[7.0] "Pretty good show with only one match I would consider bad . Consistently good to very good matches otherwise . Nothing exceptional or a top level match you might expect from an Evolve show . Matches worth watching : Barrett Brown, Darby Allin & Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Ethan Page & The Gatekeepers (Blaster McMassive & Flex Rumblecrunch) , Laredo Kid vs. Tracy Williams , DUSTIN vs. Matt Riddle , Timothy Thatcher (w/Stokely Hathaway) (c) vs. Jeff Cobb , Chris Hero vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and my top match was ACH vs. Fred Yehi ."

[7.0] "Coming from San Antonio, on the day of the R Rumble, it's Hero's 'Farewell to the Indies' show. The opening segment features E Page doing what he does best - employing his beefy frame to bully. If Ethan displayed a drier wit, notched his obnoxiousness down a notch, I would actually enjoy his presence as wrestling needs heels who are actually unlikable. As it stands, it's the same boorish, loudmouth, uncool, 'All Ego' that I've seen enough of in AIW/AAW. But I guess Evolve, perhaps even indie wrestling, doesn't have alternatives. The subsequent six man along w/ 'shooter' babyface protector, ZSJ, was outrageous fun including daredevil Darby climbing and coffin-dropping a pole some 18 feet high. Keen way to start off the show. T Williams's 'Formicidae' background makes him a good choice to face the debuting Laredo Kid. It was fine but forgettable. The next tag features an assortment of folks who aren't over. Whereas Jaka/Dickinson come off as rather inhibitive & muted in Evolve, D Allin seems to have taken whatever face momentum J Kincaid had. Allin's the bigger daredevil, and it's not as if JK looks any less green, and lost/spot-wrestling instead of a more fluid entity (10 minutes in - to set up his sunset bomb to the floor) than Darby. Also, pre-show, JK's produced promo was weak; the production was fine but on-the-mic he lacked charisma and assuredness. I really enjoyed the match design and subsequent tension & physicality of Yehi/ACH. Chalk up another undercard-stealing 'hardcore' DUSTIN street fight as it went the ideal length and featured that 'tower of chairs' spot that has become the recent go-to in matches of this kind. Outside of the (I was incredulous) rolling gutwrenches, Cobb's selling of his left-arm and shoulder, and TT's persistence, was the highlight of the solid but unspectacular title match that was dedicated to a trainer of their's in NoCal, O John. The Hero/ZSJ contest and post-match pushed this gig into 'recommended' status. 6. 75"

[10.0] "Incredibly strong show from top to bottom as the independents say goodbye to Chris Hero for the second and likely final time. The 6-Man opener was really exciting, and was the first time I would say I'd "gotten" Ethan Page as a heel in EVOLVE; Darby is such a dynamic underdog that can get a crowd going crazy for him, plus Blaster McMassive was incredibly impressive here and I hope EVOLVE gives him a spotlight to show off even more of what he can do (***3/4). Hot Sauce vs Laredo Kid was a fun match that showed how versatile Tracy can be (***). Jaka & Dickinson vs Kincaid & Guevara was a very nice tag match with some great maneuvers and dynamics (***1/2). ACH vs Yehi was also a strong match that got very tense and had a nice finish (***1/2). Riddle vs DUSTIN was a brutal and surprisingly swift confrontation that was different from the rest of the show (***3/4). Cobb vs Thatcher was another very good match that showed the familiarity these two have with one another, with Thatcher working Cobb's arm (which was sold incredibly well) and using that to find a way to retain his title (***3/4). The main event had an incredible atmosphere, with its first half being such a unique structure and flow and the second being as strong as any other Hero/ZSJ match; this felt like something really final (****1/2). Hero's farewell promo was incredibly emotional and helped sum up each chapter of one of the best history books in wrestling that is still ongoing. One of the most consistent and quality wrestling shows of 2017 thus far."

[9.0] "Tremendous show, definitely the best of the weekend. The 6-Man Tag opener was a lot of fun, ZSJ was so awesome in it (***1/2), Laredo/Hot Sauce was a fun styles clash exhibition match (***), ACH/Yehi was really good, better than the matches both guys had the previous night at EVOLVE 76 (***1/2), DUSTIN/Riddle was great - balls to the walls no DQ action (****), Thatcher ain't exactly the hottest thing going in EVOLVE these days, but I really enjoyed his bout vs. Jeff Cobb (***1/2), and the main event, Hero's indy farewell match was tremendous (****1/2) & the post-match was genuinely emotional. Fantastic show."
