The Taguchi Japan/LIJ ten man was a good showcase for everyone involved, the Jr Tag title match wasn? t my cup of tea but a normal Suzuki-gun type of match. Goto/Juice ***1/2 good match but nothing special. 3-way heavyweight tag *** just there , Yano did his thing. Okada/Suzuki ****1/4 Ok some of the submissions in this were a little exhausting, their was one extremely long leg lock that killed the momentum for me but after Okada got out the match picked up and ended really good"

Tag Team Title Match (***). ME sehr Stiff und Vorallem sehr Punch abhängig. Fazit: Match of the Night war aufjedenfall der Main Event.

Suzuki killt Okada in diesem modernen Klassiker.

[6.0] "Sapporo gets a B-level A-show to enjoy. Always good, but could have been better. At least they got something special with the IWGP Title bout. Kazuchika Okada (c) -vs- Minoru Suzuki – (IWGP Title) [*** 1/4] - The Suzuki bully-match. Goes too long, per usual, but Suzuki is a wonderful bully and it’s a joy watching him pull wrestlers apart with never-ending beat-downs. Even New Japan aces like Okada gets the feel his wrath, showing his fighting spirit staying in there with the dangerous veteran. Rocky Romero & Baretta -vs- Taka Michinoku & Taichi – (IWGP Junior Tag Title) [** 1/4] - Yeah, as expected, watching Taka & Taichi challenge for belts in 2017 New Japan did little for me. With Taka, it’s “seen it before”. and Taichi sucks the fun out of it. Romero & Baretta works hard to cover some of it up, but it only becomes a mild pleasure. Hirooki Goto -vs- Juice Robinson – (NEVER Openweight Title) [** 3/4] - Again fairly weak challenger, but Robinson did his best to get the match over resulting in it gradually growing interesting. Never the most exciting of title challenges, but it got better than it had the right to be at this point in Robinson’s career. Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii -vs- Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma -vs- Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. – (IWGP Tag Team Title; 3 Way Match) [** 1/2] - The foreigners brought the power, but it really was the goofy guy’s match. Entertaining with sneaky Yano all over it and Honma using his head. Got the crowd in a good mood."

Main was entertaining and they did what they had to do to keep Suzuki strong in the loss but almost a little over board . Juice looked good in his big match . Matches worth watching : Hirai Kawato & KUSHIDA vs. Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) , CHAOS (Gedo, Jado & Will Ospreay) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger, Katsuyori Shibata & Tiger Mask , Dragon Lee, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Manabu Nakanishi, Michael Elgin & Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, EVIL, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA & Tetsuya Naito) , Roppongi Vice (Beretta & Rocky Romero) (c) vs. Suzuki-gun (Taichi & TAKA Michinoku) , Hirooki Goto (c) vs. Juice Robinson , CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano) (c) vs. Great Bash Heel (Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma) vs. Killer Elite Squad (Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Lance Archer) and my top match was Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Minoru Suzuki ."

Not necessarily the most fast paced and exciting, but the storytelling and the ring psychology was really good. I wouldn't rank it as high as Meltzer, more of a 4, 25 for me, this is mostly due to the fact that I didn't feel like there were any near falls and at any point of the match, I didn't feel like Suzuki was going to win. Great storytelling though."

I had higher expectations for Junior Tag Team Match and I don't undestand why Taichi is so bad wrestler. But Robinson/Goto was very fun match, ex-CJ Parker making progress and this match is proof about that. 3 way for tag team titles was good. Main event was great, I understand the controversy with 15 minutes of torture performed by Suzuki on the Okada's leg but in my opinion this was good underline Suzuki gimmick of psycho."

[8.0] "This was a very good show, there were only two matches that were really good/great (Goto vs. Robinson and Okada vs. Suzuki). But those two matches are worth the price of admission. As always the undercard matches were fine but nothing special. The first of the real matche started with the ten man tag team match, it was a really fun match, Dragon Lee was the clear standout. Next was the junior tag team title match, it was pretty good, RPG Vice were great as always and TAKA and Taichi were very good in the match. The next match was surprise for me, going into the event and I thought Goto vs. Robinson was just going to be a near squash for Goto, but it was a really good back and forth match. Juice starting off the match with a fire that hasn't been brought out before. Then the action picked up into lots of reversals and big moves, overall a great match that made the event worth watching. The second to last match was a three way for the heavy weight tag team titles. It was a fine match that was a bit awkward at times but was a good match. The main event was Okada vs. Suzuki and it was a fucking awesome match. The first 30 minutes of this epic was shocking. No one had dominated Okada this much and I was totally convinced that Suzuki would win the match but then the last ten minuets of this match happened and it was one of the best underdog wins in wrestling. Okada looked like he had gone through hell and back just so he could get that final rainmaker and win it all. Overall good show."

[4.0] "It was an okay show. Most matches were very skippable aside from the 10 man tag, NEVER Openweight match and the main event. They killed the momentum of Suzuki-Gun by having them lose all 3 title matches, and made them look like chumps by comparison to CHAOS. The main event was a fantastic match, but having Okada come in with an injured knee and having Suzuki work it the entire match, it made him look unbeatable when he won in the end. If Minoru Suzuki can't beat him at when he's not at 100%, who can beat him? Having an unbeatable champion ruins the enjoyment of watching matches, since you know the result before it happens. I think the Osaka show will be the better of these."

[7.0] "Decent show on the whole with two standout matches. Solid undercard, sets up Osaka and the New Japan Cup really well. Junior Heavyweight tag match worked for what it was, especially because it means Desperado and Kanemaru are next in line for a title shot, but it wasn't anything special. Goto/Robinson stood out because it started out with Robinson attacking desperately before Goto resisted him - but it wasn't a squash, and the match went on for 10 more minutes. Juice has a ton of potential, and I seriously hope he wins either the NEVER or IC title soon. The three-way was probably the worst match on the show, mainly because of Honma, but it was still decent. Okada/Suzuki, though. Holy heck Okada/Suzuki. I thought Okada/Omega was the best match of the year so far, but this isn't too far behind. Suzuki destroys Okada's knee, but Okada doesn't give up, and he struggles through the pain to pin Suzuki after three Rainmakers and one cover. Incredible match. The rest of the show pales in comparison, though."
