[7.0] "Solid PPV but nothing too amazing. 8 person tag is just ok, I enjoyed Andrade vs Aleister and thought that was a great technical showcase for Andrade, triple threat elimination tag match is excellent but falls off once DIY gets eliminated, and it's very obvious that they go for just a bit too long after DIY's elimination. The Ember vs Asuka match is great, if a bit short, but with these two in the ring it's quite hard to have a bad match, it feels like it's about to hit another gear, but abruptly ends. The story is really what takes it above just very good, as Asuka has to become desperate, and resort to cheating to beat what is the bigger threat to her title reign yet. It's a shame Ember never got her big moment to beat Asuka, and honestly, her along with Swerve, Toni, and Mercedes are the only true "fumbles" in the past few years of WWE. There's not too much to say about Shinsuke vs Roode, the match is not very good; especially when they put on a much stronger match, a bit before this one. In a way, this is kind of a send off to 2014-2016 NXT, Shinsuke, The Revival, and #DIY were all defeated in what was all of their last Takeover matches, (excluding #DIY as their final match as a team happened at the next Takeover.) beautiful new titles being introduced, along with placing the building blocks for the future of NXT: Roderick Strong's second takeover thus far, Roode's victory, Aleister's debut, McIntyre's debut, Ember Moon as well were all set up at this event."

[6.0] "TakeOver: Orlando was a solid but unspectacular entry in the NXT TakeOver series. It had moments of quality, especially in the back half, but inconsistency across the card held it back from reaching the heights of past events. The first two matches were decent, nothing special. Things picked up with the Tag Team Triple Threat Elimination Match, which delivered both chaos and drama. The Women's Championship Match was the biggest letdown of the night. Despite a strong build, the match didn't live up to the hype. Thankfully, the main event helped the show end on a high note. While often overshadowed by other title matches in TakeOver history, this was a well-worked, methodical bout with strong psychology and ring presence from both veterans."

[6.0] "Not a great Takeover. The tag title match was great but fizzled out after DIY were eliminated. While the match between Roode and Nakamura worked in Texas, the one here was very dull. Ember/Asuka was pretty good but they would top it later in the year. The 8 man tag was solid and Almas/Black was OK."
Dragon Fighter wrote on 16.11.2017:
[7.0] "Quite good but not much memorable show. Tripe threat tag was definitely MOTN. Great storytelling, hot crowd. One of the best match in wwe in 2017 top 5 for sure. Asuka/Moon was very good, in border of great. Good story here where asuka underrated moon and she needed to cheat in order to retain her title. Roode/naka was total bore, a step down from their last match. First 2 matches were pretty good at best, but unspectacular. One of weaker takeover show."

[6.0] "Very decent event top to bottom, but just didn't capture me as much as past Takeover events. Mixed tag match was fine, 3*. Black v. Almas was fine, 3*. Triple Threat Tag was probably the biggest highlight, with the spots where #DIY and The Revival shared their finishers being probably my favorite moment of the night, 4*. The Women's title match was nothing great, there really isn't anyone in NXT on the same level as Asuka until Hojo/Io come over (and if Io does, I'm excited for that, ) I'm interested in seeing where they take Asuka with this streak. The match I'd probably give 3*. Roode v. Nakamura was also fine, he's up on Smackdown now, so it makes sense that he lost here, but they just need to let the man work his matches, I enjoyed so few Nakamura NXT matches, and this was going out with a bit of a whimper instead of a bang, 3. 5*. My ratings average out to 3. 3*, but I'm giving it a 6/10 overall, like I started with, this just didn't feel as important as past Takeovers, nor was it as enjoyable as the previous ones. NXT is starting to slide down a bit, and I'm honestly worried. Hopefully things pick up at the next event."

The Main Event was good too. Definitely the match of the night was the Triple Threat Match Elimination match. Simply Amazing"

The main event was pretty good, though IMO not as good as Roode and Nakamura's first match, and the rest was fine enough too. Perhaps not one of the all-time great TakeOver events, but a worthwhile watch nonetheless."

[7.0] "A solid show that I appreciated more after watching Mania. Opening match was just there, though I do always get a kick out of how over Tye Dillinger is (**). Aleister Black had a really strong debut, and his match was a cut above the usual "Indie Star Debuts And Wins Against Jobber In 5 Minutes" match that we always get on Takeovers (***). The tag match was outstanding, my favourite WWE match of the year so far, though the ending was a bit flat (****1/2). The women's match had the same problem I always have on Takeovers, in that the previous match was so good I couldn't focus here. Work was very good from what I saw (***1/2). Main event took a really long time to build, and while it still pales in comparison to almost any New Japan main event, it was Nakamura's best since his NXT debut (****1/4)."

