[5.0] "An unspectacular event marking Bobby Heenan's WCW debut and the introduction of the new WCW Commissioner, Nick Bockwinkle. The opener features an intense brawl with some nice technical moments from Bagwell and Scorpio. The next match is short and painless, and the chicken match is rather disappointing given the caliber of the participants--though Steve Austin as a Parker lookalike, who bears a striking resemblance to George Peppard in The A-Team, is a standout. The following tag team match, like the main event, is carried more by the atmosphere than by the quality of the wrestling. A minor, run-of-the-mill event with no real highlights."

[7.0] "I honestly had a good time watching this show. This edition of Clash of the Champions doesn't have the greatest rating on Cagematch right now, but I thought it was pretty good. WCW either advanced or set up several major storylines here (obviously Flair vs Vader, but also Rude vs Sting for the International World Title or Nasty Boys vs Cactus Jack & Maxx Payne). They also set the stage for the upcoming weekly TV shows, with Col. Robert Parker getting humiliated the following Saturday, and Scorpio & Bagwell earning a tag team title shot with their victory in the opener. Not to mention the WCW debut of Bobby Heenan, of course! Most of the matches were good, too. Personally, I thought it was a good show."

[5.0] "Bobby Heenan's debut for WCW! He's following Mean Gene everywhere. This clash is ok, with no bad matches on it, but nothing that great. The main event is good enough, but I'm not sold on Rick Rude in WCW. There are better clashes out there but this isn't a waste of time or anything. Nothing drags or feels slow."

[5.0] "Not the greatest clash card, but the matches were at least shorter than usual. Ice Train was green as hell here, but the main event was pretty good, as was the opener. BUt still a showing lacking any real suspense."

[7.0] "Kind of an underrated Clash IMO; I quite enjoyed this one. Sting/Flair vs. Rude/Vader in the main event was a lot of fun; maybe a bit on the chaotic side but for a match designed to continue rather than end any storylines, it worked well. Elsewhere, Regal vs. Dustin was good, as was the Bagwell/Scorpio vs. Pretty Wonderful opener (watch Orndorff do the drop toehold on Scorpio, keep the ankle scissored and float over to make the tag - so smooth). The Pillman vs. Parker match was fun for what it was - Austin was great at ringside - but would've been better if the payoff of Parker having to wear the chicken suit was done right after the match instead of on the following Saturday Night. Cactus/Payne vs. Nasties was an OK brawl, and in the short time it had Simmons vs. Ice Train had some decent shows of power. Best of all, we get Bobby Heenan making a surprise debut and immediately being awesome on commentary, as well as Nick Bockwinkel showing up as the new authority figure. Perhaps not an all-timer, but an enjoyable Clash nonetheless."

[5.0] "None of it really stank but I am not sure it is a good sign when the only match I truly enjoyed had a "loser wears a chicken suit" stipulation. The main event is a real let down considering who was in it."

[4.0] "A pretty middling show all around with a widely average undercard, and a good but majorly disappointing main event. The surprise debut of Bobby Heenan was something, though."

[9.0] "Kicks off with a great surprise, this is the night Bobby the Brain Heenan comes to WCW! He banters with his old AWA/WWF colleague Okerlund before heading to commentary. That was a cool moment for me, I am a huge fan of the guy, and he does a great job all day long. Opening match is a great one, Scorpio and Orndorff in particular stand out as fantastic talents here. Simmons/Train is not bad but not that memorable, except for Simmons doing a little early heel singles work in advance of his NOD days. Another cool surprise, Nick Bockwinkel joins WCW as commissioner! Another guy I am a big fan of from back in the day. TV title match is enjoyable, I think it could have been better but Regal still stood out as a great talent even early on. Nasties/Cactus & Payne is a mixed bag, Foley is great but Payne really isn't. The end result isn't bad but nothing to see specially. Pillman/Parker is just a bit of fun, though it gets a little complicated when the Boss for some reason gets involved. Main event is solid, it's best when Vader is doing his thing but after he's eliminated along with Flair it drags a little. Still overall a good event that I definitely enjoyed watching. Just rewatched it and liked the show even more, especially think I slept on how great Regal/Dustin was!"

[6.0] "Pretty Wonderful vs 2 Cold Bagwell **3/4, not a bad opening, match felt too long but went by too fast as well. Ron Simmons vs Ice Train **1/4 Good powerhouse stuff, everything else was pretty rubbish. Steven Regal vs Dustin Rhodes ***1/4, good match, nice work from both guys but the draw ruined the match. Jack and Payne vs Nasty Boyz, **3/4, wow this match was actually pretty good, considering that the Nasties are in it and Max Payne was in more than Mrs. Foley? s baby boy. Brian vs Col. Rob Parker ***1/4, like the Regal/Rhodes match, the work was good, but hampered by something else, in this case however, the interference. Flair and Sting vs Rude and Vader. ***3/4, MOTN no doubt, everyone? s work was solid, Rude pulled off some good heel work, Flair sold really well, Vader played big Van really well and Sting was impactful with his power offense. Overall, Flair was MVP of the night as well as his match taking home MOTN. Not a bad show at all. 6/10"

[6.0] "There are only two good matches, the main event (a solid elimination tag team match with the four top wrestlers), and Steven Regal vs Dustin Rhodes. Also, Brian Pillman vs Robert Parker is enjoyable, even if a bit overbooked. The rest is bad or forgettable."

[7.0] "Good stuff throughout. Scorpio/Bagwell vs. Pretty Wonderful was a solid opener. Even though neither is technically sound, I've always liked Ron Simmons and Ice Train, so I enjoyed their little match. Regal vs. Dustin Rhodes was good, of course. Cactus/Payne vs. the Nasty Boys was watchable (which is tough to pull off with the Nasties). Flyin' Brian vs. Col. Parker was goofy, but it involved the Blonds so I'm down. Lastly, Flair/Sting and Rude/Vader were as awesome as one would expect. Fun event!"
