[9.0] "NXT TakeOver: Toronto is a GREAT event that's definitely worth watching from beginning to end. While some matches might not be five-star, none are bad; they all have their own unique charm and are all entertaining. We also have one of the best tag team matches in WWE history, a very good main event, and a generational clash that's just okay. Plus, the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic final, while not exactly memorable, is anything but boring, and a Tye Dillinger vs. Bobby Roode match leaves you with a good feeling. Honestly, between the matches, the video packages, and the crowd, I would watch this event several times over."

"Great match with a lot of fun back and forth action. Tye in particular had a great comeback leading up to the finish. Crowd was very into this match, even getting 'This Is Awesome' before they locked up. Overall I would say it was a pretty good match turned into a great match because of the crowd heat."

Dusty tag final was okay nothing much to write about. Women match was pretty good, too with mickie looking real good. ME was another good match but again disappointing when shinsuke was robotic and no sold anything. And this could have been better."

[9.0] "Greta show . No bad matches . Matches where mainly very good to excellent . They put a lot into the entrances for Roode , Asuka and Nakamura to make them seem like big stars . It added a major event feel to the show . Make no mistake about it . The stars of this show where The Revival . The tag title match was excellent . They bring an old school feel to their matches while keeping the modern pacing and move sets . The chanting culture that has arisen is getting very old and annoying . It's almost like people don't watch the matches and are waiting to chant something because they think they are part of the show . I do have to say that James hang a lot better with Asuka than I expected . Matches worth watching : all of them and my top match was #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Revival (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) (c) ."

[9.0] "One of the top fifteen events of the entire pro wrestling landscape of 2016, this show had everything one could ask for at a PPV - atmosphere, high-quality matches, surprising results, and special in-ring entrances. Through these five matches I was taken on an adventurous journey, and I departed the show reinvigorated and actually anticipating WWE's 'Survivor Series. ' Although I'm someone who's not a fan of the just-adequate Roode holding the big belt, at least for tonight everything felt all-good. 8. 5 rounded-up, as any event of which 40% of the in-ring action earned an '8' or '9, ' and nothing lower than a '5, ' is deserving of a superior score."

[7.0] "A show of two halves. The first three matches held up very well. Roode v Dillinger was a hot opener, and with a loud crowd made for an exciting opener. The Dusty Classic may have had two unexpected teams in the final, but they put on a solid match. And then DIY v The Revival was an excellent match (****1/2), with the feel-good moment of Ciampa and Gargano finally getting one over on Dash and Dawson and winning the belts. Then the show turned boring. Asuka v Mickie James was a foregone conclusion, and with no build up there was no reason to care. The main event underwhelmed again, Joe and Nakamura should both be capable of much better but their matches against each other have been dull."

[8.0] "A solid edition of TakeOver, especially notable for the MOTY candidate Tag Title match between the Revival and Gargano/Ciampa. The main event was also good, though not unlike their first encounter, and the Women's Title match was well done, with a great comeback performance for Mickie and big feather in Asuka's cap for victory. The opener was also good action with a very hot crowd for the two hometown Canadian competitors. The Dusty Classic finals had a bit of silliness with Ellering in the cage in a bit of blatant toy advertising, but was as solid as you could hope for for the Authors of Pain at this point. Good all around."

[10.0] "The best show WWE put on in 2016 from top to bottom. Had a serious MOTY contender in D. I. Y vs The Revival, a great and shocking main event in Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe, a solid womens title match, and some great opening matches including Roode vs Dillenger which was made great by the electric crowd. Just a fantastic show, maybe the best NXT Takeover yet."

