment style and I'm glad that over time we get more action added into WWF's biggest event because I know these first two Wrestlemanias are gonna be rough in that aspect.
6622.06.2024HBK983.0Historic but not a great show at all. The best match is a 6 minute one for the Tag championships. Iconic chaotic main event
6709.06.2024NickJammer22216.0
6809.06.2024lgccs4.0Most of the matches here are completely forgettable, but even in those nothing matches there's usually a white-hot crowd and entertaining commentary to get you through it. The first WrestleMania is hardly about the wrestling and it shows. Attractions and moments were given the spotlight here, obviously the right move considering we're two months past the 40th incarnation of the event. The first-ever main event is an absolute chaotic mess but it feels every bit as blockbuster as it needed to be, as Piper, Hogan, and Orndorff wonderfully integrated Mr. T into the match and made him look plenty good. There's an inherent charm to this Mania that makes it tolerable, though it certainly isn't one that I'd rewatch any time soon.

7213.05.2024RealGrapsThomsen8.0It feels almost impossible to judge this. From a wrestling standpoint, this event isnt really anything special, but what the event represents is something else completely. The show in its entirety represents Vince McMahon betting on himself and taking a risk, leading to this big event. If it wasnt for this event, wrestling today would be completely different and nowhere near as mainstream as it is today.
7310.05.2024Rip Em5.0
7401.05.2024themountiefan5.0As the first Wrestlemania of all time, it's bound to be outdated, but it still fairs pretty well today. Nothing is amazing, but nothing is horrendous either. You have a hot opener, some midcard matches, and a great main event. It never really dragged on, and the layout was good. Both tag matches were easily the best of the card, but there were still other fun stuff like Andre-Studd, JYD-Valentine, and Richter-Kai. The presence of "jobbers" hurts the card, and easily could've been avoided if they featured people like The Magnificent Muraco or George Steele. Nonetheless, the crowd is hot and it's fun to look back at what was going on at the time. Overall, I think a fair rating is 5 out of 10. For individual matches, I'd give the opener 2.5 stars out of 5, Bundy-S.D 1.25 stars, Steamboat-Borne 2.25 stars, Beefcake-Sammartino 2 stars, IC Title match 2.25 stars, Tag Title match 3.25 stars, Andre-Studd 2 stars, Richter-Kai 1.5 stars, and the main event 3 stars. Overall, enjoyable show!

8630.03.2024Watirapture Impossible to judge by today's standards. The Main Event feud and match are the only things interesting.
8730.03.2024SebasDiazArgentina6.0As the first WrestleMania It was an okay event, knowing that Vince's destiny was on this event It needed to be a success and It was, talking about the matches it's totally different to today's wrestling, also gimmicks, etc. But it was an okay PPV for what it was back then, so I'll give It a 6/10
8826.03.2024parachutingparakeet4.0From humble beginnings... I'm trying to watch all the Manias that I haven't seen before Mania XL, not every match, just everyone one that interests me. Mean Gene sings the national anthem, made me chuckle, he's not so good. King Kong Bundy looks like a 450-pound baby, not a hair on that body haha. We're only 20 minutes into the show and we've already had 2 matches! Ricky Steamboat is in tremendous shape. Lord have mercy, I forgot about David Sammartino, I guess this is before the tap out thing? And Bruno can still work like crazy! Those punches were fantastic! Jimmy Hart looking like a hairy Ringo Starr! And what a cheer for a non-title win for the Junkyard Dog, what a time those days were. Is it just me but did body slams just look so much more devastating back then? And Jesus Shiekh breaking that cane over that poor bastard's head. He went backstage and looked like he just got out of the shower, sweaty style! Now Big John Studd vs Andre the Giant, I was really looking forward to this. I love the concept, it's so so simple, but it's such a relatable story. I love Big John, all that hair, all that hoss meat. And here comes Andre, big grin on his kisser, coming to the end of his career. This match proves you don't need 10 dives to make a match exciting. It so simple, you make the match all about the slam, so you're on the edge of your seat the whole time, just waiting for it. You catch a whiff on it and you're on your feet. They're chanting slam! When was the last time you heard something like that? And he gets it, and the people are screaming for Andre! Andres's throwing the money to the people! And here we go with something I've seen very little of, vintage women's wrestling. Leilani Kai sounds like a name you'd here on NXT and man does she not look great. Moolah looks awesome but fuck her. Richter and Lauper, million bucks. I love that it's really taken seriously. This isn't a bra and panties match, this is two ladies trying to break the other. The commentators really put it over too. And here we go, the main event. What a strange set up this is. And here's Muhammad Ali, a little bloated, nut still has that champions aura. I honestly have no idea why Bob Orton is there, I guess they needed another heel and face out there in case Mr T gets lost. Paul Orndorf, what a physique, he looks better than Hogan here. Mr T looks like a million bucks here. I feel that the Rhodes/Reigns main event for XL is going to be exactly like this, 10 people in the ring, crazy overbooking, and whole lotta fun. Honestly very boring, I'm sure if I was there live, I'd have way more fun. And what an insane finish haha! Really love the respect Mr T showed the wrestlers and the crowd, and the respect given to Muhammed Ali. A rather quaint show by today's standards, the mystique of mania wasn't their yet. Big John Studd vs Andre The Giant was my favorite match.

9020.03.2024JoKu23114.0This show right here is one of the most important events in Wrestling history. Still, judging by the pure match quality, this show was not good. No match on this card can be called a really good one - the Tag Title Match, Ricky Steamboat and the main event were decent matches to watch, but none of them live up to a good standard. Overall, the spectacle and the historic importance of Wrestlemania is what makes this one interesting to check out while the matches themselves feel like they actively try to stop you from watching at times with how painfully boring they are. As a true fan of the sport, you should have checked out this show but there is no reason to go back to it once youve seen it.

9402.03.2024Kung4.0
9629.02.2024zachattack20236.0This is obviously one of the most historic wrestling shows in history I don't think it holds up that well I wasn't alive when this show happened so I don't have a personal connection with it but it is a very important show the main event is pretty solid but it more about the spectacle rather than the matches.
9718.02.2024VileVirgil4.0A historic event without a doubt but a very dated one. Nonsense finishes, squash matches, and the general way wrestling worked at the time all hamper the quality of the show. 4/10.
9816.02.2024PapaTango5.0From a historical standpoint, the relevance of this event cannot be denied. Wrestling-wise, it is fair to partly cloudy. Andre v. Studd is enjoyable. Iron Shiek & Volkoff v. Rotundo & Windham is probably the best match on the card.

10012.02.2024edgyfr3.0This was not perfect, but it delivered. The first match worked perfectly as an opener, the tag match was fun and the main event as well, everything else was just a big filler that didn't move me in any way possible, the interviews and little segments were fine enough, and the crowd was absolutely energetic.
