[8.0] "CLASSIC REVIEW: The July 26th, 2016 episode of SmackDown Live goes beyond the hype in some terms. I feel like this worked the same as RAW this week. The Battle Royale was forgettable at best, Lynch vs. Natalya was good, Introducing the NXT stars to the show afterwards was decent, Orton defeating The Miz was a double edged sword. It helped Randy but also made Miz look weak. We also got some hype packages from Shelton Benjamin (who was injured and wouldn't show up until mid-2017? ) and American Alpha. We also had the return of Rhyno goreing Heath Slater out of his boots and the underwhelming six-pack challange main event. Overall, a great show. [****]"

[6.0] "Nothing great but solid foundations were set. Battle Royale was quite slow, lacking any real stars and most participants were up against the ropes or in the turnbuckles 80% of the time. Apollo winning was nice. **3/4. Becky vs Natalya was weirdly booked given they just fought at Battleground. This match was worse, with both looking extremely awkward. Becky winning was nice, and a good choice, but she was just so embarrassing in everything she said. “Straight fiyaaaaa” and “call me Becky Balboa, baby! ” are so cringeworthy. **. When Naomi, Alexa, Carmella, and Eva came out after the match things got pretty awkward and stupid, especially with Carmella (who is 10x more cringeworthy than Becky), but I'm excited to see what Alexa can offer. The MizTv/Randy segment was great. Orton vs Miz was alright for what it was; a reintroduction to Orton’s skills, a reminder of Orton’s shoulder injury (which will likely be part of the narrative in the Lesnar match), and the satisfaction of beating up the Miz. ***. The Slater promo actually had charisma that got me excited for Slater for once. I also liked Rhyno’s shock appearance and subsequent signing. The backstage promos for the six man match were good. The match itself was pretty good even if it became everyone just trading their finishers/signature moves for the entire last half, but it was still very fun to see and very unclear as to who was most likely to win until the very end. Great result. Excited to see Ziggler get pushed. ***1/4"

[9.0] "Smackdown was not a bad show at all. It's just been overshadowed by an awesome RAW. Nothing on Sd was unnecessary. The only problem is the lack of rising star power is showing. I do think SD can be better then RAW as the weeks go by. Raw through everything at as and gave us a show that'll be hard to beat next week. Smackdown decided to start slow. That's fine."

Calling this show the 'wrestling' first show, with this crew, is a joke."

[1.0] "Horrible show. Raw actually felt different and was actually very enjoyable but this just seems like the same old Smackdown. The battle royal was bad and the wrong person won. The womens match was okay. Orton Vs The Miz was a huge waste of time. The main event was also okay but seriously, Baron Corbin and Apollo in their? I did like Ziggler winning though. 1/10."

[5.0] "SmackDown failed to deliver a show as half as good as Monday's Raw. It seems to me like SD roster doesn't have the star power RAW has. Guys like Cena and Orton who you would thought could be the bastion for this brand are pretty stale right now. Wyatt seems lost, Styles will probably be feuding with Cena a little more and Crews and Corbin are not ready yet. Also, they have a solid tag team division but no titles whatsoever. That women's segment was awful and, funny enough, Eva Marie was the best thing on it. I really want to see what they'll do with Ziggler, who will be the next IC contender, if some new titles will be added and, of course, what will be the roles that guys like Rhyno and Shelton will be playing from now on."

[6.0] "The first SmackDown of the brand split didn't live up to Raw, but that show set the bar very high anyway. Ziggler winning the main event was a surprise, but SmackDown does need to build up main eventers and the midcard, and he and Ambrose should have a good match at SummerSlam. The main event and Becky vs. Natalya were decent matches, but the Battle Royal was sloppy and exposed the show's lack of depth at the moment, and the Miz/Orton segment was pointless. Raw has the advantage so far, but if SmackDown can create some decent booking and feuds over the next few weeks it'll get better."

