Overall WWE Survivor Series (2016) is a fantastic show and and a very underrated contender for one of the best Survivor Series shows ever."

"Probably one of the better PPV's around this time, really enjoyed 4 of the matches on this card a lot even if 1 of them was like 5 seconds long. The tag team eliminator and Raw vs Smackdown eliminator were both very solid with a nice little Sami vs Miz in the middle of the card as well. 8.5/10"

Everyone got a chance to shine and the other action is good, with the tag match being great fun as well."

[9.0] "One of the best 2016 PPVs, and when you compare to Battleground of that year, you see that's actually quite the accolade. Whilst it does have the standard highs and lows of a 2016 WWE PPV, the men's Survivor Series match was incredibly fun and manages to merge the brand warfare storyline of Survivor Series around the time with the Orton/Wyatt storyline seamlessly. And then there's Goldberg. Quite possibly one of Goldberg's best matches ever, precisely because it plays to his strengths. The entrance was one to rival Halloween Havoc 1998, and him dethroning Brock, who had been invincible for two and a half years by that point, in 86 seconds is one of the best swerves of the era. Seriously, guys, watch Paul Heyman talk about this match on the Inside the Ropes tour, he's much more eloquent at talking about this than I am."

[8.0] "Was my favorite WWE PPV of the year back in 2016 and still holds up pretty well on the rewatch. Women's elimination tag was decent, Jax being there never helps but the Women's division had a solid enough roster to make this one good enough (6/10) Miz vs Zany was a good back and forth match, with nice traditional heel face dynamics and schtick (7/10) the Tag Team survivor series bout, had a fun start with Enzo and Cass hyping the crowd up, the two shock quick elimnations back to back being a nice modification of that trope. Most teams got a spot to shine and the closing stretch with just the Usos and the Bar was great (8/10) Kendrick and Kalisto had a fairly solid title match very similar to the Zayn/Miz one butwith more high flying the difference is that the screwy finish hinders it a lot, Corbin was unnecesary (6/10) The Mens survivor series match is the best of the night by miles, it had a bunch of sturylines coming together a solid build for the brand rivalry and a bunch of great spots (That Spear and the Frogsplash RKO for example). (10/10) Goldberg/Lesnar was great use of what Goldberg could do and I remember it being a genuinely shocking moment with Cole's commentary and Heyman's screaming adding to it (9/10)"

[4.0] "A so so show at best. Women match was sloppy as usual and felt rushed **1/4. Miz/Sami was nothing more than an average raw match. The ending sucked **1/2. 10 vs 10 tag was really good fast paced match ***1/2. CW title match was okay but no one cared, no heat. And the ending was also awful**1/4. Men elimination match was really awesome car crash. They went over 50 minutes but didn't feel dull or anything else. MOTN for sure****1/4. ME was weird. On the one hand, I was surprised and marked out. On the other hand, it made lesnar look weak when you looked at how he was booked as a monster. Way too short for a big four ppv main event. Overall, below average with only 1 match being must watch, 1 match was good and the rest was forgettable."

Didn't know if the main event was bad or good but after re-watching I say it was great and shocking for Brock to lose like that (****1/4)"

[2.0] "Pretty bad show, all things concerned. Match of the night was Zayn/Miz, which actually told a great story along with great action, and I also really liked the 20 man match which featured lots of fun stuff, even though there were some suspiciously easy eliminations. Kendrick/Kalisto was also good up to the finish, but that was truly awful. The women were decent, not really enough focus on them to say more. That gets the event some credit, but the big matches were disastrous, in my eyes. The big elimination match was a spectacular mess, with inconsistent rules and motivations, nonsensical moments looking for a cheap pop, and oh yeah, Shane McMahon, who never should have been in the match, almost died off a botch. And the main event, wow, an insult to the intelligence of the fans who have watched Lesnar steamroll the regular roster only to lose to a man spectacularly past his prime in a nothing squash match. Just terrible on the whole and I wish I had just picked one or two matches to watch instead of the whole event."

[7.0] "Regardless that NXT is a one-hour weekly program with far less wrestlers to service, its ‘Takeover’ was better than this there were no masterpieces like the previous night’s tag/singles title matches. Yet this was a good show and I was pleased that the women started off the show b/c after ‘Hell in the Cell’ I thought Charlotte/Sasha was over and as such there was less drama to build from. Nia Jax is still far better an executor (double suplex on Becky/Bliss had lovely form) than taking others’ moves (double DDT by those two ladies was just sad. ) But she’ll never get over as a heel until she is pushed as a frightening and thus intimidating monster and not just intimidating b/c she is bigger than all the other women. This was a nice win for Bailey that has yet to mean anything. Wow – that was fast…the development, manufacturing and marketing of the toy cage above the toy ring so soon after the release of ‘The Battle of Atlanta. Isn’t it interesting the pecking order w/in the wrestling world? Yet if Goldberg is sticking around for more matches, then this was the best way to book Lesnar to lose…a quick defeat as if he thought too much of age/inactivity, and not enough to the possibility that what made Goldberg, ‘Goldberg, ‘ had not dissipated enough since Lesnar’s loss to him 12 years ago. A rousing, shocking way to end S Series ’16."

