They started out in the best way possible, as Goldberg vs Saturn was just incredible and it was easily both guys' best match up to this point. Then Chavo had his best performance yet against Dragon, who always delivers something solid, while Booker vs Benoit was an exciting back and forth. Hennig vs Bulldog unfortunately was a disappointment, but then Jericho got a pretty good match out of Iaukea and Scotty with Bagwell showed some decent chemistry against Rick and Luger. And then the pace just changed. La Parka vs Psicosis was an unnecessary addition to the card with nobody in the audience giving two shits about this bout, while Hogan & Nash vs Piper & Giant was a solid match in my opinion, but the aftermath was another overbooked nonsense. And to end it all Bischoff decided that having two similar matches was a great idea and as a result Savage vs Sting suffered from having to follow DDP vs Raven, who did the exact same brawl on the stage. Both contests were fine though, but nothing special. An alright show, but I had bigger expectations after such a great start. |

| 5 | 18.03.2024 | Burning V Sternness | 6.0 | The triple combo of the opening three matches is enough to prevent this from being a bad show overall, as all three matches were not only good but they were good in different ways, which also set up some enjoyable storyline advancement in all three cases. The rest of the card was so-so, with a lot of Thunder-level matches and a disappointing Main Event. The bat match was far more entertaining than you'd think it would be given the participants, although the actual wrestling was pretty bad for the most part. It was definitely one of those matches where the entertainment came from good crowd heat and storytelling more than it did for the actual wrestling itself, so I totally understand why some might hate it. Ultimately theres enough good stuff on here that the show is middling at worst, and I'd argue that the majority of the card is better than the WWF's Unforgiven show from the same month in 1998. The Main Event and the weak parts of the undercard drag it down a bit in order to make it a thumbs in the middle at best, and the ending left us with more nWo nonsense at the expense of WCW, when the promotion really needed to start pivoting away from it at this stage as it was starting to get stale. This show comes mildly recommended due to the strong three matches that open it and the fact the majority of the card is okay, but it's not like you need to go out of your way to watch it or anything. Maybe just watch the first three matches and call it a day? |

Ultimo Dragon beats Chavo further escalating the feud with his Uncle Eddie. Booker T and Benoit have yet another barn burner match. Prince Iaukea finally gets a title shot after picking up many wins on Thunder, nice to see a pay off to those wins even if he didn't win. Surprise luchador match was a nice treat. Lugar being involved in a the nWo storyline after a brief brake is nice to see. Raven and DDP stole the show with how crazy it got. The main event was a let down but I don't think it was horrible just generic. nWo civil war is in full swing by the end of the night. |

No surprise, the nWo stuff is involved in all the bad matches. I wanted to tear into that Hennig/Bulldog match but since it didn't go 5 minutes I wasn't able to in it's own comment section so let's do it here. That match was easily the worst Curt Hennig PPV match Hennig was ever involved in! Both guys were way past their glory days of 1991 and the stupid gimmick of Anvil and Rude being cuffed together, with Vincent interfering and the usual nWo beat down that followed, all for a feud that started between Hennig and Bret who wasn't even on the card tonight! It was pointless to have Anvil and Bulldog in this feud with Hennig and Rude because Bret Hart was contractually forbidden to appear on TV with the rest of the Harts. Some WWF bureaucracy BS to further screw with the Harts after they left the company. Just an atrocious match! Watch this show through one time if you haven't seen it yet, but if you are revisiting, just FF past the nWo matches. They all sucked! |

Opener was decent and was Goldberg's most streak-threatening to date, sloppy early spots and a dangerous-looking spot by Saturn ruin it though. US Heavyweight title match was MOTN, being a fun Hardcore brawl with a cool finish and an awkward debut of Horace Hogan, Main Event started similar to the previous match, but then slowed right down. The Steiner's face-off was left for another show evidently, Bulldog & Hennig had an absolutely awful match. The Bat-on-a-Pole match really undelivered and was pretty unsafe looking seeing them try to climb this ridiculously tall pole. Even so, the crowd reacted the loudest for this match compared to everything else on the show, WCW fans were strange with what they liked at this point. |

