Overall NXT TakeOver: Chicago 1 (2017) is such a really phenomenal show and another one of the best NXT shows ever."

Dunne vs Bate for the UK Championship stole the show, it was an amazing technical match that I pity for not being longer. I bet these two one day given the right time will put on a 5 or 5. 75 match. - ****3/4. Asuka vs Ember Moon vs Ruby Riot was solid - ***. Roode vs Itami for the NXT Championship was really good to watch - ****. The main event for the Tag Titles was awesome, DIY vs AOP was a great match as expected and Ciampa's heel turn in the end was amazing, he got real heel heat. - ****1/2 Overall a great show. 8. 7/10"

[6.0] "I rate by averaging out my overall match ratings to give an overall rating (few points may be added for anything extra special! ) Roderick Strong match – 7. 5/10 – Solid match with a great ending but nothing really special throughout match Pete Dunn match – 8/10 – Well worked match which picked up towards the end, a good blend of technical and highflying matchup. Asuka match – 2. 5/10 – Not a fan of womens wrestling, but was an ok match. Asuka winning was predictable and is getting boring now. Bobby Roode match – 3/10 – Quite a boring match (not a fan of Roode), but the ending was ok. The outcome was expected by quite annoying to see Hideo be passed over again. Authors of Pain match – 9. 5/10 – Excellent match from start to finish – MOTN – Once again the tag teams steal the show 1. 5 added extra for Ciampa heel turn"

Nxt title was surprising good. I didn't expect much, roode's work was good here unlike his usual borefest. Main event was excellent, told great story here, post match was off the chart."

[9.0] "As always, Takeover delivered and them some. Strong vs Young got things off to a nice start. Really fun bout which built more sympathy for Roddy which NXT has done a good job with. Crowd was generally excited to see him pull off the win. (***1/2) Dunne vs Bate is arguably WWE/NXT MOTY, don't have to explain much but it was that good. Simply put its a MUST WATCH. (****3/4) The Women's triple threat was solid but I feel people slightly overrate it. It was a nice little sprint but at no time did I feel Cross nor Riot would win which hurt it for me. (***) Roode vs Itami was great. Didn't feel as big time as other NXT Title matches but it delivered and Itami looked strong in defeat atleast. (****) Ladder match was crazy and was a hell of a conclusion to this feud with some great storytelling. DIY nearly killed themselves trying to outsmart AOP and AOP impressed once more in a match thats out of their element. (****1/4) Extra points for that shocking but well executed heel turn by Ciampa. Can't wait till he returns to start that feud."

No matter what they did no one was going to follow that . It was one of the better matches I have seen this year and both athletes where extremely impressive . Asuka remains in NXT for some unknown reason . It might be for the better because she is being used properly here and definitely will not be used properly on the A or B rosters . Itami looked good but was still a shell of his former greatness . Matches worth watching : all of them and my top match was Tyler Bate (c) vs. Pete Dunne ."

While there were no bad matches, two especially stood out - the Bate vs Dunne UK Title match was easily a Match of the Year candidate, while the main event ladder match for the Tag Title provided some great action along with a well-executed and surprising turn angle for Ciampa afterward. The rest was very good as well. Another must-see in the NXT canon."

Pete Dunne / Tyler Bate is a five star match, and the best WWE match of the year, hands down. The NXT Women's match was great but suffered due to following up the UK Championship match. Itami/Roode was a solid performance and probably the most exciting match Itami has had in NXT. The ladder match was fantastic and the aftermath was heartbreaking. Such a great show."

[8.0] "Yet again the NXT brand put-on the best professional wrestling product of all within the WWE universe. I'm not sure if the UK Championship is under the NXT umbrella but those guys were incredible partly because they didn't compete within the rhythm of the far majority of WWE matches. Unlike someone like Gargano who has easily adopted WWE patterned behaviorisms, like pausing between dramatic moments to facially convey an idea prior to its execution, Dunne/Bate went out and competed w/out really acknowledging the crowd and instead crammed all they had, physically/spiritually, to impress upon us that their new show on the WWE network is must-see TV. If only the guys on 205 live were allowed to compete at that level. With regards to the other matches, ever so hard-charging Roddy was awesome tonight as he believably took apart all three Sanity goofs in a 3 1/4 contest. I thought all three ladies' timing was a bit off so that and the fact that their match returned us, the audience, back to the rhythm of most WWE matches made the show take a slight dip in the middle. 2 1/2 Percy, Percy... wherefor art thou Percy? At least the dude is modest in that he's not trying to overwhelm the booth as we all know he's there for 'quota. ' A 4 star, 3 1/2 star, 3 1/3, 3 1/4 and 2 1/2 should probably equal an 8."