Goldberg vs Lesnar was very nostalgic. I'm going to give it **** 1/2 stars. I know, I know it sounds insane to give a 90 second match a rating this high, but it gave me so much joy and nostalgia. Those two matches are enough to make me rate this event at 10"

[9.0] "Definitely memorable, the women's match was a bit sloppy, and Miz/Zayn, Kendrick/Kalisto had slightly 'screwy' finishes, although the quality of wrestling in the match was very good. The Twenty Man Tag Team match was surprisingly fantastic and didn't manage to be clustered and overbooked, despite there being a huge risk of it beings those things. The Traditional Survivor Series Match was full of memorable moments, and Orton and Wyatt being triumphant was a breath of fresh air and good storytelling. The Goldberg/Lesnar match, although controversial, was a definite memorable highlight. It's unpredictable nature is what is often missed on WWE programming, and the quick finish nature of the match itself, should be perhaps replicated in other matches, instead of drawing all main events out, that don't otherwise need drawing out."

The women's match to start the night was a bit rubbish. The Miz v Sami Zayn was alright. The ten-team tag match was good. The cruiserweight match was fine, but had a bad ending. The Raw v SmackDown men's tag match was great. It went a very long time, but the action didn't die down and had a lot of exciting moments. The main event went the exact way I wanted it to, Goldberg smashing Lesnar in record time."

It was not the best ppv but it was much better than the Last Year Survivor series"

The ending was shocking and nostalgic and really didn't do any harm to Lesnar's character so I don't mind it. The ending to the Cruiserweight Match was lame and deflated the show for a bit, but they assuredly recovered."

[7.0] "Pretty good show. The women's opener was good and Nia Jax really surprised me. The Miz match was boring and forgettable. I loved the finish though with Maryse. The Tag team match wasn't anything special either except for the American Alpha tandem dive. That was pretty amazing. The Cruiserweight match was nice. I really liked the Spanish Fly off of the apron but I'm still salty the Captain's Hook off the top didn't finish it off. The RAW vs. Smackdown match was nice, especially with Ellsworth and his shenanigans. The Goldberg match might not of sunk well with the hardcore fans, but if you think of it through a kids eye, it would be amazing. Overall, good show."

[4.0] "I'm disappointed by this edition of Survivor Series, not for the same reasons of other people. To me every match except one seems bad booked. Kalisto vs Brian Kendrick is useless with a no-sense run-in from Baron Corbin, and Smackdown also comes off weak with the divas Series match and the tag team Series match, that one full of incoherence with some teams getting out early. The Miz vs Sami Zayn could have been a much better match, even that ending is horrible. The 5 vs 5 Smackdown vs Raw match shines, it's really great and I'd recommend it because it's highly enjoyable with some unforgettable moments. Then it comes Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg, overhyped match that lasts less than 1 minute and 30 seconds. Unbelievable but if they wanted the shock factor they got it, everyone is talking about it. Well, we are still talking about the Fingerpoke of Doom, that does not mean the shock is worthy, not for a main event. Anyway I wrote too much and I believe there is a great match and the rest is not good at all. My less enjoyed ppv of 2016."

[7.0] "This event was fine. All matches were fun and ranged from ***(Womens match) to ***3/4(IC match). They mostly put over title challengers which was fine except for the mens singles , but maybe it will breath life into that horrible 'but which side is he on? ' storyline. However the biggest minus was that they build no new hot angles and left nothing to be excited for TV. Why cant you give title to Zayn and move him to Smackdown? Why cant Alpha win and establish themself as a legit contender? Why cant Jericho win, get the big pop and become threat to Owens? Still not gonna watch TV except for the Goldberg stuff. Main event was great by the way. Goldberg looked million bucks, cant wait for the rematch"

[8.0] "Maybe it wasn't perfect but for sure Survivor Series was a pay per view to remember. The Toronto crowd was on fire and the first half hour of the show was perfect. Funny enough, the singles matches were the weak link, but looking on the bright side, WWE used the Survivor Series concept in a perfect way. They should keep the roster separate the entire year and build this kind of excitement next year as well. For now, they've made it."
DanTalksRasslin wrote on 21.11.2016:
[6.0] "Survivor Series continued WWE's 2016 trend of generally very good in-ring action coupled with often-baffling booking. All that build for this particular match, and years of build of Brock as an unstoppable monster up to and including ending 'Taker's Streak, only to have him get squashed by a guy who hasn't wrestled in well over a decade? Also not thrilled with the way the Cruiserweight Title match's finish hearkened back to the WCW gimmick where Sid Vicious would interrupt good cruiserweight matches for no reason. The undercard generally was rather good - I quite enjoyed the men's singles Survivor Series match (my pick for match of the night), women's was alright with some pretty notable botches, and the tag team Survivor Series was very rushed in the beginning but provided good action in its second half. One thing I did greatly appreciate was how much emphasis and importance was placed on the traditional Survivor Series matches, which have been largely an afterthought (and occasionally not even present) on these shows for years and years."