[8.0] "Good show that delivered in some ways and didn't in others. Sanity vs Tye and his indie friends was a super hot opener where everybody shined; the overarching story of Tye vs EY shined through, but Dain, Ohno, Strong, Riot, Wolfe, and Cross all impressed (***3/4). Aleister's entrance was really cool. Black vs Almas was good, had some good and memorable spots and great strikes, but it didn't come together as anything special as a whole; the crowd atmosphere was totally off too, which is a shame, since maybe that was the key to make it really good (***1/4). The Elimination Tag Title match is hard to describe in this review so I'll wait for the inevitable matchguide page; from to bell to the first elimination is absolutely the best match of 2017, and the only misstep was not having the AoP/Revival section last only 90-120 seconds instead of 4 and a half minutes, but this was still an absolute classic much like most Revival title matches (****3/4). Asuka vs Ember Moon was really well put-together match that constituted the shift from dominant champion to cockiness to actual heel for Asuka; Ember looked the most legit of any of Asuka's opponents, and this leaves her in a good position to either challenge again or move on to something else (****). Nakamura vs Roode II had almost none of the good qualities of the first; Roode was a really good heel character, but nothing really worked otherwise. It didn't offend me, but I just didn't care; character work and the crowd liking both guys barely elevate it to average (**1/2). Deflated by a poor main event and a mediocre crowd for Black's debut, but the other 3 matches delivered hard."

Best WWE match so far for me Asuka vs. Ember Moon *** 1/4 Fun match, an overconfident Asuka vs. a never say never Ember Moon. Good finish. Bobby Roode vs. Shinsuke Nakamura *** 1/2 Bring back NJPW's Nakamura please."

My biggest complaint is that Asuka vs Moon should have received more time, but it the show was still fantastic"

[8.0] "The opener was hot and fit the card well. Tommy End(Black) had a good debut, he looked strong, he should be on the main roster once. The tag title match was an instant classic, MOTY candidate. The tag finishers between the members of DIY and Revival was a true Holy Shit moment. The women's match delivered, although I think it was a bit short and the finish wasn't the best. Finally the main event was a rather classical type of match, focusing on the leg of Nakamura. Both wrestlers were great, and it was a great way to send Nakamura to the main roster (hopefully). Must watch Show!"

[9.0] "Amazing event, with one of the best opener in TakeOver history, finally a spot for Kassius Ohno. The triple threat tag team match is insane, great stuff and a MOTY candidate, Ember Moon vs Asuka is incredible, it has been a while since there was another great women's match at NXT. Aleister Black had a strong debut but the crowd wasn't too interested. The main event maybe did not delivered too much, and it's the reason why for me it's not a 10 points event, but I have to say that both Nakamura and Roode are charismatic enough, too bad for a finisher out of nowhere. A must watch."

[7.0] "A good event but I was hoping for more. 8 man tag was pretty good, wanted more time for the women but Ohno is a definite upgrade over Jose. Did not care for the Black/Almas match, very athletic but really hollow with a lot of posturing yet somehow not much personality or anything very memorable. The crowd definitely checked out of that one as well. The tag title match had excellent action but I think is being given a pass on some serious storytelling holes, like the on-again off-again strategizing of the two smaller teams and a random table spot being included without explanation just to pop the crowd. The finish was also disappointing, once DIY was gone the ending was extremely obvious. Asuka/Ember was an excellent bout, both women impressed, and the title match was not as good as their first together but still pretty great in my book, a lot of smart stuff included in a run time that was probably more than a little overlong. All in all still dug the show, but I think this had potential to be much higher."