My favorite WWE match of the year thus far ****3/4. Asuka vs Riot vs Cross was a fine match to follow that classic ***1/4. Itami vs Roode was really great. The ending minutes to this match were great ****. DIY vs AoP was an awesome main event and ladder match. DIY can work great matches with anyone ****1/4. The worst match was the women's title match which suffered from an abrupt end and that was not even a bad match. Loved the selling during the Roode vs Itami match. The tag match was great although AoP as usual forgot to sell before the finish. The ending angle was phenomenal and highly emotional. Worth your 9. 99 subscription 10 times fold this show."

Dunne Vs Bate was fantastic. Second best NXT match ever. Women's match was pretty disappointing. A lot of sloppy work. Roode Vs Itami was a nice brawling match and ending was nice. Tag match was awesome and the after segment was one of the greatest turns in NXT. Very good show."

Jim Ross was terrible calling this match. Terrible. Match was fantastic nonetheless. Women's title match: ***1/4. About what I expected. Good, but nothing special. NXT title match: ***3/4. The fact that this didn't end the show speaks volumes. They didn't trust Itami, a weak challenger and Roode, a champion who isn't clicking like they thought he would. Match was pretty good, but not at the level of Takeover title match. Tag Title Ladder Match: ****. Great storytelling in this match. Post match was great too. Great show."

Dunne/Bates just put the UK Division and title on the map. This is the best match of the year so far, slightly better than Cena/Styles. Holy cow what a great wrestling show, its a shame the main roster cant learn from NXT and put together amazing shows like this"

The UK Championship match did more than steal the show, but also stealing the year as the WWE MOTY , ****3/4. [10.0] "Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young: 4/5 (****) - A very solid opening match, Roddy was insanely over, opened the match smart by taking out Dain and Wolfe, and was just awesome. Eric Young played the perfect heel, and seeing Strong use the End of Heartache was a mark out moment. Tyler Bate © vs. Pete Dunne: 5/5 (*****) - Simply put, one of the greatest matches I’ve ever watched live. Bate & Dunne are the goddamn future of wrestling. The story of the dominant babyface champion vs. the heel who beat everyone expect him was amazing, and they just put on a jaw droppingly great match. Bate hitting a spiral tap was one of the biggest shocks of the night. Asuka © vs. Nikki Cross vs. Ruby Riot: 3. 75/5 (*** ¾) - Another solid womens match, and I loved the finish, but it’s hard to get invested when Asuka always wins. Bobby Roode © vs. Hideo Itam: 4. 25/5 (**** ¼) - Bobby Roode is the best NXT Champ since Neville, and Itami was the perfect babyface challenger. Was an excellent match, and yet again showcased Bobby Roode as the smartest heel in wrestling. #DIY vs. The Authors Of Pain: 4. 5/5 (**** ½) - About damn time the tag titles main evented a Takeover. If it wasn’t for Bate/Dunne, this would have stolen the show. Just an absolutely brutal and intense ladder match, full of heart stopping spots. Oh, and Tomasso Ciampa is fucking dead to me."

[10.0] "Honestly, one of my favorite Takeover's top to bottom. EY/Strong was an excellent opener, carried by Strong's good offense and EY's awesome bumping. Dunne/Bate was a great action packed match, not my favorite of the night but I can see why people like it on that level. The women's match was also quite great and I think people are sleeping on the way the match worked on a deeper level than just being action, being chock full of great character work and telling a good story. Roode/Itami blew away my expectations, I kind of thought Kenta would never give a great WWE performance at this point but he pulled it out, and Roode, WOW, Roode was absolutely on fire here, the way he told the story of the match from start to finish, from his GTS dodges to his truly beautiful arm selling to that sweet, sweet rolling DDT finish, he was the man of the night in my opinion. This is definitely one to go out of your way to watch, awesome stuff. The finishing ladder match was a little clunky in execution but told a great emotional story, and the finish to the event is some 10/10 stuff. Just great, great Takeover."

