[9.0] "Some of the best shootstyle you'll see today. Starr vs Gunns was really neat in that it got across a face/heel dynamic better than the rest of the tournament, with a finish that shows Bobby's legitimacy but also his dirty tactics; pulling Starr's finger in an armbar is very dickish (***1/4). Cobb vs WALTER was some BIG BOY GRAPPLING with a larger-than-life feel; Cobb's strength feels SO legit, even throwing around the massive Austrian, and the deadlift powerbomb into the finish was sublime; perhaps the best match under 3 minutes you'll see in 2017 (***3/4). Thatcher vs Al-Ani was another pretty good one that showed Al-Ani can hold his own in this environment, but got outclassed in the end; this going the longest of the first round matches helped solidify that (***). Riddle vs Speedball was full of so much legit striking and some really cool matwork; Riddle sold the one kick to the head that landed like it almost felled him entirely, and the finish with Bailey's exposed ankle being torqued by Riddle's legs was brilliant; this and Cobb/WALTER are triumphs of sub-5 minute shootstyle (***3/4). Gunns teasing Riddle with some slaps, then getting grounded and tapped within a minute was perfect; the best-executed a 1-minute match could be (***). Cobb vs Thatcher was a bunch of really beautiful matwork that escalated well, and you can see on Thatcher's face how into it he is; the finish with Tim using Cobb's monstrous strength to catch him off guard is excellent (***1/2). Riddle vs Thatcher seemed a bit off in the first half, but they really started getting somewhere later on; the finish with the teased KO into the actual KO was really, REALLY good (***1/4). This show came together as much more than the sum of its parts. You can watch it in under and hour and get 7 good to great short matches in a very well-booked tournament."

[10.0] "I love Ambition ! Best shoot style tournament today. Every year's edition is fun but this one was probably the best. Cobb vs Walter, Thatcher vs Cobb and of course Riddle vs Thatcher, were my top picks. Great grappling ! I hope we see more shoot style tournaments/matches in the future."

[6.0] "This was a pretty good, easy to sit through show. Starr/Gunns was my favorite match on the show, really liked how there was a great sense of urgency to it from start to finish (***1/4), Cobb/WALTER was a very effective sub-3 minute match up - the big lads just clobbered each other with those strikes & then wrestled the crap outta each other (**3/4), Marius/Thatcher was a match that got better & better as it went on, by the finish it was a good one (***), Riddle/Speedball was also good - I actually enjoyed it more than their 16 Carat Tournament match up (***), Gunns/Riddle gets No Rating because of how quickly it was over, Cobb/Thatcher was pretty good - started off light, but as it went on the urgency kept raising and I started to dig it quite a bit (**3/4), the main event was actually real disappointing - I really wanted to like it more than I did. Thatcher & Riddle had a pretty good, solid match, but I really wanted to like it even more because they are 2 of my favorites going today - still solid though (**1/2). Overall a pretty fun show, really no truly weak matches. Definitely worth the watch if you got some time to kill."