[6.0] "Opener ***1/4. Hot crowd. Hot match. Don't understand the Sanity push. TAFKA Tommy End (Aleister Black/Andrade Almas: *3/4. This was weird. Crowd was doing there own thing, which led them to chant obscenities as the match was finishing up. Black/s finish was unimpressive. If your whole offense is kicks, and then your finish is a regular kick, it's not gonna get over. Styles clash between the 2 for sure. Not a good match. Very strange. Tag Title match ****1/2. This was nearly ***** for the first 15 or so minutes. Once DIY got eliminated it got worse. Still fantastic. Women's match ***1/4. They've pretty much been building for Ember to beat Asuka for the belt for several months now. Asuka hasn't run out of steam yet so they i think they made the right decision. Match was good, but there will be a rematch where they can do better. Main Event ***1/2. Good match, very good even. Way too long though. Also near falls were not very convincing. I don't know when Roode turned into Randy Orton. This was not a great show. I just don;t believe you call it that. But it was pretty good."
Hunter Dunn wrote on 02.04.2017:
[9.0] "Really fun show. 8 man was a really fun and hot opener. Everyone looked great ***1/2. Black vs Almas was great and Black absolutely should be a face of NXT as he's too damned talented ***1/2. Tag title match was absolutely insane. I expected a good match, I didn't expect the greatness it was. Once DIY was eliminated it went downhill but was still enjoyable. Could've been a legit ****1/2+ but once DIY was gone a lot of the energy left so I'll say ****1/4. Asuka vs Moon was great, as good as expected. Moon was impressive and Asuka shined bright as always ***3/4. Roode vs Nakamura was another really great match by them. Started slow but built up well. Very methodical and heavy in ring psychology. Thought it was incredible and both guys gave great performances ****1/4. Overall really fun NXT show that was as good as expected"

The opener was awesome, loved seeing Roddy shine (***1/2), Black/Almas was good, really good showcase for Black & Almas looked good as well (***), the tag title match was absolutely epic, will be remembered as one of the best WWE matches of the year for sure (****1/2), Asuka/Ember was really good, loved Asuka's cocky character work (***3/4), Roode/Nakamura II was so damn boring, even worse than their first meeting (*)."

[7.0] "A good show, that could have been great with a strong main event. Opener was very fast paced, a lot of action, exactly what it needed to be (*** 1/4), Black/Almas was a very well worked match with a dead crowd (*** 1/4). Asuka/Ember was awesome, loved the story and the style was great, the best Asuka match in WWE so far (****). The 3 way match was really fucking great, loved the story and the callbacks, but last 3-4 minutes were just flat, that's why I can't go higher than **** 1/4. And the main event was just a massive disappointment, Bobby Roode fucking sucks, Nakamura is not motivated at all in NXT, this match stunk (**)."

Tommy was looking a little nervous but thats fine bcoz it was his debut infront of a huge crowd. The 3 way tag title match was the MOTN for sure. The phsycology was great and Revival and DIY looked great in defeat(****1/4). Asuka vs Ember Moon was good but ending was surprising, Asuka cheating to win which opens the door for a rematch. Bobby Roode vs Nakamura was better than their Previous match but still not a great match(****). Overall it was great show."

[10.0] "Sanity vs. Tye Dillinger, Ruby Riot, Roderick Strong, and Kassius Ohno (***) - Nice way to open the show , even it was pretty obvious that Sanity will win , they are a great faction , waiting for them to debut in Main Roster; Andrade Almas vs. Aleister Black (****) - Great match ! Aleister has a fabulous moveset and is very athletic , good chemistry between these two guys; Authors of Pain vs. DIY vs. The Revival (*****) - Well... The Revival & DIY recieved the second "5 Stars Match" award from me after their match at NXT Orlando... absolutely amazing... a great combination between power (AOP) , agility (DIY) , tehnique (The Revival)... everything seemed to be spontaneous, excelent work performed by all 6 wrestlers , for sure candidate at the "Match of the Year"; Asuka vs. Ember Moon (*** 1/4) - This match wasn't so "wow" but certainly better than every single match from Main Roster , Asuka continues her domination.... till when? Anyway was a good match; Bobby Roode vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (**** 1/2) - Nakamura is so good at selling moves... I didn't like that they started the match so late... used so many taunts at the begening , a feud like that should've start immediatly , except that was an awesome match and very exciting even it seemed a little bit with their first one in San Antonio."

[8.0] "The opening 8-Man Tag Team Match was so much fun, and it was awesome to see Ohno get such good reaction, this man deserves everything. Black has the potential to be a great character, match wasn't show-stealing as someone (like me) thought it would be, because crowd wasn't really into it (and some people, unfortunately, thought it would be a good idea to chant everything they had in mind to show it) and Almas seemed a little bit frustrated before the match that he would lose later on so probably didn't give his best this night, but it was a good debut for Aleister, his theme is dope. Tag Team Championship Match was picture perfect, I loved every second of it and the win of AoP was great, they looked like freaking monsters and the challengers looked awesome despite the loss. It probably will be there in talks with the greatest triple threats of single competition as one of the best triple threat matches of all time. New titles look cool, and who will finally beat AoP if one of the best couldn't? Well, the outcome of Women's Championship was unexpected, the match was good, though; Asuka cheated so maybe Moon will get her opportunity again and this time won't fail. The belt is beautiful. The main event was simply glorious. The show was awesome, I enjoyed it very, very much."
