[3.0] "For a Pay-Per-View this had very little star power. I had just watched from the start of 1996, and there were a lot of wrestlers I did not remember. There were too many matches which lead to VERY short matches.. A few good ones, but a lot of bloat."

[6.0] "This was a bit of a mixed bag overall, but it's a watchable PPV and certainly a lot better than the tragically bad Uncensored PPV. The Battle Bowl had some interesting concepts with the way the tag team concept worked where it was a tournament where tag teams was randomly drawn together in order to qualify for a battle royal in the final match, but the execution was not good largely because there was just no star power in the final match and I think there was way too many of these matches. There was a few matches I enjoyed from it and the Flair/Macho Man storyline running through it was excellent, but on the whole it was more miss than hit. Outside of that the card had a solid Malenko vs Armstrong match, Justin Thunder Liger had a different kind of performance to his usual high risk style against Konnan and the Sting v Giant main event was eventful to say the least."

[5.0] "I still hate the BattleBowl, but at least here they made some decent use of it by putting over DDP, even if the star power in the final Battle Royal was atrocious. Some decent and interesting pairings here and there with Flair's and Savage's feud being the highlight, but they could have done without making the semi-finals. At least the matches weren't too long, plus the singles bouts kept some level. Malenko vs Armstrong was a very solid contest based around chain wrestling, Konnan and Liger had a disappointing, but still not that bad of a match and the main event was a pleasant surprise, as Sting once again used his phenomenal connection with the crowd and got a very good performance out of The Giant. So even though the whole show was packed with all kinds of matches the quality never really dipped too far and the main event was a great ending to this."

The 3 non-Battle Bowl matches were mediocre, but I hated Diamond Dallas Page at the time and didn't want him to win, but he became better later on. Still, outside of the Savage/Flair stuff with Eddie and Arn, this pretty much blew chunks."

The tournament itself was super weak. Everyone who made it to the battle royal final was all a bunch of mid to upper careers, DDP and Scott Norton were the only likely winners. Konnan and Liger didn't blend well despite the lucha backgrounds. The main event was fun but I wish Jimmy and Lugar weren't present so much."

Most of the matches were crippled by the storylines and what you end up with is a WWF Attitude Era/Vince Russo style event with shitty 3 minute matches, doule DQ's and screw job finishes. Nothing was solved tonight and it was just an extension of the current story lines. The US title and Cruiserweight titles pull it up to 4 stars."

[3.0] "The good news about this show is that Hogan had gone off to Hollywood. The bad news is that the bulk of the show was the Lethal Lottery/Battle Bowl format, where teams were supposedly drawn at random, and freind would fight friend and foe team with foe. They didn't even try to make it look random, and very few of the matches were interesting due to being rushed - there were 12 tournament matches as well as three title defenses. The tournament itself was awful, although it did advance a few storylines, and the title defences were average at best. A completely skippable show, and only notable for being the first PPV to feature the Cruiserweight championship."

The rest of the event has three matches, all of them have good quality, The Giant vs Sting and Konnan vs Jushin Liger are strong, Malenko vs Armstrong technical and solid enough. The 'watch' part is for the extra-tournament."

[8.0] "Very underrated event in my book, I quite enjoyed watching this. Most of the matches were at least ok and there was a lot going on in terms of character and booking that I found interesting. I won't run down every match but I will say some of the lethal lottery stuff was quite good, like Arn/Eddie v. Savage/Flair, and PE v. Benoit/Sullivan. Liger/Konnan was pretty good too, underrated I'd say, and DDP/Barbarian v. Meng/Morrus was surprisingly good. The main event is solid too, the stuff between Lex Luger and Sting is really a ball. I will say this though, booking guys like Booty Man and Jim Duggan twice on the card is bad news."

[5.0] "This iteration of the Lethal Lottery/Battle Bowl concept had a great outcome, serving as a payoff to DDP's "outhouse-to-penthouse" arc and a major stepping stone in his path to stardom. Most of the rest of the tournament, though, didn't really do much for me; many of the combinations didn't seem to work too well together, and most of the matches were too short to amount to much. One of the most intriguing situations was the Road Warriors ending up on opposing teams, but there wasn't really any payoff to that. The show was not a total los, though, as the last tournament semifinal before the battle royal (Barbarian/DDP vs. Booty Man/R. Steiner) was pretty alright, and the Malenko-Armstrong and Konnan-Liger title matches were pretty good. The Sting-Giant main event was decent enough as well; despite Giant being largely inexperienced at this point, the way it was put together definitely shows how much better WCW presented him as a legit "giant" than WWE ever did."