[10.0] "Great show till the main event as always with those shows. Roode/Tye - ***3/4 Great match considering they haven't done much, but Roode's character work, charisma and attention to detail really propelled it for me. It was just great old school stuff. Thats what WWE needs to be doing right now instead of high speed useless dangerous spots to get 'holy shit' chants. AOP/TMDK - ** average. DIY/Revival - ***** - Fantastic match, everything was perfect, on the edge of my seat for the finishing sequence. Mickie/Asuka - ***1/2 - Good match. Mickie showed some great work here and tons of charisma. She looked like a real threat for the champ, who was great as always. Better than her match w/Bailey. Nakamura/Joe - ***1/2 It was a good match but not main event quality. Nothing to sink your teeth in. Joe tried to squeeze in some psychology into this match with the legwork but Nakamura was more concerned with getting cheep pops and started doing his usual acrobatics like nothing happened. Still the action was smooth and finish delivered unlike their previous match."

[9.0] "Roode vs Dillinger was a very solid, old-school brawl that had a HOT, HOT crowd; it went longer than expected and made both guys look great, elevated by how much the crowd loved it (***3/4). AoP vs TM61 was a fairly standard tag match with a silly toy advertisement/80s callback gimmick, but also a CRAZY dive from Shane Thorne, who I think is a star (**3/4). Revival/DIY II was yet another tag classic for Revival in 2016, filled with all the same incredible tag team action and structure as usual, as well as some great callback spots and stolen finishes, but the pacing was a tad slow, which prevents it from topping the first, not that that means it's anything short of incredible (****3/4). Asuka vs Mickie was a great showcase for how good Mickie has gotten and showed legitimate chemistry between them, as Mickie's strikes and selling were on a level to match Asuka; the finish was odd to some, but I thought it was really neat: Mickie tries her hardest to escape the Asuka lock, but after a full minute of attempts with it locked in still cannot and when cornered taps to avoid passing out; the more I think about the finish the more I really liked it and how it portrayed Mickie as a veteran (***3/4 to ****, hard to gauge right now). Joe vs Nakamura II was a tad better than their first match towards the end, but in other ways towards the beginning it was worse in terms of pacing, and Shinsuke didn't sell his leg much outside of during the cover after the Kinshasa nearfall; still, it was very, very good as it went, especially the stiffness of some of the shots and some spots like the German/Dragon/Straightjacket Suplex combo from Joe. The last moments of the match were really good though and set up the title change well, making the match just that much better than the previous match, and worthy of ****. Really great show in-ring with a hot crowd, but nothing outstanding on the booking side of things or anything like that, as it is NXT and the booking in NXT is very basic."

[4.0] "Roode vs Tye was a boring match with almost no momentum going into it, yet passable so I'll give it ** - Authors of Pain vs TM61 was a decent match with a stipulation ripped straight from the Golden Era so it gets a *** despite its reputation as a "tournament finals" in an attempt to give one of the teams a rub instead of just some random team like Joe and Balor - Revival vs DIY went on for too long and had some dumb spots in it. Gargano is an incredibly boring person to watch and bogs Ciampa down. ***1/2 - Asuka vs Mickie was okay. *** - Shinsuke vs Joe was dull, and Shinsuke did a poor job of selling the moves that Joe did on him. Joe becoming champion is the best decision. ***1/2"

[8.0] "Roode vs Tye took a while to get going, but ended up being a good match (***). Authors vs TM61 wasn't very good. It definitely didn't feel like a final of a big tournament. Not terrible, but outside of Thorne's dive it was a nothing match (**1/4). Revival vs DIY was incredible. WWE MOTY by a mile and one of the two best tag matches this year (****3/4). Asuka vs Mickie was decent. Nothing special, but not a bad match either (**3/4). Joe vs Nakamura was very good, but also very disappointing. Maybe I haven't been enjoying their matches that much because I expected some incredible, instant classics from them, but both were way below what I thought they would be (***1/2). Overall, a pretty great show, but definitely not one of the best Takeovers."