The nWo storyline is taking a reaaaally long time to develop, but it's getting to it and it's getting interesting. Goldberg has a surprisingly good match in the opener against Saturn. Ultimo and Chago both look great following that up, and the Guerreros' arguing is great, loving Eddie's performance alongside the ring. I kinda prefer the Booker T/Benoit matches that hit the time limit, but that doesn't mean their bout was a bad one. Jericho is great on the mic, as always, and while Iaukea is solid in the ring I really don't feel this match got built up properly, cus Iaukea doesn't feel like a valid title contender. The crowd couldn't care less about Psychosis and La Parka, even though they had a fantastic match, as you'd expect. Raven and DDP had a fantastic match, iiif you're into the kind of back alley brawl the match becomes. They spend most of the match out of the ring, but it's extremely entertaining. The rest of the matches are tame. Bat Match is a terrible gimmick and the match was awful. The main event had two really old men who shouldn't be in the ring fighting it out, with Hogan unsurprisingly trying to keep Savage from winning the title. |

Das Fundament für eine passable Qualität legen die altbekannten Akteure in Form von engagiert arbeitenden Midcardern. Allen voran Benoit und Booker lösen das sehr anständig, aber auch Chavo und Ultimo Dragon sind da mehr als solide unterwegs. Viel verkehrt macht man selbst mit dem fortgesetzten Push Goldbergs nicht, und auch die eher unwichtigen Matches im Mitteldrittel sind noch so halbwegs zu ertragen, namentlich der Sieg Psychosis und der Titelverlust von DDP. Als Enttäuschung betrachte ich eher das Match von Jericho und das Gekrampfe mit den Steiners, ganz schlimm ist sogar das Match zwischen Bulldog und Hennig, was in der WWF noch Showstealer-Format gehabt hätte. Die Nummer mit dem Baseballschläger ist ebenfalls nicht so prall, was den für mich komplett unverständlichen Titelverlust Stings in einem verletzungsbedingt wirklich schwachen Main-Event einleitet. Die nWo nimmt natürlich einigen Drall mit aus diesem PPV, was den Eindruck etwas besser gestaltet, als man in der genaueren Matchbetrachtung meinen könnte. Knapp aufgerundet auf sechs Punkte, weil hier endlich mal was passiert - nämlich eine offene Konfrontation innerhalb der nWo, die Konsequenzen haben wird. |

Luger & Steiner gegen nWo war Mist. Hätte man auch bei Nitro bringen können. Luger musste woll auf die Card. (1 1/4*) 7. Psychosis gegen La Parka war solide. (3*) 8. nWo gegen Piper & den Giant war schwach. Und ewig geht die Piper Hogan Fehde. Inzwischen habe ich schon genug davon. Match war auch nicht gut und gegen Schluss das typische nWo Booking. (1*) 9. Raven gegen DDP war das MotN. Siehe Guide. (4*) 10. ME war dann eine Frechheit. Eigentlich auf dem Papier ein Dream Match. Den ganzen Abend wird über die No DQ Stip gequasselt und wie brutal das werden wird. Die Realität sieht dann anders aus. Das Match ist zu kurz. Gegen Ende wieder dieser Booking Mist. Dieser Sting Run war zum Vergessen. (1 1/2*) Die Show begann ordentlich doch leider flachte sie ab. Mit DDP gegen Raven gab es doch noch ein wirklich gutes Match. Aber das entschädigt auch nicht für den Booking Mist. Zudem enttäuschen Hennig und der Bulldog komplett. |