[8.0] "I thought this event was pretty good. The matches were decent, even though the women's match was a botch fest and weird booking was everywhere. I don't like that now the Cruiserweights have to work both Raw and Smackdown, but how else 3 hours will be filled? The men's SS match is exactly what a SS match should be and I'm glad that they throw Bray Wyatt a bone by winning for the right brand. The best way I can describe the Goldberg/Lesnar is that it was interesting and it got me wanting the watch Raw to see what goes down. Overall, the show was not as bad as people say it is, but it's probably the booking throwing people off."

Overall I thought Survivor Series '16 was pretty enjoyable. It didn't have any MOTYC's or ****+ must see matches, but nothing on the show was really bad - the big negative is that IMO the wrong man went over on the main event, but oh well."

The second Survivor Series match was very fun to watch. The ending to The Cruiserweight Title Match was stupid. And the main event was a fun surprise. I'm really looking forward to what WWE does with Goldberg from here."

Sometimes we have bad booking but this was on a whole nother level. The Women's match was an absolute mess, the eliminations were dreadful. The Tag team 5 on 5 was a mess too, the only good parts of that match were at the end where it came down to Sheamus & Cesaro vs Usos. Cruiserweights stay on Raw for some illogical reason. Finally Goldberg vs Brock... laughable. Garbage PPV, garbage company."
Glover wrote on 21.11.2016:
[6.0] "A real mixed bag. Lots of good & bad. Women's 5v5 was decent, but lacked cohesion; some of the big eliminations were very unceremonious and some of the wrestling was sloppy (Nia Jax exemplifies both; she's not as protected as Braun as a monster despite being as green, plus she tapped clean out of nowhere), but overall it was an okay match that had a decent result that put Bayley over (***, MAYBE ***1/4). Miz vs Zayn was a really great, well-paced title match that had both guys do what they've been best at this year; Miz working on top as a dickish heel that mocks Bryan and shows resilience and cowardice at the same time, and Zayn working from underneath as a lovable, firey babyface with a clipped leg; the finish, while clever, was a bit deflating (***3/4). Tag Team 10v10 started off awkwardly with two immediate eliminations, but it got better and better as it went; American Alpha running wild was a highlight especially Gable being suplexed over the top for a dive by Jordan, and the Cesaro & Sheamus vs Usos ending stretch was just awesome tag team wrestling that showed how terrific Cesaro truly is (****1/4). Kendrick vs Kalisto was similar to the other title match in that they had a pretty great match marred by a bad finish, but this time I think this was a more valiant effort as they got some of the mild crowd into it; great high-risk match with a bad finish (***3/4). The Men's 5v5 was incredible stuff; it was a knock-down drag-out WARZONE of a clusterfuck. The pacing was slow, but not methodical, more balls-to-the-wall crazy with multiple eliminations that protected someone strongly and a fuckton of memorable moments and spots (too many to list). Everybody did well here, even Braun, Shane, and Roman, and keeping the Wyatts strong as the survivors was a pleasant surprise; I LOVED this insane bumper car derby trainwreck of a match, some of the most entertaining stuff I've seen this year (****3/4). Didn't see the main event, but evidently it wasn't much."

[2.0] "Probably the worst show this year. Inept script, dull matches, miserable results and a lot of overbooking. Traditional knockout matches were pretty average. In women, illiterate recipe and a complete lack of interest and intrigue. Ending crumpled. In fact everything was done for the liner to feud Bayley and Charlotte, who, and so there is fertile ground for conflict. Team match went better, though there has already begun to disappoint. But in the end all be rehabilitated, and we saw a good and hard battle. The last match turned out to be the best, but it is very questionable in terms of the booking and elimination. Well, the duration is clearly not benefited, were sagging. About the match for the Intercontinental title, even I do not want to talk. Another parody of Montreal bummer, of which there were already a thousand. Primitive, dull and boring. The match also went bad. Replace Ziggler was a mistake. The match for the title of purple, too, showed a very mediocre. A lot of slack, not peculiar division, a few mistakes, and of course, the ending. But all this can not be compared with the spectacle that we saw in the main event. Goldberg defeated Lesnar for 1 minutes, and poured into the toilet all the achievements that can be spent on the promotion of new wrestlers. Bravo WWE. The show turned out disgusting and one high-quality match clearly does not help the situation."
