[8.0] "The Miz's mastery of his inflated character has made for an incredible series of promos against perennial underachiever D Ziggler. Certainly an underachiever as Ziggler has the amateur pedigree and workrate of a potential star but conducts his matches as if '93 was the best year of C Henning's career while offering promos that vary week-to-week in their effectiveness. And let's not even go into his stand-up aspirations. Whereas the Miz has been placed in the position of someone who can actually 'Show-off:' year-after-year being a reliable WWE diplomat whether it's on a film-set/morning talk show all the while having his hot Valykrie wife by his side. His hometown celebration/video was worthy of someone who is one of the biggest over-achievers in WWE history. So naturally we are at the point when DZ had to reach down and offer his career to Miz in return for one more opportunity for the IC belt. I'm unsure if DZ has the emotional depth to carry it off... to win the title and emerge as a 'new man... ' but WWE has done a great job withthis storyline. AJ/Ambrose had a match as good if not better than their 'Backlash' main event with Cena doing an excellent job on commentary providing the foundation of why all three-men in the 'No Mercy' main event are desperate for a victory. In depressing news, WWE has thus far dropped the ball on 'American Alpha' as newcomers to the roster shouldn't be saddled with the dreaded 'babyface-is-injured' as it's ineffective at getting them over. 7. 5"

[10.0] "Current Smackdown is proving that weekly wrestling TV doesn't need to fill its whole runtime with matches to be great. Each segment on this show (and Talking Smack) was terrific, barring the short Naomi/Nikki promo before their match. The Miz/Ziggler segment was incredible stuff and made great use of the fact that the show was in both of their hometowns. Miz cut an awesome promo as usual, but wow, Dolph's part of that segment legitimately made me give shit about him for the first time in YEARS. The matches themselves still mostly delivered. The 8-Man tag was really fun stuff that told a good story and was quite over with the crowd. The women's tag wasn't too bad, although Carmella just isn't good in the ring at all. The main event was great stuff; not on par with their Backlash match, but still **** to me, and the finish built tension between the three men perfectly. Fantastic stuff out of Smackdown recently, it's hard to believe the shitshow that is Raw is done by the same people."

[9.0] "Another fantastic show. The second hour really brought this grade up. The Miz and Ziggler promo was incredible and really invested me in their match. Ambrose vs Styles was an amazing tv match, one of the best tv ones of the year and on par with their Backlash match. The match was great and the booking was smart ****1/4. While the first hour wasn't special, it was still an easy watch. Plus Talking Smack was awesome again this week. Great show"

[5.0] "This was a half-good half blah show. Anything not involving Ziggler and Miz was hit or miss but this show belonged to Dolph Ziggler and The Miz."