[10.0] "Bobby Roode vs Tye Dillinger - Good Canadian Battle (***3/4), Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Final - Fun match with good spots (***1/4), The Revival vs DIY Was A classic, I commented that the brooklyn match was the best tag team Match of the year but now I fix it. This was definitely the Match of the night and the best tag team Match of the year. The Last Two Fall were crazy, Many Near Falls. These two Tag Team have Much Chemistry, I hope to see the Third Match to complete the Trilogy. (*****), Asuka vs Mickie James Was a Good Match, Mickie James surprised me because she was able to fight at the same level of Asuka (***3/4), Nakamura vs Joe - Great Main Event, I was surprised to see Joe defeating Nakamura (****1/4), Very Good Takeover 10/10"

[10.0] "Well this was absolutely fantastic. Best Takeover yet. Dillinger vs Roode was an incredible opener. They played the crowd so well and delivered an action packed and psychological match ****. AoP vs TM61 was a really fun match. The dive spot by Thorne was insane ***1/4. Revival vs DIY was even better than Brooklyn. Incredible tag team classic MOTYC. What a way to lose the titles on (and hopefully move up to the MR) ****3/4. Asuka vs MJ was a great match with a big feel to it. Mickie looked like she hasn't lost a step ***1/2. Nakamura vs Joe was a fantastic main event. Big fight feel and they brought the intensity. Felt like a real brawl. Shock ending too ****1/2. Perfect 10 show"

[8.0] "Roode/Dillinger was a solid opener, it probably went on too long though (**3/4), the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic finals match was really meh (*), Revival/DIY was the best non-AJPW 2-on-2 tag match I've ever seen, just absolutely perfect (*****), Asuka/Mickie was good, enjoyed the storytelling in it (***) & the main event between Nakamura & Joe was really good, could've been a classic had Nakamura been on Joe's level in it (***3/4). On a side note, marked for the return of Joe's old theme song too lol. All in all, an awesome show. Another Takeover hit."

[10.0] "If I have to recommend a must watch event for WWE in 2016 I go with this TakeOver Toronto. Great crowd, great matches, there is nothing wrong and sometimes it feels magic. Gargano and Ciampa vs The Revival is one of the best match of the year, it's great and exciting. Roode vs Dillinger is another good quality contest, without any need for aerial action, just pure technique and charisma (glorious vs ten). I'm surprised for the Dusty Rhodes tournament final, it looks like straight outta later '80s in NWA for the style. Mickie James vs Asuka is predictable but a good contest, great return, maybe one night only. Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe is obsviously THE match, everyone got there sure to see Nakamura retains and then Joe does his best performance in WWE in this match. So many Joe vs Morishima vibes! Epic show from the beginning to the end, the fact they broke the 2 hours limit helps a lot. The WWE Network is great also for reasons like this, you don't have a strict limit for your shows."

[10.0] "Easily the best NXT takeover show for the year and right up there with the best. The opener was good and energetic. The Dusty Rhodes finals was much better than expected thanks to a spectacular effort from TM61. The NXT tag title match was a 5 star classic and a MOTYC. The Women's title match was great, seriously Mickie James is still better than most of the girls under contract. They need to re-sign her. And the show ended with the shock of Samoa Joe handing Nakamura his first WWE lost."

Every match delivered. The tag title match is MOTY. One hell of a five star classic. Joe Vs Nakamura was better than at Brooklyn. 10/10 show."

Best tag match I have ever seen. Main event was really good. In my opinion, like their last match, Samoa Joe is the one who shined through for me. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable show. Arguably, the best takeover show ever, as it's being called by many."

[6.0] "Dillinger/Roode was very dull for the first part, but then last few minutes were decent and it ended up being good (***). AoP/TM61 was just.. there, and the ending was bad (* 3/4). Asuka/Mickie was fine (** 1/2), and Nakamura/Joe was a good, but underwhelming main event (*** 1/4). They way Nakamura sold the leg was atrocious, you can see that this guy wants to be on the main roster already. The MoTN by far and my current WWE MOTY was DIY/Revival. Just an unbelievable match, such a great storytelling, psychology and atmosphere. The 3rd fall was just insane, I loved the callbacks to their Brooklyn match (**** 3/4). If it wasn't for the tag title match, this would've been a very average show. NXT is just not what it used to be. Thumbs in a middle for this show."