[7.0] "Roddy/EY was a very solid opener - always good to see one of my favorites in Roderick Strong shine; I did think the match went a tad too long though (**3/4), Bate/Dunne was certainly very memorable - lots of big spots, I think the build to the big spotfest section of the match could've been better, but it still was a very good match overall (***1/2), the women's triple threat disappointed me greatly - Ruby Riot looked sloppy & the match had your usual triple threat tropes (**), Roode/Itami was phenomenal, a top tier MOTYC for WWE in 2017 - one of the best matches in NXT history (****3/4), the main event wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be, but it was still good (***) & the post-match angle w/ Ciampa turning on Gargano was excellent. Overall a good show - loved Roode/Itami, Bate/Dunne was very good & the ME was good."

Itami vs Roode was Great. Brutal Psycology. Tag Team Ladder Match was Great Too. I think DIY had a lot more to give, but the heel turn was super effective, Ciampa has the hatred of the crowd and Gargano is a natural Babyface."

Roddy vs Young was very good and the crowd was hot for Roddy, the finish with End of Heartache was a mark out moment for me and Roddy deserved his win(***3/4). Tyler Bate vs Pete Dunne was absolutely amazing, match of the year for WWE(****3/4). The Women's title match was just a filler, Asuka is so overrated, i'm sick of her reign now, hope Ember Moon take that title off her at Takeover Brooklyn III. The match was alright(***1/4). Roode vs Itami was a solid title match and the first time i have enjoyed any Roode's match and Itami's strong style was awesome, don't know why the hell the crowd didn't showed much appreciation, that match was amazing(****1/4). The Tag Ladder match was average with a hot crowd but the there were very low high spots that ladder matches are famous for, but the storytelling and ending was great(****)"

[9.0] "Another Takeover that delivered; NXT's one constant. Roddy vs EY was a really nice opener for something that was barely built; Strong overcoming the odds of Young and two big men while the crowd was into him was really cool, although EY didn't really add a lot (***1/4 to ***1/2). Bate vs Dunne didn't excite me on paper, but they proved me wrong and had a really awesome match; the story that the UK Tourney told wasn't there, and besides their battle for the title nothing replaced it, and that wasn't great, but the actual in-ring was SO exciting, fluid, and generally improved that it's pretty close regardless; I still feel in the minority for not calling it a MOTYC, but it was really, REALLY great (****1/4 to ****1/2) Asuka vs Ruby vs Cross was a satisfactory 3-Way that had some neat spots and had a story between Ruby & Cross built into the title reign of Asuka's story; this was hurt by Ember being hurt, since she's the one being built for the title, but it was still very good stuff (***1/2). Roode/Itami was the best performance out of Roode I've seen in a while, and had Hideo put in a damn good return performance to Takeover (although his #1 Contendership match was much better); the beginning minutes for a while weren't much and dragged, but the second half surpassed anything in either of those previous two Takeover main events with some great selling from both guys into a smart finishing sequence; G2S protected and Roode wounded in victory (***3/4). The main event was a great ladder match, but a FANTASTIC storytelling piece, and for that it's my MOTN: DIY vs AoP is already a tough matchup for the smaller faces, but the ways they told the big vs small story with the ladders, the way they set up the big moments, the incredible friendship showed by Gargano, and all the small details from the beginning through the post-match turn were INSANE; a stupendously well-executed story inside an above-average ladder match (****1/2)."

I really didn't like it. Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate ***** - Absoluteley amazing match , it had it all , great to see two young superstars having such a great chemistry. Match of the Year candidate for sure. Asuka vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Storm ** 3/4 - Pretty good women triple threat... but please stop pushing Asuka , she is really overrated , Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot did all the hard work, and the ending kinda sucks Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami *** 3/4 - Good match at least close to the end... the bad part is that was removed from Main Event and we all knew almost for sure that Bobby will retain. Anyway it was nice.. but below the one from Takeover Orlando Authors of Pain vs. DIY *** 1/4 Nice one but honestly i expected much more , probably if it wasn't a ladder match it would've been something better but I'm pleased anyway. It sucked that Tonny turned on Gargano I thought they will debut as a team in Main Roster.. but I won't include that in my rating. In conclusion , Pete Dunne vs. Tyler Bate was the greatest match of the night followed by Bobby Roode vs. Hideo Itami"

Women's Championship Match was fine, having to follow-up Bate vs. Dunne didn't help but the match was decent. NXT Championship Match was a great match of a different style to all the other matches this night. The main event had very dangerous moments but as a match was decent at best. The whole show was changing from good to very good to great, so overall I enjoyed the show! Except for the ending, that was absolutely disgusting. But man that foreshadowing, like everything was pointing out to this happening: theme, who was singing it, people in attendance, that's just top-notch stuff. Huge props for everyone involved."