[3.0] "What a terrible start to Smackdown live, this episode flopped hard. Putting six of your main guys in one match was a bad decision, the battle royal full of wrestlers I'm sure many don't care about was a bad decision. These matches exposed Smackdown straight away, as having a very thin roster, with a very average midcard. The action itself was pretty poor as well, the Women's segment just finished with no announcement of a new title. Orton vs Miz was a joke then the main event delivered an incredible shock and not for the better. "New Era" yet Ziggler gets a push over the likes of Styles, Wyatt & Corbin, even if he turns heel it has to be one of the best heel turns ever in Wrestling to get me interested. The only good parts of the show were the announcement of Shelton Benjamin return & Eva Marie's entrance."

[3.0] "The first Smackdown Live was exciting with the draft and the idea of many things happening at the same time. This is the second show, the first after the draft, and things didn't go well as expected. It's almost as a bad clone of the Raw episode, I don't see a new wave of wrestlers who can get opportunities. The main event is the only good match, the rest is the same staff before the draft. The promos were bad or terrible, the women's reunion had no sense at all. I expect a heel turn for Ziggler to make him feel more dangerous. There is much to do to give the show a better impact."

[0.0] "This was the way to reinvigorate Smackdown! ? Really? Well, then it completely fucking failed in every aspect. The matches were all boring or botchy, especially Becky/Natalya. The segments all fell flat and dragged on for obnoxious amounts of time and completely destroyed the notion that Smackdown was supposed to be a show highlighting workrate over gimmicky storylines. The brand only has TWO CHAMPIONS! What in the actual flying fuck are the women and tag teams fighting for then? And in typical WWE fashion the IC title was completely buried when The Miz was beaten by Orton in less than five goddamn minutes all to get an already over guy over before Summerslam by sacrificing any credibility The Miz had left. All of it reeks of Vince McMahon myopic booking that gets nobody over; one particularly awful standout is Styles taking the pin in the six pack challenge, further tarnishing his pretty shaky credibility in WWE before he enters into a match with JOHN CENA (you know, the 15 time world champ) at the second biggest show of the year. Even the ending was terrible as it consisted of four guys just awkwardly looking at each other, robbing an already cold Ziggler/Ambrose title angle of any intensity. A dogshit show all around that got totally obliterated by RAW and leaves one to ponder why they should even care to watch Smackdown at all, as the bookers themselves clearly don't."

[3.0] "After an excellent Raw on Monday, this Smackdown really needed to deliver. And well, I don't think it did. This felt like such a Vince Mcmahon show - a lot of promos, battle royal and an awful divas segment. None of the segments felt important, nor entertaining. The Orton-Miz match was such a disaster: Miz works Orton's injured shoulder for 3 minutes, and then they get back to the ring and Orton gives him two RKO's. And yet people will call out PWG or Dragon Gate for no psychology or selling! The 6 way match wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either, and I am not a fan of Ziggler-Ambrose as one of key matches at Summerslam. I still consider Ziggler as one of the most overrated guys on the roster but hey, maybe he will prove me wrong at SS and have a classic World Title match. Overall this was a massive disappointment, and only proves my point that SD roster is just too weak. They need to do something in the upcoming weeks to make this show feel important and entertaining, because this week it was just bad."

[7.0] "I'm not sure what happened here. Smackdown promised to be the show about the talent and the show about wrestling, but Shane & Bryan not only opened but closed the show, and the show had less matches than Raw (granted with less runtime) and worse matches while having multiple long promos. The Battle Royale was fine, but keeping Kane strong like that felt a bit weird. Becky and Nattie had a good match as well, although Becky beating Nattie clean after losing clean 2 days prior is 50/50 booking at its most basic level. The segment that followed was... something. Giving Eva Marie a narrator as a way to keep her away from a mic is genius, I'll admit. Miz TV segment was good, if long, but the match between Orton and Miz was perplexing. Miz dominates the guy booked to face Brock Lesnar in a month, then Randy hits an RKO, sits there for a full minute, and hits another RKO for the pin. The Slater segment was neat, and I'd like him to do that on both brands for a while, plus it was neat way to return Rhyno. The main event was a good match, or at least I think it was. The commercial breaks were so poorly-placed I think only the live audience saw the most exciting parts. Cena AAing everybody was pretty much an assertion of his continued dominance, Crews and Bray barely did anything, and in the end Dolph Ziggler pins AJ Styles with a superkick of all things. I suppose if Smackdown isn't the main event then you're better off giving Dean an opponent he can beat clean. Not as strong as Raw."