Chavo/Ultimo ups the stake in a great match heavily influenced by Eddie doing awesome heel work at ringside. What follows is the match of the night, a fantastic bout between Benoit and Booker T, they pull out all the stops and put on a great show together. Things slow down with a Hennig/Bulldog match which isn't bad but isn't really good either, a muddled affair that ends up with Hennig and Rude doing an overly long beatdown on Davey. Jericho/Iaukea is a decent match, Jericho's pre match promo is awesome though, he has completely nailed his character in '98 even if his wrestling is still catching up. The Steiner tag is another decent match, chaotic but fairly logical relatively speaking. Parka/Psychosis is a good little lucha bout, but then the event falls off a cliff. The Bat on a Pole match is one of the worst matches I have seen. If you ever wanted to see Big Show repeatedly spank Hulk Hogan on his bare ass, this is the match for you. Just a horrible match which should be watched by no one. DDP/Raven bring the show back on track with a super fun brawl, and Savage/Sting ends the show on a meh note, not as bad as some WCW main events but with some really stupid nWo breakup booking. But Liz did take a bump, which shocked me. Savage is champ, but not for long. |

| 32 | 11.10.2016 | colonel | 7.0 | Endlich mal wieder ein guter WCW-Event bei dem die positiven Sachen überwiegen. Die Cruiserweight Matches waren allesamt ordentlich. Hier wurde mal wieder gezeigt, dass diese Division das Rückgrat der Promotion ist. Ohne sie sähe Qualitätsmäßig ganz düster bei der WCW aus. Auch das Ravens Rules Match war gut. Das Ende war zwar overbooked, aber das ist bei einem No DQ-Match nicht ungewöhnlich. Etwas unglücklich war es direkt den Main Event als No DQ-Match zu zeigen. So konnten Sting und Savage eigentlich nichts zeigen was es 10 Minuten vorher nicht auch zu sehen gab. Sich über den Booking-Crap im Main Event aufzuregen habe ich schon lange aufgegeben. Die drei Lowlights des Abends liefert wie immer die nWo ab. Henning vs Bulldog war für die beiden Kontrahenten echt schwach. Gleiches gilt für das Tag Team Match der beiden Steiner Brothers. Hier qwurde lediglich die Story mehr schlecht als recht weitererzählt. Und das Basball Bat on a Pole Match war echt übel. Ich würde mal sagen irgendwas zwischen 0-2 Punkten. Aber wenn man die drei Matches vorspult erhält man eine durchaus gute Show, die unterhaltsam ist. |

Das Match selbst war nicht schlecht, aber am Ende wieder typisches WCW-Overbooking und ein WCW Main Event durfte damals wohl nicht clean enden: Refbump, Eingriff von Miss Elizabeth, Foreign Object-Einsatz, Bump von ihr, mehrere Eingriffe von außerhalb, habe ich etwas vergessen? |

Insbesondere beim Main Event wird das deutlich. Den Macho Man in dem körperlichen Zustand in den Ring zu stecken grenzt ja quasi schon an Körperverletzung. Zwar holen Sting und Savage aus der Situation wohl noch das beste raus, aber wirklich gut ist auch was anderes. Insgesamt geb ich dem gesamten Event 6 Punkte. |

Goldberg bewies, daß er mit einem guten Gegner auch zu dem Zeitpunkt schon mehr konnte als nur Spear Tackle und Jackhammer. Was sich jedoch negativ durch den ganzen Event zog, ist die Tatsache, daß sich kaum ein Match nur auf das Wrestling an sich konzentrierte. Eines der wenigen war das belanglose (aber starke) Aufeinandertreffen zwischen La Parka und Psychosis. Gerade die WCW/nWo-Geschichte sorgte dafür, daß so gut wie jedes Match kontrovers enden mußte. Dazu noch das unsaubere Finish bei Booker und Benoit sowie die andauernden Eingriffe des Flocks, und schon wußte man, daß die Fehden eher weitergingen bzw. starteten statt PPV-gerecht zu einem Ende zu gehen. Dennoch war die Veranstaltung alles andere als von schlechten Eltern und bot ein in seiner Gesamtheit ordentliches Produkt. |
