[5.0] "Nothing must-see, but it had it’s entertaining matches. Most of all Kenny Omega & Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson -vs- Hiroshi Tanahashi & Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian [***], the Bullet Club show off! And a blast it was! It seemed they wanted to go all night playing round with the New Japan ace-face, the ROH Champion and…. Kazarian, the most pointless guy in this party. For it was more a party than a serious battle. A pretty awesome party at that. Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe -vs- SANADA & “King of Darkness” EVIL -vs- Silas Young & Beer City Bruiser – (3-Way) [***] A bizarre 3-way, but so much fun! EVIL & SANADA entering the redneck world… that’s guarantee for killer moments! KUSHIDA -vs- Jay Lethal [** 1/2] New Japan’s KUSHIDA rising in ROH facing former champ Jay Lethal and looking impressive doing so. Cody -vs- Will Ospreay [** 3/4] Interesting match. Not super, but definitely worth wild with two of the most pushed guys on the indy circuit clashing. Cody, coming from the big leagues, has the edge of course, but this was a match where game plan comes nicely into play, and could turn into a interesting rivalry if they want it to. Hirooki Goto -vs- Shane Taylor [* 1/2] Goto had to struggle against this guy? I get that he’s big…. but it’s in all the wrong places. This should have been a 2 minute squash! Dalton Castle & Brandon & Brent -vs- Gedo & Rocky Romero & Baretta [* 1/4] the Boy, this was just too weird. Tetsuya Naito & BUSHI -vs- Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia [* 1/2]"

[5.0] "Typische random ROH/NJPW-House Show.

[6.0] "I skipped the Rebellion match because I don't remotely care about them and don't think 2017 MCMG could make me care. Goto vs Taylor was a good hoss fight with Shane showing some good stuff (***1/4). Castle & The Boys vs CHAOS was a fun trios match; Castle & Trent were the obvious stand-outs (***1/4). Bully/Page/Punishment was kind of plodding, but it's kind of neat to see that Bully can still get a crowd going; Martinez always surprises me with his agility (**3/4). Cody vs Ospreay was a good match that had a pretty hot crowd (***1/4). LIJ vs The Kingdom was just a match, I skipped some of it to be honest (**). Briscoes/LIJ/Silas&Bruiser was a fine match, the final minutes pulled it out of being average (***). KUSHIDA vs Lethal was a very nice bout that had a very good final stretch (***1/2). Tana & Addiction vs The Elite is every really long Elite trios match you've seen this year (or really any Bucks trios match); it's an entertaining match that's great for live crowds (especially here in Kenny's turf), but I just find myself seeing things I've seen everywhere else these guys have gone; I almost like other Elite matches I've seen less for the sake of them not being as unique at this point (***ish). A solid show, but only Lethal/KUSHIDA is really recommended unless you're really into Ospreay, Cody, or The Elite."

[7.0] "This annual tour is great for ROH as it produces their best crowds of the year, but as NJPW creeps closer to an American invasion, and as the novelty of seeing NJPW stars in a ROH ring fades, these shows diminish in prestige and interest. Thankfully the final two matches provided something different as longtime NJPW jobboy in ROH, KUSHIDA, picked up his biggest singles victory in an ROH ring & K Omega pinned the current ROH champion. (I remember an '09 ROH singles match in which Omega made Daniels work super-hard. ) It was an interesting denouncement, and might/should lead to nothing as one could argue the heat is on 05/12 challenger Cody for the distraction. Heat, that is, if CD was over as a face of which he's not. The match had its moments and certainly The Elite come-off as Big-time during their intros, but we've seen so many of these Bucks + tags for the past three years that it's no longer fresh. I hope Tana isn't put-off that he isn't received as big of a star as a Naito/Okada b/c as NJPW was entering the consciousness of the average though attentive fan (circa 2013, ) his days as an elite performer were numbered and by 2014 his descent was obvious. Sure, we can bullshit and call him 'Ace, ' but are you kidding me? ! The matches themselves weren't 'write-home, ' I had the final two at 3 1/3, but the show was well-portioned out. Shane/Goto was a decent undercard bout but Taylor doesn't have the classy poise of his former tag partner whereas Goto's potency too-often lies within his opponent's skill-level/aura. If ROH is serious about Punishment, he should get the first pinfall on Bully Ray. Cody/Ospreay was interesting in that the latter wants to be spectacular/steal-the-show whereas the former gets by on a professional medicore effort; it had a well-timed ending though. Taven's mic-work = tooth extraction. Vinny took a pretty-poor 'Destino. ' Lethal's lollygagging cost him against the scrappy Kushida whose victorious 'God's Last Gift' is no Tyler Black. 6. 5"

[7.0] "This was a good event. It's wonderful to see the stars of NJPW come to your town; a real treat in Toronto. Match of the night for me was Cody/Ospreay, though Kushida/Lethal was very good as well. The main event had it's share of spectacular moments but ultimately it was too comedic for my liking. I find the Elite often cross over the line of humour into goofy/ridiculous often. I realized at this show that I'm an old fart (not just because I'm with my two sons). Really the worst thing about the event was the crowd. Certainly they were loud and excited though when I was a child there were plenty of cards with loud excited fans. The difference back then was that the fans were excited about the action in the ring. Current fans are more excited about starting a stupid chant or convincing themselves (and their Twitter followers) that what they are seeing is awesome."
