[7.0] "Decent tournament finale with a top flight main event and two enjoyable Tag Title matches . This logically would set up Kushida for GHC Jr. Title match but these shows seemed more about pecking order than anything else . Draw backs where Suzuki-gun nonsense and having to see way too much Taichi . On the other hand could stand to see more of his companion . Matches worth watching : Kenou vs. KUSHIDA , Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru , Matt Sydal vs. Will Ospreay , Euforia, Gran Guerrero & Ultimo Guerrero vs. Caristico, Titan & Volador Jr. , KUSHIDA vs. Taichi , Matt Sydal vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru , Momo No Seishun Tag (Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada) (c) vs. ACH & Taiji Ishimori , Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (c) vs. Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) and my top match was KUSHIDA vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru ."

[4.0] "This felt like the worst show NJPW has put on in years, the whole thing had way to many shenanigans, and just felt to long, not a labour of love for wrestling, just a overall boring show (thanks for that Taichi) despite some decent-good matches."

[6.0] "This year's installment of the Super J Cup had a couple things working against it: a) The glut of Big Pro-Wrestling shows, and possibly the unfortunate trek to Ariake, led to a poor crowd. Ariake was conceived as an arena to hold prestigious tennis tournaments and thus has a very spacious square set-up and expansive seating arrangement that creates a lot of dead air/lack of noise if the building is not filled to capacity. b) Suzuki-gun has not been a draw all year, nor is Memphis wrestling 'cool' in the Japan of 2016, so to create a storyline in which the technico's are threatened Not by better wrestlers but by constant interference made this show a downer. c) Kanemaru was a spirited, out-performing ones expectations, competitor back with 'Sternness' in the early-mid 2000s. The K of today is a 40 yr old washout who possesses negative charisma. I get booking the finals to be IWGP vs. NOAH Jr champ, but with K in that role it's underwhelming. In more positive news, Ospreay and Sydal engaged in a few marvelous sequences, Volador Jr. looked great while I had never seen U Guerrero live before and was taken in by his charisma, Caristico may be hurt but I'm not anymore a fan so I was pleased he wasn't over, both NOAH and IWGP Jr. Tag Title contests were exciting and should be 'Recommended' here as both are 7. 0 + matches. However, for Gedo not to reflect on NOAH's poor business with S-gun on-top, and then booking this night as he/they (Jado) did was a mistake."

[5.0] "Opening six man tag was decent. Nothing special but a fine opener **1/2. Liger vs Taichi was alright but never really got going. It was really more of a segment than a match *1/4. Kushida vs Kenou was a good match. Lot of grappling and some hard strikes. A little underwhelming though ***1/4. Taguchi  vs Yoshinobuwas a decent match. Taguchi is a great wrestler but it's a shame he throws it all away to do the funky weapon shtick and so his matches are rather dull **3/4. Ospreay vs Sydal was incredible on par with their RPW matches. This had great sequences and nice callbacks to previous matches. Very happy Sydal went over here as he deserves recognition ****1/4. Next six man tag was meh. Had some cool spots which drives the rating up a bit but overall rather boring and drawn out **1/4. Kushida vs Taichi was good. It started slow but picked up a bit, relied way to heavy on the interferences but it is what it is ***1/4. Sydal vs Yoshinobu was a fine match. Could've been better. Was really hoping to see a Sydal vs Kushida final but this was still alright ***. GHC Jr Tag title match was a fun match. Went a little too long so some energy was drawn out buy was still enjoyable ***1/2. IWGP Jr Tag title match was a really fun match as expected but I will say this relied too much on high spots. These guys could've done better but this was still really good with some really cool sequences ***3/4. Kushida vs Yoshinobu was a great match. It was a good story of the 2 Jr champs facing eachother. Kushida being the resilient underdog worked as a story as always and there were a few times I thought he might lose. Great match ****. Overall weak show with 2 great matches and 2 good, the rest was underwhelming and forgettable. A very long 4 hours"

[7.0] "FUCK TAICHI. There were a lot of great matches on this show, but this was still below the standard of big NJPW show. The opener was a lot of fun (*** 1/4), but the match that followed it was shit. Why? BECAUSE TAICHI FUCKING SUCKS. FUCK TAICHI. DUD. KUSHIDA/Kenou was really good (*** 1/2), Taguchi/Kanemaru was fine (** 3/4), and Ospreay/Sydal was great (****). The CMLL 6 man was very good (*** 1/2), KUSHIDA/Taichi was fine, and even though KUSHIDA is one of the best in the world, he couldn't carry that piece of shit to a good match (** 1/2). GHC title match was great and so was the Bucks/MCMG title match (both **** imo). KUSHIDA/Kanemaru was a very good match, even though it was probably the most overbooked NJPW match in forever. I had no problem in KUSHIDA overcoming the odds and looking like the superhero. He is the Junior Ace dammit (*** 1/2). Aside from the Taichi stuff, this was a very good show, altough definitely not the best NJPW show you will see this year."
